Bought the 2.0 and tested it with 100 rounds. Found it consistent with feeding issues especially the 12 magazine. Second time I went to the range I shot 100 rounds of ball ammo but this time brand new Blazer Brass no problems at all. So I shot 200 more rounds now for a combined round count of 350 rounds all ball and twenty defense rounds of Underwood Xtreme Defender rounds. Since the break-in not one malfunction at all. The only con is the factory front sight is not center so the gun shoots to the left. I even shot it from a bench rest taking away most of the human element. If I use Kentucky windage this gun shoots as well as any of my other micro guns in 9mm. We will see though how it stands the test of time.
@@redskins1120 Yes, but we are talking about flat nosed fmj. Not hollow points or ball ammo. I'm not aware of a Hellcat in .380. My Glock42 has never failed to feed flat nose. 🤷♂️
Nice comparison. I have both the Glock 42 and have been carrying an Sig P365 380 XL frame for sometime now. Loved my 42, but had to make many improvements including the sights. Bought the Bodyguard 2.0 and just today hit the range for a break-in. Shot 50 rds of round nose and 15 rounds of Hornady Critical Defense with NO issues at all. I am a small senior citizen with arthritis in my hands making it difficult to rack the Bodyguard. Additionally, I find the magazines very stiff and ultra difficult to load especially the last round. It’s a good shooter, but issues above will keep it out of my carry rotation at least until I find solutions that work for me. I added a slide plate cover with tabs to my 42 - made a world of difference!!!
That's too bad. My wife racks my Bodyguard 2.0 with ease. I did have to use a speed-loader to get my 12th round in when I first bought it, but after about 300 rounds, I can load it by hand. I own the Glock 42 as well, and it pales in comparison, like all the rest, to the S&W Bodygurard 2.0.
@@robertfrapples2472 Though I am right handed I taught myself to shoot left handed due to my arthritis. That said racking the 2.0 is my only real issue since I also use a loader when available. It is a really good shooter and I love the trigger. Waiting for appendix carry holsters and hoping someone makes a tab system for easier racking… Love the 2.0.
When you speak of trigger control, I was later trained to use the center of your trigger finger "pad". Before I was taught this, I had the same problem - only I was shooting low and left because my finger was too deep on the trigger and when I squeezed the trigger, there was a natural tendency to pull left and low. When I used the center of my pad, you"re pulling the trigger straight back and there was a dramatic improvement in accuracy. I was noticing that your trigger finger is deep like mine was. Just thought I would add that as food for thought.
Like nI said once before, "This is Not a Target Gun"! This gun is designed for use as a self defense carry gun, Period! Flat nose bullets are Garbage and really don't have an advantage in any hand gun! IMO, Good round nose ammo should be OK for all your self defense needs and not worth the money! The sights on this gun are lined up at the factory and can be verified by shooting from a Hand Rest and you should not be required to mess with them! I love Glocks and I carried a G19 as my Duty Weapon for over 15 years but as for this Bodyguard 2.0, I take this gun over the Glock! Thanks for the Video!
@alexwalker5645 I still like my Glock 42 better. Shoots better and easier. But definitely try it if you can. May work for you, just didn't for me unfortunately. I was really hopeful.
@ thanks for the reply!! I haven’t shot either myself, but I JHS r handled both amd where I’m very impressed with the Bodyguard, the Glock felt more at home to me.
The first thing I do when I get a new gun is clean & oil. The second thing I do is polish the feed ramp. The thied thing I do is put about 300 rounds through it. Good video!
Hey, you're at my range! Cool. So, this was honestly the BEST review of the BG2.0 that I've seen so far. Lots of great details. I don't like the feed ramp on the BG2.0, I don't like the front sight. I think I'm going to stick with my proven G42. Great job.
Thanks for making this video! That feed ramp on the bodyguard would keep me from buying it until it is fixed (doesn't jam on hollow points.) Reliability on a self defense weapon is paramount. Glocks always go bang when you pull the trigger, assuming you don't have a limp wrist and cause a failure to eject.
hi guys, I just had to tell you I love love love watching your channel and now I have some news that I didn’t see in any of the comments. Smith and Wesson has acknowledged that they know the barrel is off and causes shooting to the left, so if you call customer service, they’ll send you a new one.
