I was waiting for this exact review out of my own curiosity. Great job. I chose the Omen, it was replacing a 10+ yr old iMac, and I couldn't be happier with it. I did go back and forth a bit between these two, but happy with the Omen.
Owning both the G14 and Transcend 14 in their highest spec (i9 and 32GB with 4070) I have to say I prefer the G14. It's the nicest laptop I've ever used by a wide margin. The Omen, while nice, has a serious disadvantage in charging which takes up one of the USB C ports. It also underperforms with the same GPU because they're limiting the GPU to 65 watts. The G14 is 90 watts and it shows. If you're on the fence and the price is comparable, go for the G14 every time. The speakers alone set it apart.
I just bought the G14 4070 from Best Buy. I love the OMEN keyboard. But, the gaming performance difference is what drew me to the G14. Plus, I have had 2 prior generations of G14 (2nd and 3rd gen). One thing that one other reviewer of the OMEN noted was that USB-C charging was very finicky on what charger was being used if it was not the one included. Most USB-C charges in the their studio did not work. That was a concern for me as I have a ton of other USB-C chargers I have and use. My 2022 G14 is my work laptop and I just use a compact 65 Watt Anker charger and usb-c to usb-c cable to run the laptop and it works great since I don’t want to carry the larger charger included with my old G14 (and I’m not gaming at work).
I wonder if it's worth getting the Asus 100W usb-C charger for the G14 or if any 3rd party charger will do. Also, can you please share from your experience: 1. Did those usb-c chargers manage to give you the battery life+enough performance for your G14 on the go? 2. Did you notice any drop in battery life longevity after using those usb-C chargers for a while? Say you get now 4hr of normal web productivity compared to 7 hours when your G14 was newly bought?
@eladbari Hi. I also have an Asus Z13, so I have the 100W usb-c charger that came with that, and that works really well. I use my G14 as my DJ laptop, and I use the 100W charger for gigs as it works well with both laptops. The z13 is my backup laptop when I'm DJing. The battery does not discharge at all in that scenario. I bring my G14 to work as well (I'm a physician at UCD) and for my daily grind at work, it doesn't discharge with the 65W charger. I use MyAsus battery saver so it doesn't charge past 80% normally to help with longevity. I will charge fully if I anticipate I will have to work away from power and it will last for more than 4 hours.
@@chrisshinakadjredikulus7898 A Physician by day and a DJ by night? Niceee... :) Many thanks for you sharing your experience. That 80% limit to charging is a great tip. I wasn't aware of that. So this is my dilemma. The HP omen is absolutely fantastic to type on. the G14 wins at every other aspect. Should I sacrifice performance for usability? Or does the G14 win the round?

@basiqquddusi9601 must be around 5-6 hours of mix web browsing and UA-cam. On thermals it's really burning when playing games but I haven't noticed serious throttling yet.
You reference gaming...yet don't reference gaming performance...thermals while gaming. Why? Maybe throw in 1080p 1440p fps for something like Helldivers 2, Madden 24...Spiderman? Your real world comparisons are great...if this were a Macbook comparison...in which case the Macbook would be the buyers choice unless they prefer the Windows 11 environment. I was hoping you'd review everything you did review...which is useful...but also cover the additional reasons to buy either of these Windows devices. Video editing is important...but for the price...and considering this might be a students only device other than their phone...gaming might be kinda important.
Bro, this isn't a gaming channel. We're here for his review because he focuses on creators. The benefit of UA-cam is if one reviewer doesn't cover an aspect, you can watch another. No hard feelings 👍🏽
Thanks for the honest review about the TRANSCEND 14 OMEN that thing is a BEAST especially with Ultra Core 9 + 32 gb RAM + RTX 4070 for $2000 ! The G14 is only Ultra Core 9 + 16 gb RAM + RTX 4070 for $2000 :(
What separates laptops this year is the keyboard heat for me. G14 has unacceptable heat so it would be either Omen or Legion this year. Omen is king though for industrial design looks! Great job!
Did they fix the keyboard heat in the new g14? I can’t believe it’s even an issue. I had the original g14 with the 2060 and it was perfect but the keyboard burned my fingers. I hear the Omen 14 is actually the coolest 14 inch gaming laptop heat wise!

Need a dedicated video on legion 7i(2024) Also, Sir am confused between (custom builds) 5i pro/7i As per Lenovo India website and options available, I customized both with same specs, 32gb ram, i9 14th gen HX, 8gb rtx4070, 1 tb SSD. Am worried about the TGP and gaming on 7i bcoz of its size and vent positions and also the lesser wattage adapter at 230W whereas the 5i pro provides an openly declared 140W TGP, side vents and a 300 W adapter. However the 3.2k resolution on 7i with its white color is amazingly tempting AF but constrained at 165Hz whereas the 5i pro provides 240 Hz with WXQGA 2K panel (I chose the 100%DCiPe3 variants in both) Am into UX/UI but also don't want to compromise on gaming capabilities of my purchase. So pls help sir. A video on similar lines would clear the air for me!
