This is the first REX review I`ve ever read! All very satisfactory aside from those additional charges which would irk me too. Hope the move went well, and that you`ll be happy in your new home Jayden.
Chiang Rai airport is the same. 2 boarding gates & 100% domestic. other than 1 flight per day from HKG. Mostly if not all Bangkok to CEI. just that they added the security screening at CEI. Check in counter was slightly bigger. Parking was the same. 1 parking lot for all
That's insane, you can see the US Airways livery still on the aircraft from when it flew with Mesaba as N416XJ! You can tell it's US Airways from the stripes on the underbelly and rear underneath the tail.
Nice. I'm certainly one of the people who didn't know about Whyalla. So thanks for the quick lesson and airport tour! Also, I use a website called airfleets to find info about planes when I go spotting.
During the later part of the Covid era before international boarders were slowly opened one-by-one, I took my infant daughter to Tasmania 4 times just to try out the Dash 8 and the Spirit of Tasmania (before they moved to Geelong). We even flew to Sydney just to catch the XPT train back to Melbourne, and then we had to change to a bus at Albury (that was totally unexpected and I believe I don’t ever want to ride on a bus next to the toilet again). Priceless memories to be honest. I remember walking alongside Yarra river at Southbank and didn’t see anyone else, not a single soul except myself. I thought we were doomed. And, I have no idea how I managed those 1,150 days without seeing my parents by the think of it. Now I have to travel every 2 to 3 months, sometimes afar, other times somewhere nearby, like Cobram. I think I will try Rex out to Waga Waga next time - no particular reason, the name caught my eye 😆
Another enjoyable report, sir. I especially loved that the equipment was a turbo prop craft. For ancient ones such as me, turbo props always feel a bit more like 'proper' flying: usually means that you are somewhere a bit out of the way. One slight complaint, loved the chequered flag socks but with blue jeans and brown shoes! The bus report would be interesting, please
Very good trip report. Thanks for sharing. Just love the sound of those engines. Almost take me back to the days when I flew on F27 aircraft in. Papua New Guinea.
Will do! This Thursday! I actually really enjoyed the ride, it was very affordable with the student ID discount😝 damnnn I'm sure if you were there, you would've given me an upgrade to the driver's seat😝
Oh my gosh, Jayden first time on a turbo prop?! Well I guess, given your age. I remember when there weren’t even regional jets lol. Lots of turbo props in my life❤️👍✈️
Flying turboprops is a lot of fun, I always feel like I’m off on a real adventure when I need to take one. Great job Jayden on another great video review! And let’s see that bus review, either here or on Facebook! 😁👍
Great video 👍, a small airline in Australia, they just have Saab 340 in their fleet, the Saab 340 is smaller than ATR72 and Dash 8 Q400, I want to try it next time.😀
Last year, I flew a Maldivan Bombardier Dash 8, like you, I sat near the propeller. Music to the ears, yet I was deaf for a few minutes after landing. 😂 Hope you wore ear buds. Keep on flying, be safe! 😎
I loved this. So much like my local airport. Arcata/Eureka (EKA), in California. I have flown the same size turbo prop a few times from there, to San Francisco and back. Really liked the takeoff and all the engine footage. That little closet of a lavatory. Hahaha I like how you petted and rubbed the coat huke. Awwwwwww Also... Rex is Latin for King.
