Team Service Announcement #34: The Crusader's Crossbow
Вставка
- Опубліковано 2 жов 2024
- The Crusader's Crossbow is most Medic's primary of choice because of it's burst healing and Ubercharge generation, but shouldn't be used in leu of your Medigun to heal teammates. Use the Crusader's crossbow to heal allies from long distances and to burst heal a single teammate instead. If you miss your first couple of shots at close range, switch to the medigun for a more stable heal.

Rule of thumb: If you take 2 shots at your patient and miss, just pull out your Medigun instead
I also follow that rule.
Glad im not alone.
Or just use it when your patient is not moving
True dat
I'm probably the most anti-meta person in existence and I just use the stock Syringe Gun. No dilemmas about whether to shoot or use medigun.
@@Matihood1 i mean in pubs stock/blutsauger/overdose actually kinda work because your team will not protect you nearly as well as they would in an organized team
*applauds wildly*
MORE MORE KRUMPIDOLE FEED US MORE WE DEMAND MORE PLEASE DAD
Does this make Krunkidile our grand uncle?
+Gimpy Lollop Grunkle Krunk?
+Uncle Dane calm down there fam
+Gimpy Lollop Nah, it makes him our granddad.
+Uncle Dane Yeah, next time, rescue ranger. I see lot of engis using it to repair the sentry while they're in range to hit it and would actually repair it better...
There's actually a contract for the Crusader's Crossbow that gives bonus points for ranged healing, leading to situations like this.
+Suspicious Flaming Pyro I just sniped from a roof in suijin... done in a few minutes with the bonus :p
+Suspicious Flaming Pyro I just sniped from a roof in suijin... done in a few minutes with the bonus :p
+Suspicious Flaming Pyro i think part of the point is that it's not ranged, it's more point blank where the medigun is a better option
Okay, but notice how the medic as inching away from the heavy. Stuff like that happens
+Suspicious Flaming Pyro I got a contract for it before, and it turns out the ranged healing is... a pretty generous distance. Quickest and easiest contract I've gotten between both campaigns so far.
Poor heavy.
He even tried save himself with a sandvich.
Too bad he's slow.
Nom-
He was desperate
ohhhh YEAYYYY you are making them again!!! >w
+CuteC3 Im really suprised that nobody replied to you
+Tibet Sur hi there I'm new in town.
ttungtai100 welcome to team fortress.after 9 years of development, hopefully it will worth the wait
+CuteC3 Yer' one of dem animators, right?
'ere some 'elp from tis 'ere old coot of a turtle.
Ya do good, ya do fine. Got me?
Nope
The comedic timing of these videos is perfection.
I swear, I watched that part after 0:43 about 50 times now.
The Medics face cracks me up.
the crossbow is also good to heal possible spies. if the player is legit, they'll heal. if the player is a spy, they will try to dodge it since it will deal damage.
If they don't dodge, you'll hear a "thud" sound that crossbow/hunstman makes when they hit an enemy.
so all this time my entire team was filled with spies!?
I thought the blu guys were going to go easy on an injured heavy, then a crossbow from across the map would heal him, and then the heavy would have kicked their asses
+Ass Herz I was expecting the heavy to be constantly dodging the bolts while the medic feverishly tries to heal him,but this was fine too.
the series has always been about pointing out bad behavior in players.
+Memebyerin !!! This is only if a Medic is as accurate as a no-scoping Huntsman Sniper.
These do not exist.
+Fox Campbell
>no-scoping Huntsman
I'm assuming that's part of the joke.
Yes. Yes it is.
"USE, THE, FUCKING, MEDIGUUUUUUUUUUUUN"
use both of them together and youre great
Khanman88 yeah but im mostly talking about those medic that has 5 people to heal and stand not aiming still not even caring for spies (Or anything coming really)
***** Amputator doesn't have the same problem however. It doesn't require aiming and you basically heal everyone around you.
shh, is okay
Medic's agape smile when he finally does it warms my heart.
When I see a cluster of enemies fighting with my teammates,I will just spam the bolts, at least im helping, I either do damage to my opponents or heal my team in range. Am I the only one who do that?
