    Just did my insulation last night.
    I was a little intimidated after first looking at the video.
    Chris did an excellent job with the instructions and he has a great sense of humor.
    Did the insulation last night and everything went smooth.
    WOW! I could not believe how much more noticeable power I gained.
    It also noticeably changed the sound of the bike.
    Thank you Chris!

    I just installed this intake system on my 790 AR. This video instructional is really good and very thorough. My stock intake was pretty tough to break free of the throttle bodies but its no big deal and Chris mentioned that some may experience that. Thanks for the video and thanks for making such amazing products for these machines.

    • @RottweilerPerformance
      @RottweilerPerformance  3 роки тому +2

      Thank you James! Glad you got it worked out. Basically the velocity stacks can get stuck a little to the throttle bodies and worst case they just pull out from the stock airbox and then you just pull them directly off of the throttle body.
      Thank you for the positive sentiments on our products and comments like those are what keep us innovating!

    I came down to your shop today and bought the intake. Impressive place you have and the gentleman at the counter was helpful.
    I did install it today, the frame was a little difficult to get back together and the seat was difficult to get back on but I think it will be fine. Very noticeable difference in sound and power. Thank u for the video!!!!

      That's awesome news and we are really glad you loved the results. Nothing should be changed in the seat category so we are thinking that was just a fluke but that's what these videos are for so people can see directly what is going on with the install and that many times it's not as hard as they thought.

    Thanks Chris for the excellent tutorial! It helped a LOT in getting my intake installed without any fuss. I did not disconnect the rear wiring harness, not really needed but doing so takes it out of the way of any potential damage. I did have dust dust leaking into the stock inner air box but as I bought the bike used not sure how much. It was pretty messy. :( Now I need to install the Arrow Decat and hope the weather will cooperate so I can go out and ride!!!!

      You got it and that's the point of these videos! Glad it helped. The V stacks aren't that hard, and I would add to those reading this to lubricate them with Windex or WD40. Something that will dry up shortly. They will pop right on with some of that on the inside. Makes things so much easier. It's the band clamps falling off that are a bit frustrating but over time you'll get the technique. Problem is most people only do this once LOL. I've done it 50 times by now so I know the tricks!

    Love your stuff just bought a rally however I’ve noticed a few guys complaining about the noise on the 1290 intake take kit is this going to be similar?

    • @RottweilerPerformance
      @RottweilerPerformance  3 роки тому +5

      Opening up the intake does make a bit more noise, but on this bike it's under the seat and around the same area as the muffler so not so much in your face like some other models. The price of performance is not always sound as in the case of mapping and ignition advance with a Power Commander V but gains from an exhaust or intake will obviously add some decibels to the exchange. 99.9% of our customers love the intake sound, and the other .1% want a sewing machine so in that case we would encourage them to keep it stock.

    • @FATBIKEMIKE
      @FATBIKEMIKE 3 роки тому +2

      The 1290s definitely a different location,and I’ve only noticed on my friends 1290 adventure when you’re wide-open throttle. It’s hard to deny the performance benefits that’s for sure!!! Did you do a Dyno run with just the intake no mapping?

    • @RottweilerPerformance
      @RottweilerPerformance  3 роки тому +2

      @@FATBIKEMIKE Yes we did. The 790 with the intake system just dropped in is a solid +9HP at around 6300 RPM as measured on our dyno, same bike, same time, same dyno. The 890 was around +6 HP around that same RPM just dropped in. Solid gains throughout as well.

    There are some issues with mounting this on a Norden 901. The temp sensor extends out and interferes with the sun frame. Specifically the metal price that holds the rubber bushings for the body panel. It has to be taken off and cut or ground to make room for the sensor.

