Out of curiosity, I just turned 21 and finished high school, who do you have to contact, what school do you have to go to, and what do you do to get a job at Nintendo?
The answer to this is the same for all companies: Go to their website and check the careers page. But you're young. Don't limit yourself by choosing a brand for a job. Why did they get rid of the ds? It is so cool and I miss it everyday(even though I have one) I wear gloves whenever I play my 3ds just because I want to preserve it

I played hours and hours of Mario 64 DS when I was in middle school and I consider it to be one of my favorite games. Enjoy your increased life expectancy 😁
@@traviscunningham7062i mean it's Def not control wise but the graphics look so good and all the extras are super cool. I just wish there was a mod for 3ds where it had analog control with all the extra bells and whistles. But objectively the controls are bad unless you did the weird touch pad control scheme which I couldn't fathom being confortable longform
It hindsight, the Nintendo DS is probably one of the most important gaming consoles in my entire life. I could never have seen that during my time playing it during middle school and high school, but the butterfly effect that it had would go on to affect the rest of my life in some of the best ways. In addition to giving me several games that I still love to play to this day, including Mario 64 DS, and and enhanced version of Mega Man Battle Network 5, it also gave us what I consider to be the best out of the little known Boktai series, known outside Japan as Lunar Knights. I sunk countless hours into this game, and fell in love with the character designs, the fast-paced gameplay, the charming voice acting, and the kicking music. This game also makes good use of every important feature that the console offers for your standard DS game, including the touch screen and microphone, but without being overly gimmicky. It updated some of the core gameplay of its predecessors and honestly it improved in several areas. However, what was most important in hindsight for me specifically, was that I experienced my first Pokemon game on the DS. Yeah, I was really late to the party. But, Pokemon Heart Gold was my first, and it led to a several year long obsession. And that obsession would eventually lead to me meeting my wife. I'm not even joking, I sincerely met my wife because of Pokemon. And that wouldn't have happened without the Nintendo DS. It continued to be important during our early dating years because whenever I would go to her house to hang out with her and her sisters, we would play Mario Kart or Mario Party DS using download play. They didn't have many multiplayer games on their other consoles, so we had several hours of good and bonding moments with these games. Even though when it first came out I was hesitant about the touch screen and thinking that the console was gimmicky, I wouldn't trade the experience of getting that DS Lite for Christmas for the world because it's set into motion a chain of events that has improved my life in ways that I can't even begin to quantify.
@@mrcoolguy32 Bro the steam deck sounds incredible. You play Ds Emulators (or any other emulator) by jailbreaking the thing? or is it possible to it as it is?
The Nintendo DS is already advanced for its time. It's cool that the DSi pre-dated the idea of touch screen devices way before smartphones were introduced.
When I heard the DSi menu theme it was like I was just hit by a truck... I probably haven't heard that music once in a decade, but I still got awakened by memories instantly after just the first couple of notes. During my childhood/teenage years the DSi was the only console I was allowed to own. Many memories that were almost gone are forever bound to that handheld, many bad ones tbh, which was also the first device I owned that had a camera. Today photos and videos of that time live only in my mind along with the unforgettable experiences in many games which have indelebly shaped the person (and player) I am today... and I also had quite some fun, as a child, dealing with R4 cards. You made me cry after a long time, thanks Liam.
You have to keep things in perspective. The DS was pure novelty back when it released. There was no blueprint after all, it was a portable with 2 screens and touch controls? It was unheard of

I actually have super fond memories of pictochat. My brother and I didn't get our own phones until we were 12, so these allowed us to stay up and chat late at night long after our parents had sent us to bed. It felt pretty revolutionary for a couple a kids with limited access to technology 😂
Holy crap, I had forgotten all about Flipnote Studio, but as soon as you started playing the animations, it all came back to me. I remember every single one of those animations you showed.
@@jacobrose7780 I'm going to have to look him up now, because the name is immediately familiar. I'm guessing he was the big action stick figure animator?

