Just got mine. Got it from Best Buy for $1349. Best picture quality on a monitor I have ever seen. Wish the pbp feature was 240hz. I also noticed there’s some graininess to the monitors in certain scenes.
I sold my open box Samsung 49” 3840x1080p @ 144hz for $400 and bought another open box one but 5120x1440 @ 240hz for a total of $273 more out of pocket. It’s not oled but loving the extra sharpness of 1440p and the 240hz.
i was choosing between this one and the 57 inch 4k none oled monitor and while oled is awesome, the 1800R curve was deal breaker for me, i need that 1000R curve
Do you have any experience about the burn-in because of OLED? Does it work well with having applications open for work that dont switch leds a lot like games do? I consider to use the screen for streaming and want to replace my three monitors. Will it be good for that use case?
Most OLEDS these days have burn in mitigation techniques. Like pixel shifting / orbiting. Or if it detects a static image for too long it may dim the screen. They also tend to run pixel refreshers at various intervals which makes it really hard to get burn in these days but not impossible. It's one of those things that you have to keep in the back of your mind but honestly OLEDs look so damn good it's worth the trade off imo. You can easily get many years of use without any issues as long as you practice a little common sense with it. If you do plan to use it for productivity / work I would be sure to auto hide the task bar on my computer. As well as have a rotation of backgrounds for the desk top not just a static one. If you aren't actively using it? put the computer to sleep or at least have a screen saver with a short kick in time. Otherwise you should be able to use it pretty normally even for work related stuff unless your job literally requires you to keep the same static thing on screen for like 20 hours at a time.
It's simply too small vertically in terms of resolution and vertical real estate, 21:9 ultrawides at 38" and above are 1600p at least like the AW3821DW and LG38- from 2020, those were perfect productivity panels. If you ever try a 38" 3840x1600p 21:9 UWD, you won't be able to go back to a traditional 3440x1440p 34" (I pre-ordered the AW34 QD-OLED on the day it was announced), let alone over 49". It seems we're not getting W/QD-OLED Ultrawides with decent enough vertical resolution so the next best thing is a 42" 4k120-240hz 16:9 OLED (doesn't feel the same though).
Hello, There are a lot of comments about complaints about Oled burn etc. Can you share your long time usage experiences? Do you take any precautions to protect the screen?
Interesting R.E. Picture by Picture. Does that mean you can connect earbuds for one input, say DisplayPort, and then have audio for the HDMI input come through the monitor's speakers? If so that is awesome! 😮 I wish we get support for dual HDMI Picture by Picture in future.
You should include a comparison with the LG 45" OLED UltraGear. You did a 2-part review for that monitor which you praised, which makes it surprising that you did this review without any mention of the LG at all. A 45" to a 49" is not a big leap in size, which means there are other attributes that need to be compared. Otherwise the video will sound like any other video that is selling a monitor rather than reviewing a monitor.

Do you still play OW is this monitor? I'm almost buying it for OW as well. I'm t500 actually playing on 360hz TN panel. Is it possible to stretch and still be playable? How is it for OW?
Most I was able to get was 21:9 aspect ratio, definitely playable. I wouldn't say it's the best for competitive OW though. but depends on the person. I actually tanked my rating LOL, I'm borderline M1/GM5 now. I peaked T200 with my LG 27GR95QE ( 27" 240hz OLED). for comp I'd probably stick with 16:9. although I can still play well at 21:9.

is this good for productivity ? many reviews only talk about games on this monitor. Kindly advise how the font appears if used for productivity. A review on that will be very helpful for many of us
OLED in general is not good for productivity due to burn in and text clarity (depending how sensitive your eyes are). The mini led or VA panel version would be good for productivity
I have this oled g9. Workon everyday. Perfect. Multi window. Text is clear due to the high dpi on the panel. Love this monitor. Tho I get screen flicker after sleep forcing a dp cable unplug and plug occasionally.
Don't judge! I've got a 4090 build incoming, Right now I'm rocking an RTX 2070 with an i7 and 16gb of RAM. It does surprisingly well against modern displays, but definitely need a spec bump to test things to the fullest cheers!
45 lg oled I found more practical. Wasn’t as good for office work but I preferred it for gaming. If you’re doing both a lot the Sammy id say is better.
