- Another new soap and aftershave from HC&C in a collaboration with Rich Man Shaving. This one is “Rise”, an homage to Mont Blanc Legend. I own Mont Blanc Legend and this is a great homage. I’m also bringing back into the rotation, my Gillette Aristocrat Razor and I’ll be using the new 2024 LE KENSURFS Brush with the synthetic Fan knot.

Well, my Stirling starter set came in today and I had my first safety razor shave. So here's my first combat after action report.... Used a Shark blade, Pre shave mentholated soap, Deep Blue Sea shave soap, Alum block then Deep Blue Sea aftershave. No cuts! Horrendous razor burn on my neck though. I think maybe I didn't hydrate the lather enough, not sure Shark was the best choice of blade for a first shave but I'm going to stick with that blade a few more times. The razor burn on my neck was so bad the first water splash after the shave burned like aftershave, the Alum block was like rubbing hot coals on my neck, the aftershave might as well have been hydrochloric acid. All in all, I really enjoyed it, I got a really close shave, easily as close as I ever got with a cartridge. I might have to give my neck a day or two to recover but I'm looking forward to trying again.
Shark blades do not do well with me. I prefer the WSG

Well no burn today, rats. Next time maybe. I have that razor, it's a museum piece that's never been used, box, case, instructions, blades, all of it and most likely won't be either. Soap looks good, haven't tried HC&C yet, must give it a go I guess. Disneyland was fun back in the 60's, haven't been since. Nice video and results, thanks. Enjoy the new construction.

Nice vintage Gillette safety razor. BTW, I'm a 3-time graduate of Georgia Tech. I enjoyed all 7+ years. But that was 60 years ago. Not too sure I'd enjoy the changes that have taken place at colleges in recent years. As they say, YMMV 😉 Oh yeah, Happy Birthday!

Great shave Ken. Looks like you had a great time at Disneyland. The last time I was in California I got to see Chinatown and have some lunch there which was amazing and I also got to spend time in San Francisco where I got enjoy some fresh sourdough bread. Unfortunately I could not cross the Goldengate Bridge due to 18 wheeler restrictions (too many to list and half of them were BS).

You and I were born the same year I think. My face gets dry at times and oily at times depending on the weather. When it is dry dry I use Nivea Creme. Yes I spelled it correctly. Try just a small jar on your dry days. It does very well for me.

I haven't got an Aristocrat razor. But I do have a Black Beauty super adjustable. It is the best I can do. I am trying to find my ideal daily shaver. I used to shave daily with my original Gillette super adjustable. Unfortunately I lost that razor. But I have a credible replacement. I am hoping it will work out.

Ken, do you do anything to prevent rust on your razors? I bought one of those 3D printer razors off EBay so I don’t have to be worried about rust.
So far, my razors have been rust free. I dry them and keep them in a dry place 👍👍👍

Once I applied the aftershave, the bleeding stopped. My favorite blade right now is Wilkinson Sword Gillette from India
I have a question kent what a good brush to lather ur shaveing cream or soap cuse I had one that cem with van der hagen set and the brash broke glue came undone! now I can fine a good cheat brush and Walgreens or Walmart doesn't sell shaveing brush
