Wow! Great video. Thanks for taking us along. Lots of fun to see the inaugural spirit alive and well!! Also, loved watching the helicopter covering the event.
Definitely one of the prettier designs of planes in Australia. Anyone remember how ugly the virgin planes used to be? The bright red with the white tail? I definitely prefer the new white look 😊
Never thought I would see the day rex airlines going from Saab 340 to Boeing 737-800. Just amazing and also through a pandemic. Incredible !!! #rexfirstflight
Yes my favourite airline love the livery and rex flies to mount Gambier and I have been on 359 flights with rex and I hope mount Gambier is upgraded so I can fly on the 737 and I hope rex becomes bigger than quantas and they always do butter landings
Kinda brings a tear to the eye watching life slowly return to some normality... Who ever thought we would miss plane travel so much......A real feeling of hope when a new (old) airline launches in a pandemic
Was great to have the chance to see you in action and say hi. It was such a fantastic effort to get it out by midday. But a really enjoyable day in, as you summed up, such positive ways. The flight attendants who were working their first day in the air in nearly a year were excellent. Great work on another outstanding vlog.
@@PaulStewartAviation I believe it was cancelled some time in the late 90's or early 2000. I remember following the show on Swedish TV with my grandma who originated from Berlin. Great show nonetheless. And I was wrong there... It was an Austrian series that ran between 1994 and 2004, + a couple of spinnoffs. 😄 en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inspector_Rex
God i hope this new service from REX works. People just need to support it. Australia needs a 3rd airline. The success of this new venture will come down to the flying public supporting rex. Can't wait to fly with them soon. Cheers to REX
Great stuff. Love Rex (and QF). As a reasonably irregular Rex passanger from regional Aus, I found their use of their existing livery to be quite reassuring. In fact doing things step by step is probably good for generating more media releases
#rexfirstflight. Great video again and looking forward to the business product on your return flight. The price was amazing. Great to see you are still putting content on the Extra channel too.
WOW Paul Stewart. Thanks for sharing this historic day for Rex, with a great flight review. It's lovely to see so much content on UA-cam already barely 7 hours after the flight
Hi Paul just came across your site as a 78yrs old women i really enjoyed your trip on Rex first trip to Melbourne. I love watching stories about planes and trains, have subscribed so i keep watching out for any new videos you may put up.
Flown Rex twice now, (first time I had to cancel because of covid 2021 but I got my refund!!) Melbourne to Gold coast, Sydney, both return, super nice staff (even when helping baggage check in) very good standard economy service, pilots are smooth. Couldn't recommend higher!
Great to see a new airline with some history up and running. I invested in Compass Airlines back in the 90s and before I even got to fly them, they went belly up and I lost my money. I really hope REX succeeds.
I flew Rex from Brisbane to Sydney a couple of months ago the service was good and I did not lose my luggage and I will fly this airline again and they have my fully support
Great presentation & video as always, Mate, as well as the Business Class video. As a Dubbo kid, originally, I wish REX success in their new Boeing ventures with the big Guns.
This was very helpful. My Bf and I are flying with Rex to Melbourne later this year and I was unsure about why it was so cheap. Nice to know that it wasn’t cutting corners anywhere.
Thanks Paul for this video. It is really great to see an airline doing well in these trying pandemic times. I wish them all the best in their future endeavors. Cheers from sunny Southern California 🌴
#rexfirstflight Yet again another fantastic video. Loved the Inaugural REX flight from Sydney to Melbourne very nicely shot and edited. That was a privilege to see and experience this history making flight through your eyes. Good job done, well done Paul.
Wonderful Paul. I agree the livery could’ve been updated for this really massive upgrade to the type. Congratulations on being on the inaugural flight. Production is magnificent as always!
Hi Paul, A great review my friend, you have done Rex Airways proud and put them on the world stage. Next time I am in OZ I will look at using them. Looking forward to seeing your return leg in business class. Kind regards DS
it's so good too see a small country airline trying to compete with the bigger airlines like Qantas, virgin and Jetstar. Hopefully Rex do well in the domestic market!!!! #rexfirstflight
Always love your videos Paul! I can’t wait to see Rex expand and become one of the big league airlines. I have just been informed that Rex is flying to Port Macquarie starting March 28th, with there Saab 340’s. I cannot wait. #rexfirstflight
