    People talking about the stretching on the corners, I don't get it. I own this monitor and never see it. I don't stretch to fit either which is absurd if you do. If a game don't support 32:9 the monitor supports the other ratios also. So what if you get the black bars on the side. You still get the awesome quality and if you turn off the lights, you don't even notice it.
    Famous saying I always use instead of focusing on the negative that fits here. It's better to have the option of 32:9 when you can use it instead of not having it when you can use it. Better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it.
    Maybe it's just me. But backbars do not distract me. I feel like I got multiple monitors in 1 and the picture quality is the best I've ever seen. 240hz is just gravy but nice.

      There's an easy fix. Try windows key + P. Then select second external display or something like that. Use an HDMI cable.

      Im not sure how you are not seeing stretching on corners, even in 21:9 its noticeable in so many games.

      I've tried lowering my fov down in some games to fix any "stretching" issues. I used to turn it up to 90° in most games playing on 16:9 if i can. Doing this in Sons of the Forest, for example, stretches the hell out if the sides and corners with this monitor. Almost fish eye like. Turning it to the default 80° reduces that a lot but you are still getting the better deal with more screen space anyway. Have not tested with a lot of games since I've only had it a couple of weeks now, but this might be the solution to that issue in some games. Especially if they can drop fov below default settings meant for traditional 16:9. @chy.0190

      Might be the game then. Elden ring and diablo 3 does not do this. Forza 5 and cyberpunk 2077 don't either. I wonder if it's games that support 21:9 but not 32:9 and stretching to fit. Either way.. it's not the monitor it's the game itself. Super ultra wide is a niche anyway.

      On 3 27" 1440p monitors atm. I use all three for productivity during the day as well. I'm really used to that amount of screen space, trying to get an idea if I should grab one of these and see if I can use 3 windows and see if them being a little smaller in width would be ok. Or maybe spend a bit more and get something 2160p, I can't run games at 4k ultra but I plan on building a new pc at the end of the year that will.

    Know this is five months old, but I had odyssey neo g9 49 inch monitor and I lost it in a house fire. I did everything with that monitor such as gaming, school work, and video content. I got an 32 inch monitor and I just don’t enjoy it as much as the 49 inch monitors.

    I know this is an older video now, but I wanted to say that this is one of the best video gaming experiences I have ever had. And I've been gaming my entire life as far back as I can remember. I have had an LG C1 for several years to game in 4k. I recently got this thing , and I am blown away. I like VR, don't get me wrong, but this is better for longer gaming sessions, and you still get that similar immersiveness with the 32:9 aspect ratio. Don't even notice the curve while gaming. Paired with an eye tracker for certain games, and you might as well be there. Not for everyone and not for every game, but if you are like me, and gaming is life, it is a life-changing experience, and this monitor is for you. If you can pick it up on sale, like I did, do it.

  • @manueldemirjian1575
    @manueldemirjian1575 Рік тому +23

    Hey, I wanna jump in real quick and share my experience with this monitor. I bought it a few months ago and I've been using it since. In your review you shared mostly the positives of the product, so I'm going to start with some negatives:
    1) DEAD PIXELS: First of all, after I set it on my desk for the first time and started using it, and I'm not kidding, 15 minutes after it was turned on for the first time, a vertical line of dead pixels apeared on the center of the screen. What that meant for me was to put it back in the box after literally 15 minutes of working time and send it back to service for a few weeks to get it fixed. Now, I'm not saying that will happen to you, but it happened to me, so I'm sharing it.
    2) BUBBLES: 2 months after I bought it small bubbles started to form on the panel which are visible when the screen is black / turned off. Now for a screen that I paid $1800 for, that's unacceptable. I am currently using it the way it is, just because I work on it and having to bring it to service AGAIN means that I have to go back to my old 2 x 16:9 monitor setup and completely mess up my productivity.
    3) GAMING MODE: 240Hz works only when "Gaming Mode" is enabled from the menu. If it's not enabled the monitor stays at 120Hz. Now you're gonna say, "just turn it on", but that comes with an annoying issue. The way this monitor works is that 240Hz will work only on full screen games where it does some sort of fullscreen optimizaion. If you want to Alt+Tab to discord or your browser or whatever, this becomes a huge pain in the ass. The monitor will start to flicker, the transitions are super slow and sometimes the don't even work. So you find yourself stuck in a black screen until the game just crashes or by some miracle pulls through. That issue really escalates when you try to open application like Viber, which for some reason is considered as an application that has to work in full screen, so every time you open an image in Viber the screen starts to flicker. So basically I am currently using the monitor in 120Hz for 90% of the time, and I'm turning "Gaming Mode" on only when I play Counter Strike, or some other competitive game.
    4) FONT ISSUE: There is a green undertone on all characters when you open a block of text on WINDOWS 10. That's why I decided to proceed with installing Windows 11 on my PC to eliminate this issue. I belive it's some sort of a driver thingy, because the G9 OLED has some new way of stacking pixels and it translates to this.
    5) OVERALL REVIEW: As a game developer I'm using game engines all the time. Game Engines use a lot of space on your screen. That's the main reason that I bought this monitor for. I am happy that I did, because apart from the reliability issues this monitor has been treating me good. The colors are great, the real estate is amazing, the simplistic design of the product fits really well on my desk, it's great for gaming and productivity apps like the Adobe stack, Visual studio and Unreal Engine.
    If you consider buying this monitor I suggest you extend your warrenty, because there is a high chance that you're gonna need it. Ask me any questions if you want more details. Cheers!