Hence why my crossbows description is "The bolts of Chaos. Will it Heal or will it Harm. That is the Question" lol
+Dr. SoulReaper Best battle medic description ever for those though
+Ericson Caranto haha I love my crossbow with 1500+ kills on it (crossbow kills aren't the easiest mofos to get lol)
oh you're a battle medic too, nice
+Nico Sevilla its a win win situation unless your patient dies....
shoot bolts until you get close enough to heal them. :)
Can't tell you how happy I am to see you make a new one of these. They are so edutaining!!!
I've missed ya...Feels like a year has passed since your last video...
You officially became a "Pu$$y $|4y3R" m8
now fax off xdd
Dat Earthbound music doe
+The S.E.A. Glad I;m not the only one who noticed :D
FireThePyro
It's the remix of the Seven Stones they used as Ness's victory theme in Smash 64 and Melee
Isn’t it the Eight Melodies that you collect over the course of the game using the sound stone?
0:54 I love how Scout looks sad and pities the Heavy 😭
While it is true that the medigun is better for healing at close distances, there are still situations where the crossbow is better, because while the medigun gives constant healing, the crossbow gives a BURST of healing.
That burst can be more effective to save a teammate from DoT like fire or bleeding, AND, if you time well enough your weapon switches, it is actually better to shoot some bolts at your patient while you are using the medigun as well. In my experience, even at close range, you can heal 80-100 hp per shot, which is pretty good.
no, medigun is always faster than DoT stuff. It's really rare for your scenario to happen, besides it leaves him vulnerable after that burst.
Even so, switching constantly between medigun and crossbow can heal your patients faster than just with medigun, specially if they are heavies.
I have encountered low health heavies under attack a lot of times, and I can assure you, everytime I just medigun them they die, while shooting a bolt before start healing them will save their life.
I said that your scenario is too situational, yes it may happen but not often.
maybe with the faster weapon switches, but it'd still be hard to do.
Well my point with the OP was that the only situation where crossbow could save someone better than medigun is _maybe_ if there was an incoming rocket. Because mediguns always heal faster than fire or bleeding.
Oh man, I didn't realise how much I had missed these. Made me laugh! =)
YUS. FINALLY.. YOU'RE BACK TO DOING THESE
The Ness victory music really made this for me, plus that Heavy's last ditch attempt at a Sandvich. What a great way to (sort of) start the new year with a LEARN!
0:41 That music, medic reaction, the spy, the flying, it was absolutely perfect

ORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORA
Oh God. I know I am late and all but I saw a lot of improvement on animation quality and smoothness from the past video. Beautiful.
That pretty much sums things up.
\o0o/ I watched them all and read every single description. I really have learned alot! Perhaps when I'm finally ready to leave training mode I won't be a terrible Medic!
Thank you so much for taking the time to do these! while I'm sure many watch these for entertainment, Im also sure alot of people have been helped by these videos, so thank you again!!
I like how the spy has a face that says: "Hope you are proud of yourself" in quite a sarcastic way.
In all seriousness, the crossbow itself also needs you to think where the friend is gonna be and not just where it currently is and it's bad for self-defense compared to the syringes. I could recommend using the crossbow whenever you need to deal with an scattered team or whenever you need the healing to cover a lot of flanks, I think it's better for defense since the team needs to be spread.
If you are on attack, your aim is not up to keep the healing, or if you get flanked too many times you spend most of your time on respawn rather than healing even with the ubersaw equipped, the syringes might be a better pick.
* Uses crossbow and miss you 40 times *
"Fuck it, I will heal him with my medigun"
I was the enemy spy.
Everybody's talking about how glad they heard Ness's Victory theme, and I'm just here, cheering for the use of the Megas XLR's soundtrack
Crusader's Crossbow
Level 15 Crossbow
No headshots
I know, right?
I missed these, glad to see that you are still making these.
I would like to point out that unless a target is getting crit heals than the crossbow actually heals faster than the medi gun
Agreed. I think I gave 117 health with a single bolt.