A regional flight review awesome! You had the airport to yourself. Yes the original VH-ZXF was a RR powered 767-300ER ex BA one of about 6 they had. The lavatory lmao no basin?! I look forward to your next review on a Premier Stateliner coach lol. Did she sigh at exhaustion at 7:48? Wtf
The SF340B was the most regularly-used aircraft on the DFW-ACT route in the late '80s on, and I flew on them when I lived in Waco for college and when I went to visit my grandmother there. They were fun to fly on, just the right amount of space and comfort for short-haul routes. It's a shame the follow-on aircraft, the SAAB 2000, didn't meet with similar success. During my life, I've flown on the Convair 580, the Jetstream J31, the ATR-42, the SF340B and the Fairchild Metroliner in terms of turboprop aircraft. It's neat to see a trip report aboard one. I particularly like the head-on shot of the SF340B pulling up to the stand; the camera speed captures the props going from forward thrust to feathered for shutdown. 😁 I always loved the start-up sounds of those SAAB turboprops. Never got to visit a lav on that aircraft - I knew it had to be tiny. How did you clean your hands??? And yes, how annoying to have all of those little fees...kind of like gnat bites. Neat trip report, great video shots as always! Thanks for another awesome contribution!
wow! I don't know any of those planes you mentioned here! Growing up in Hong Kong, I didn't get anything bigger than an A330! I only know Boeing and Airbus🙄 I also loved the engine start-up as well as the shut down! The prop looked like it was slapping my face the whole time 😂 I didn't end up using to lavatory, I just went in for recording. So as soon as we arrived at Adelaide, I ran to the toilet😂 thanks Britt!!
Excellent video. I'm glad to see that you enjoyed the flight. I completely agree that Rex needs to update the website and was disappointed to hear about the SMS charges. As a shareholder in Rex, I would much rather see the fares go up by a couple of dollars and offer it as part of the "full service" experience.
I agree, I don't mind paying up to $5 more for free text messages, better online booking/checkin experience and free masks. When everything is inclusive, it's so much nicer. Thanks so much for watching!!
Finally something interesting!!! And an unexpected one as well ! I thought you’ll review the Fokker100 before the SAAB but turns out I’m wrong . But I still enjoy this trip report since the SAAB is one of my favourite planes . And yeah , I do admit hidden fees are pretty annoying....to all of us maybe . But hey , it’s a SAAB so I don’t mind that .
1. Rare to be able to watch trip reports on Saab 340. I haven't flown on one myself before, so I'm really pleased that you're doing a trip report on this unique and miniscule aircraft. 👏 2. Surprise that a small township of 21k can still afford to sustain an airport. Impressive! 👍 3. The whole layout of the airport is simple but sufficient. However, blocking out two seats in between seats appear a little over-exaggerated, I feel.🤣 4. The blades of the propellers appear a little too close to the air steps for comfort. I would prefer the ATR72 style of boarding - i.e. from the back. 😁 5. Last but not the least, the hidden booking fees do really make the airline look cunning and scheming. 😅
True haha, I've only watched a few Rex myself. Just remember to mind your head, the plane has really low ceiling! I bumped my head twice going to the lavatory. The area in HK I live has 500,000 population and we don't have a commercial airport but Shek Kong airport😂 Yep the blades look like they're slapping my face!!!
@@JaydenWong cool, they actually started in WW2, they still make jets but only for the military. their passenger aircraft are all turboprops, very rare to see them here in nyc.
Interesting facts about Whyalla. The first question I had was is there anything interesting to do in Whyalla.... That airport was bigger than Bathurst Regional Airport I visited recently. I do like those Saab Twin-prop planes. Such a different flying experience than the big jets.
Great video, Jayden! However, why no lounge review? 😂 I loved that outdoor area and agree that I wish more airports have something like that to spot airplanes. I miss flying on the turboprops like the Saab 340. Looks like great service on a short flight. I do remember how tiny those bathrooms were on the Saab. I do agree that SMS fee is ridiculous when they didn't even text you with the delay. Overall, sounds like you had a great flight. And, yes, I'd love to see a review of your bus trip.
Enjoyed this review of a small aircraft, airport and town. It was nice to see something different from a major international airport and jumbo jets. Things always seem a little bit slower and friendlier in small towns and airports. Watching you in that minuscule lavatory got me laughing imagining a large oversized American getting stuck in there! The lack of a basin and hand sanitizer was rather disconcerting to say the least. Please show your bus ride just because it would be different. Hope you are comfortably settled in your new place. Have a good weekend Jayden. ❤🛫🙏🏽🌎

Not for me too haha, I didn't know what to expect onboard 😂 Thanks Man Shan, and also thanks for the new pledge! I guess I'll start sharing my academic stuff there!!