So apparently you can connect your samsung tablet via bluetooth to this monitor, but what does it do exactly? Stream the image to the tablet or the opposite?
Yup! Although the Neo 59" is also coming soon, I think that would be better for productivity and charts. Higher PPI, wider, and better resolution. I'm tempted to check it out as well. It's practically double 4k displays in one. Definitely better for productivity/charts news.samsung.com/global/samsung-electronics-unveils-worlds-first-dual-uhd-gaming-monitor-odyssey-neo-g9-57
@@MinimalisTech awesome and thank you for replying much appreciated. Any concern about the curve on the 57" its 1000r which is super curvey for producitivty or what u think ?
Wonderful Review! Ty for it, I am thinking about getting one for my Mac studio M2 Max especially for Productivity and the OLED panel it has, But I have a question, How to connect it with the mac studio since this monitor doesn't have a thunderbolt port, What method have you used to connect it with your MacBook?
Niiceee. I think the Mac mini would actually do a better job than my laptop. It’s got that hdmi 2.1 port. I thiiiiiink Mac can do 32:9 through hdmi 2.1
Yeah I got the G93SC, the non-smart one, as I read how the G95SC forces you to go to the hub menu every time. That would drive me insane. Don't really need all that app stuff as I have a smart TV for that, KODI etc. What I will say is only having one HDMI port is ridiculous at this price point. How stingy Samsung! Two minimum should be standard! I know I can use a USB-C - HDMI adapter but I shouldn't have to after spending this much cash. I'll be forced to running my mini PC through the G9 though and in the future the Switch 2 as well. I'd rather not manually switch out the cable wear the ports out 😅 Secondly, no dedicated button to go into sleep mode kind of sucks too. We have to fiddle about with the clunky menu button to enter power options when needed. For downloading games and torrents this is very important to prevent burn in.
@@MinimalisTech txs for your feedback! ..you prefer the LG even with the “low” ppi? I can imagine than the low curvature of the very large Samsy can also be an issue as you need to turn a lot your head to see all the screen.
If mainly for gaming i would lean towards the 45gr95qe. I’ve got two whole reviews on that monitor and I personally prefer it. The PPI is low for productivity but again if 80% is gaming I’d go with that. 21:9 aspect ratio is just more widely supported
depends do you wanna push it to 240hz? then no, but lets be honest 240 fps is overkll anyway, 120 fps could be possble in same games wth a 3080ti for sure
@@MinimalisTech I figured as much. I've been looking around and it seems to be the general consensus even though this monitor has better resolution quality. Thanks for the reply!
@@notmoroku Actually, a poll on Reddit prefers the G9 OLED but I am still undecided. The OLED G9 has the better res, ppi and glossy screen which really showcases the OLED. However that lower vertical space and 1800R curve are downsides.
I had the original odyssey G9 and went from that the the 45" LG, the sheer size of the LG and pure blacks far make up for the loss of horizontal sight, considering on all 3d games at 32:9 the edges of the screen are stretched regardless of what fov you go with. Don't have that problem on 21:9
I have a m1 macbook pro 16" with a 49" Odyssey G9 (the cheapest model) and I use the CalDigit Thunderbolt 4 hub. Gives me my 32:9 aspect ratio 5120x1440 perfectly fine. It is capped at 120hz though.
Why can't Manufacturers build this se platform but just for Gaming, I don't care about 90% of the options. Speed, colors everything for Smoth PC Highperformance is all I want. This Monotor is a Must have for Star Citizen. I just dislike all the filler.
i just bought the omen 27c so i think i'll pass buying this crazy monitor but it does look crazy & i know it'll be nice due to the screen size (mainly to watch movies)
There's absolutely no excuse for a $2200 49" monitor to lack I/O ports. Samsung is obviously nerfing it so you'll be tempted to buy next year's model again.
So im debating on buying a 49" my choices where this OLED G9 or the Neo G9, i do gaming but also a lot of Solidworks drawing on my pc, reading the comments i would be better off buying the Neo G9 because of potential burn in?
do people really play with a centered to screen keyboard placement and no mousepad? I see all the tech influencers doing this it seems so crazy to me lol
Issue with the G8 is that it's almost the same price here (dubai) and it's using older tech (qd-oled v1) which had half the burn in protection as compared to qd-oled v2 which the 49" uses (according to samsung) You can get the G9 and play in a 21:9 window and put other stuff on the sides.
