+J VH -- You're certainly correct that he can talk about whatever he likes, but that doesn't automatically give him any credibility. In this case, he's implying that kneeling in protest over one thing also protests cops helping people. The flag represents the US. That's it. It might hold different personal meanings for different people, but in all practicality, the flag is just a marker denoting the country of origin. It's not, "oh, that flag means military personnel, civil servants, and heroes". Also, the NFL players weren't protesting the flag, nor the anthem, they were simply protesting during that time for maximum visibility to their cause. This TV guy just HAS to believe they're protesting good things when that is simply not the case. Football players may not always be the brightest, but they know the difference between a cop serving and protecting, and a cop going overboard in use of force, sometimes to unwarranted lethal effect.

A magazine, or box mag, contains the bullets and is inserted into the firearm to feed rounds into it. A clip, or stripper clip, holds rounds in a position such that they can be loaded into a firearm, and is discarded afterwards. Think WW2 era rifles such as the Garand or Kar98.

Ok, I'm a European and watching all this drama unfold from the sidelines with some worry...but what I really don't get: How is kneeling disrespectful? In older times people knelt for their king out of respect, kneeling in prayer is quite common in a lot of religions and it's not uncommon for people to kneel when they propose to someone. Kneeling during the national anthem is the most respectful form of protest I can think of.

In America, we are taught from a very young age that when the national anthem plays, you make a very specific gesture to the flag. It's supposed to be a sign of respect for your countrymen, and remembrance of what all was sacrificed to get us to where we are now.
Kneeling during the anthem is obviously not that gesture, so it is a form of dissent. But you are right in that it is still respectful. Kaepernick wasn't burning the flag or anything like that; in fact he changed his protest from sitting during the anthem to kneeling because soldiers kneel at the graves of their fallen brothers to show respect to the dead, and Kaepernick wanted to make a symbol of kneeling for his fallen brothers that have died to police brutality.
Thing is, people lose sight of the message and the point, and take anything other than this specific gesture to mean that you hate America and spit on the sacrifices made to get us here. Yes it's dissent, but people don't want to acknowledge the point that the protest is trying to make, and don't want to recognize the significance of what these protesters are trying to say.

The artist in the concert had a lot of guns in their bus. They couldn't use them because they correctly tought that if the police saw them with guns in the chaos, they would have been shot down too. Also Las Vegas has an open carry policy but somehow no "good guy" with a gun appeared to save them all. That reporter has seen too many action movies to recognize reality from fiction, criminals are intelligent, most of the time armed retaliation just ends up in more death and not many people are foolish enough to play the hero.

I read "the clip is used to load the magazine" but that doesn't make sense to me because I just put the bullets in the thing (I thought it was a clip, I'm sorry!) by hand. a clip is meant to hold cartridges (bullets) so they can easily be loaded into the magazine. (where they are held in the gun) You don't see many clips now a days because magazines are designed better, especially for hand guns.

Jennifer Scott-Checki A magazine is what actually holds the bullets, and it loads them into the gun. A clip is something to help load bullets into the magazine. The only gun that I can think of off the top of my head that actually used a clip was the M1; the thing the US used during WWII. Basically, as magazine holds bullets, a clip does not.

People need to stop trying to tie this massive loss of life to the kneeling thing. Kneeling to address police brutality (I.E: the abusive officers, not _all_ officers) shouldn't even be tied back to a man shooting down concert goers.

Yeah I wish more people understood that. I was told in school when I was very young that we didn't have to stand for the pledge or anthem if we didn't want, because that was the essence of our freedom. Some people may have some religious ideologies against it, was one of the reasons my teacher said. Idk what religion, but that's irrelevant really.
It's not about if you have the freedom to do it, but if it's the right thing to do. So what about if they burn the us flag you would be okay with that too?
