Bert was a great host. I liked this version /era of Password. So sad Bert Convey died of a brain tumor in 1991. His face was always on TV in the 70's and 80's and he had a very appealing personality.
I watched reruns of Super Password religiously on game show network years ago and never caught this week. So many laugh out loud moments, man do I miss the 80's... 😎
It’s hard to believe all of these funny moments occurred in the same day of filming (a whole week of episodes). I wonder how much they had to drink before taping even started. I love Bert’s reaction at 1:25. Classic.
Actually, she hosted the NBC daytime version while Bert did the syndicated version simultaneously. In 1989, the daytime version was cancelled and Bert was replaced by Robb Weller as host of the syndicated version, which ran for one more season.
@@Tubewings right, Bert decided he was going to do the Third Degree himself (which caused acrimony between him and Peter Marshall). Sadly he did pass before he could do 1990 edition of Match Game.
@@newstarcadefan Actually, Bert died on July 15, 1991, three days after the ABC version of "Match Game" left the air. His brain tumor diagnosis prevented him from hosting. Ironically, Bert was diagnosed after he collapsed while visiting his mother at Cedars-Sinai Hospital (she had hospitalized for a stroke).
It was interesting that Vicki and Bert traded places, if only for fun. Vicki hosted the daytime network version of "Win, Lose or Draw," while Bert hosted the nighttime syndicated edition.
During the elephant sketch on the carol Burnett show she dropped everyone to the floor with "is that little asshole finished" Considered on of the greatest bloopers ever. And was total improve!
The word "PENIS". Today you can say it on TV. Because there is an episode of Steve Harvey's Family Feud . During the speed round a woman said PENIS and they didn't blur it out.
Obviously, Vicki Lawrence's clue for "erect" was the word "penis." After she gets embarrassed saying it, Bert Convey tells her that it's a perfectly acceptable clue.
6:39 - "We have _ERECT POLES!_ " How the FUCK did the FCC not come down on NBC for that one?! XD 7:13 - TENTS?! OF COURSE, THERE'S AN INNUENDO IN THAT TOO!!!
Bert probably would have done well with "Match Game" had his illness not come when it did. At least one of the pilots are posted on UA-cam, and it seems to be a pretty good look at what could have been.
I know why Bert didn’t want to tell his age because once you reveal your age it become hard to get jobs during that era now that people can google celebrities and things you can’t hide it also entertainment tonight cost gene Rayburn a shot at a 1987 match game rival Goodson was going to do and got passed up on the mg 90 when Bert couldn’t do it
They tape game shows well in advance, & still do. easy enough to edit. you may have heard the popular saying "we can fix it in post." (post production)
I still think the contestant should get the option to give or receive in Alphabetics. Most times celebrities screw up intentionally just to make themselves. Example: Dick Martin! The password is MANHATTAN and he WILL say NEW YORK just to be a jackass and screw his partner out of the big money. I always knew Pyramid was 100x better.
dick gautier was great at games shows. they said money wise under this format he held the record for most money won (technically given away) by a celebrity and what made that purple one so bad was he rushed it........not knowing how set is built etc. i know contestant can see a clock but not sure if the celbrity can, he had still 20 seconds. i guess he was so excited she was about to win he messed up. not the first one to do that but god it had to hurt. and his reaction is priceless. he plays a goofball in most things, and kind of plays up that persona during the game but when it's money time it's all striaght all serious, let's go do thisfrom what i've heard he was a class act, and well loved and respected. i doubt there was anyone more upset than him.
For wooden the first girl gave the wrong clue. Wooden really would not be a clue for forested---woody or woodsy yes. not wooden. She misread the word and its meaning. Her fault and she looked pissed at one point that Dick wasn't getting it.
Bert Convy was handsome with such a positive personality ❤

This - and he found out about his already advanced cancer by accident.
I agree. He was very likeable. He seemed so humble and down to Earth.
Always nice looking and a very sharp dresser.
He played minor baseball as a young man.
@@mercoidThis guy had it all.

I love Vicki Lawrence she can pull off any improvisation moment! She is so funny on this show. If she figures it out she goes a little crazy, LOL

"What would Dick Clark do?"..."He'd probably AGE!!"...I miss moments like this!
"should i tell you what i want for christmas?" LOL
Suddenly it went from Super Password to The Dating Game.
God Bless Dick Gautier...what a funny and personable guy! May he RIP...
This hilarious blooper occurred on the December 11, 1984 taping of Super Password, for anyone wondering.
Funny Vicki "took over" hosting for Bert as a joke, considering she did replace him as host of Win, Lose or Draw.

@@Tubewings thanks for the correction. I do wonder if things might have been different had he been diagnosed earlier.
@@newstarcadefan that's too bad ... he would have been a solid host of a Match Game revival as opposed to Russ Whoever or Jon Bauman.