Man that monitor is sick. Just not sure I want to see more kids clapping me. I like the “i didn’t see them” excuse I tell my dog all the time to hide my lack of skills.
Came here to say that as well, the old G9 already had 240Hz, I'm sitting in front of it :D the OLED just has a new panel and it seems a less aggressive curve
I know this has nothing to do with this video, but I’m trying to get an ergonomic chair and I was Told that the Cougar Argo One was Amazing can anyone tell me if you have used it? I’m 6,2” and I need to know if it is good or if there are other recomendations. Thank you
Typically I actually find it's better to grab an office chair over a "gaming" chairs. But looking at that one it actually looks pretty decently made. That lumbar support is prime and it looks breathable. Another chair I can recommend is the Autonomous Ergo Chair Pro.
I keep hearing that it's not for console, and while it's use case may be for better performance than consoles currently provide, you can still get the full potential of what console has to offer on this monitor, until you upgrade to a more expensive higher performance gaming rig. That's why I bought it. I want a gaming PC but can't afford one at the specs I desire, so I bought this monitor so I don't have to worry when I upgrade.
To me it's not worth it, not until they make it to use the whole screen watching movies. It's just not worth it. To me the immersivness is insane , but I can barely keep 240hz with a 3090 , not to mention that double display is still frustrating to manage. I hope another company can actually make the whole display usable watching movies and able to keep 240hz . If they fix that , it would be the best monitor.
It's not on the monitor that you can't watch the movies full screen on this. It's the aspect ratio. Movies and TV are generally 16:9 while this screen is 32:9 so there's no way to resize the image in a way that's not going to look stretched. The only way to fix that is literally to get a different size screen. Samsung is actually coming out with a 57in monitor that solves that problem while still being a ultra super wide but the resolution of it is pretty close to 8k so good luck driving games at that resolution.
@devantetoppin7879 Thanks for the heads up about the new monitor. Now to me, that's worth 1500- 2000. Because I can game and watch movies . Because why pay that much just to game when you won't be getting 240hz? I got the latest specs and couldn't get that much not to mention those popping noises. Anyways, i been sold that monitor with no regrets. Would be nice to see Sony get in the monitor game. I dont think Samsung should be making monitors. I rather LG , Alien, Asus or Sony. Every Samsung monitor I had, had some kind of issues. The one you mentioned I'll see what that's about when it comes out 👏🤝
The monitors a mess, I come from LG's and Samsungs quality control is disguting. GSync shutting off the screen, turning off the monitor and my 4080 pc. The interface is poor, not even an input button on the remote control. I've had to send it back.
Yeah the far corners would be more legible but in all honesty you're rarely going to fixated on those points for very long, especially during intense gaming sessions, so it's a minor complaint.
Sick review, thanks for doing that man! I'm annoyed at this product though, like you said, why not have a USB-C with simply 65w charging instead of that wack mini HDMI. Also how is a UI this dog shit in 2023 with a flagship product like this? The fact that you can't even change inputs from the remote has to be one of the dumbest things to exist. Bleh... So close!
This is strictly for racing & open world games!! Literally fps games wont do you good. Trust me I got the corsair xenon flex instead wayyyy better option
I have the LG version of the Flex. I play more FPS which is why I actually prefer that one. I pushed my competitive ranks with that 45” oled. Incredible monitor. This one was badass too but I agree with it not being so good for FPs
Isn't the size of the monitor going to be a problem when sitting close up for gaming ,I mean that's the size of a freaking TV. My TV is not even 49 inches. Lol
haha, it's not the same as a TV size wise. It's far more narrow but still goes 49" diagonally. It' wasn't as bad as I'd thought it be. It did take some neck turning when playing diablo 4 though to check my mini map etc. For TV's in a setup, I wouldn't go greater than a 42" C3 OLED
@@MinimalisTech thanks my men. It sure looks amazing. I'm looking into purchasing one in the near future mainly for fps gaming if it doesnt make my gaming worse than it is already...lol

I have this oled g9. Workon everyday. Perfect. Multi window. Text is clear due to the high dpi on the panel. Love this monitor. Tho I get screen flicker after sleep forcing a dp cable unplug and plug occasionally.
