@@JaredConnell I’m looking at eBay right now. There are plenty of 3DS systems for less than $350-$300. Not a lot of the special editions but a regular old 3DS? Hell, I even picked one up locally for like 80 bucks.
I got mine in 2011, when I was still kid. I just found it while cleaning my room, I only had like 2 3ds games, the other games where the old DS games from my sibling. Anyway I homebrewed it about 2 weeks ago and now I am enjoying the well aged 3ds libary.
That green light! That little green light. I use to look forward to that everyday. I am still not even sure if I got every puzzle panel completed, but they all of them I have downloaded, have been complete. It was h*** of a run.
I love the 3DS. One of my favorite systems ever. I started the year with some Fire Emblem Awakening. Now I'm playing A Link to the Past and Dr. Mario as Virtual Console downloads alongside Siesta Fiesta as a 3DS download and Dead or Alive Dimensions physically. My favorites for the system are Super Mario 3D Land, The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, Fire Emblem Echoes Shadows of Valentia, Kirby Planet Robobot, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, Pokémon Sun/Moon, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, and Mario Kart 7. So many great memories.
I've had so many memories with my 3DS's. My first one was the original blue 3ds, but when it stopped working I got a 3DS xl. My first game for the 3DS was New Super Mario Bros 2, and I've played so many classic NES games on the 3ds because of virtual console. I also remember playing pokemon and trading them with friends at school who also had a 3ds.
Will always be one of my favorite consoles ever lots of amazing memories I’m glad I got to experience this era I still play it every so often especially for the Kirby games on there
I think the switch missed out not having the Streetpass as a feature. I miss having a reason for carrying around a Nintendo handheld. And did I hear somewhere in the video that y’all were in elementary school in 2013? What was your experience with these types of systems as a kid
Yeah it's just so inconvenient to carry a switch around, even a switch lite. I miss being able to fit a handheld in my pocket. That was like the whole appeal; portable gaming.
Streetpass is something that probably couldn’t be replicated unless Nintendo chose to make a mobile app of sorts. And yeah, between PC gaming and 3ds gaming many people at my school didn’t have a 3ds, opting for ps3 and Xbox 360, making it kind of hidden in the elementary school gaming scene
Dead or Alive Dimensions was one of my first 3DS games. I remember getting it while on vacation in California. Still have it to this day. My original 3DS is a bit banged up partially from occasionally getting dropped but it is still working great. The 3DS is still one of my favorites in the world, and the impending closure is what convinced me to get Fire Emblems Awakening and Echoes. I’ve even gotten two Shin Megami Tensei games, amongst others, including the DSiWare ports of Speak and Learn Chinese and Spanish. I also recently got myself a New Nintendo 3DS XL. A year since the announcement of the eShop closure has gone by so fast, and I’m already so heartbroken over it that I feel like I may have to write a song dedicated to the 3DS.
@@egonyt Same. I have discovered so many games that I only realized during the eShop closure sequence that i couldn’t live without. I hope someday they will release a handheld consul where three DS cartridges are backwards compatible, or at least release Virtual Console ports of 3DS games for the Switch.
I remember having the 2DS, but it's long gone, but i had tons of great memorys with my 2DS while it still had it, like Animal Crossing New leaf, New Super mario bros 2, Super Mario maker for the nintendo 3ds, and Super Smash bros for the nintendo 3DS. its sad that 3DS's are hard to find nowadays, the only way you can get one now is on ebay, and the games too, and it's sad the 3DS Eshop is gone, but we can still get games with Mods for the 3DS, i plan to buy a 3DS someday again to revist my childhood
I did the same thing and have had some good moments playing online games like MK7, Kid Icarus, and Pokemon. Even if Streetpasses are scarce, when you do get them it's so neat
I got my aqua blue one just after the price drop, OoT and Nintendogs were my first games on the system. I was one of the few actually excited for Nintendogs, because not long before, I'd gotten into the original on ds. Some highlights for me are, Link between worlds, monster hunter 4 Ultimate, metroid Samus returns, smash, rythm paradise megamix. I could go on lol. The first console I bought for myself as the black and orange new XL, got that in 2016 when I was in my second to last year of high school, love that one.
My gf and I still have our 3DS consoles despite us moving on to newer hardware to play video games with. It's our favorite consoles to go back to and play. Especially considering I have a very beefy 3DS/DS game collection that I've been building up for years.
I didn't get one until 2013, a year after graduating highschool. My first games for it were pokemon x, etrian odyssey untold the millennium girl, and mario kart 7. I remember getting pokemon x while on a road trip and srarting it in the car. Watching fletchling fly around made me car sick lol
I’ve always heard etrian odyssey was really good. And now that it’s on switch more people will play it. But it was always so nice to take it on road trips since you could even come across other 3DS users
@@egonyt Agreed. I took my 3ds to an anime convention once and there were so many streetpasses. I still play my 3ds today. I'm actually playing through Mario and luigi dream team for the first time. I also play all of my ds games on it as well. I was really hoping we'd get some of the gba pokemon games on the 3ds eshop. I have sapphire, emerald, and firered physically but can no longer grow berries for contests so I would've jumped on digital copies day one. I own both omega ruby and alpha sapphire though because I had to revisit Hoenn. Etrian odyssey is super fun. I'm glad the first three are getting switch releases. ( even though the untold versions of 1 and 2 from 3ds aren't there). It'll be weird making maps without the stylus.
Animal crossing new leaf was my first animal crossing. But I got it after new horizons so the online stuff ( like peoples online houses) places like that were empty on my save file. I do have new horizons but I rarely play it. I named my island Rokkenjima. I wonder if I can make it like the original lol.
To me, new leaf will be a bit better because it takes away some of the control you have in New Horizons, making it feel a lot more realistic as a mayor
I had the pink DS for a long time and got the pink DSi in summer 2010 i never had the 3DS i played Nintendo dog all the time and had a few different ones and i had 2 American Girl ds games so many other games.
I’ve been playing my 3DS again lately! Having a blast. Such a good system. Great video btw 👍🏽
I’ve also found myself playing it a lot recently. Despite all the new games coming out I still come back to my 3DS. And thank you!

I'm so glad I bought 2 3DS before the covid price hike. It's still my favorite console of all time
I agree. It’s been so hard to collect for the console as of late. But it’s always nice to find a game or two for a pretty low price
They aren’t even that expensive. Are people really so broke they can’t swing a few hundred bucks?
@@egonyt Yeah but there’s almost no reason to collect physical games. They provide no up-side vs. loading up an SD card.
@@leeartlee915 ya they're so cheap that a used one is more than a new switch lol
