Will It Move. Seeing that Manitou bought back memories for me as back in the day I drove a Manitou MB 25P, Based on an International tractor with a Perkins engine and a Shuttle Gearbox. It was the one with the Sliding Counter Weight.
I've got one and runs like a dream- we bought it 1985 and it was a year old then . Built around a Ford 4000 - I put new brakes in it a few years ago and there Ford 4000 brakes. I found out the Manitou dealer had a new central mast for it - he sold it to me cheap ( who else would buy it) . It would great to see it running.
Yes, please do a tlc vid on this. And I am absolute on board with how and why You do what. If this is cheap, get it, find the fault(why it´s parked) and use it. Seems like a good purchase. And by the length of this it was clear to me that it would light up proper. I liked it anyway.
As a regular forklift operator this project has me fully fired up! This is some beast compared to what I'm used to running and will be great to see if you can find the parts and get it 'forking' once again, I reckon it will come right back around good luck.
Mukka. Your videos are so funny. You must take ages editing, the comedy clips in. I'm in absolute stitches, laid here convalescing. Your no nonsense approach, is absolutely perfect. Get her driving pal. She will move ! I'll bet you £100.
would love to see project manitou , if you take measurements off the mast channel and carridge you should be able to get bearings ordered ,did that with a old climax.
I used to drive one of these on the first farm I worked on which was over 20 years ago. It was brilliant, very reliable. It must have been bigger than this one you've got there, though, as it had a sliding weight over the engine. We had a 2 ton grain bucket for it and using it to clean out the cow shed every spring was fun, pulling wheelies ripping out bucketfuls. 😁 I'd be interested to see if you can get yours to move. Driving it in top gear down the road was scary cos the steering was super sensitive and so made it oh so easy to tip over. Not that I ever did, lol. But I often broke walls with it. 🥴🤣
Well i thought it would start easily enough with its international heritage but to find an old Ford in there was quite a shock. They were good old fork lifts them mucka so you must progress...👍
I’ve lost my mate to discuss your videos with now he spoke so highly of you rip zach. Them old rough terrain counterbalance forklift was all we had before the Sanderson teleporter come along revolution the job.
I'm still at a loss as to know what to think or do. To be honest both Nick and I agreed there is nothing we can do but it's still so unreal. I don't know.
First forfklift i repaired was a manitou that was some 30 years ago nice to see one with all the cab on it. Be nice to see it back in service doing its thing
Wil lit move . Yes I would like to see project Manitou. They are are very good fork lift, Mucka. In Australia I have only seen Perkins engine, in the Manitou's, which were a good engine.
Never got to use a mani as we had a Coventry climax and a sanderson As main yard trucks a rear mounted mast fitted to an old 135 fergi was the main field used unit
I have a 1985 mb26, built on a 4 cyl Ford skid. 6610 I think. Works every day in my workshop. I changed the mast bearings about 3 years ago. They were available but expensive. I also have a bt420 which is currently being recommissioned. In the past I have also owned an mb25 international with perkins 4236, not the nicest to operate as it was really heavy and there wasn't a neutral on the shuttle. I have also owned a sanderson sb55 built on a 3 cyl Ford skid.
Excellent video and you got it running ,so another one saved . Looking forward to the next one "will it move" I think it will turn out to be a good machine . All the best Mucker.
Got to start with , will it move before I forget, Great video to watch , such a sweet, crisp engine , did a bit of work with one of these forklifts years back & I really liked it , seemed a good tool & very strong on the lift capabilities. The one I used had no torque converter, just selected one of 3 gears & a reverse gear if I remember correctly 👍😊Had a good turning circle too. Thanks for the video 😊👍👍👍👍👍
Love to see you get this going properly. We had a 4wd version in 1977 but the Internash 45HP engine. Used to build a new farmhouse, lifting stone for the facing up to the third storey. Kept it around the farm for a while afterwards but when we tried it with a buckrake at silage time it didn’t have power to move on the pit and had to be dragged off. Traded it off at Dobsons in 1980 for an MF 565. Believe it went down to Dorset.
A brilliant machine. We had the ih version. Great for going in old buildings we had on the farm. Was a wonderful, simply machine to use and easy to work on. Cheers hope you are able to get it going.
What a loyal little beast, fired up like it was only parked the day before, how many new tractors/telehandlers etc of today will be that easy to get back to life in 40 years time 🤷🏽♂️
Yes, more Manitou please. What is the third hydraulic valve for? There's no handle fitted to it. I noticed there is a hose reel on the mast, possibly side shift was fitted at one time? I bet you have far more trouble moving the Range Rover out of the way!🤣🤣
That Mani, was registered after I joined the trade. The first place I worked we had a Mani that was at least 10yrs old then... Steering was wonky, would wander down road, but would start and run the 4 miles to storage w/h every day sometimes 3X/d. Nobody took care of it 'cos it just went on and on... Oh btw Yes it will work!!!!!!!!!
If you struggle to find the Manitou specific parts mucker, you need to find a local forklift dealer with a TVH account - they all do except one man band outfits like me. TVH are your best bet, they are about the only supplier of aftermarket forklift parts in the world because they've bought up all the competition and shut them down 😂 But they support older machines longer than the OEM's do. Definitely try to find a parts manual, there cross matching iant always the nest and having OEM part numbers makes all the difference.
Perfect in a yard moving bales about, no need for a 100k John Deere to feed the animals, it’s still got many years left in it even if you spend £800, don’t even need the door on it
Nice one Muck . I remember these on the first building site I worked on in 1987 😮 TVH Group based in Belgium but UK depot and worldwide do an amazing range of spares for so many different makes and types of lifting equipment and plant .
Of course we want to see it move, I thought that was the whole idea of getting it fkin started, was to move it and see if it can be put back into use. 😉
Just now getting a chance to watch (8 hrs late) and by looking at the comments, I'm going to assume we will be seeing a small series of the old girl getting some TLC and possibly lifting again, lol Thank you for sharing!
Will It Move. Seeing that Manitou bought back memories for me as back in the day I drove a Manitou MB 25P, Based on an International tractor with a Perkins engine and a Shuttle Gearbox. It was the one with the Sliding Counter Weight.
Anything that fires off that easily, deserves a little love. Carry on smartly!

Yes, more Manitou please. What is the third hydraulic valve for? There's no handle fitted to it. I noticed there is a hose reel on the mast, possibly side shift was fitted at one time? I bet you have far more trouble moving the Range Rover out of the way!🤣🤣
It's literally that - a third service for a toe-tip bucket or grab etc.
Bring it on Mucker....save the old iron, no one else will...cheers..... more collie action😅, peace.

Yes, let’s see what it can do. Of course you can get it to move. You’re a wizard 👏👏👏
A wizards sleeve...
@@LordMuck
😂😂😂😂😂😢
It< worth spending some money on it. They are a very useful machine especially in a workshop or in a machinery salvage situation.
It would be great to see if it could do a working day again. It was great to hear it start after standing abandoned
Will it move please Mucka please. Good to see the dog too.
Definitely go to next level you got it started now to get it moving. That was a nice easy start they don’t make em like that anymore.
Easiest one yet 👌🏼
Will it move! Take care & stay safe.

Absolutely show how the old forklift comes out! Great video sir