The moment I knew the DS was legendary was my absolute favorite memory from middle school: I had a very stereotypical bully. Picked on me, threw wads of paper at me, called me names, you know the one. But one day, after school, he came up to me and noticed I had a DS. I asked him if he played Pokemon, and lo and behold - he brings out a DS as well! For a few blessed, blessed minutes before our parents came to pick us up, we battled each other in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, and it actually felt like we could get along - like, we laughed and had fun. At the time I couldn't process it, but I hold this memory VERY dear. It held two very important learning moments for me: 1 - Video games bring people....together?! Maybe Nintendo is onto something with this "DS" thing. 2 - People have more depth than what I had thought. Every now and again, I'll think about this moment - and after getting home from a kind of rough day at work, this video brought me back to that exact time in history. I felt relaxed again. I hope that kid is doing well. Hopefully you're still into Pokemon and playing video games today.
The Nintendo DS still is and always will be a huge part of my childhood along with the PS2. I've spend so many hours playing games like Kirby Superstar Ultra and even more hours on Pokemon Black & White 2. Truely one of the greatest portable consoles of all time.
The Nintendo DS is one of my biggest regrets. I wish I had given it a chance instead of passing on it for the PSP. It’s a timeless system that was way ahead of its time in innovation.
I vivdly and deeply felt what you said about the DSI. Between childhood illness and trauma myself, the DS and DSI hold a special place in my heart. Awesome video man.
I was a 3DS kid. This video might not be directed to me, but I very much can relate to the fondness of looking back at old photos stored in these devices... nostalgia is a very peculiar feeling
Same here with 3DS. But you know the 3DS is essentially the DS by proxy. Kids growing up with the 3DS still experienced most of the magic that kids with the DS did.

@@paulgilbert5278 Being around for Pokemon Dash on the original fatboy DS was something else. The 3DS was great but having been around for the launch of the original was incredible. You have to understand that before this there was the Gameboy Advance (great in its own right) with a single screen. Dual screen with one being a touch screen? Amazing. Not to mention you could still play GBA games on the OG DS and DS Lite. Pokemon Diamond and Pearl even made use of GBA Pokemon cartridges to find pokemon in the wild. Another massive jump from GBA was the wifi and local wireless connection with Pictochat and DS Download Play (Mario Kart DS parties anyone?). To do multiplayer on a GBA you had to use a link cable 😂 Later on, they did make a wireless adapter for GBA which I guess is a precursor.
The ds just had a certain charm that no other console on this planet has. Sure the wii was so iconic that everyone had 2, but same with the ds lineup. It was just to nice having something to play on the go or just chilling outside with friends and the ds absolutely nailed it
I got the original DS at launch and got the new ones until the 3DS in 2012. The DSi is my absolute favorite console ever. Having the ability to connect to the Internet opened up a ton of possibilities for all the downloadable titles and interactive online communities like Flipnote Hatena. It was an amazing device that was far above what the average smartphone could do in 2009.
I will always be grateful for the DS for giving 11 year old me the chance to be Chrono Trigger, my favorite game of all time! And many people say that the DS version of Chrono Trigger is the best version of the game too!
Btw, I love the Nintendo DS 3D graphics and it surprisingly aged well in art. I don't use Twitter anymore and I can't remember the name anymore but there is a famous DS artist that I liked to follow.

as a DSI kid I squealed when I saw this on my page, it was my last reminder as a child of my extended family when they were trapped in Venezuela for years, and I’ve preserved the one my cousin gifted me ever since, thank you
It just hit me today that next year will mark the 20th anniversary of the DS. Coincidentally, I was wondering if you were going to make a retrospective of it this morning. Funny how life works.
THE WII, the best console of its generation. Mario games that were outstanding (Galaxy series) 100% backward compatible with Gamecube. Possible to play with Gamecube controllers... Only thing it lacked is a HDMI cable
Another console I had but was never able to truly enjoy to the fullest because I had either no friends or no idea these features/games existed. Thank you for doing these retrospectives and giving my childhood new angles to consider!