Update to this original post. I had to send my gun in for repair to correct this issue. The turnaround time to get it back was about 8 weeks. A little longer than I had hoped but it shoots straight now! 😊
I purchased two of these. One worked flawlessly but the other jammed so badly on an unfired round that I had to force it to eject by pushing the front sight on the wooden table. It's off at S&W warranty now. Love the one that works!! It's in my pocket as I type.
retired LEO here from Staten Island. been looking at the 2.0 and the LCP max for summertime carry. absolutely the best explanation of feeding problems on the bodyguard 2.0. If I were you stav I would keep the big guy around a little longer. great great vid.
I can’t aim the LCP for sht and I win pistol marksmanship competitions. The Glock 42 shoots very well. If the 2.0 shoots as well as the Glock, I want one. If it shoots more like the LCP, no thanks.
They are definitely shipping with sights hitting left. I bought a sight pusher and moved rear sight slightly. Now it hits to point of aim. Also I run Winchester white box 95gr flat nose and have not had any issues.
only gun I plan on selling is one piece of junk that jams every bullet no matter the ammo....brand new too....will just speak to manufacturer to get replacement....but a different model for sure as they now discontinued it 😂
Great video and I've been waiting for this review. I have the G42 and probably will stay with it even if the Bodyguard is reliable. I'll be 79 in a couple of months and I'm at the point of trying to thin the herd, not increase it. Thus far the amount of rounds I've needed for SD is zero. I can carry my G26 or 19 if I think I need more capacity. And Glock triggers will always be "useable", but not great.
Same malfunction happen too for AR range who had one--happened over 30 rounds in a row-recommended he send it back since they have lifetime warranty on all their products
Thank You for this video comparison. I own a Glock 42 and had trouble racking it. A tactical racking assist device was installed. I can shoot it fine despite the arthritis in my my hands. I rented the Bodyguard 2.0 at the range. I had difficulty loading the mags, the gun was enjoyable and accurate to shoot. I hope there will be a assistive device for people who have arthritis.
Good to know about the shooting to the left with the Bodyguard. I fight that issue in general, but good to see two experienced shooters having that issue with a particular gun. Means that sight alignment isn’t always off the table in such a case.
Great video, got both too, carried the G42 for couple years as backup, bodyguard just retired it few months back, main EDC alternates between Sig 365 SC and MP Shield+ PC, some days I have to think for 5 min before deciding🙂
I have had three different Smith and Wesson M & P products do something similar to this. One was original Shield 9 mm. One was 357 Sig. Other was SD40. Would get occasional jams. 357 Sig worked flawlessly except with Federal HST. Would not eject. All other brands okay. Anyway all we’re fixed by taking Dremel tool and green jewelers polish. Light buffing of feed ramps and chambers made all 3 perfect. One gunsmith said Smith uses very good protective coating. Occasionally it can be few thousandths too thick. Anyway I would polish until ramps are smooth and no catch.
Thank you for the video! I am looking to buy the S&W Bodyguard 2.0, So I will be checking one out one in the next couple days to see how it feels, as I do have a larger hand….
Just grabbed a bd 2.0 today. So diggin this gun.. i like an idiot did skip the free range trip iffered when I purchased but i am pretty confident it will shoot well does have a very stout guide rod spring.. but otherwise seems like a legit pocket carry option
There are many Glock Haters out there (I have two Glocks the G19 and the 43x mos) but every time a company drops a new firearm they call it “the Glock killer.” Moving forward I had the G42 sold it a year later after the LCP max came out because of the 10-12 round capacity, and had a few issues with hollow points, I sent it back to Ruger they replaced the barrel and it’s been great since close to 900 rounds so far 👍🏼. Now comes along the BG2.0 with a 2 stage feeding ramp and YT is exploding on how great it is and that might be the case, but I’ll wait before I get rid of my LCP max. I did have the opportunity to hold at my local GS definitely feels great I won’t deny that.