@@mark35mi I ended up buying the 57 inch model and that’s good
What is your PC specs?
Don't judge! I've got a 4090 build incoming,
Right now I'm rocking an RTX 2070 with an i7 and 16gb of RAM. It does surprisingly well against modern displays, but definitely need a spec bump to test things to the fullest
cheers!
I'm interessted in this monitor as a working device for programming.
I know its 1 month old.. but i wanna ask which would you use more pr prefer more LG Ultragear 45" Inch Oled or Samsung 49" Inch G9 Oled ??
45 lg oled I found more practical. Wasn’t as good for office work but I preferred it for gaming.
If you’re doing both a lot the Sammy id say is better.
@@MinimalisTech thanks I was going for Samsung too!
So apparently you can connect your samsung tablet via bluetooth to this monitor, but what does it do exactly? Stream the image to the tablet or the opposite?
It does deez
Fine to use for productivity and charts?
Yup! Although the Neo 59" is also coming soon, I think that would be better for productivity and charts. Higher PPI, wider, and better resolution. I'm tempted to check it out as well. It's practically double 4k displays in one. Definitely better for productivity/charts
news.samsung.com/global/samsung-electronics-unveils-worlds-first-dual-uhd-gaming-monitor-odyssey-neo-g9-57
Hi man, do u know if G93SC model also support console with aspect ratio selection?
For downloading games and torrents this is very important to prevent burn in.
..so where is your "still new" 45GR95QE now?
Still got it! I think I prefer that one over the Sammy.
@@MinimalisTech txs for your feedback!
..you prefer the LG even with the “low” ppi?
I can imagine than the low curvature of the very large Samsy can also be an issue as you need to turn a lot your head to see all the screen.
Hi!
You think should i buy 49" Samsung or lg 45gr95qe? I'm using pc in 80% for playing games :)
If mainly for gaming i would lean towards the 45gr95qe. I’ve got two whole reviews on that monitor and I personally prefer it.
The PPI is low for productivity but again if 80% is gaming I’d go with that. 21:9 aspect ratio is just more widely supported
@@MinimalisTech Thanks a lot :) I'm so scared about burn in but i will take a risk and buy LG45. Have a good day!
Would a 3080ti be power enough to push this monitor for gaming?
depends do you wanna push it to 240hz? then no, but lets be honest 240 fps is overkll anyway, 120 fps could be possble in same games wth a 3080ti for sure
D4 is clearly not running 21:9, maybe 25:9?
Oh shit you’re right. How’d I miss that.
That’s an odd ratio maybe I didn’t realize. Nice catch
Hey, what is your opinion between the LG45" 240hz OLED and this one? Which one do you prefer?
I actually prefer the LG 45” with the more curved screen. Didn’t expect to prefer that even though it’s a lower resolution.
Don't have that problem on 21:9
@@drunkhusband6257 I’ve got that one too! I think I also prefer the 45”. Just wish the PPI was higher
How bright does it get? That’s what’s more important
I have a m1 macbook pro 16" with a 49" Odyssey G9 (the cheapest model) and I use the CalDigit Thunderbolt 4 hub. Gives me my 32:9 aspect ratio 5120x1440 perfectly fine. It is capped at 120hz though.
This is a Oled 2k 1440. Coming from a LG oled 4k this monitor may have a 240hz but graphics wise is no where near the LG ultratech 4k monitor.
Impressive that you can run this monitor with a 2070 like mine
Why can't Manufacturers build this se platform but just for Gaming, I don't care about 90% of the options.
Speed, colors everything for Smoth PC Highperformance is all I want.
This Monotor is a Must have for Star Citizen. I just dislike all the filler.
dope! more power to you my guy. I just might be one of those 12 yr olds y'know :)
LOL, my man - you've probably slain me 40 times. Thanks for that ;)
i just bought the omen 27c so i think i'll pass buying this crazy monitor but it does look crazy & i know it'll be nice due to the screen size (mainly to watch movies)
I know people that paid full price pissed to see it on sale for $1599 already lmao.
Got it for 1599! Giving the G9 Qled to my son!!
There's absolutely no excuse for a $2200 49" monitor to lack I/O ports.
