I’m so glad you mentioned Across the Stars. That is a contender for the most beautiful song John Williams has written. Also, those who didn’t experience Star Wars before the release of Attack of the Clones may not appreciate how exciting it was to hear Yoda’s cain tapping and see his shadow emerge as he entered the doorway to rescue a fallen Obi-wan and Anakin. The excitement in the movie theater was palpable! To see him wield a lightsaber for the first time was an incredible landmark in Star Wars history.
My rank list will only consist of The Skywalker Saga since it’s the reason that i was fan of Star Wars to begin with so here’s my ranking of the nine films: 9. The Last Jedi, 8. The Rise Of Skywalker, 7. The Force Awakens, 6. Attack Of The Clones, 5. The Phantom Menace, 4. Revenge Of The Sith, 3. A New Hope, 2. Return Of The Jedi, 1. The Empire Strikes Back.
12. The rise of skywalker (OBVIOUSLY) 62 Overall 11.Rogue one 64 Overall 10.Solo 65 Overall 9.The last Jedi 66 Overall 8.The force awakens 68 Overall 7.A new hope 80 Overall 6.Clone wars 85 Overall 5.Return of the Jedi 87 Overall 4.Phantom Menace 90 Overall 3.Empire strikes back 96 Overall 2.Attack of the Clones 98 Overall 1.REVENGE OF THE SITH 199 Overall 🔥🔥🔥😤
I agree with putting Return of the Jedi and Phantom Menace together. They are together in my rankings too. However, I cannot justify putting any sequel trilogy movie above these two. That's where I strongly disagree with your rankings. Oh, and TFA #2? That's just ridiculous.
My ranking: *13. Star Wars Holiday Special (0/10)* My go-to response when someone asks me "what is the worst movie you've ever seen?" *12. The Rise of Skywalker (2/10)* The only thing holding this back from being a 1/10 is that Ian McDiarmid's performance is really good, even if Palpatine being alive makes no sense. *11. The Last Jedi (3/10)* I respect Rian Johnson for still standing by all the artistic choices he made, but the problem is that his artistic choices trash George Lucas's movies. *10. The Clone Wars Movie (3/10)* Meh. Incredibly boring and doesn't really work at all as a movie. *9. The Force Awakens (4/10)* Probably the best of the sequels, but you might as well be saying it's the "tallest dwarf" or something. *8. Solo (7/10)* A fun little adventure heist story, but nothing particularly special. *7. Rogue One (8/10)* EASILY Disney's best Star Wars movie, but not the best Disney Star Wars project (that title belongs to Andor). Pretty compelling characters, even if some like to say they're "forgettable" with great action. *6. Attack of the Clones (8/10)* Probably George Lucas's weakest movie, but you might as well be calling it the "stupidest genius" or the "shortest giant." Some parts are cringy, but I love all the perfect foreshadowing of Anakin's downfall. *5. The Phantom Menace (8/10)* Some really great, memorable moments combined with a bunch of great new characters. Again, it's still a bit cringy, but it doesn't bother me too much. *4. Revenge of the Sith (9/10)* Easily the best of the prequels, and while I don't love it as much as the originals, I can see why some would have it at #1. *3. The Empire Strikes Back (10/10)* I can see why people would have this at #1 as well, but I've never really connected with this one much more strongly than the others from the OT. I will say that Empire is easily the most well-written and atmospheric of all the Star Wars movies. *2. A New Hope (10/10)* Probably the most entertaining of all the Star Wars movies, and also probably the most flawless individual "film" overall. *1. Return of the Jedi (10/10)* I know it's probably the most "flawed" of the OT, but I just personally love it the most. I think it's probably the greatest concluding chapter to any movie series ever. Perfectly emotional, perfectly entertaining, and probably my favorite Star Wars movie overall.
Interesting ranking. Here is mine: "The Empire Strikes Back"/"Attack of the Clones" (tie) "Revenge of the Sith" "Solo" "The Phantom Menace" "Rogue One" "A New Hope" "Return of the Jedi" "The Force Awakens" "The Last Jedi" "The Rise of Skywalker"
Thanks Curt... it was interesting hearing your take and it made me think... currently, because it does change over time mine are 1)Revenge of the Sith, 2)Attack of the Clones, 3)Empire Strikes Back, 4)A New Hope, 5)Rogue One, 6)The Phantom Menace, 7)Return of the Jedi, 8)The Last Jedi, 9)The Clone Wars Movie... then WAY below them The Rise of Skywalker /The Force Awakens/Solo. It would be interesting doing this with all the star wars shows as well as the movies?