@@Mike-4547glock been left behind a long time ago, only thing they got against other gun manufacturers is having more guns made for different ammunition. But other then that other gun manufacturers past them up a long time ago, Glock needs to innovate already or release a gen 6. @@TonySoprano-on5iu I purchased the BG2.0, spend some money on Critical Defense, Gold Dot hollow points, Hydra-shok, Flat-nose, and ball ammo, totally honest it ran like a champ, only thing I did have to push the rear sight over to the right, but other than that it was perfect. Thanks for another great video Stav and Mac. The bodyguards are flying out of the shops where I live so I have one reserved on the next shipment. My LCP Max is being sold
!@#$%^&*! All the LGS within 50miles have them on order but not a single one has come in! My go-to LGS tells me they have customers coming in everyday asking about them.
I haven't had mine out to shoot yet but after watching your failure to feed with the flat nose I checked my feed ramp out. On the frame, at the top of the ramp is a sharp ridge across the top which could easily snag a bullet! I have no clue if it's a defect, which in my opinion it is, or whether it has a purpose, like snagging bullets! I'm curious if mine is the only one like this, which I highly doubt. I'm going to file it off and polish it up. Also I had to drift my front sight like others as it definitely wasn't centered. Thanks for the videos!
I have it sighted in and filed and polished the feed ramp and it's fine now. I do stuff myself rather than have it tied up in Tennessee for weeks on end. Shoots pretty darn good btw
Again, Great video! More please on the BG2.0. My wife has an Equalizer with an EPS Carry Red Dot. She likes the gun. It is easy for her to rack. But I was thinking she may enjoy this gun more even without a red dot.
Great review! Also, thanks for the heads up on the two-stage feed ramp. Watched an earlier review of the Bodyguard on a different channel and that guy’s gun consistently jammed shooting Remington rounds.
Mac and Stav you did a great job highlighting these 2 guns. I was really interested in getting the BG to help new shooters get into the sport but that barrel design is like a 1911. For range work it would be fine but self defense (should it be needed) the EZ has a full feed ramp built in. Down side is only 8 rounds. Thanks for all you do. I share your channel with new female shooters bcuz you explain things so well. ❤️
I shot my 380 for the first time. Right out of the box. I shot over 200 rounds through it, had no malfunctions, and at first it was shooting to the left and the more I shot it the better it shot and I was hitting where I was aiming. I shot all kinds of ammunition through it, mostly the flat nose. Sometimes the way you hold a gun will cause it to malfunction.
Hornady XTP or FTX have minimal expansion typically and get pretty good penetration. The opened hollow point is often similar in size to a flat nose FMJ. Just an idea.
Thank you for the details on the feed ramp. Loading the magazines are challenging but it becomes easier over time; 10+1 and 12+1 configurations are not feasible for this pistol. However, 9+1 and 11+1 configurations are more dependable. My BG 2.0 front sight was misaligned out of the box by approximately .015 right of center, which caused my shots to veer left. Nonetheless, I've successfully fired 300 flat-faced rounds through my BG 2.0 without any issues.
I shot the the 2.0 a few days ago. Better trigger, better ergonomics, better capacity. Its not a big deal to change out the feont sight. Every manufacturer makes the high visibility in orange, yellow etc. Some work better based on visibility, background, etc. LCP max, trigger safety pinches my finger when I shoot it. I have a standard Bodyguard, it works if you practice, but the 2.0 is the way to go. Glock always works...
It's my undertsanding that this happens with a lot of 380s just because there can be so much variation in bullet shape and it's just so damn short. Add on top of that a very compact gun that necessitates a very steep feed ramp to remain so short and you get potential ammo pickiness. Mine eats Armscor ball ammo and g9s though so I'm happy with it. Find a ball ammo and a carry ammo it likes and I see no reason to complain.
I had one malfunction in the first 20 rounds, then 0 malfunctions in the following 300 rounds. I’m chalking that one up to the break in period. Haven’t had any issues with Critical Defense or Federal Hydra Shoks. The one malfunction was with Fioochi round nose FMJ. Had no issues with WWB Flat Nose FMJ or any of the JHPs.