As covered in the video & from my own personal testing the ASUS laptop destroys the HP. They're the same price but the ASUS has a higher TDP 4070 & much better cooling (3 fans & liquid metal) vs the HP. The Ryzen processor in the ASUS also smokes the HP's Ultra 9 from Intel in most cases. The ASUS just plays games better. I don't know what it is but it does. 44-51 fps in Subnautica max settings at 2880x1800 on the HP VS 61-75 fps same settings & resolution in Subnauitica on the G14 from ASUS. That's 20+ fps difference between the two. ASUS wins.
I'm surprised we care about sd card slots in a gaming laptop. Wouldn't you just simply prefer an m.2 upgrade? Theyre not exoensive and much faster for more storage...
Just a heads up they both have the exact same Samsung display. Asus just set the PWM much higher at 960Hz to enable G-Sync without adaptive sync messing with fluctuations in brightness as it would if it where any other OLED laptop.
you should only close/open laptops while holding the middle and not the sides. In time those hinges will break due to imbalanced force. It happense to all laptops except macbooks since macbook hinges are built in to the whole body
I have been searching for a PC replacement for my Mac Book 2012 retina because I need to run solidworks and apple no longer supports that machine. So I had purchased a new ASUS Zenbook 14 for $1500 from Best Buy but it only had the 4050 graphics card. I haven’t picked it up yet but thanks to your video I am going to canceled that order and I purchased a G14 instead with an RTX 4060 48gb/2TB drive for just a little more than the Zenbook. The 48gb of RAM might be overkill but I won’t have to worry about it.
I have the 2024 G14 and I can confirm that you can replace the SSD. I replaced the 1tb factory SSD (bought a Ugreen enclosure for that one and it will continue to serve as an external SSD) with a 4tb from Western Digital, which is amazing. Feels like I never have to expand storage again. 🙂
I was almost sold on the zephyrus, until I actually went to best buy and saw this HIDEOUS ugly thing. It reminded me of how my laptop looked back in early 2000s. I now start to understand why people buy macbooks... paying over $2500 and having to deal with FUGLY childish font on keyboard and super ugly body color is not for everyone. Asus, you had ONE job. On other hand OMEN is very mediocre looking, but acceptable, but PLASTIC??? seriously? The keyboard and front panel flex on it is INSANE, feel like cheap garbage
@ResidentO i have purchased zenbook pro, its lesser of evils, but I am returning that too. Proart is not bad at all, has best sound i have ever heard on laptop. Asus programmers should all be fired, all their aoftware is buggy AF
G14 my guy. The GPU power on the Omen maxes out at 65W(I believe don't quote me), while the G14 at 90W. Meaning you'll just get more power for your buck(even though they both have a 4070) out of the G14 in GPU. If you want even more, the 2023 model of the G14 maxes at 125W.
I thought I was the only one who was thinking this... Like it's not even close between price, build, and performance...G14 is clearly better... Yet he was so focused on how simplistic the omen looked compared to how "gamer" and flashy the G14 looked... I would say for most people that's the least of their concerns
Cant stress to people enough how bad HP laptops are they break pretty easily. Then also take a look at trust pilot and see HP customer service have 1.2 stars. This is because they won't help you if something breaks.

The G14 is only Ultra Core 9 + 16 gb RAM + RTX 4070 for $2000 :(
thats the g16
The g14 is AMD 8945hs RTX 4060 for 1599
What separates laptops this year is the keyboard heat for me.
@@brokenhero6828 I have an incoming order for the black one. :D stoked! It should be a blast to work and play on. Saw the glowing reviews from the toughest critics! This will be a boon on our burnt fingers! Can hardly wait.
@@babyblu5590 oooh the G14 or Omen?? I’m saving up for one right now
@@brokenhero6828 This time I'm getting an Omen Transcend 14 with 4070 for work and entertainment. It has everything I need and will transfer my 4TB Samsung 990 Pro to it. Should be hitting the sweet spot! Hope I get a unit in proper working order! Crossing fingers. I did not intend to buy yet but my experience with Asus has been terrible lately. Time for a change after having several Asus laptops over the years. I am stoked for you too. Hope you get one that you will love.
Do you still experience the heating on the keyboard?
i was waiting for this, lets goooooo.
hey Ben, which display can go brighter?
HP doesn't have gsync. Hugely overlooked feature.
I want G14 so bad but I heard that it has bad customer service
Can you please do a video comparing the g14 to the 2034 blade 14
The Omen's speakers weren't that great in person. When I tested the G14's speaker after the Omen I was quickly blown away lmao
I've had horrible experiences with HP products in the past as a whole. I will never buy another HP product again. That being said my wife just gifted me the G14, and man I just love this thing!