+Lennon F
But not close-up at short range.
This Medic almost missies more than a Stormtrooper.
Oh quick play Ana...
Yes a new one!
0/10
No Pop It, Don't Drop it Taunt at the End
I've been waiting for so long to see more of these come out! These are hilarious!
I mainly use the crossbow up close because it heals way faster than the medigun on a patient that's just been in combat. Also seems to work just fine on backscratcher pyros.
yaaaaaaaas another video!! I love these too much xD
"It's okay, I'm good with the Crossbow."
No, you're not.
0:45 Your item sold on the Steam Market for $0.03
The videos went from 720p30 to 1080p60. Nice.
I still remember when this vid came out, because it was the start of Tough Break where Valve had a contract for the Crossbow, and you could always tell who was doing that contract because I would never see a SINGLE medigun if the medic was on that contract. And no one played medic EXCEPT to do the crossbow contract.
This is totally me when I have a crusader's crossbow contract
#1 rule about the crossbow...
CONSISTENCY IS ALWAYS BETTER THAN FLASHY CROSSBOW HEALS. THE ONLY TIMES YOU SHOULD BE USING IT ARE TO GIVE AN EMERGENCY BURST OF HEALS TO YOUR TEAM MATE SO HE CAN BACK OUT OF A BAD SPOT, FOLLOWED BY HEALING HIM WITH THE MEDI GUN, *OR* TO SNIPE HIM WHEN HE'S WAY OUT OF YOUR RANGE
Hurray, the Team Service Announcements are back! A world of crazy Medics, dumb Scouts, and things that go boom, as hapless mercenaries try to survive the stupidity of their teammates. In this case a Medic not knowing about the crossbow's inverse damage-over-range drop-off mechanic that makes it more effective at long range.
The Crossbow is not just for when someone's out of reach or safety. As the medigun can only heal a recently hurt player at about 24hp/sec, using the crossbow alongside medigun together maximizes effective HPS thanks to the burst healing doing more than 24hp/sec and gets you to your next patient faster.
Ever since that crusaders crossbow contract came out it's impossible to avoid medics who just spam that weapon. Even before the contracts some medicks would just sit in front of you and constantly spam out healing bolts when they are literally in front of you.
YEEESSSS! YOU MADE ANOTHER ONE! I've always been a huge fan of these and they really helped me get into TF2. I can't thank you enough for the invaluable information your Team Service Announcements gave me before i even began playing TF2 almost 3 years ago!
THANK YOU!
Very accurate to the crossbow. Youd think pointing at someone and shooting would do it, but no
I just use it like a rescue ranger instead of primary healing technique. If I miss a shot, just take out the medigun.
Incredibly important PSA, thank you.
AT 0:47 HIS FACE I CANT BREATHE
The Crusader's crossbow is Very important. I Used to main Sniper after that I Started Maining Medic with the Crossbow the Further your were away from your target the more Damage/Health they'd recieve. so a Medic with Great aim can be Vital to a team with the Crossbow cause they can snipe heal their Teammates
0:54
I love how pyro is thinking if the medic is a script kiddie for flying
_Let's go practice medicine._
I personally rock the crossbow and quick fix so here's what I personally do: when I see an injured teammate that is about mid range I pop a crossbow in their direction as I run at them like a deranged madman and I heal them with the medigun, if I miss, so what I have the quick fix, If I hit, big burst heal and I look less like an idiot for not missing a mid to close range bolt and I get to top off their health with some shitty quick fix overheal
I know this is an older video and I'm not the best medic and y'all could probably figure this out on your own or already have but I wanted to share a tip for the few who cared
the reason it's being over used is because of the crossbow contract :/
This game's winner is…
MEDIC!
The crossbow contract explains why I've seen so many medics trying to do this. Obviously Valve needs to have a video like this for every weapon based contract so users know a little more about it. I say this not only to instruct new players but as an opportunity for more wonderful Krunkidile videos HUZZAH!
I'd be so down for a Medigun with a longer range...
Replay this video 99 more times, adding one more ubercharge point for the full effect.