Im 46 from Spain and suffering 20 years with anxiety but for some reason Nintendo in general but the handhelds in first place, help me a lot in my dark moments! your video moved me because I felt every word of what you said. That people has something diferent in their way to create games for us. Mr. Iwata was so great! I still enjoying NDS with Drastic Emulator in my tablet. I wish you Merry Christmas! 🎉
Hell yeah been waiting for this one man. The DS was such an amazing system I have a lot of good memories with it as a kid I’m glad I got to experience it in its peak
What a wave of nostalgia. I remember getting the OG DS release year for Christmas. I got Mario 64 DS and Feel the Magic XY/XX and played so much. Mario 64 was so awesome to me because I never got to play the OG on it's own as I never had an N64. The included minigames, characters and changes made it the perfect launch game for me to sink time into. A couple other friends got DS' as well and we would goof off on pictochat outside in a circle drawing multipage characters. A weird quirk that I had to deal with was being left-handed, as many games play and control better as right handed. Interestingly enough, the strap that came with it had a small plastic cap on the end where you would slip your thumb through and could use it like a "joystick." I remember controlling Metroid Prime Hunters basically like a FPS and smoking everyone in the neighborhood. The GBA compatibility was awesome too and bringing up Pokemon from Leaf Green and Emerald into Diamond was an amazing feature. Over time though, I started playing it less and less. I eventually got an Xbox and discovered Xbox Live with Halo 2. Made tons of friends online and at school. No one played DS and I spent my time at home playing on the TV talking to friends instead of huddled on the couch by myself. Even though I would still play a ton of 3DS and Switch through their lifespans, the magic wasn't there anymore as my interests and trends changed. Gone were the days on game share Mario Kart during breaks. Everyone has smartphones with game apps, music, social media, etc. As I moved farther into adulthood the concept of portable gaming was long gone. Playing on your phone in a waiting area, or a Switch in brief moments of travel or lounge was the norm. I'll miss those simple days of huddling around, laughing our asses off at a 5 page mural of Shrek fighting every character we could draw.
Yeah, left-handedness can really screw with game controls. Two of the worst offenders are TWEWY and Kid Icarus Uprising (yeah, not for the DS, but whatever).
I will always have memories of my friends and I playing Mario Kart DS on the bus ride on our way to school. It was a pretty long bus ride, so everyday, we would race against each other and it was so much fun.
A lot of my memories before I turned 14 are gone, but there's still so much positive memories from me playing with my DSi. Thank you for this nostalgia trip, I really needed it.
Thanks Liam! I really enjoyed this video and have a ton of fond memories with the DS as well. The DS was also the first Nintendo system I owned as a kid alongside the Wii, and I love the creativity and uniquely chill and fun vibes that both systems and alot of their games have.
Even though I barely remember playing New Super Mario Bros. (nor was I really invested in it), I still somehow can't help but feel nostalgia to hear Mario say "buh-bye!" when you close the DS.
Honestly teared up at the World Ends With You section. I was a teenager when I played that game and it did have a huge impact on me. I think subconsciously it was the perfect primer to help me really connect with other people once I went to college and to leave the cult I grew up in. I don’t know who I’d be without it. I wasn’t sure if you were going to mention it in this retrospective, considering it’s a little more niche than some other games and there’s so much to cover. But it really does blend its story, gameplay and themes beautifully. Ending on Flipnote Studio was perfect- never again will animation be so accessible and it breaks my heart. That truly was a wonderful font of creativity for people at any and all levels and I’m glad to learn there are preservation efforts out there. Great video- your retrospectives are always so touching. Just found you and am going through and binging them!
I didn't have consoles like the PS or Wii when I was young, but I played hours and hours on the DS. Great memories and an important part of my childhood 😄
A fantastic retrospective for a fantastic system. The DS was the first ever gaming system that I actually owned for myself, I only learned about it because I saw my cousin playing on one and let me have a go, and that was what got me into gaming in the first place. New Super Mario Bros and Pokemon Heartgold still being some of my favourite games to date because of it! - so the DS has a very special place in my heart :)
The DS Lite is my favorite game console of all time. It had a massive library of DS and GBA games which you could swap out, the dual screen/touch screen gimmicks were actually novel and useful, and there was so much creativity and unique experiences that I adore.
