It is a great credit to a pop artist when metal bands cover your song. This one has so many metal covers I have lost count. A great song that crosses genres. I am not a fan of most pop artists as most top 40 stuff is formulaic, but Ed has a few songs that I have come to appreciate.
This is beautiful because he's saying let's all decide to jump off the bridge and risk killing ourselves to save the other like we used to and see there is the other side beyond that because he's done with this side and he's seeing the beauty in his own submission to self defeat to his self destruction in nature and the nature of his ending.