    I want OLED but I do not think its ready for me yet since I do mostly work from home productivity, photo editing, etc so I look at a lot of text and have a lot of static images.
    I am not going to make my workflow suffer to protect the screen so I decided to get the Neo.
    But I have a 27+34+27 setup now and I would never replace my triple monitor setup with a single 32:9 monitor and basically lose an entire monitor of space, so while the price is not as good as the current sale of the 49" G9 I got the 57" G9 for the dual 4K experience. This way my realestate does not suffer and I can finally "upgrade" to 4K.
    Super sharp text, more immersion, etc.
    I also picked up 3x of the 32" G8's
    I did traditional 3x monitor setups for a very long time and always loved it for productivity and games, bezels never bothered me when gaming, and having dedicated screens to full screen games/applications, etc to is really nice.
    I am just a bit worried about fitting 3x 32" on my desk, and gaming performance at 3x 4K.
    So I'll have to test scaling the resolution down to say 1440P and see how it looks on the 4K screens, or perhaps just use the 57" where dual 4K while still demanding is much more doable.
    I have to alwasy have an odd number of monitors on my base layer I cant be looking directly at a bezel and have to look left/right all day to work so while the 57" is two 4K monitors I can make it work, but I'll still need atleast one monitor above it for when things need a dedicated monitor due to how some applications work.

    Had an original Odyssey G9, went back to 21:9 due to every 3d game being stretched on edges at 32:9 regardless of fov. You can clearly see this in gameplay videos, it gets very annoying after a while. 21:9 with higher fovs has less problems.

    • @miiiiiiiiiiick
      @miiiiiiiiiiick Рік тому +8

      While I know what you're talking about, I personally find the stretch right on the edges to not matter much - if I focus on the centre of the screen and let the edges fill my periphery I can't notice it at all. I only notice it if I go and deliberately focus on it. I love the 32:9, especially for games like bannerlord, tarkov and baldurs gate 3.

    • @drunkhusband6257
      @drunkhusband6257 Рік тому +3

      I just couldn't get over the stretching on the edges. Not much of a point of having that much screen if the edges are distorted. If this wasn't the case would be perfect. I honestly wish 24:9 aspect ration monitors were a thing because there is no stretching up to that aspect ratio.@@miiiiiiiiiiick

    You bring up the specs, but you're missing out on mentioning that unlike the samsung G9 neo which had a VRR range of 94hz-> 240 hz and having games dipping in and out of that range causing LFC to trigger and untrigger caused hiccups, is the new improved VRR range on the G9 g95sc, at 48hz -> 240hz meaning that only if if you dip below 48hz(48fps) will LFC trigger which is something you can much easier control rather than having to lock a majority of games at 80fps :)
    to me it's a major selling point of this display above prior generations of G9's that almost nobody seem to mention.

      I play Escape from Tarkov, Bannerlord, and Baldurs Gate 3 on it without issue. It's bloody amazing. Starfield - haven't played it yet but there's a mod to enable the correct aspect ratio (all skyrim/fallout games needed the same thing). That's all I've really tried to date, but I believe anything older needs to be played in windowed mode or whatever.

    No mention of burn in at all. OLED looks so amazing but ia it really for gaming. Especially for those who use games that have fixed HUD hours on end?

      Have you gamed for hours on end on a modern Oled screen and had it suffer burn in? Or are you back seat fear mongering? It's one thing to say this is my experience. It's another to just speculate.

    G9 is great but the res it comes in is just not ideal. No one can effectivly use this much screen daily. They really missed the chance for a 38Inch 3840x1600

      Get it. I found a open box at Best Buy for $860 and I’m pretty happy with it so far.

    If I play a shooter in say, 1400 p - will the monitor auto-switch to letter boxing it or will it stretch the image?

      If you put game in windowed mode just put custom height of 1440 and all is well…..

    I'm considering this monitor, but I need to know can I choose to play all my games in 16:9 or will I encounter games that just won't work on this monitor?

      Yes you can change the Aspect ratio on the monitor options, I did that when gaming on consoles.