It has been great to have Rex support Whyalla, and that local business, Whyalla Travel and Cruise, have been able to stay open during Covid, unlike other larger travel agents which did not support Whyalla and closed. Viv is absolutely wonderful at the check-in counter for Rex 😊
it was fun travelling up to Whyalla and flying Rex back to Adelaide, hopefully the fares are cheaper though, so that it'll be more an attractive option for me when it comes to travelling. Currently flying Rex to Melbourne return is same as flying to Whyalla one way
@@JaydenWong I think the current price from Adelaide to Melbourne won't be around for long, it's likely that it's a promo for their new flights that they have started.
Bus review? Absolutely! I was watching train review about US' Amtrak and totally hooked. Non-air trip looks refreshing to me. Btw you are actually taller than I thought 🤣
Another great vlog!! Whyalla seems like such an interesting destination. Please upload your bus report to UA-cam. I think it would be fascinating to watch. Thank you.
So you suffered a bus ride just to get something other than a QF738? Thanks for atking one for the team - but we've gotta see that bus report! It seems incredible that this is your first prop flight. I don't think I've flown a S340B, only the A
Totally agree with you on the Fees. $2 for SMS is ridiculous when they are usually free these days. Even when they were at the most expensive, was 25 cents. I think a new pair of jeans would be a good Birthday present for you! :-)
Back in the day it wasn't uncommon for carriers to have the old, round SAAB-SCANIA griffin emblem on the outside of the cabin door - the same one that was on their cars at the time, because back then it literally was the same company.
Thanks for the report from Whyalla. Airport. I have a special place in my heart for the airport as my father and my uncle provided aviation fuel services through the 1970's to it.
I’m not a big fan of those rex planes I more like 737 planes also it would be cool if you did a vid of your hole plane ride also my town airport is a lot smaller then that but we go to Melbourne airport
Here in New South Wales, I will be flying intrastate from Sydney (SYD) to Ballina (BNK) on Virgin Australia Boeing 737-800 Economy Class, VA1141 on 30/9/2020, then from Ballina (BNK) back to Sydney (SYD) on Qantas De Havilland Canada Dash 8-400 Economy Class, QF2065 on 2/10/2020
REX will pick up ex VA 737s and compete on the Syd Mel Bne triangle. Will be interesting to see how QF reacts. Love the sigh of the FA at the end of the first announcement.
Same! And hopefully they will also include Adelaide and make it into a square or two or even 3 triangles! The FA was really funny, after she sighed, she explained to us about the fog (without the mic) and everybody laughed :) thanks for watching Paul!
Yeah, why not ! Bus review on your UA-cam channel , great idea.. You wouldn't be the only vlogger at the moment finding unusual content with limited plane travel restricting planes vlogs. Great to see you showing smaller airlines in Australia too 👏
@@JaydenWong ... sweet ! When I was young ( a long long time ago 😂), I used to live catching a Greyhound from Melbourne to Sydney or Brisbane. It's a great way to see places, and see some " interesting" people along the way 😄
Nice trip report again. Different environnement this time, very interesting (I love small airports). The bus trip report is welcome here or on FB, does not matter to me as long as you present it in your usual manner (sorry my English is bad). Thanks for the broadcast !
yes and no. Really wanna try them out but they don't fly to Adelaide, this means I have to go to QLD/NT first, then catch one of their flights, and $$$ thanks for watching!