I haven’t seen all of the shows, and I’m not entirely sure I want to. But I will say this, the Clone Wars Micro Series would be an easy #2 on this list, that’s how good I think it is
@@curthagens Ye I loved that one too, remember watching it on the cartoon network all those years ago but I do think the Dave Filoni Clone Wars series was great S3-S7... Have you seen the Kai Patterson Obiwan Kenobi cut where he turned the series into a movie? It was so much better than the series - definitely worth watching 😁
Enjoyed your list man! For me, 1. A New Hope 2. The Empire Strikes Back 3. Return of the Jedi 4. Revenge of the Sith 5. Attack of the Clones 6. Solo 7. The Force Awakens 8. Rogue One 9. The Phantom Menace 10. The Clone Wars 11. The Rise of Skywalker 12. The Last Jedi
Hi Curt. I just discovered your channel through the prequels appreciation video which I enjoyed. What are your thoughts on The Acolyte? Could it possibly be the best Star Wars plot since the prequels? Yeah, I can't believe I just said that. It surely has its flaws, but I reckon the story is more interesting than most.

Your ranking does surprise me. Here is my ranking 12. The Clone Wars movie (I have never seen it) 11. The Last Jedi (the space cows are unforgivable) 10. The Force Awakens (Luke, Leia and Han should have been in a scene together. Unforgivable 9. Solo (good but forgettable film) 8. The Rise of Skywalker (I did like the conversation between Han and Kylo) 7. Rogue One 6. A New Hope ( Very small difference between my top six) 5. The Phantom Menace 4. Attack of the Clones 3. Return of the Jedi 2. Empire Strikes Back 1. Revenge of the Sith
You should watch TROS again. It's not great (absolutely the weakest of the trilogy) but it's fun in that B-movie popcorn flick kind of way like Attack of the Clones. I find it pretty rewatchable, despite it being one of the lesser films. Very interesting list! Liked what you had to say about The Force Awakens. The sequels' shine in the character department.
I appreciate your respect for the prequels, which is something that is sorely lacking in a lot of star wars you tubers, but i wouldnt put any sequel movie in the top 5. Episodes 8 & 9 ruined 7 for me in hindsight
Randomly came across this and gotta say, I really respect your list! It's quite different than mine, but it's also clearly based on your actual opinions and not just formulated to get the most positive response. It'd be very easy to go sequels at the bottom, TPM + AotC in the middle and the originals + RotS at the top have basically everyone on here agreeing with you.
My list: 10. Rise of Skywalker (terrible) 9. The Last Jedi (terrible) 8. Rogue One (boring) 7. The Force Awakens (decent at first, terrible in retrospect) 6. Attack of the Clones (some cringy dialogue, but imaginative) 5. Revenge of the Sith (pretty good) 4. The Phantom Menace (a guilty pleasure, but not a fan of Jar-Jar) 3. Return of the Jedi (great fun, a classic, but not a fan of the ewokes) 2. A New Hope (amazing, a classic) 1. The Empire Strikes Back (purre perfection, on the mount rushmore of movies!)
1. Revenge of the sith 2. Return of the jedi 3. Attack of the clones 4. Empire strikes back 5. A New hope 6. Phantom menace 7. Rogue One 8. The force awakens 9. The clone wars 10. Solo 11. The rise of Skywalker 12. The last jedi
Empire has a few clunky lines, but other than that, I agree, it was perfect. You almost lost me with The Force Awakens, which I would rate way, way lower than that - it's just a rehash of New Hope and it's a crime against humanity that there were no scenes with the main trio together, plus a stupid death for one of the greatest characters in film history. Empire has hands down the best score. The use of the Imperial March adds about 1,000 tons of weight to the pressure the Empire and Vader are putting on the Rebels. I think the additions are mutiliation - I can live with the Palpatine scene, but the attempts to put windows all over the Cloud City ruin the oppressive claustophobia of the original, and cutting up the masterful final action scene with totally unnecessary cuts to Vader walking to and from his shuttle... ugh. To be fair to RotJ, in the original release, there was cringey "NOOOOOOO!!!" from Vader - he just grabbed the Emperor and hurled him down the pit - much more powerful. Many older viewers will have a powerful emotional reaction to that scene because seeing it in the theater was beyond intense - the audience was screaming so loud you could barely hear the soundtrack. There was simply no out of the situation but Vader, and when he did it, it felt like everything you've ever wanted to happen happening. But I agree, it's not a very good movie - it never knew what to do with Han Solo, rehashing the Death Star was a creative failure, and the mightly empire being brought down by teddy bears was ridiculous. It should have been Wookies, which would have been awesome.