0:46 dat face :3
Krunk there's 2 #33 TSAs
goddamnit
How to crossbow heal with mem. Make eye contact with mem. Press E for mem based logistic system to take action. Final step. HOLD STILL DAMMIT.
This is my favorite weapon
Just found this playlist and watched all of them, Happy that my current tf2 knowledge it up to scratch as none of this been new to me, That said stayed for the fun animation, great use of music and moments of "yep seen that in a pub".
Next, how about the Dos and Don'ts of Sniper. I attempted to make a video myself on the topic, but I'm just not big enough of a channel to spread the word.
Me as a medic main
God damn 60fps looks so good.
The crusader's crossbow is really useful to use for healing at long range, cause damages to sentries while staying out their range, without immediately alerting the engies, and for spy checking, cause you see they're not healed by your shots, and come on, it's a lot cooler than the syringe guns to use. However you need some practice, usually because you have to distance from your team or they can end up in your line of fire and the one out of medigun range you're trying to help dies.
What about hint for those poor medics who have some fun guy who just spends his time breaking the E button, expecially in mvm, next?
Well, there's offline practice mode (and having to be connected to the internet to actually use your non-stock items and weapons). Gotta practice on that range knowledge. And I pretty much use the (default) Medigun. Doesn't charge as fast as the non-stock Mediguns but most of the time, that invincibility will come in handy.
There is certain times when using the Kritzkrieg can be better then stock...every medigun is purely situational and has an intended use xD
+Dr. SoulReaper Yeah, I see. Thanks for the reminder.
+OniRayyo1991 haha lol you can rock stock all across the board thou sometimes ya gotta break out dem Kritz and murder all the people xD
+Dr. SoulReaper Yeah, guess I can try practicing Kritz a little more when I can get around to it.
When Uber Gauge fills up at 100% on them Kritz, I'm all like, "Drive check. Got it, Critical Trigger!!" (with a buddy, of course). lol
still the best weapon for medieval mode
u mispelled its in the description 0/10
omg I thought this series is over
well maaaaybe it would hit you IF YOU WOULD STOP MOVING AROUND LIKE A BLOODY GENIUS.
Are there really dullards who use the crossbow rather than the medigun to heal teammates at close ranges?
+BlitzBurn burst healing.........even at close range the thing can heal a fair amount.
it *could* save a burning teammate who was just injured and can't get the extremely fast crit healing.
for the most part i'd fire the bolts at my teammate as i move into medigun range and as a last ditch attempt to run away with shit hits the fan.
that heavy hadso many holes In him
TL;DR: Don't use it unless you're in Medieval Mode
Medic: EUGH!
*Play gameshow music*
Medic:😃
Spy: *Hands over a dollar* (You shot your friend, have a dollar.)
Medic: Yeah! +1 uber charge
*flies off*
The Crusaders Crossbow reloads when not in use, and the healing done is not diminished by the patient having recently taken damage. As such if you're actively healing someone and they're more then 100 health under max, it's often worth it to quickly switch to the crossbow and pump a bolt into them and quickly switch back to your medigun. Take it from a 12-years Medic Main.
The crossbow can also provide good burst healing if a friendly target is very low and still taking spam. A quick syringe can give them a good 75 health, which may last long enough for them to escape to someplace safer to use a medibeam.
+tuosan771 did you even read his comment? Medigun heals over time, where as a crossbow is instant, if a patient needs the health instantly, crossbow is the way to go.
+tuosan771 unless you play like I do, and have the crossbow out when I'm not actively healing someone, this is advantageous because you can just fire randomly at far away engagements, healing or hurting players, when you come close to a player actively under fire, crossbow them, this health should hold them over while you switch to a Medigun to sustain them.
Trust me, it's more worth it in a lot of situations to do the crossbow
*****
The answer there is you need to learn how to aim. In ultiduo the soldier will stand still for you. Anywhere else it's not hard to hit
That's still what I'm saying. It would be stupid to start healing and then switch to crossbow in the middle of a fight but I'm saying for that moment when the soldiers are reloading or slightly out of view it's more effective.