Update: Whyalla just announced a pullout of Whyalla by July 1 2023 due to what I can see is a silly spat over airport security costs - the federal subsidies were expiring but Rex would rather blame the Whyalla council and demand they cover the costs. For now, QantasLink will have the monopoly. This route has sentimental feelings for me I did the Adelaide to Whyalla flight in May last year to inspect my rental property and check out the region. A cute modern airport with a little shop/cafe that opened sibsuquenvto this video. It sure was memorable in that old Saab.
For a moment at the very beginning i thought you were in a 👻 town.lol Put the bus video on tube. I'm sure subscribers will enjoy it. I ❤️ these regional flights. One feels treated more 'human and less a nr than being on 300-350 passenger aircraft taking off and landing from the world' s major hubs
haha Whyalla is kind of a ghost town, well at least during the weekend! This felt a little bit like a scenic flight, short, and fly near the city😂 thanks Antonio!
Thanks. Disappointed no water and basin in toilet, surely some hand sanitiser would go along way to kill some germs after using the toilet and not risk spreading more germs on seats, belts and anything else touched??? It would have helped/made it more informative if you mentions the bus trip from Adelaide is around 4 hours and so a 30min flight is a huge time saver. Yeah those poorly stated/understand fees are a pain. Don’t agree with no security screening at regional airports.
I've 2 propeller plane experience, one in the early 80's when i was a kid, flying from Guangzhou to Guilin桂林, and that's was a horrible experience. I still can remember the plane with no air-con, cloth seats with stains, noisy and bouncy, maybe it was a Russian built aircraft. The second one from Bathurst to Sydney in the 90's, still noisy, but it was a much pleasant flight. HaHa~~~ By the way, $2.4 for only 1 SMS, That's amaze me~~
Thanks for the great report on Rex. Used to fly the Saab's quite a bit when I lived in the USA. Usually American Eagle. I'm flying out of Adelaide on Tuesday on Virgin to Brissie. Look forward to the bus review!
$2.50 for a bloody SMS booking notification? Wow, I thought airlines couldn't sink lower - that's borderline to charging for oxygen or use the restroom.

Yayy the one world flyer music always cheers me up 🥰 I would have been scared on such a small plane heheh
haha I bumped my head twice going to the lav😂 the plane has really low ceiling!
Fantastic vlog Jayden
$2 for 1 mask is a bit expensive for sure
Jayden forgot to sanitize his seat and tray table again ! Lol 😂
ahhhh the moment I saw my seat I put my butt down😂
Totally agree with you on the Fees. $2 for SMS is ridiculous when they are usually free these days. Even when they were at the most expensive, was 25 cents. I think a new pair of jeans would be a good Birthday present for you! :-)
The saab340 you were on had and old us airways livery on the undercarriage!
I didn't even notice until I saw the comments!!
Would want to add that to my bucket list an amazing vid
yep haha, and mind you head the plane has really low ceiling!
Good little one, look forward to bigger and longer next time. That engine cowling could do with a touch up of paint! lol
That's the plan! And yep the colours a bit off haha
Great report! I used to fly to Whyalla from Adelaide once a month but I would prefer flying with Qantas.
same especially on the way there I would have lounge access! Thanks so much for watching!
Awesome trip report mate! :D
Thanks a lot!
If you like turboprop flight, try sharp airlines flight to flinders island from Essendon airport. It's great
You can't go to Melbourne now
haha yup can't wait til the lockdown over there is over!
Really awesome!
Thanks!
your so lucky to get that old us airway livery!! Honestly, its better than the new ones lol :)
You should really try WestJet's Dash 8. I saw someone else try it that's from Canada.
west jet, always wanted to try out that airline!!
i love how you totlly dominate the #economyclass
Here in New South Wales, I will be flying intrastate from Sydney (SYD) to Ballina (BNK) on Virgin Australia Boeing 737-800 Economy Class, VA1141 on 30/9/2020, then from Ballina (BNK) back to Sydney (SYD) on Qantas De Havilland Canada Dash 8-400 Economy Class, QF2065 on 2/10/2020
Bus review would be a trip, surely do it 😂
cool, this thursday bus review! :D
The FA was really funny, after she sighed, she explained to us about the fog (without the mic) and everybody laughed :)
thanks for watching Paul!