    • @RottweilerPerformance

    • @RottweilerPerformance
      @RottweilerPerformance  3 роки тому +2

      @@ministrant4220 Remapping is done through a Power Commander V. We have many choices of free maps when you get them through Rottweiler Performance and we will also set them up for free as well before we ship. See the intake page linked here and read the description for mapping the 790 or 890 Adventure. This should help you decide what you want and get going fast. The PCV is plug and play and elicits really impressive performance gains on those models. www.rottweilerperformance.com/rally-edition-full-intake-system-790-890-adventure-all-gloss-finish/
      Essentially, it say what is copied below:
      MAPPING INFORMATION For those of you who would like to know more about mapping the 790 and 890 engines, we have provided the information below to help you understand the options for that bike in terms of controlling the fuel. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to call us. We are happy to help!
      Do I need to remap with a Power Commander for this intake system? Absolutely not. The gains mentioned above were completely stock and the factory ECU easily compensates the fuel using the stock narrow band O2's to keep your air fuel ratio at a safe 14.7. Hours of dyno testing, real world data logging and static load runs showed that the stock ECU safely, easily and quickly adjusts to any configuration with protective measures like ion knock sensors and other methods. You are completely safe to install this air box and enjoy the ride.
      So I'm safe, but are there more gains with additional mapping using a Power Commander V? Absolutely, and we have been burning the midnight oil to bring you even more mapping to support your desired combinations than ever before. Simply choose the map that is closest to your final configuration and we will load the map(s) for you for free! For more information on the benefits of mapping please see our mapping options section below.
      What's the difference between STREET and RACE maps?
      A STREET map will allow the user to keep their stock narrow band O2 sensors plugged in and does not interfere with emissions based mapping and only has fueling changes in the open loop section of your fuel map where the stock ECU will not try and override the changes. This serves riders wanting to stay in compliance with emissions standards and retain their cruise control while still benefitting from ignition advances throughout and fueling corrections in open loop.
      A RACE map is designed for closed course racing purposes so that the user can have full control over the entire map range. The use of maps designated as 'RACE MAPS' require the stock narrow band O2s to simply be unplugged so that the stock ECU will not be able to read them and override the map and correct the trims back to an emissions based 14.7 air fuel ratio in the closed loop section (see attached chart in the pics above). Unplugging the stock narrow band O2s will only cause cruise control on the 790 Adventure will stop working and an engine light on the dash will appear. Engine lights typically only warn of blinkers not working or emissions systems unplugged. You will still get important warnings on the dashboard in bold letters. This can be easily reversed if the stock narrow band O2s are plugged back in.
      What is the difference between MODERATE and ADVANCED maps?
      Moderate ignition advances are just that. They are designed to be a bit of a bump in power without pushing the limits. What we have found is that KTM typically ships some street homologated bikes with very mild ignition curves. We assume that this is because they cannot predict what kind of fuels will be available to the customer in their given part of the world and the engines can easily take some more ignition advance and take advantage of some extra power.
      Advanced ignition curves are created using standard U.S. 91 octane rated pump gas fuel, the close equivalent to 95 RON. The ignition advances in these maps have been taken as far as safely possible using sophisticated knock sensing equipment. These maps will usually yield even more hidden horsepower but it is recommended that the user only run a minimum 91 octane fuel (95 RON) or equivalent. These maps DO NOT require race gas. It is recommended to use these maps in conjunction with a Dynojet Map Switch and another map with the same configuration but milder ignition advances so that the user can dial back the advance with the flick of a switch in such a case that lower octane fuel is necessary or ends up in the fuel tank. It should also be known that the 790/890 Adventure models do have knock sensors in the coils, which in the case of accidental lower octane fuel the bike will handily adjust and protect itself.

    Great product development as usual :). Any idea if this invalidates your KTM warrantee?

    • @RottweilerPerformance
      @RottweilerPerformance  3 роки тому +2

      This answer is really subjective and differs by country or area. Believe it or not, in our decade of making intakes we have not heard of invalidation of warranties very often if at all, and depending on what country you live in there are laws preventing manufacturers from denying warranties based on modifications that clearly don't have much to do with the reason for the warranty in the first place. This one will have to be up to you but the ironic part is that if you don't want to risk a warranty denial, you need to stick to the stock airbox, which will almost guarantee you having to try and warranty a wasted motor because the stock airboxes are notorious for leaking dust. Most people feel it's safer to safeguard the engine first, and then if there is a serious enough issue that isn't related but you just want to hedge your bets against any complications, just put it back to stock before you bring it back to the dealer for inspection.

The PCV is not hard enough to install to warrant a video, but we have made about 90% of our own instructional for installing the PCV on the Adventure. • @RottweilerPerformance
      @RottweilerPerformance  2 роки тому

      Breathing on your bike will void the warranty with KTM. That will eventually be up to your relationship with your dealer whether they will help you out or not, but the truth of the matter is that no manufacturer can legally void a warranty if that can't positively link the issue to the modification. Look up 'Magnussen vs Moss' law.
      I don't quite understand your second question but what I think you are asking is will your stock alarm still fit and the answer to that is yes.

    doesn't the crankcase breather makes a big mess inside the air-box? The oem one has a lithe case where all the gunk gets trapped..great video.