Great video! First time I have checked your videos out and I am excited to see more. I am a 66 year old, retired military, who also grew up on a farm and have had firearms my entire life. I enjoy shooting I love shooting. I’m not bad. We’ll just say that. I have shot everything I have lots of different .380s by different manufactures LCP’s and original bodyguard, a Besa (which btw in under rated by the way if you have not checked one out) and an older Walter PPK that had been my daily carry for years and years. I found your video because I just purchased a bodyguard 2.0, it will probably become my daily carry and so far I love it, but I have only had 150 rounds through it. I got frustrated. I want to do some laser shooting with it and adjust the sight . I had a very similar experience to yours that out of the box it seems to want to shoot to left., though I had good groups. At first I chalked it up to perhaps it was hand position or trigger, but I adjusted my point of aim and had nice tight groupings closer to center. As it warmed up it went closer to point of aim. That said I have watched other reviews and it seems that several people have had the issue of it shooting to the left right out of the box and cold. I am not sure where Smith and Wesson zeros their guns coming out of the factory, but I think they need to look at their procedures a little bit because it seems like a lot of people have them shooting to the left coming out of the gate. I also want to point out that where the gun shoots when it’s cold is an important thing to keep in mind, even if it gets more accurate as the barrel warms up, if you have to use a firearm in self-defense, you will not have a warm-up. It will be cold out of your holster , and that is where you need to set your point of aim. No, I also don’t personally believe you should do too much adjustment to the site until the barrel has worn in about 250 to 500 rounds. All new guns need a break-in I don’t care who the manufacturer is. You’ve got to work out the kinks you’ve got to put some Brass through the ejectors run the feed ramp a bit. But that’s just my personal opinion with about 53 years of shooting experience. I also had a slight issue with the mags, but I overcame it first. It seem like I had a bit of rim because these are very tight magazines with the springs. 380s are a very fitting piece of brass I was using SNB‘s, which I find to be fairly reliable ammo and probably one of my top choices for target ammo. It’s affordable and the quality seems to be uniform. Anyway, I overcame the rim lock issue by pushing down slightly on the nose of the round as I loaded it into the magazine and it cure the problem. I had one soft primer spot, but I will chalk that up to the ammo because when I put the round back in, it went boom just fine. I experienced no other issues out of the 149 other rounds I shot. I will be going back to the range with a little bit of paint work on my sights as you really need to be able to pick up that front site with the slightly oversize “U” and a black rear sight on such a short sight radius a slight error amplifies itself. I truly think anyone else that experiences the slight shooting to the left issue should let S&W know because their procedure for setting the sights (front or rear) in the slide may be in error, again just an opinion. Anyway I look forward to more of your videos and as my wife and I both shoot I look forward to sharing some of them with her.
Interesting might need toswitch the ammo. I had that issue with sig sauer in my cz 75d did same thing. Switched to critical defense and it stopped malfunctioning. I also got new mags.
Thank you for this is the video comparison I was looking for this. I am definitely looking into buying the bodyguard. It was a tossup between the BD and the 42. I think I’m gonna go with the bodyguard.
great video. as for the FTF issue, keep in mind that i'm no gunsmith, so i might be all wet here, but if it doesn't correct itself after the "break-in" period, maybe have a gunsmith do some work polishing/filing down the upper ramp 1/2 so that the end falls just under the edge of the bottom ramp 1/2 ? doing so seems like that would keep the upper ramp 1/2 from providing that ledge that is causing the bullet to snag.
When you get a flier dead center into the head you should say, "This was just me having fun". 😆BTW mine shoots left as well. Tried everything except adjusting the sights. Only right Kentucky Windage worked. 4" left at seven yards, which is a pretty big deal. As for the feeding problem, my Taurus G2C had the same issue. It also has a split feed-ramp. No malfunctions but a stutter when feeding. Flitz metal polish and a Dremel fixed it for me. Polish the feed ramp until it looks like a mirror, and it will feed fine.