SAAB are a beautiful aircraft
indeed!
Great Vid!
thank you!!
Yeah, why not !
Bus review on your UA-cam channel , great idea..
You wouldn't be the only vlogger at the moment finding unusual content with limited plane travel restricting planes vlogs.
Great to see you showing smaller airlines in Australia too 👏
you got it! I'll upload it this weekend :D
thanks Heather!!
Thanks for the broadcast !
haha all good! Thanks very much for watching :)
Even smaller than Ballina Byron (BNK) in New South Wales
yep! smaller I've been to
Sensational!
thanks for watching Neil!
Thanks !
Excellent Jayden
thank you Jerry :D
@@JaydenWong welcome Jayden. Upload more amazing videos. I'm happy to be able to learn and to get the benefit of your experiences.
Please go to more small regional Australian airports!
I would love to too!
Never heard this airline before !
Very nice ! 👍
Thank you :)
Been waiting for a Rex flight
here it is😝
great video
Thanks!
When do you think the a380 and the bigger planes are gonna come back to Adelaide again 😢.
I have the same questions :(
Any plans to review Air North Embraer 120/170 or Flypelican on their Jetstream 32?
yes and no. Really wanna try them out but they don't fly to Adelaide, this means I have to go to QLD/NT first, then catch one of their flights, and $$$
thanks for watching!
Yesss!
ayyyy!
I definitely want to see your bus review 😊
You got it! this thursday!
bus trip review...why not?!
coming this week!
that was a great review! I thoroughly enjoyed it. I love how charming you always are and always look forward to your next report.
thanks Richard, you're so kind ;)
I agree, even hand wipes would've been nice. Thanks for your feedback!
Top video :)
Thanks 😁
Beautiful flyover Adelaide city. Always a great view
My new home is right under the flight path, planes like the 737 fly over when it's only 1000 ft high😍
@@JaydenWong plane spotting everyday. Just stick your head out the window
HaHa~~~
By the way, $2.4 for only 1 SMS, That's amaze me~~
wow that's long long time ago! This one was noisy too, but it was the good-noisy😂 yep I think a text to overseas is cheaper!
Hi. Was wondering how you fund your trips?
Do you have a video k this or a course?
short answer - I post a video here, and if you watch it I may earn some revenue to fund more trips :)
How do you find these flights? Last time I checked flight radar there wasn’t even one plane in Australia really.
when did you last check? This service probably resumed in the last 2 months
One World Flyer I meant when I last checked Adelaide.
Yes you should do Bus trip
coming soon :D
Hi mate, do domestic flights still fly in Australia in COVID 19
yep! Most states are open now :)
One World Flyer Thx because I was planning to go to Brisbane next year
Thanks for the great report on Rex. Used to fly the Saab's quite a bit when I lived in the USA. Usually American Eagle. I'm flying out of Adelaide on Tuesday on Virgin to Brissie. Look forward to the bus review!
Adelaide-Brisbane again??? 😂 I'm actually planning on Adelaide-Brisbane on Wednesday with VA!!
Bus review would be sweet 👍
Coming soon!
$2.50 for a bloody SMS booking notification? Wow, I thought airlines couldn't sink lower - that's borderline to charging for oxygen or use the restroom.
Absolutely! Jetstar charge less than that!
1:55 I can't believe you were at the airport so early lol... surprised the front doors were open
haha I'm used to arriving at airports at least 3 hours before😂
@@JaydenWong 30 minutes for me ;) and sometimes below 30 lol
Good Vid I have done Adelaide Whyalla around 30 times when the steel works was in full swing Take care Jason
that's cool! I quite enjoyed my short trip there, just walked around haha. thanks Alward!
