And it's seamless, not just in timing, but in composition. Musically, he's a prodigy. I didn't start out loving his music, just the man behind it, then I learned to love it for what it is.

His rhythm, guitar and vocals are almost always good enough to be a studio take, and he doesn’t play it safe by repeating the same performances over and over. He changes things up often when playing live.

No words can describe this song, it has meaning to me as I am from the South Coast Australia there were fires here not too far where I live, I was lucky to not have to evacuate, the sky was black where I was not blue, could not see the sun, for days, with embers everywhere coming, was the scariest thing I had seen, we were on edge all the time getting ready to evacuate. My Dad had to evacuate he was very ill, as the 🔥 were coming to his place, but he was lucky it did not get there. Thank you for this song yes 🙏 Ed. Yes fires 🔥 were inside the mountain at Kangaroo Valley, people suffered with their homes and property. I will keep singing this song, it is amazing. All the best Ed keep up the amazing work.
The reason for the retune was the placement of the Capo so high on the neck. Capo changes the tune ever so slightly - worse on cheap ones. At about 1.03 you see him shift the capo, then go to retune.

I've always liked his songs, never considered myself a fan though. I had the opportunity, pleasure, to see him Oct '18 in NOLA at the Superdome. Absolutely amazing. I would love to see him in concert again.
It comes as no surprise Ed Sheeran plays his own song the way I expect it to be played. I wish the people doing guitar instrumental covers of this song (at least those I've seen so far) wouldn't simplify the main guitar track so much that it loses its beauty. The best cover I've heard was only part of a medley but it sounded amazing. Which is why I went searching in the first place for a full cover.
Original instrumental is very difficult to play, especially that first guitar melody you hear on the studio track. To see him doing this live WHILST on the loop pedal and singing is honestly so amazing
