A few companies have had issues with this suspension system (yoke, strut-mount): broken or leaking dampers, loosening or breaking bolts. For example Specialized, Orbea, Commencal. Do you think a new brand will succeed with strut-mount suspension? Especially that frame is not stiff.
It hasn't been an issue on the latest strut mounted shocks (though this bike has the double whammy of being yoke mounted as well as Trunnion which is also not great from a tolerance standpoint). You'd just have to be more specific about the shocks you use (Float X has a relatively large stanchion so it's no issues, same as an X2 or a Rockshox Super Deluxe or Vivid etc). It's more if you're wanting to use say last gen (and maybe even current gen) Fox DHX2s with narrower shaft diameters etc.
@lenolenoleno True, an air shock is unlikely to break. But in new frame designs with strut-mount suspension systems like on the Orbea Occam, the bolts holding the shock have been known to break. There are cases of shafts being worn down on just one side. If the forces in the suspension are strong enough to break a coil shock, they’re certainly affecting an air shock in the same way. This is definitely not good for the air shock’s durability and reliability. Vorsprung made a good video explaining the issue called 'Dear Bike Industry... Tuesday Tune Ep 34' on UA-cam.
@gdosiu for sure. Not ideal and requires the frame to be built in a rather narrow range of tolorance (which the bike industry isn't known for). Will be interesting to see long term durability reports of this seemingly open mould bike a year down the track. Big fan of Steve's work over at Vorsprung.

Your choice, however this is DJI. Already a hugely significant and successful manufacturer of motors, batteries and technology. It's backed by the industry standard 2 yr warranty on electrical components and 5yrs on the frame, rated Cat 4 it has a higher IP rating than any other motor. . It would be incredibly damaging to their brand if they didn't support it. They have chosen retailers to supply their product, along with their own Research and Development. Where is the concern? There hasn't been one negative comment of its reliability so far and the testers are trying their best to break it. I'm pretty sure that most riders won't be abusing it like the reviews are., pushing it harder and harder to see how it stacks up. Amflow/Dji are setting new heights with this contribution to the emtb market. 👍

all fantastic but in 5 years no one be able to find bettery replacement for those bikes. it already happens. I have customers swearing a lot that they need to buy new bike because nothing is compatible anymore.
I hope bike MFGs make it so you can remove the controller alltogether and still choose modes COUGH COUGH everyone. I leave my Kenevo SL in detuned trail, let me remove controller and click the 1 button screen display in the top tube to change/power off on instead of needing a controller. The controllers on this DJI are already too big/wide imo but small complaint.
Luckily, you can remove the controllers on the DJI since they're bluetooth, and can control modes via the touch display. You would just lose the walk mode by doing so.
@ The bike looks pretty decent and the motor/system does look excellent… but have you ever seen a new brand come in to the MTB/cycling world and garner SUCH a rabid fan base in such a short space of time, without any of these fanboys even seeing one in the flesh, let alone riding one? 🤯 I do look forward to seeing other manufacturers getting hold of the system though.

@Mockle07 I think it’s more than just a powerful motor that’s getting people excited. I suspect it’s also the clear respect for their customers by paying attention to user experience that can be seen in the large touchscreen and its interface, and also that DJI has a proven track record of producing the best products and experience in their category with their drones.

All the other traditional MTB manufacturers should be embarrassed. DJI, not even in adjacent industry, but a drone and camera company, comes in on the first try and buries them all. Now all the “light weight” low power MTBs look stupid and a waste of money. Then again so do the full power ones compared to this bike
But as a MTB er I don't mind about that power. I prefer having 1/3 of the power and having a good handling bike. It's not just about put a powerful motor in the bike

*ehh.. i would never buy a new batch of anything again..... what batteries does it use? motor warranty? ... frame alignment good?.. id only be interested after some real reviews of people that have bought it after a year. happy with my orbea wild atm*
Im looking forward to the motor and tech getting stuffed into bigger and better bikes. 150mm flexy trail bikes arent my groove at all.
Orbea Rise geometry...
yes indeed. Would love to see a comparison.
Few more days til we get to the Os
LOAMWOLF!!!!!How do you get ahold of this bike in USA when the consumer can’t? can you please discuss availability in North America at the beginning of the review? Frankly, I don’t care to hear about something that is unobtainable in North America! ☺️ thanks.
We were sent this bike as it was supposed to be available at the time this series went live. Hopefully early 2025??
But time will tell.
all fantastic but in 5 years no one be able to find bettery replacement for those bikes. it already happens.
@TheLoamWolf hell ya!
Can’t wait for all the “aMflOw 4 lYf” comments! 🙄
Haha. Likely going to be a few
@ The bike looks pretty decent and the motor/system does look excellent… but have you ever seen a new brand come in to the MTB/cycling world and garner SUCH a rabid fan base in such a short space of time, without any of these fanboys even seeing one in the flesh, let alone riding one? 🤯
I do look forward to seeing other manufacturers getting hold of the system though.
@@Mockle07Right or wrong, this thing has had many reviews and nary a bad word about it. I agree we need to wait to see if it will be available and have longevity
@ Absolutely, I’m sure the motor/battery system is excellent, as I said already. I’ve just never seen quite so many people jump on a hype train justified or otherwise.
Personally, as mentioned in this video, the motor is a secondary consideration for me; I’d take an amazing bike with a Shimano motor over an average bike with the best motor… I just don’t quite understand the hype just over a motor 🤷🏼♂️
Beastly eMTB but sadly beastly price here in Oz. I'll take a 300cc MX bike sorry!
interesting, When I first subscribed years ago it was when pinkbike was sold and then the loam wolf came out and I thought hey, a alternative channel, but I haven't found myself watching any videos so i clicked through the uploads and realized its all ebike reviews. where you always just ebikes?
No, we still do normal bike reviews.
@@TheLoamWolf what? why?
@@TheLoamWolf Actually it don't matter. cheers. I'll have to remove my sub though.
Go ride what you want. I will ride what I want etc etc
Well, maybe we’ll see you again next month when we drop our other “cheater bike shootout” Downhill Bike Group Test.
Not being available in a small is really really disappointing.
According to another video the bikes are on the smaller side, so "m" might still fit if you are used to "s" normally, probably worth to give it a try still
Can we call it a dirt bike yet? Or maybe next year when a competitor comes out with 150 nm of power???? Or the year after 200 nm???
Nah not until it gets throttle, 100lbs extra weight, and foot pegs instead of pedals
It's 10k and speed limited, so it's an eMTB. Dirt bikes are faster and cheaper obviously.
lol at least be knowledgeable before you post. We are way way past 150 watts
@ sorry meant nm of torque ha
Hahaha. And make way cooler sounds.
Deff that bike should be on 2025 bike shootout
All the other traditional MTB manufacturers should be embarrassed. DJI, not even in adjacent industry, but a drone and camera company, comes in on the first try and buries them all. Now all the “light weight” low power MTBs look stupid and a waste of money. Then again so do the full power ones compared to this bike
For being their first go at it, it’s very impressive
But as a MTB er I don't mind about that power. I prefer having 1/3 of the power and having a good handling bike.
It's not just about put a powerful motor in the bike
Why are you reviewing a bike thats not available here?? and may not be here for some time????
A large portion of our audience lives outside of the US, and they can get their hands on the bike. And, initially when we received the bike and put it in this group test, Amflow was hoping to be available in the US in Q4, but things have since changed.
@@TheLoamWolf Any new updates on when it will be in the US?
@@timpfluger I think it was reported as Q2 2025. So not that long of a wait... If you can get one before they go on back order lol.
Hi Sir..
