Left to right: Sisters, Vicki and Debbie Peterson, Susanna Hoffs and Micki Steele. Part of the report of it, regarding the internal tensions that developed within the group is the media based focus on Susanna as a lead of the group, whereas they considered themselves as equals. The close-up of Susanna doing the side-eye was her focussing on individual members of the audience - which she states was a way of countering her stage fright and she was unaware that the camera had zoomed in on her face at that moment. The moment became iconic. Debbie Peterson, here on tambourine, is usually the band's drummer and is the vocal lead in one of the band's other hits, 'Going Down To Liverpool', which is the home of The Bangles inspirational group, The Beatles.
Love the Bangles! They have several huge hits. Love Hazy Shade of Winter, very different take on the song, and Eternal Flame is one of my karaoke go-to songs! Also check out girl band The Go-Gos.
Their cover of Hazy Shade of Winter is a landmark record in my opinion. It was featured in the movie Less Than Zero, which was a defining film for GenX. Their harmonies over the hard AF guitar and drums are amazing.
Didn't hurt Trojan either. The only thing that comes close to it is the eye that Stevie Nicks gives to Tom Petty once or twice in the video for Stop Draggin' My Heart Around.
GoGos came first - very valley mid 80s. You got an Idris Elba swag - been up a while. Great reaction - subscribed. Try GoGos our lips are sealed. ❤️👍🏽👍☘️
2 other girl bands You should check out, Bananarama ( songVenus) and The Gogo’s (song vacation) and one girl from the Gogo‘s went solo Belinda Carlisle, ( song Heaven is a Place on Earth) and from the bangles manic Monday.
Never heard a tambourine dominant song? Check out Green Tambourine by the Lemon Pipers, a #1 hit in 1968. Another all girl band that play their instruments are the Go-Go's. Theit biggest hit was We Got The Beat.
Some of the 9/11 attackers were Egyptian. There are a lot of Muslims there and from there. That's really all it was. This song isn't offensive in any rational sense, but in times like those, rationality is out the window.
This was a bit of an off-brand song for The Bangles that they kind of resented, but it was massive for them. Great band though with a lot of good album cuts in addition to their singles. The album this came off (Different Light) is great, and so are the ones before & after it.
Please do "Hazy Shade of Winter. " It's a cover of Simon and Garfunkel, so it might be fun to do the original and then the cover right in a row. It's one of the few S&G covers that I think is better than the original, though both are very good.
If you want to see an amazing all girl band you have to checkout Fanny the 1st all girl band to be signed to a major label and they used to open for Led Zep back in the 70s and are still putting out music
The reason it was suggested not to play “Walk Like An Egyptian” shortly after the 911 Fiasco in The USA was one of the terrorists was known as “The Egyptian” in their terrorist organization, because he came as a jihadist from Egypt. In America, they referred to this terrorist using the same monicker as the Terrorist organization used to refer to him in particular. People were drummed-up (and probably rightly so) about mid-easterners - Saudi, and the radicalized Islamic nations of Iran , Iraq, Libya, and other areas of the Islamic world that kept attacking our sovereign Embassy compounds, killing, and beating our people, and terrorizing our tourists.
A 4 non Blondes suggest ? Superfly . a long time ago we went to a strip club for a bachelor party and this dancer comes on stage to this song . I asked her about the song - she said take her upstairs and she would tell me . $ 175 (for 45 min) later - lets just say I will never forget the song
I'm always just a little sorry when folks make Walk Like an Egyptian their FIRST exposure to The Bangles. It's fun, don't get me wrong....but almost any other track is better. That's just MY opinion, obviously.
YOUR THE ONLY ONE WHO SAID DANCE WTF ? READ THE TITLE AGAIN , WALK LIKE AN EGYPTIAN!! IN THE VIDEO NOBODY IS DANCING !! BUT , BETWEEN 2 POINTS THERE SEEMS TO BE EMPTY SPACE ,, YOU DO REMIND ME OF RICHARD CRANIUM.....
*You need to change your title from "Dance Like An Egyptian" to "WALK..."! Also, check out their "Hazy Shade of Winter"*

The Bangles actually did start the egyptian 'walk' phenomenon. The King Tut sketch starring Steve Martin on SNL is also great.
WALK LIKE AN EGYPTIAN

Yes.... the other 80s girl band - The Bangles.... Heart 70s and 80s.... were just two sisters and awesome both decades.

Walking Down Your Street
If She Knew What She Wants
I have a copy of this album signed by all four girls ... and YES, I grew up in the 80s and they were so much fun !! Best time to be a kid !!
That side eye by Susanna Hoffs kept Hanes, Jockey and Calvin Klein in business in the 80s.
Didn't hurt Trojan either. The only thing that comes close to it is the eye that Stevie Nicks gives to Tom Petty once or twice in the video for Stop Draggin' My Heart Around.

The 80s had the very best music!

Bangles! 🔥🔥🔥 They’ve got some other really good songs. Susanna Hoffs. ♥️♥️♥️

This song isn't offensive in any rational sense, but in times like those, rationality is out the window.
Yeah… it’s Walk. Lol
I'm pretty sure the dance came from this song. I don't know of anyone dancing like this before the song.
Now you need to do The Go-Go's and Bananarama.