Ive had issues with hornady critical defense on my 2.0....the issue was not actually the feed ramp... its actually the extractor.. it is a bit on the more narrow side and as the rim of the case pushed up by the magazine does not fit properly and causes the round to come in at an angle and binds...the critacal defense cases are a hair bigger than other cases. I removed my extractor polished it a bit and now works perfect
Loved the video, and agree with you guys about both guns - other than my Glock 42 has a rare good stock trigger. But between size, weight, and capacity the new Bodyguard outshines every other pocket 380 I can think of. I just can’t wait for holster props or blueguns to come out so I can start carrying my Bodyguard 2.0 and stop using it for making kydex holsters. People are ordering those faster than I can make them!
I FINALLY took my newly purchased Bodyguard out for a spin. The ergonomics are spectacular, NO real issues with ammo feed. The ONLY gripe I have are the sights, I am a fiber sights guy as I like to see my front sight glow green like a Christmas tree. I do NOT understand what the love affair is with a "night sight" as I believe that if it is that dark that you need a "night sight", you should just probably get the heck out of that location and or should have NEVER gone out at night and gotten yourself in that situation. I hope that someone comes out with a green fiber front sight for this as I certainly WILL replace that front sight.. Furthermore, I have also owned the Ruger LCP MAX and the Bodyguard sure does blow away the LCP MAX in regard to ergonomics. The first thing I did when I got the LCP MAX was to change out that stupid front night sight for Williams fiber sight. As already stated, my biggest gripe with the Bodyguard 380 is the horrible sights that don't jump out visibly on the target when shooting...
New mags are usually hard to load but great review. I tried Sig hollowpoints on my Sig P232(new) and the large mouth of the hollow point rounds would catch on the edge of the feed ramp. I then tried Corbond they fed without hanging up due to the smaller mouth of their hollowpoint opening. Question: are there mags and holsters that are available?
I don't know why a lot of people do reviews with a gun straight out of the box. I like it after about 500 rounds. I find that it gets a break in period .
...but then there's no history of what happens when you take it out the box and start shooting...which is WHY people watch or read reviews - they want to know BEFORE they have to spend all that money on ammo just to get to 500 shots....!
The review on both weapons is fantastic. Your channel is very informational. You have a little bit of fun, your petite, and he's a tall man, so we can understand the difference between your hand and in his hand and how the weapon performs. At the end of the video. You said something you want to make sure they're reliable Before You Bet Your Life on it. That would make a good t-shirt and please if you do put it on the back of the T-shirt. If you could MP40 Shield Performance Center m20 Ports single stack . Thanks
Check out Tools & Targets UA-cam channel. He tests a LOT of ammo. I think he preferred the Winchester flat-nose over most hollow points because it was predictable & inexpensive. Most hollow points in .380 wouldn’t expand. He also liked the Underwood Xtreme Defender 68gr.
If you don’t want to use hollow points and you need more penetration what I carry is the the G9 external hollow points they will give you plenty of penetration and makes a huge one cavity but it has a rounded tip and then there’s also the one that looks like a screwdriver tip that would probably potentially have the same problem as the flat nose but there’s also the ARX which is a round nose external hollow point you might want to try those and see how they work in that Smith & Wesson bodyguard. If you’re not familiar with the effectiveness of the G9 external Hala points check out some videos on UA-cam that show how effective it is
I think Mack was using an ETS 9 round magazine with X-Grip adapter in the Glock 42. When you do that, the 9+1 capacity is close to the Bodyguard’s capacity. Also, I use a HiViz Fiber Optic front sight on my Glock, which also pops. They (Glock & Smith) both seem excellent. Why sell? I’d keep both.
I just recently bought one and noticed that the front sight was about a millimeter or so to the right. After adjusting it didn’t hit to the left so much.
The gun isn’t shooting to the left. If you’re right handed you naturally shoot left due to trigger pull. That’s the reason for using the support hand to drift it back to the right. Smaller guns are easier to shoot left due to size.
Hello there! Many other reviewers on UA-cam had the same issue so I'm liable to think it's the gun in this case. But yes, if you shoot to the left it's often an issue with trigger control!