"no way i could've blown that" LOLOL O M G!
This show is underrated.
Wish I could travel back to 1984 and meet a woman like Kate. I'd like to have her for Christmas.
That would be my mom...
VICKI IS BOLD FOR SAYING THAT "WORD" ON TV.
Andre Brown what PENIS

The writers were having a field day. Back then, the 60s Password would never do some of these clues 🤭
When the girl laughed after she did her Holiday song, I swear I heard the opening laugh from “Hungry Like The Wolf.”
They had a blast on this show!!
Obviously, Vicki Lawrence's clue for "erect" was the word "penis." After she gets embarrassed saying it, Bert Convey tells her that it's a perfectly acceptable clue.
I may or may not have shed a little tear for her at 5:15! Damn.....
I would absolutely just say the word that I see too 😂
“I think I owe her some money” 😂
The contestant Kate was damn cute.
As was Laura!
All of these with Vicki and Dick Gautier. They were great!
5:50 would've been even more fitting had Dick said it instead cause you know...
Love this go vickie!!! Mommas family
if anyone has the BUZZR CHANNEL on his/her television, he/she can watch the whole blooper week of this. I'm currently watching it as we speak.
RIP Dick Gautier.
"We have erect poles."
Honest patrons at a strip club, or ladies' night at a *Polish* strip club?
RIP Dick Gautier
For the "Easter" clue, she was humming "Here Comes Peter Cottontail"
RIP Bert Convy ,you were great on all the game shows you did .my favorite was tattletaleso
3:00 - 3:04 Vicki goes from looking all hopeful and cheery, to like... "well, SHIT."
LMAO!! x-D
Erect Poles come from Poland. 😂

In today's social climate, Bert would be charged with sexual assault with no evidence. =(
5:16 This should be aired on Buzzr’s 2nd Annual Red, White, and Bloopers Marathon if they go have one this year.

"I'll get it next time."
Did Laura ever get another chance at that bonus round?
0:54; Maybe that's what inspired Bert to choose Vicki as host of the daytime version of "Win, Lose, or Draw".
listen at 6:12 either Convy or Gautier cut a fart 🤣🤣
A man named Dick giving a clue for Erect... I'm sorry, WHAT?!
This one with purple on now
5:40...hey, not fair. Bert Convy is giving a clue. He said "dick"
Sharon looks like the actress who played"LORI BETH" from Happy Days.
“Oyster” is a cursed puzzle
OMG.. when Vicki said "Sssssslllut" i busted out laughing
Sing it and I'll beep it as an illegal clue.

Here's a montage of bloopers from the American TV quiz show Super Password on NBC.
1:46 - How on earth did they catch Vicki doing that?
The judges were actually watching. Elizabeth Montgomery did exactly the same thing at least once, as I recall.
I could be out on a limb here but I think they used a camera.
They tape game shows well in advance, & still do. easy enough to edit. you may have heard the popular saying "we can fix it in post." (post production)
To answer the audience member's question, Bert was 51 at the time.
Stiff! Upright! !@#%^!@#%@!#! ERECT!!!!!!!!!!
The rules say you have to give a one-word clue, but they don't say it can't be a naughty word.

William Shatner was no better in the Pyramid department.
Things that are blessed: "The blessed.....ARRRRGGGGHHHH!!"
Did they plan the start ?! looks re-hearsed ! funny stuff !!

At 1:38 - Elizabeth Montgomery did exactly that same thing in the original Password. She got buzzed, too.
@zachhoran Yes. In fact, that clip is featured in this video.

5:42 "Dick" yeah nice give a way.
does anyone have all 5 episodes to this week 12 that is so funny? I would like to see the entirety of all this. thanks.
Someone pressed the wrong button, in the back.
I’m curious...WHAT did Vicki say???
Yup it was Penis...Gene Wood said at the end of that episode it was an unacceptable (by Standards and practices edict) clue and program edited.
She said "penis," if I can read her lips right.
Near the beginning....is that the same woman burt kissed from in the audience on tattletales?
1:46 LMAO
No pun intended, of course. ;)
wouldn't crossed be signaled as form of the word?
Vicki was a scream.
Vicky such a beautiful woman

5:49 Pretty obvious what she said. LOL
Guys you're all in LA, John,.... Wooden. I mean, come on.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Burt Convy laughed.
Wait Vicki said eyes?
Why was she beeped?
Anthony Barratt she crossed her eyes and body language of any kind was defined as an illegal clue on the show
never did like this guy
Why can they sing a clue but Vicki couldn't cross her eyes? Ones as "iffy" as the other one.
Did she really say "penis" or did she use a slang term?

5:30 is this Porno Password?
