  • The trend with newer vehicles is it is becoming more difficult to change out the factory head unit. The most basic form of integrating into a factory system, like when installing a simple amp and sub is adding a line output converter to the stock system to obtain signal.
    Audio Control's LC2i allows you to grab signal from a factory system and be able to compensate for bass roll off so you don't lose sound quality.

    I just happened on this channel and this is the most explanation I have gotten on these LC's. I have the LC7i, I'm still not understanding 'summing'? What can you tell me about it?

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  4 роки тому

      Basically you can combine channels if they're crossed over.
      For example a factory amplified system the tweeters may only play highs and the the speakers midrange and lower. You can combine the channel input by moving jumpers to get full range signal.

    Thanks for the video! What if I only wanted to use front speakers and a subwoofer (with a 4ch amplifier)... would this work? I would grab the signal from the rear speakers. Or would I need the LC7i?

    added to an aussie ve ss ute. to replace the fascia for any aftermarket was going to cost $600-700 omg no way plus another headunit.
    this connected to my factory setup and it really noticeable on my aux in with the phone and DAC.
    car looks stock but sounds clean and cranks. did'nt need as much gain on my amps as well. worth every penny

    Great video, I was wondering how to actually connect wires to the terminals for speaker in and power in, they seem to all have the same terminal type, Do I strip off some insulation and just insert the exposed copper wire into the terminal and screw it in or what do I need to use? A ferrule? spade connector?

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  7 років тому +1

      They're pretty small and they have a guard where the set screw compresses the wire. I just go bare wire in, just don't strip the insulation back too much.

    Hi Anthony,
    Great video, keep em coming.
    My query comes from another video I watched recently stating it's better "NOT" to grab the sub signal from a stock sub speaker, to utilise the Signal Sensing circuitry. As the stock sub sometimes stops producing voltage due to lack of movement, which intern switches the amp off. Does this sound plausible to you, and/or have you ever come across this issue?

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  6 років тому

      M Francis Yup that can be an issue if you're using signal sensing. To counter that find a 12+ switched line to turn the setup with the vehicle.

      You can just tap into them. As long as it sounds good with the factory sub still working. If you have to disconnect the sub you have to install a load generator device to keep the amp happy.

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  8 років тому

      Sisco Sosa Well it does have a main output and a bass output. I just use this thing from monoblocks or 2 channels, but I suppose it would work for a multichannel amp but the LC7i or LC6i is the proper application.

    • @siscososa168
      @siscososa168 8 років тому

      +AnthonyJ350 Ok so I just got the specs for my factory headunit, output to the front speakers are mids and highs... output to the rear speakers are full range... and output to the rear deck speakers are low bass... so than that means I will need a lc7i right? And also how would be the best way to connect the speakers for my 4 channel.. I know for my bass amp I'll tap into the bass output speakers.. just want to know which speakers to tap for my 4 channel?

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  8 років тому

      Sisco Sosa The cool thing is you can sum the signals in an LC7i. So I would just grab front and rear, then sum everything together so you get full range coming out the RCA's. You'll lose fade but who cares.

    i have a factory sub on my car. should i just tap into the sub line to get signal to install an aftermarket sub? or will it be better to tap on the rear speakers for signal?

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  8 років тому

      That's usually where I go for signal. Try not to use signal sensing when going at the sub, because sometimes factory units pause just long enough it will want to turn off the amp. Use a switched power signal to turn on the LC2i and turn off the GTO sensing.

  • @michaelc4225
    @michaelc4225 7 років тому

    So overall if I have a stock and integrated car stereo system (2010 Ford Focus w/ Sync) this would be perfect to add a subwoofer amp connected to dual 15-inch subs? I will disconnect the existing subwoofer from the factory and tap into the rear audio speakers... not the existing subwoofer factory audio wiring?