Both are great guns. I prefer the Bodyguard 2.0, but that's only because I like smaller guns in almost every case (assuming they're not terrible). I know many people that have the G42 though and prefer it. It's small and light enough for them to carry every day without any trouble and they shoot it well. I just love the Bodyguard 2.0 though, because it actually has a much longer grip area. Despite it not being any longer than the G42 grip from top to bottom (of the gun), the area below the trigger guard allows for a full grip. It's like a half inch longer for your fingers. A good example is on handgun hero if you compare the G42 to the Bodyguard 2.0, you can really see the differences when the two are superimposed on top of each other in the comparison.
There are a LOT of reviews on the s&w bodyguard 2.0. I don't like the way it is put together I.e. designed it appears to be difficult to remove the striker for cleaning at some point. The glock 42 on the other hand is a true combat weapon like all glocks easy to shoot reliable easy to disassemble for thorough cleaning I have installed a pierce +1magazine extension it is has been totally reliable the purchase has improved a lot. I belive I will keep my glock 42.
A 9mm Diameter round is in Imperial is a .354333071. I like the .40 Caliber with the more bounce for the ounce of propellant. Car doors Garage doors any door! You are making your point clean out the other side. I like slowly working from knee height.
Looks like the grip is a tad longer on the 2.0. If the reliability is equal to the Glock 42 I would consider switching. Thanks for the update and I look forward to future updates as well.
On my BG 2.0 the front sight was drifted a fraction of a mm to the right, making all my shots hit slightly left. I would have assumed it was me if I hadn't already read a post about somebody else having the same issue and so I checked it with a caliper and sure enough. I don't have a sight pusher but it was nothing a punch and few light hammer taps couldn't fix.
Nice group. I own three Glock 42's two are for competition the other for carry. Twenty yards, 15 seconds, 6-8 inch group all day long. Always a perfect score when shooting Glock matches. I will probably pickup a 2.0 when the price drops 100 bucks
Should check out the Gorilla ammo 65gr Leihigh Xtreme rounds. It's what I carry. Solid copper with much greater cavitation creation than jacketed blunt nose rounds, similar to hollow points in cavity with much better penetration. They aren't cheap, but when I'm carrying I'm not exactly looking for cheap.
I picked one up last Friday I haven’t shot it yet I have to get some fmj rounds I only picked up 1 box of hollow point but after watching your video I don’t think I’m gonna use those thanks for the video

@@redskins1120 Yes, but we are talking about flat nosed fmj. Not hollow points or ball ammo. I'm not aware of a Hellcat in .380. My Glock42 has never failed to feed flat nose. 🤷♂️
@@027MC7I just put flat nose FMJ thru my 2.0, no problem
I bought the new bodyguard 2.0. Mine shot to the left. The rear sight was perfectly centered, so I adjusted it. Hornady Criical Defense was flawless.
Yup in all my firearms
Gripping the gun tighter works too.
Yes, trigger pull should be a squeeze and not a pull.
You both do a great job
Flat nose bullets are better than round in .380 fuck is you talking about 😂😂😂
I can stay wirth G42 in black on 50/20 pistol target from 25m. Even with this small chick man can shoot really good
Watching now as a Glock 42 person! My range just got the Bodyguard 2.0 in for rental. Can't wait.
Did you end up shooting it yet? Which one do you like better?
@alexwalker5645 I still like my Glock 42 better. Shoots better and easier. But definitely try it if you can. May work for you, just didn't for me unfortunately. I was really hopeful.
@ thanks for the reply!! I haven’t shot either myself, but I JHS r handled both amd where I’m very impressed with the Bodyguard, the Glock felt more at home to me.
The first thing I do when I get a new gun is clean & oil. The second thing I do is polish the feed ramp. The thied thing I do is put about 300 rounds through it. Good video!
Same issue here. Had to move sights, will try again at range tomorrow. Seems many Utube videos show the same …shoots to left.
yup, out of the box move it and this is a bad to the bone little guy
If it shoots more like the LCP, no thanks.
