    Great idea! Hard to believe the KTM engineers missed that one.

    Will you design a skid plate that will work with a center stand, a center stand or perhaps a skid plate that integrates a stand in it's design?
    Great videos and you are local.

    It's pretty mind boggling that something like that got by the engineers that built such a great bike! I wonder if the wobbly foot peg mounts will ever be addressed with a factory fix?

    Without your skidplate, how do we avoid pivoting of this footpeg?

    Thank you for the video. Question: do i haber to drop the whole skid plate when changing oil on ktm 890 adv r, or can i just remove the oem wing to access the oil filter? Thx

    Grate skid plate, I will consider it for my 890 R. Have you though of adding a couple UHMW strips to the bottom of the skid plate for sliding over logs, I seen this feature on a couple other skid plates.

      @galehess6676 Рік тому

      Yo Adrian, what is the "W" in "UHMW?" I am building a skiddie and this sounds like a great idea but I need the right material. Building my own means welded one piece, no bushings, separate pieces etc... don't be race ready, be adventure ready :) thx

    Does this fit a 21 890?

    Bought 2021 890 ADV R and had the exact issue with clocking footpeg mount and cracked mid-case. Had 430 miles on it and hit my footpeg mount on a rock. Thought I just cracked off footpeg, and all of a sudden, oil pouring out. $6800 shop bill. Yay insurance. Just wanted to reinforce that this issue is real. Took 4 months to get my brand new bike bike. Now it has 470miles headed into cold northeast winter. : (

      The struggle is real. Sorry to hear about your bike. Also sorry to see that KTM has not fixed the issue on the 890.

    If a center stand was installed would that brace and support that foot peg area and prevent that damage from happening?

    • @CamelADV
      @CamelADV  4 роки тому

      It would be better than nothing. It ties the footpegs together (loosely) so it would help a bit but it won't keep them from both moving back.

    To do oil change would you remove the silver bracket from the foot pegs or just leave the silver bracket on the bike and remove the black plate from it?

    • @CamelADV
      @CamelADV  Рік тому +1

      You can simply remove the skid plate but leave the mounting bracket attached.

  • @showmytime9177

    I bought one and installed it, but it requires the removal of the tank guards for an oil change and those require the removal of the crash bar I installed.
    Any method of removing just the bottom plate while leaving the tank protectors on?

    • @CamelADV
      @CamelADV  Рік тому

      You probably can but it's likely as much work to do it that way.

    Do you have to remove the skid plate to change the oil?

      Am I correct in assuming the lack of an answer to this question means that the skin plate needs to be removed to change the oil?

    HI, WHY IS YOUR OIL LEVEL TO HIGH ??????

    • @daltondaniel9253
      @daltondaniel9253 2 роки тому

      I read somewhere where the oil comes a little to low from the factory and starves the gear box so that’s why I’m guessing he added more.

    I've heard of this case cracking issue. Horrible design! Maybe now its made in china, the redesign will include a rubber widget to keep the engine case from cracking. Glade I bought an Africa twin.

    Be good if you sold the bracket to stop the pegs moving separately.

    • @CamelADV
      @CamelADV  3 роки тому

      The skid plate IS the bracket that keeps the pegs mounts from moving. The skid plate ties the peg mounts into the front of the bike, keeping them from rotating backward.

    • @dannywade1783
      @dannywade1783 3 роки тому

      Looked like the bracket at the back of the skid plate did the bracing but I guess the skid plate would hold it together.

    • @CamelADV
      @CamelADV  3 роки тому

      @@dannywade1783 All of the parts are required to make it work. The bracket stabilizes the peg mounts side to side (much less of an issue) and of course ties them into the skid plate.

    Seeing that flex in the foot peg bracket is enough for me not to want to buy a 790. Add to this the weak ass instrument/headlight mounting tabs on on the neck. I would happily have my bike weigh a few more kg's and not have issues like these. On the plus side, these problems are "opportunities" for the Camel ADV.

      Love the Gut Guard! Very solid and it braces those footpegs nicely. Camel ADV was super helpful when I took the typical "don't read the manual" philosophy. Great customer support, plus Great product gets 2 thumbs up for me!