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  7 років тому

      Michael C If you're using the Audio Control piece tap into the sub woofer signal if you have a sub. You can tap into the rear speakers but you need a full range signal and since you have a sub it's possible the speakers might be crossed over not playing the lower tones.

    Hi, If you have a regular cheap line out converter and I am using the factory subwoofer channel speaker wires, I would I still have to buy a lc2 or just use a cheap regular line out converter (Because since it being a subwoofer channel I thought the freq&signal would be in the sub channel without using a lc2 using the front and rear wires and doing those adjustments on the other audiocontrol converters

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  8 років тому

      +calvinchoe100 You can just use the line output converter you have. You do have to be careful because cheap ones can't take that much voltage, and the sub woofer (even factory) will have a good amount of voltage coming out of it, potentially wrecking the line output converter over time or immediately.

    I have the same truck and idk what they put in it but whoever put the system in it got the rcas that are going to the 4 channel amp also going to the subs well the amp for the subs it sounds pretty good but if I put the 4 channel amp on full instead of hi or low the door speakers sound like they gonna blow up bc of the bad going threw them

      You want the HPF turned on for the speakers and LPF switched on for the subs in your setup at the amp. Best thing is to not mess with the original installer's setup if it sounded good to begin with.

      AnthonyJ350 do i turn bass and treble all the way down on the head unit while tuning? And do i adjust bass and treble from bead unit later on or leave bass alone and turn up treble? Also, theres a delay for the bass to kick in at higher volumes, why is that? Acubass too high?

      this is the information pertaining to the sound system my truck has:
      The 2004−Current Nissan Titan Crew Cab features a Rockford Fosgate 400 Watt RMS, 10-speaker audio system including these advanced features:
      DSP Tuning precisely tailors audio signals to each speaker
      Long-Throw Subwoofer provides great excursion and deep bass
      Dual Voice Coils (DVC) allow the subwoofer to handle larger amounts of power
      Sealed Enclosures provide a tight, controlled bass response
      Balanced Dome Tweeters offer excellent high-frequency performance
      does that mean i have to use a LOC that can handle up to 400 watts per channel? or?
      also i appreciate your quick reply!

    Hey I had one of these lc2i for over a year now. They work great but is it possible to make a video on how to tune them along with the amp? Also for some reason when I play music at a low volume, the bass plays really low. But if I turn it up and then low again the bass is extra loud. How can I fix this problem with the lc2i?

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  8 років тому

      +LegitMods4u Well that's usually what happens when you turn the volume up. It gets louder. If it's getting a little loud for you at higher volume, you can get their remote gain control and you can turn the bass down a little at higher volume.

    • @LegitMods4u
      @LegitMods4u 8 років тому

      +AnthonyJ350 the problem is that the bass this goes up and down randomly. Its like I'll play music normally and out of no where the bass comes on really loud.

      @AnthonyJ350  8 років тому

      LegitMods4u Ahhh, your Accubass might be up too much. There's also a threshold dial on the side (it's very small and a white dial). You can try adjusting the engagement point. Also try turning the accubass knob down a little.

    Will these output a flat, full range signal, no matter what bass &/or treble settings you change on the HU, or will the HU settings affect the signal?

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  8 років тому

      +BLaQz84 If the curve changes on the speaker you're grabbing signal from it will affect it. I was playing around with it and if I fed too much bass signal in from the head unit and didn't sound good.

    • @BLaQz84

      +AnthonyJ350 So u were better off adjusting the gain via on the converter & amp, as opposed to the HU?

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  8 років тому

      BLaQz84 Ya I tend to flatten out the factory head unit and I keep the gain low at the LC2i if I can and try to get everything done at the amp. I will bring up the gain at the LC2i if I think it's too quiet.

      fifty 9755 You can get signal from the head unit or factory amp. You can feed the signal from the main output to channel 1 and 2 ( and set 3 and 4 to grab off those channels as well, you'll loose fade) and hook up the bass output to sub. I wouldn't sum left and right like I did here, grab actual left and right signal.