..Agree ,, poor choice of front sight ,, My preference is a green XS Big dot ...
They are definitely shipping with sights hitting left. I bought a sight pusher and moved rear sight slightly. Now it hits to point of aim. Also I run Winchester white box 95gr flat nose and have not had any issues.
Even if I don't like a gun... I won't sell it. Both are good guns. Saludos from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 🇺🇸

wow, i have only came across a few "keepers" in over 40 years of shooting.
only gun I plan on selling is one piece of junk that jams every bullet no matter the ammo....brand new too....will just speak to manufacturer to get replacement....but a different model for sure as they now discontinued it 😂

Finally the comparison we have all wanted 🎉
Great video and I've been waiting for this review. I have the G42 and probably will stay with it even if the Bodyguard is reliable. I'll be 79 in a couple of months and I'm at the point of trying to thin the herd, not increase it. Thus far the amount of rounds I've needed for SD is zero. I can carry my G26 or 19 if I think I need more capacity. And Glock triggers will always be "useable", but not great.
Also, thanks for the tip regarding flat nose and round nose FMJ. Very well done.
Great video. I've watched a few BG vids from others and this is the first time I am hearing of the 2 piece feed ramp. Thanks for the info.
Same malfunction happen too for AR range who had one--happened over 30 rounds in a row-recommended he send it back since they have lifetime warranty on all their products
Thank you both for such perspective in helping us choose.
Looks like such an improvement over the original bodyguard, which I carried for a long time. I tried the LCP max and not a fan.
I have the original bodyguard and definitely love the new one. I’m able to pick it up Monday and very excited to start training with it.
I traded my Ruger LCP max for the S&W 2.0 380 . I love how it carries, and I am very accurate with it . Way to go, S&W, this is a home run !
I really like your videos you realize these things are not toys andxat some point you may have to use one to save your life. Thank You!
Great video, got both too, carried the G42 for couple years as backup, bodyguard just retired it few months back, main EDC alternates between Sig 365 SC and MP Shield+ PC, some days I have to think for 5 min before deciding🙂
This is the first review I’ve seen that showed the feed ramp of the bodyguard. I think it’s still a very promising weapon.
2 improvements for 42. Ghost trigger and slide bar to rack the 42. Big improvement
Nice review. I have ETS G42 mags in 7, 9, and 12 rounds. Work great. They are not ideal for concealment but can give you more rounds as your 2nd mag.
Thanks for the comparison. I'm going to keep my Glock 42 also. I've got a Sig P238 and P365 380 and both have trouble feeding the flat tip FMJ rounds.
But the need BG 2.0 is worth it, sold my LCP max for it, the BG 2.0 has a lower bore axis so the recoil is so much better!
Disclaimer my test was done in two days because I had to go to different stores to find the ammo I needed.
@@Mike-4547 how’s the critical defense? I run speer gold dot through mine cause I get 50 rds for about $25 dollars compared to critical which is 20 rds for 25 I think.

Mine shoots left too. I made a rear sight adjustment and it was tight! Quite a pop when it moved. It shoots Hornady FTX fine.
Send it back let them do it and fix the sight
Thanks for this video! I’m trying to find a range to rent and try both of these side by side as well…so this video was super helpful!
great tip about the round nose.
She was obviously limp wristing when the jam occurred. I have shot 6 different types of ammunition through my 2.0 with no issues
Exactly what I seen also. But it happens…..
That does seem like a good possibility.
Absolutly she was
I shot my 380 for the first time.
Seems like as it breaks in it shoots more correctly....Mac
@@bobmacquarrie could it be getting used to the thinner grip?
Hornady XTP or FTX have minimal expansion typically and get pretty good penetration. The opened hollow point is often similar in size to a flat nose FMJ. Just an idea.
Great explanation both of you guys, thank you
Thank you for the details on the feed ramp.
Thank you!! Staying in the Glock corner but S&W produced a game changer and a winner! Well done!
Excellent! Thank you guys! Always enjoy your videos. -Dave from CT
That 2 piece feed ramp isn't going to change from just a break in. Large hollow points would be worse than those flat points.
