Even in sometimes blustery conditions the scenery "oop north" looks wonderful, captured beautifully as ever by your expert eye for a detail. Those little snippets of info on your bits to camera are always so informative. Looking at Alan setting up my guess that the midgies were on on your trip at points then. Loved the look of Low & High Force. It would be great that sometime in the future the Sycamore More Gap tree sprouted and regrew. Nice one both. atb Al
Thank you Alan. You are very kind to say so. It is my weakest film for a while because there is little / no ambient noise due to very strong constant winds. Add that to the fogging of the lens and I'm not over the moon at the footage. That said, it was a very, very scenic walk and what I was unable to capture and show was the incredible bird life that you would appreciate. Curlew, lapwing, golden plover, snipe, willow warbler, sedge warbler, redshank, sandpiper. I could go on and on. Yes, in Middleton one morning Alan had to dress up like a bee keeper due to midges. I didn't laugh, honestly!!!
This is a route I've thought about doing on a number of occasions but something else has always been done instead. Thanks for reminding me... although I've probably walked 80% of it before. Cheers Alistair 👍
Thanks Alistair. Yes, if you've walked the Northern Pennines extensively then there will be few surprises. AW knew what he was doing in 1938 bearing in mind that the Pennine Way wasn't launched until 1965. I do hope that you get to walk it one day.
That was fantastic Dave a pleasure to watch and a route I’m not familiar with although I have walked a lot of it at different times. Yorkshire is such a lovely place for backpacking. Blimey I wish I was there and I did get out for a day walk with a group which is unusual for me these days. Brilliant shame about the poor weather this year. 🏕️🍻👍
Thanks Dave. I think you'd like this route. Fabulous route put together by AW and before the Pennine Way was invented. Part 2 will be out in a week or so once I have edited it. There is a twist sadly.
Beautiful scenes. Another great hike.
Thanks so much!

Loved watching this. Always inspiring us to get out there and enjoy what’s around us xx
Ah, thanks Sheena. I'm so glad that you found this video and commented on it. Alan and I will return to finish the last 4 days in due course.