Loved this review. Its so great to see the airline industry domestically getting busier and busier. Always loved rex and can't wait to try their 737 flights. #RexFirstFlight
I flew on a couple flights with VA on their B738 back in May 2019. They were red-eyes, however, so I never really got a good feel for their domestic inflight product. It would be interesting to see a direct back-to-back comparison of Rex's new services with VA's. Maybe someday soon I can head back down and try it out for myself. Always happy to see growth in the world of aviation! #rexfirstflight
Gidday Paul. With COVID you have still been able to show us none travellers your adventures. Thanks for allowing me to fly with you again. It’s been to long. Cheers Scotty, Canberra..
What an incredible first flight for Rex! It looked like an amazing atmosphere on board too! All the best for Rex in their domestic expansion! #rexfirstflight
I was on the inbound flight from Melbourne and we had a bit of a even older ex virgin plane. Had amazing sunrise though and enjoyed cup cake! Glad I can have a video to remind me of this wonderful experience!
Hey Paul. Great video and I must say those are super prices for what's on offer especially for those routes where there's more lucrative options. Must be great to be out and about and let's hope soon more countries would be in a position to open international borders
Wow - great stuff. Again, super impressed by how quickly you edit these together. 👏 Also, good to see you nabbed a window seat after your earlier post on Facebook. Here’s something that would be fun: get two UA-camrs to review the same flight but one in business and one in economy. Would be a cool comparison of experiences. 🤔
Top video Paul! You’re definitely getting back into the swing of things with regular videos. If Rex can expand their business during a pandemic, I have no doubt they will thrive post pandemic (fingers crossed).
With all the negativity going around at the moment (mainly politics), it was refreshing to settle back with a cheap red and watch another enjoyable/informative video.....thank you Mr Stewart 😊👍✈️🛩💺#rexfirstflight
Great seeing people enjoying flying and visiting other cities. Here in the UK no such adventures. The pandemic still dragging us down. Government here are not recommending people book trips away. It's like two different worlds.
I do like the simple design of the original Rex livery but I would have though they would go with something a little more striking to catch the eye as the white blends in with the other to bigger airlines with Qantas and VA
Great review Paul . I liked the comment “it’s a 737 dash800 , which is not a Max” . Perhaps REX could have that featured on the nose art , “ 737 -800 not a MAX “ would look ace and funny too . Cheers and thanks 👍
Hope you had fun onboard #rexfirstflight! I have seen RQC outside the REX plane parking next to the Saabs on New Year’s Day when I was plane spotting in Sydney. As a 14 year old I feel I have lots of years to come in aviation. - Your subscriber, Cosmo
Great video! Hope Rex does well! Would be interested in seeing a “normal” flight in economy on the 737, once they have the wifi and give a standard service to see how it matches up with QF and VA! #rexfirstflight
i was working airside that day and i saw it out on a taxiway with fire engines on either side spraying the cannons on it for its inauguration! which kinda surprised me as i originally thought there was something wrong with it
In a Few weeks REX are going to be starting Gold COAST to SYDNEY GOLD COAST to Melbourne I paid $ 69 for the Gold Coast to Sydney Paid $ 79 for the Gold Coast to Melbourne
Tiger did more to rebrand the interior of their Virgin operated 737s for those flight to Bali (headrests changed colour to yellow rather than Virgin's colours) than Rex has, also did they leave the satellite dish for wifi on the aircraft? Edit: 10:14 oh nevermind, I wasn't expecting that. #rexfirstflight
Well... Even if the logo and branding could have changed and been renewed, REX is a classic brand. With the new 737-800's they have modernized a bit, but as a Swede I like the simplicity and classic REX.
I'm looking forward to trying REX business class. Once they start flying from the Gold Coast will give them a go. Would love to see this airline succeed. #rexfirstflight

Oh wow Jeb Brooks I was not expecting to see you here!
I actually really like that livery - blue engines, blue and orange on the fins, nice logo on the back, restrained colours on the tail. Looks lovely.
Definitely one of the prettier designs of planes in Australia. Anyone remember how ugly the virgin planes used to be? The bright red with the white tail? I definitely prefer the new white look 😊

My neighbour had a German Shepherd once and his name was also Rex.

@Josh... Was your neighbor a detective? I know a German Shepard from Germany named Rex that was famous from TV. 😄
