- It is not an exaggeration to say that Japanese curry rice (カレーライス, pronounce it as ‘karē raisu’) is the national home cooking dish. Everyone, particularly children, love it.

i like the addition of telling how to test the oil ready by adding the crumbs and seeing the small bubbles
those sorts of things are really helpful if you are new to this sort of thing and is a love addition to the video
thank you !
Your channel is a life saver, i love you so much 😭❤️❤️
I like to sub in chicken stock for water, and also add in a couple splashes soy sauce/a splooch of ketchup/a little diced garlic/ginger and some grated apple personally, but these are always great!
the curry blocks are packed with seasoning/flavour so there’s no need to
@@blondehairyves I know. We just find there is a noticeable difference
Can i put vegetable stock alongside with chicken seasoning instead? Is it recommended or not?
@@cocoa8535 honestly I havent got a clue… but I think *think!* it could work! Disclaimer - I’m not a chef
Diced garlic near the end gives a nice burst of flavour you don’t get from the Vermont curry. I get the one with apple flavour in it already so I don’t feel the need to add apple but I hear a lot of folks do that.
Very nice recipe, I normally add only one cube of curry powder with this much quantity. Your curry must be very strong in taste.
Was thinking the same thing
Love this I make it all the time and I use the same amount of cubes. The more cubes you use the thicker it gets but the spice level doesn't really change much.
adding the entire package was CRAZY
Just made the curry and it was easy and fantastic! I used pork cutlet instead of chicken and I loved it
It is a tradition for Japanese Navy to eat this in the cafeteria every Friday.🥰😋👍
So delicious 😋
That may be because English sailors first brought the curry powder to Japan -- the Japanese sailors would have been some of the first to try it
@@kenblank9892 China will rule the world 😊😊
Japan has navy? Or military😂
Great recipe, thank you for making my first chicken katsu curry a success!!
Nice presentation, nice music, looks delish. I'll have to try that "Vermont Curry".
s&b is better (it's called golden curry) it has no artificial honey and fruit flavourings so you can add fresh honey and fruit of choice
Fantastic! Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful recipes on your channel and website! :D
you seem like a nice lady, thanks for the videos:) reminds me of my familys cooking, happy new year
Gonna have to try this recipe. Also liking the accompanying music.
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please make more RecipeTinJapan videos. We would love to cook and follow along.
Thanks alot for sharing this recipe, it's very simple and very tasty...
First time I tried Japanese chicken katsu curry, and everyone in my family loved it... Thanks to you❤
Hey ayesha where did u buy these Japanese cubes? Are these halal?
@@ShamimAhmed-zo2su i am replying to you, but admin is deleting my comment. This is my fourth reply to you. Now i will text you personally
You can buy it online, i bought the vegetarian ones...
I think the admin has some problems with amazon, thats why they are continuously deleting my comment
I am also trying to share amazon's link for these vegetarian curry cubes... But the admin is continuously deleting my comment. I think the admin has some serious problems here.
This chicken curry is delicious... when i make this i use chicken breast for Katsu topping... my son eat much when I cook this meal.. thank you for sharing with us..
Wow! Looks so delicious! Thanks for sharing this! 👌👍
Ohhhh my husband loves Japanese food (and Japan), Ill have to make this for him!
I like that you had more realistic amounts of the breading (flour, egg, panko) Other YT recipes are calling for wasting a whole bunch of it for a few cutlets - NOT IN THIS ECONOMY
Cooking tonight with my partner looks so yummy
Very nice recipe, some parts like removing scum took a bit of time(they resisted), but all in all it brightened my day.
So... just follow the directions on the curry box? Good recipe.
How good does this look!!
How long do you fry the chicken in oil...I've never tried frying in oil...the same amount of time as when you fry it on a pan?
Keep the heat to medium so you can be sure the chicken is cooked by the time the breadcrumbs are golden. About 7 minutes
Excellent...thank you!@@annother3350
Very nice recipe chef 👍👌👏. Thank you for your effort 🎩MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR 2022 TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY 🎄☃️🎅🎁🎁🎁🎇🍾🍾😊🌞😎
Please help me Tin! Why is my chicken schnit still raw on the inside? :(
Trying this tonight 😊 can't wait
what kind of flour used to coat the meat in katsu curry?
Well presented food dish
I LOVE katsucurry!