    • @RottweilerPerformance
      @RottweilerPerformance  2 роки тому +1

      If you overfill the crankcase, then yes it will. It's sort of harmless and just coats the inside of the airbox if it pukes, but running a breather on a catch tank is most ideal if you are going to do that, otherwise you have an external breather that is dripping oil. If you don't want to run a catch tank, then just get some 1/2" ID (12mm) hose and run it high so any mist can't really get up that high where the filter is.

      Philip, the nuts are nylock nuts and the bolts are slightly long so there is no way they will every come loose. You are welcome to Loctite those if you wish, but it is not necessary. We sometimes tell people, "Think about this: there are also about 50 lubricated bolts spinning inside your motor with no more than torque on them, and no one is worried about those", just to put things into perspective.

    I have a question. I live in a rainy country what if the rain water gets into the intake? Is it ok that the filter gets wet but not totally soaked?

    • @RottweilerPerformance
      @RottweilerPerformance  2 роки тому

      Absolutely. Over the last few years we have sold probably 30,000 intake systems. We just don't ever really hear about any issues from rain or water crossings. At one point the owner actually took a fully open garden hose to the top of a down draft filter system on a 990 Adventure and it ran for about a solid minute, and then started to gurgle just a little bit, at which time we took the filter off by hand, wiped out the water, fired up the bike and had no issues. The system on this bike is even better because the filter is lower than the intakes, so water would have to travel up hill to get into the combustion chamber which is almost impossible. Additionally, a bit of water on the filter itself is just fine. We know thousands of our customers have traveled through the most amazing weather patterns, and just don't have any problems.
      Another thing to add is that in deep water crossings, if a bike is somehow submerged, getting water out of the intake tract is much easier than with stock, that can trap a lot of water inside which can be very difficult to get out. Almost all of our systems are removable by hand, so checking and wiping out water is extremely easy. Rain, you'll never have to touch it.

    I have the full Rottweiler with full Akra exhaust --but the "old" power plate style. Am I missing out vs the new system here? How much? Any kind of upgrade program? Would the PCV map need to be changed? Thanks.

    • @RottweilerPerformance
      @RottweilerPerformance  3 роки тому +1

      The Power Plate does a fantastic job at filtering dust, but is not in the same power increase category as the full system intake. That is shaped and built to do the same as the Power Plate in terms of dust protection, but carries a large horsepower gain as well. Roughly 10 horsepower to the tire at 6300 RPM as measured on our 790 test bike. Those are the major differences between the two in terms of what they accomplish power wise. The full carbon intake just adds some Formula 1 or Moto GP to the equation.
      If you bought the PCV from us the maps are always free so while you don't NEED to update the map in terms of safety, it's always a good thing and free. You just need to reach out to our tech line with your order number and we will send a free code. info@rottweilerperformance.com is where the inquiry (or enquiry if you are from the EU) should go.

      @@8andsk835 It just comes down to budget and what you are trying to accomplish. The Power Plate does an amazing job at dust protection, but doesn't carry the same power increases as the full intake which makes about 9hp at the tire without any mapping. Throw in looks, ease of filter changes on the road, simplification of the bike and the ability to run our 1.6 gallon fuel tank that's coming out in the next few months and the full intake is a win, win, win, win.

    How often do you think the filters should be replaced ?

    • @RottweilerPerformance
      @RottweilerPerformance  6 місяців тому

      As much as needed depending on your riding conditions. It’s really impossible to answer that question because of that. These systems are exactly the same as a dirt bike and the user just needs to keep an informed eye on things. If you still aren’t sure, more often never hurts and these filters are so inexpensive and packable there really isn’t much reason not to change them often and your motor will thank you for it. Same goes for stock or anything else. No real difference.

      If you are running a Power Commander V with a STREET map, you should not have a check engine light. If you are running a RACE map which requires that you unplug your stock narrow band O2's, then you will have an engine light. This is all spelled out on the pages on our site where the intake and Power Commander are for anyone reading this. If you are running a STREET map and still have a check engine light, just call us and we can walk you through steps to find out what that may be. It's usually something small just not plugged in and will go away after it is reconnected. Either that or you have an engine light for another unrelated reason.

      Not at all. Fuel injection is basically set to deliver a 14.7:1 air fuel ratio regardless of what is bolted on to the bike. You can install an exhaust, an intake, a decat and it will just compensate at 14.7 air fuel ratio all the time and does a great job at it and you will still make good power without mapping. That being said, there is a good amount of additional power available from mapping, but that is what will reduce your fuel mileage really. Not the intake. We have an auxiliary fuel tank coming that holds 1.8 gallons (6.8 ltrs) that fits right up to this intake so you can have your cake and eat it too.
