    As a prior owner of the 49" G9 OLED Ultrawide (returned it for flickering) and a current LG 45" Ultrawide, I can easily state that I prefer the 45" LG Ultragear. The reasons I prefer the LG are the 800R curve (It's Perfect for this size), the Vertical Size (Top to Bottom) is much larger on the LG and is great for sim racing games as it seemed too "squished" on the Samsung monitor for my liking. The colors and desktop clarity are slightly better on the Samsung and if you're using the monitor primarily for productivity, it most likely the way to go. But, if you're primarily focused on Gaming, the LG 45" is clearly the best choice in my mind. Totally agree with your opinion here too. Great video! Also, at BestBuy, the monitor is $500 off but, if you add a $49 BestBuy Total membership to your cart, you will save an additional $200 on the LG 45" Ultragear monitor. Happy Holidays Gamers!

      Oh nice! That's a handy tip! Thanks for that.
      Interesting to hear you prefer the LG for sim racing games too, most people go straight for the 49" for that!

      Haha funny cause your reasons is why I switched to the OLED G9 from the LG. The LG stretches the same vertical lines on the G9 to make a taller image hence the PPI number. So the image looked unatural to me. Also might be my room but had a nasty light bending reflection with the LG which messed my vision up while it was black...wonder if anyone else had that.

      LG is supposedly releasing the same cut in 5k2k 144-165hz (I’ve seen mixed reports) in late 2024.
      I would still personally prefer to see that in 42” instead of 45” but that will probably be my next upgrade regardless.

    You’ve made a mistake a couple times throughout, comparing wqhd and qd-oled, but these are two completely unrelated things.
    Wqhd is the resolution. “Wide quad Hd” meaning 21:9 1440p.
    Qd-oled is a panel type, the LG equivalent is Woled (white oled)
    So the lg is a WQHD WOLED, while the Samsung is a QD-OLED DQHD.
    I know, too many letters, but it’s important to get this stuff right.

    My biggest gripe with gaming on super ultrawide is the view port distortion on the sides that happens in most games. Some games have techniques such as barrel distortion to combat this, but some games I find unplayable because of the terrible distortion -- especially older games. I think it was Borderlands 2 that .. just, no.

I'll be using them for watching UA-cam and productivity tasks like reading stock market charts about 90% of the time, and for gaming less than 10% of the time. Will two 800R curved monitors be suitable for this setup, or might the curve be too intense?

    The only thing that bothers me with the 45" LG Ultragear are PPI and the resolution. PPI should at least 120 and resolution should be a bit higher than 3440 x 1440. 3840 x 1600 could be the sweet spot.

    3840x1600 on a 42" screen would have been perfect. 99PPI, ever so slightly more usable with the smaller size (maybe 1000R curve?). But I doubt LG are going to develop an entire panel just for that.
    Still, if I had to choose one, for mixed gaming/productivity, I'd take the LG. I'd get less annoyed by the low PPI than I would the drawbacks of the Samsung. I guess I grew up on VGA so I'm biased there...

    My philips 43" 4k screen... not enough dpi. It probably matters less for games, but a 27" 1440p screen looks much better for text.
    Also, I would have thought that there would be an option to run the screens at 1440p native resolution in the middle of the monitor and just leave the sides blank. That seems like an obvious way to do both widescreen productivity and high-performance games if you aren't running a top-end graphics card.

I have put them next to each other and it is really night and day. It is as if the other monitor is covered in Vaseline. It is noticeable in some games and extremely noticeable in others and in any game with foliage and fine detail is in another level. Stop kidding yourself. I wish it was LG making such monitor instead of Samsung but I guess we will have to wait

    I would like to ask about the refresh rate, because I associate 240hz with very smooth gameplay, but I see in the material that these games look as if they were running at 100hz, what is it like to sit in front of this monitor, do the games actually look like 240hz?

    • @Mr.BananaManYT
      @Mr.BananaManYT 5 місяців тому

      if the games arent running at 240hz then it won't look like 240hz. Only aim for higher refresh rates if you system supports it.

    Wait, at 2:40 you compare LG's WQHD (a resolution) to Samsung's QD-OLED (Panel technology). To be fair, it should have been either "WOLED vs QD-OLED" or "WQHD vs DQHD"

      Depends what you use it for. If you want short but wide (long), with a glossy look go the G9 OLED. Problem is Samsung quality control for their monitors are atrociously bad. And the G9 OLED gets very hot from the center of the screen and along the bottom bezel of the monitor. If you want better immersion, greater vertical height at the expense of it being less wide and don't mind a matte finish, go the LG 45". LG is also better for quality control. Some people complain about the lower pixels per inch (PPI) but a lot of users have no problems with it.

  • @HyggeKrogen
    @HyggeKrogen 10 місяців тому

    I personally do not like the 1000R curve so most likely also do not like the 800R curve. I still have my G9 OLED as it is for me much better for thing not gaming related so I like the 1800R curve alot better then the more aggressive curves.
    I do not like mat finish as that makes the color and screen look not as crisp.
    So I am very happy they did not make this as a 1000R curve and keep it as it is, and it is amazing in gaming.

    Went from a Xiaomi Mi Gaming 34" ultrawide to the G9 OLED, I was really afraid that I wouldn't like the G9 in my almost ALWAYS lit up room with alot of daylight coming in aswell.
    Glad to say the G9 handles brightness way better than my matte finish 34" did!
    Also the debate between peak brightness, I don't get it because I would not like my screen to be brighter than the G9!

    I personally waited for monitor like Samsung G9 OLED (OLED, 240hz, streaming, gaming cloud, usb-c basically all future proof!) However, the biggest concern or downer for me was absence of usb-c power delievery (USB - C PD charge)
    How does it sound to you? does it bothers you for the fact that you can't charge your device (pc or tablet or w/e) that only cast or extend the screen but doesn't charge with usb-c...
    let me know!

    • @PeteMatheson

      Yeah the USB C thing is missing from lots of these screens lately, which does suck.
      I’m looking at docks to solve that for now but I’d still prefer them to include USB C in the first place

    • @sml0613
      @sml0613 10 місяців тому

      @@PeteMatheson 1000% agree usb-c charging was pretty common thing since it came out and then they are silently taking it out lately. I hope they include it back again with 100w pd... lol then i wouldnt mind less-optimized Tizen OS.... BTW thank you for sharing a great video and its comaprison. I've been on your videos lately and great feedback from actual usage and comparison