I bought an Omen 14, but it was the 155 variant and 4060 and its a nice machine but the throttling on that 4060 is very noticeable still solid but its more expensive than the G14, so the performance and longevity and speakers and price just is a win again for ASUS so I'm going back
Need a dedicated video on legion 7i(2024)
Also,
Sir am confused between (custom builds) 5i pro/7i
As per Lenovo India website and options available,
I customized both with same specs, 32gb ram, i9 14th gen HX, 8gb rtx4070, 1 tb SSD.
Am worried about the TGP and gaming on 7i bcoz of its size and vent positions and also the lesser wattage adapter at 230W whereas the 5i pro provides an openly declared 140W TGP, side vents and a 300 W adapter.
However the 3.2k resolution on 7i with its white color is amazingly tempting AF but constrained at 165Hz whereas the 5i pro provides 240 Hz with WXQGA 2K panel (I chose the 100%DCiPe3 variants in both)
Am into UX/UI but also don't want to compromise on gaming capabilities of my purchase.
So pls help sir. A video on similar lines would clear the air for me!
i think with 14900hx you will have 3 hours of battry, thats the main reason)) also this device will be warm, otherwise it is perfect
Thanks for the review man! :)
idk why i am still going to buy omen
So did you buy omen? If yes please let me know the cons of that device.
@@basiqquddusi9601 please don't buy that ..I am busy ryt now Please comment again after 5 hrs I will describe why
ASUS wins.
What is the solution to screen bounce for omen ?
Could you please review lenovo legion 7i 2024? (Non pro)
hey guys i live in turkey and hps 4070 variant have same price with g14s 4060 variant what should i go with ?
I don’t know which one to go with 😭 Omen is more in my price range but I will do a lot of video editing so G14 would be the pick.
I'm surprised we care about sd card slots in a gaming laptop. Wouldn't you just simply prefer an m.2 upgrade? Theyre not exoensive and much faster for more storage...
Screen bounce has been driving nuts in these new laptops.
Just a heads up they both have the exact same Samsung display.
Asus just set the PWM much higher at 960Hz to enable G-Sync without adaptive sync messing with fluctuations in brightness as it would if it where any other OLED laptop.
My g14 creaks loud when I open and close it…is this normal? Also when I’m gaming ….
No reviewer ever mentioned, get a replacement unit
Reviewers don't mention screen wobbling, but it is there...
@@Promikes literally every single reviewer mentioned the new G14 has above average wobble. Even this very video. Maybe focus more?
@@houssamalucad753 average wobble)
you should only close/open laptops while holding the middle and not the sides.
I am not the fence between them too, I do prefer to purchase a 4080.
Hey can you please tell me whether we can expand ssd on G 14 by replacing the existing 1 TB one with a 2 TB one? Does it support a 2 or 4 TB SSD?
I have the 2024 G14 and I can confirm that you can replace the SSD. I replaced the 1tb factory SSD (bought a Ugreen enclosure for that one and it will continue to serve as an external SSD) with a 4tb from Western Digital, which is amazing. Feels like I never have to expand storage again. 🙂
@@Jayguevara1982 thanks a lot man. Now I just have to wait for this laptop to launch in my country.
@@Jayguevara1982Which version G14? I'd like to buy one
A review on rog zephyrus g16 vs legion 7
13:54 you seemed to have colored a laptop that is right bellow the omen. Not a big difference, but still annoying
what about the lenovo legion slim 14.5"
Made a video discussing JUST THAT - ua-cam.com/video/2BndZrTjayM/v-deo.html
Looool the asus laptop feels lighter yet its heavier. Interesting…
I need help picking a labtop for graphic design can you help
After Asus's latest fiasco about their aftersales support and how they scam people, I'll go HP.
This guy just pisses me off, its very clear that the HP is overpriced, and G14 wins for anyone who actually cares about where they spend their money.
I thought I was the only one who was thinking this... Like it's not even close between price, build, and performance...G14 is clearly better... Yet he was so focused on how simplistic the omen looked compared to how "gamer" and flashy the G14 looked... I would say for most people that's the least of their concerns
£2.4K in the UK 💀🔥
Is this a review of two of the most famous gamer laptop that does not test games??
You bet!!! Creator benchmarks only here.
I’m glad i bought the lenovo legion slim 5 14”, in my opinion the best, no contest.
did you buy the 2023 version? how was the performance so far? is it ‘noisy’?
I'm thinking to do the same. The value of that thing is insane... in Italy it costs 1000€ less than the G14 and the OMEN :)
@@simonepiontini it’s a great bang for buck choice man! I’m surely happy with mine
Finally.
what's up guys
Bro has no idea how mass works
Thai Video Doesnt tell any about noise and thermals so complete useless video
Cant stress to people enough how bad HP laptops are they break pretty easily. Then also take a look at trust pilot and see HP customer service have 1.2 stars. This is because they won't help you if something breaks.
Yoo how is your lips doing that in 8:47
Whats the purpose of comparing laptops and putting the results in two diifferent graphs???? Come on man, do better. Just put them in one graph so we can have a clear comparison!
The HP looks like toy, not as prenium and stylish as the ROG.