Now I am thinking of those .45 hollow points known as "flying ash trays." Semi wadcutters too!
Yup another s&w half assed job. Fail
@@DaveJackalope seems like everyone else loves theirs's, cope more though.

@@DaveJackalope 500 rounds no jams, you're delusional and im glad it seems everyone else likes this new innovative pistol. Very original insult lol.
A modern firearm shouldn’t be picky about ammunition; looking forward to seeing if there’s an improvement after more rounds down the barrel.
Mine works flawlessly, for what it's worth.
Yeah, so far, this is the only instance in which I've seen this happen with the BG2.0.
And to be fair this is a sample size of 1 with maybe 150 rounds through it, might just need range time and will smooth out…
I had one malfunction in the first 20 rounds, then 0 malfunctions in the following 300 rounds.
The explanation for the malfunction induced me to subscribe!!!
Thanks, Industrial....Mac
@@bobmacquarriegreat content as always, where can I find those targets that you guys use on the range?
Interesting might need toswitch the ammo. I had that issue with sig sauer in my cz 75d did same thing. Switched to critical defense and it stopped malfunctioning. I also got new mags.

Green front sights are the best day and night in my opinion
Thank you for this is the video comparison I was looking for this. I am definitely looking into buying the bodyguard. It was a tossup between the BD and the 42. I think I’m gonna go with the bodyguard.
seems like the two-stage feed ramp may be a deal breaker if you plan to use flat nosed ammo.
great video. as for the FTF issue, keep in mind that i'm no gunsmith, so i might be all wet here, but if it doesn't correct itself after the "break-in" period, maybe have a gunsmith do some work polishing/filing down the upper ramp 1/2 so that the end falls just under the edge of the bottom ramp 1/2 ? doing so seems like that would keep the upper ramp 1/2 from providing that ledge that is causing the bullet to snag.
Nice comparison video. Very helpful!
Roger that I'll polish it up...Mac
Great comparison.
Excellent and thorough pistol shooting comparison, as always
Thanks WC...Mac
New mags are usually hard to load but great review. I tried Sig hollowpoints on my Sig P232(new) and the large mouth of the hollow point rounds would catch on the edge of the feed ramp. I then tried Corbond they fed without hanging up due to the smaller mouth of their hollowpoint opening.
Question: are there mags and holsters that are available?
Excellent comparison! Great work there.
@kevinrtres to me a gun is going to have to be reliable and it will prove itself before my life depends on it.
Thanks
Ammo question. Should I be worried about over penetration with FMJ 380? I have a glock 42 and my dad has a Lcp max. Thanks for any help on why to use.
I have had issues with the smoke colored mags btw....Not the clear.....The company sends me new ones no problem. Feels great with the X-Grip....Mac
@@bobmacquarrie Same. The feed lips cracked at the top and sent all the ammo out the top like a Jack-N-the-Box. Do the clear mags work better?
@@HighStrangeDrifter Same here...No issues with the clear yet....Just smokes....Mac
What's the speed loader you're using on the Bodyguard 2.0? Thanks
What the heck are you talking about here?
I have experienced feed problems with flat nose .380 in a Kahr P380 too. Everything else I have tried feeds fine.
They are aware of the feed ramp issue. I just looked at my brand new, unfired 2.0 and the feed ramp has been massaged and polished.
just use a boresighter to calibrate the sights. If the sight and laser are the same, then it's the user.
On my first 12 rounds through my bodyguard 2.0 I had the same fail to feed once using round nose fmj.
There is no comparison here. Bodyguard 2.0 is a game changer.
Glock all day

I picked one up last Friday I haven’t shot it yet I have to get some fmj rounds I only picked up 1 box of hollow point but after watching your video I don’t think I’m gonna use those thanks for the video
It was the flat nose fmj that malfunctioned though
My first time watching. Well done. You both are very informative and easy to listen to. Being 64 with lots of experience I have only one critique. Her reference to “class” needs explanation. I understand and think it’s fantastic you appear to recommend them. But, some don’t speak “Line Talk”. Thanks, you new subscriber, Vince
