The song is ''when Johnny came marching home" a popular song from the American civil war of 1861-1865, possibly based upon (or copied by) the Irish song 'johnny I hardly knew yee'. In general the music from that war and the 1800s is great.
      A few personal suggestions include:
      Battle cry of freedom
      Battle hymn of the Republic
      Dixie
      Shenandoah
      Lorena
Also on a random note there are 2 really great documentaries on the history of the west and american civil war by the talented documentation Ken burns:
      The civil war
The west- (can be found on youtube and covers whole history of the west from custer, wounded knee, Spain, gold rushes and more)

I am well aware, my friend. With no exaggeration, I've had hundreds of comments on it. I'm repeatedly running into issues with this one though.... the first being my typical resources (newspapers, photo archives, museums, etc) here in the States are sparse on content involving it. Secondly, anything involving ethnicity is a powder keg on UA-cam. I learned that lesson on the Native video. Neither my intentions nor qualifications matter to some folks- they're offended regardless. Their angst gets poured into the comment section, poisoning the community and creating significantly more work for me and my moderators. Sufficed to say, I'm not sure it's worth the trouble- particularly since this channel is my hobby, not my full-time profession. I just make videos in my spare time about stuff I'm interested in. And with the rapidly increasing politicization/ activism within higher ed (my job), I've always seen this channel as a place free from the outrage that accompanies it all. That said, I've been known to kick a hornet's nest from time to time, damn the consequences. So we'll see. But, I hear you, and others. If I can make it happen, at the level of quality that I require of my work, I might do so.

If you ever change your mind I recommend starting at charro clothes, I'm not well versed in exactly what they wore in the 19th century but judging from revolucionario pictures it seems that was the style most emulated, and it's still pretty common in northern Mexico, about as much as the cowboy style is still prevalent in the American south. Loved the video, I made my soldier outfit a long time ago by looking up pictures online. This is just my personal choice if anyone is interested:
Hat: deadham hat (came in outlaw pass), military scout hat in brown or stalker hat in black/brown.
Neckwear: a brown neckerchief, I chose the darker one
    Shirt: navy blue pardon shirt
Suspenders: cross back detail suspenders in tan/brown
    Gloves: workman's gloves in black
Frontiersman belt (if you have it)
    Pants: light blue clerk pants
    Chaps: tan military half chaps
    Boots: black cavalry boots
(I'll try to post a picture of my character)
Again, love the video man, I surely will make modifications to my outfit to make it more historically accurate.

I can't tell you how much I love these videos. Not only do you clearly love this game, you're also incredibly knowledgeable without ever coming across as stuck up or conceited. I learn a lot of cool stuff in these videos, honestly I would love to just listen to you talk about history for six hours lmao. You present the facts as is with no bias or sugarcoating, acknowledging the bad things America did while also highlighting that our country was still rather young and developing at the time. If I may ask, where do you get all your information from? You seem to have a lot of access to old books and stuff like that. I've always wanted to do a bunch of digging on my own on various topics, but the internet is not always a reliable source.

Thanks, Tyler. I too love the blue workshirt. More than the frontiersman shirt in fact. Just looks much more rugged and authentic. Actually the extended barrel on the Cattleman would match the 7.5in standard SAA pretty well. That model is often called the 'Cavalry' model for a reason. The standard barrel ingame is more like the 'artillery' model which is 5.5in
I suppose you might use the long barrel to replicate the Bisley 12in SAA but that has a totally different grip also.

But from what I’ve been told my great grandfather on my grandmother’s side was a high sheriff back in the 1800s (too obvious I know) and settled down in Montana after he married a native woman. I keep guessing she it was Crow, Cree, or Cheyenne or others in that territory. Could’ve been either. But she left for the reservation. As far as I know, my grandmother’s daddy wasn’t a lawman, but a trapper for a long time before he left south for Arkansas where I was born and raised.