Ahh, I can imagine the crunchy texture of the chicken...yumm
Look very delicious 🤤 😋
I couldn’t find the curry cubes in Australia… is there an alternative?
In woollies in Asain food section you can get Golden Curry. Very similar package and you use same quantity 😁✌
great taste.. happy new year 🎉🎉
Look so Amazing so good
great dish... epic mix of flavours ... bad bad bad bad step by step
What is there in those cubes ?
No coconut milk?
Is anyone know where i can find japanese curry blocks that is halal?
Sis di Indonesia atau Malaysia? Kalau di Malaysia ada dijual di Shopee atau pasaraya Lotuss
Can l add just
Indian curry powder or does it have to be Katsu?
If you add Indian curry you will be making Indian curry not Katsu curry. It’s a different mix of spices.
If you can find a British curry sauce or a chip-shop style curry sauce it's basically the same as that
Wow very nice
Happy new year 🌲🌲🌲🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🌹
I would use only 2 blocks of curry paste for that amount, instead of 6 blocks.
Waw nice 👌👌👌👌😋😋😋
No mushrooms?
Nice Recipe
Very nice!
Nice video mate 👍
Looks good like 👍
0:45 Hmm...I wonder who's that person is
Your hands have changed‽
that's her mom
Can the blocks of curry be substituted with curry powder? Those curry packs have a lot of preservatives.
I found a recipe to make homemade curry roux.
@@Channel_Yo Yes, it's easy right?
English subtitles plz
Yummy
I miss CoCo's curry
Not your hands today?
recipetin japan is operated by her mom, not her
I noticed that too! 😆
freeze at 0:46 you can see a guy with a beard.
anyway, I eat this alot but use pork fillets instead, it's soooo.... good!
Tasty 😋
I was so looking forward to finding out how to make Japanese curry without using the packet mix (contains MSG), but you used the packet noooo 😭
Hi Nagi. I’m curious, do you think a Western-Japanese fusion of Japanese curry pasta would work? Maybe with a katsu and spaghetti?
Yes. Spaghetti is basically just noodles
i love it
Looks delicious but surprised you didn't make the curry sauce from scratch. The store bought sauces are usually full of msg preservatives etc.....
Yummy 😋 😋😋😋👍
Doesn't seem right. Much better with breast fillets, and the sauce with garlic, ginger, flour, chicken stock and garam masala
Garam Masala is different. It has to be the british style or mainstream 'curry powder'
@@annother3350 there is Curry powder in it too..
@@loopy7057 There is no Garam Masala in a Katsu Curry
@@annother3350 incorrect, some recipes do incorporate it in Katsu.
@@loopy7057 They're NOT authentic!!!!
The original recipe uses curry powder brought by English Sailors to Japan and therefore the dish uses the english style curry powder (as found in english chip shops today)
Using Garam Masala would completely change the flavour profile and is completely WRONG.
Вкусно... Спасибо
Is that called a recipe if you're using seasoning blocks??
it is called being smart!!
Curry is made at home this way in all the Asian households I know. I’ve never heard anyone making homemade curry sauce for this type of curry. I suppose you can but it’s not common for asians.
Whatever it is, it is not curry. This is something else. But it looks delicious.
You taught your boyfriend how to do it?
They're not your hands!
I want to make something yummy in 2024 I want to try out chicken Katsu curry with rice and cheese sauce using mozzarella sauce and chicken Katsu and curry and rice, And I really want to shine my meal with my drinks it’s Mountain Dew, And blueberry cookie Oreo creamy milkshake.
dont deep fry it!! use shallow oil for health.
It doesn't work as well. Deep frying is ok a few times a month -- no problem at all
@@annother3350 Yeah if you’re eating it as a luxury dish and don’t mind, then deep fry.
But if you’re having it as a part of a healthy meal just don’t deep fry.
You don’t take all that yucky yellow fat and that red vein out the chicken before breading it??
Don't know why but I only like to watch women cook.
I know why white people love this dish so much, The British introduced curry to Japan at the end of the 19th century and this curry is so palatable to them because it is so mind and bland. Add some spice ffs.
You're not getting it. This is comfort food at its finest. It is not bland at hall, just not full of chilli. Jeez, you're trying to tell the Japanese how to cook!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@annother3350 yeah, when it comes to curry, stick to Thailand, Laos or India. 👍🏽
@@mitchie2267 Yes, I love all that too. But If you just ignore the word curry in 'Katsu Curry' it is a lovely dish in its own right