Samsung is obviously nerfing it so you'll be tempted to buy next year's model again.
Heck no. This will last me a decade hopefully 😂
So im debating on buying a 49" my choices where this OLED G9 or the Neo G9, i do gaming but also a lot of Solidworks drawing on my pc, reading the comments i would be better off buying the Neo G9 because of potential burn in?
I think so. I should have mentioned it in my review but the oled care features don’t seem as aggressive as LGs OLED monitor line up
do people really play with a centered to screen keyboard placement and no mousepad? I see all the tech influencers doing this it seems so crazy to me lol
Looks really cool but I’d choose the G8
G8 is pretty sweet! I actually reviewed that before too. Wish they had an OLED version
@@MinimalisTech They actually do now bro I believe it came out earlier this year
Issue with the G8 is that it's almost the same price here (dubai) and it's using older tech (qd-oled v1) which had half the burn in protection as compared to qd-oled v2 which the 49" uses (according to samsung)
You can get the G9 and play in a 21:9 window and put other stuff on the sides.
Man that monitor is sick. Just not sure I want to see more kids clapping me. I like the “i didn’t see them” excuse I tell my dog all the time to hide my lack of skills.
Lmao. I’ll just blame lag and not my lack of skill 👀
I was sold after hearing it has OLED
I would say its not worth it when tbe samsung odyssey neo g9 57 inch 8k will cost about 3299 Canadian dollar's thats about 2455 usd
I'm hoping to check that one out soon too!
It's not WORLDS 1st 240hz 49" gaming monitor... It's first OLED 240Hz 49".
Came here to say that as well, the old G9 already had 240Hz, I'm sitting in front of it :D the OLED just has a new panel and it seems a less aggressive curve
He said 49" 240 hz OLED monitor tho
@@Liamshavingfun Yeah, I was refererring to title which it seems like he already changed
0.03ms yes
This is perfect for my ps5
its too smalll get the 57 g9 next time.
Those huge black boxes in ps5 is a no go for me no thank you. Nice video tho
Thank goodness i bought this at $900 new.
Holy shit the price dropped on this is crazy half off
I keep hearing that it's not for console, and while it's use case may be for better performance than consoles currently provide, you can still get the full potential of what console has to offer on this monitor, until you upgrade to a more expensive higher performance gaming rig.
The one you mentioned I'll see what that's about when it comes out 👏🤝
It's $1600 on Amazon at this point.
actually
Crazy how it is $1500 now 😢
For the productivity OLED is very bad, say hello to burn-in, 2000-3000 hours and it's gone (source: RTings).
This is why I’m leaning towards an LG IPS ultra wide monitor.
@@Barbwire710 For working with color, IPS is the best; for HDR, fast VA (with Samsung MagicColor CPU) is better due to its contrast.
11 months later, half that price
Yes but cheapskate Asian parents will still have a fit 😂
The monitors a mess, I come from LG's and Samsungs quality control is disguting. GSync shutting off the screen, turning off the monitor and my 4080 pc. The interface is poor, not even an input button on the remote control. I've had to send it back.
I so so wish the curve was 1000R
Yeah the far corners would be more legible but in all honesty you're rarely going to fixated on those points for very long, especially during intense gaming sessions, so it's a minor complaint.
Nice
No, you're nice!
Trust me
I got the corsair xenon flex instead wayyyy better option
I have the LG version of the Flex. I play more FPS which is why I actually prefer that one.
I pushed my competitive ranks with that 45” oled. Incredible monitor.
This one was badass too but I agree with it not being so good for FPs
Isn't the size of the monitor going to be a problem when sitting close up for gaming ,I mean that's the size of a freaking TV. My TV is not even 49 inches. Lol
haha,
it's not the same as a TV size wise.
So much for the red dead remaster 😂
Bro right? I didn't end up getting it, lol.
Not gonna bash you for being a console gamer - don't care. Am gonna bash you for playing fps on consoles however 😂
Heard all you had to say until you said you're a console gamer. By default, you people are clueless.
LOL
This or the Lg 45in OLED what you think @MinimalisTech
Expensive...
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
using 2000bucks monitor with rtx 2070 ...🤔
For gaming outside a racing games or simulators completely unusable in my opinion.