I'd like to propose that the crusader's crossbow can still be a better choice than the medigun at close range in certain circumstances. In general, the video is correct about usage, but remember that there are situations where you'd be better suited for the instant healing of the crossbow. For example, if you need to quickly burst-heal someone so they can power through flames and take down a pyro or survive a rocket from a soldier so that they could escape the fight, when the medigun would not heal quickly or effectively enough to save their lives.
This does still carry the risk of missing, but if you try to use your medigun in those situations you'd probably both die anyway.
As a Medic Main, I cannot describe how much this video speaks to me because fucking everyone and they're mother seems to think it's a great idea to use the Crusaders Crossbow when I'm Medigun range. That weapon should only be used to save/heal someone far out of your reach that needs emergency healing. Holy fuck like thank you so much for making this.
Yup I still use my crossbow but within medi range well fuck it heal that sucker with the gun that spews the magical healing beam :p xD
I only use it within Medigun range if the burst of health will be more beneficial than the Medigun's gradual healing. I may be a Heavy main, but I do play Medic sometimes, and I've saved lives by using the Crossbow to burst heal.
Mr. Krunkidle, I feel there is an opportunity for you to offer immense aid to a group of players on TF2 that have always been the target of much derision: Blatant noobs.
Obviously these videos are a help in themselves, but I think you could do a video on how you should treat new players that express a willingness to learn from others. I've been seeing a lot of abuse heaped at new players for being bad, and then even more abuse heaped at them when they poorly attempt to utilize tactics they see better players using.
Personally, as a medic main, I try to latch onto them if the rest of my team is doing well enough to not need me very much and I try to urge them into the right mindset for their class.
One note that I'd add is that the Crusader's Crossbow is good to use for a single burst heal before switching to the Medi-gun. Use this in a situation where a power class is very low on health, especially if they need to be able to get back into combat ASAP.
The Medic isn't your guardian angel.
The contract that force to use this weapon in the nutshell.
Mistakes were made. Heavies were brutally exploded. It was all in good fun, though.
i wonder how much the taunt from the Amputator heals. i mean i use it coz as Blutsauger/ Amputator combo but i really never used its taunt for healing. So how much is it *able* to heal?
I was thinking
Patient manners
Something along the lines of a solider rocket jumps and dies because the medic couldn't heal him. As a medic main it annoys me when people die then blame it on me.
New medigun: Reconcile
Good crap: Heals the medic as well
Bad stuff: Heal rate -33%
Cmon! Even im a better shot with the crossbow. Sure its across the 2fort battlements at someone whos standing still. But its gotta count for something.
I always used it before vs snipers, so satisfying to kill a sniper with it x) the distance fall off isn't that big either so it's pretty accurate for big distances
use it like how medics of killing floor *1* work
heal from a distance.
and then get close enough to stick the medigun where the sun don't shine and the moon don't glow
And to think I actually learned how to play with these videos XDD Thanks man.
This weapon is cool to save and heal your soldier teammates who doesn't know that they can walk on the ground.
0:43 When you feel like the winner of wheel of fortune when you just put 1 band aid on someone
OH MY GOT ANNOUNCEMENTS ARE BACK YESSSSS!!!
The most important reason why I subscribed this channel is back!
You know what would help the crusader's crossbow ?
A HITSCAN INSTEAD OF A PROJECTILE.
Don't use the Crusaders Crossbow at all in close range, both the damage and healing will suck, Medigun heals better and Melee with its random crits (and possible 25% ubercharge) works better for damage
THAT ALL SAID at long range the Crossbow can heal massive amounts and is GREAT for getting off quick heals to allies far away or in places that'd put you in a compromising position.
+Krunkidile
i like the information you put in these videos
i play TF2 a lot and any medic related tips are GREATLY appreciated, EVEN NONE RELATED ONES ARE ASWELL
i saw in one of these that people dont watch these for information, yes there are people who dont care about learning, there are people who are not, as much as i like the things you do here, im mostly here for the information they have to give ^^
keep up the great work and ill check out your other videos to ^^