Oh man the DSi bit kinda got to me. I share the same nostalgic sentiment that you do except it's with the OG 3DS. Takes me back to my final years of childhood in the early 2010s. Had many pics of my old dog as a puppy at that time, family trips, and a lot of old youtube videos I filmed back in the day with my mario toys. It got stolen from me around summer 2015 and along with losing my system, I lost all those childhood memories😔I would kill to be able to look back and see those again, but sadly I cannot and it's just fond memories for me now. Whenever I hear 3DS themes such as the photo app or settings, it always takes me right back yet brings some sadness attached to it, as simpler times and old childhood memories are gone forever. With all that being said, the 3DS gave me many fun hours of gameplay and fond memories playing multiplayer with friends, and overall an experience to my last years of childhood that I will greatly cherish forever.
I recently got back into DS games after finding my old blue DSi and was looking for videos like this the other day, so this being uploaded was absolutely perfect timing.
A great library is a great library, and the DS's unique hardware makes it worth all playing on. I still break out my 3DS for DS games, and I kept a DS to play GBA games on a bigger brighter screen. Great retrospective!
I was born in 2000 and was the perfect age to experience the DS’s journey, I remember I got the og ds in 2005, the ds lite Christmas 2006 and dsi/dsixl, 3ds and ect…. I remember every tiny sound and aspect from these devices, the games and all, it’s a heavy feeling of nostalgia, with a touch of sadness as these times were so long ago in a much simpler time to be a kid. I remember getting an iPod touch in 2013, and kinda phasing out of ds’s until the last year where I took a look at all my old ds’s still in mint condition, and all my sounds and recordings were there, the fact that it’s been 20 years since I got my first ds is crazy to, I’m glad I got to grow up in a time without smart phones and all this crazy social media stuff that’s sadly consuming todays youth with tik tok and all that crap.
I still have my DS Lite to this day as well as my most played DS games some I don't have anymore but the memories I have at it during car trips and playing with my cousins was such an enjoyable childhood! Played MKDS,New Super Mario Bros,Fossil Fighters and its Sequel which r severely underrated,Spore Creatures,Lego BatMan which was the 1st game I 100% until my cousin deleted the save which well I definitely wasn't happy about that,Kirby Super Star Ultra,Pokemon Platinum was the 1st main series game I played in the series love Gen 4 to this day,Pokemon Ranger, and messing around in PictoChat with my cousins.
When I reached the BrainAge portion of this video i suddenly remembered, back when I watched Merlin with my friend, seeing behind the scenes photos of members of the cast playing with their DS Specifically seeing the actor who played King Uther holding a pink DS (which i also own!) Made me really realize how widespread the DS was at the time
This was a very delightful video to watch. The DS was my very first gaming console, and even when I toss away the rose-tinted glasses, I still admire so much about it to this day. The flipnote section of the video really spoke to me, given how that was pretty much my introduction to the internet and the idea of online fandoms. Whether it be with the games or with the software, I think that everybody has that same fondest for the system that both you and I have!
About year ago I found my old dsi plus the charger at my parents place. I turned it on for the first time in years, on home screen was old picture of my dog that had past couple years ago. I started balling my eyes out. Thank you for this video it threw me back at the older simple times
I remember once when I was little, I lost my stylus, so I used toothpicks instead. But for some reason the toothpicks were dyed blue, so the sweat on my fingers rubbed off the dye and I ended up with blue fingers after a session of Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games. Good times!
one of my fondest ds memories was going on a plane and almost every kid had a ds there, we were all on pictochat spamming in the chatroom, everyone was giggling and having fun. I ended up befriending the kid sitting behind me afterwards and we traded bakugan lol. I brought my ds with me everywhere and had every version. To this day I still play all of them!
Flipnote Studio was amazing! The DS is definitely the best handheld ever. Such a great moment in time to be a young teenager before smart phones with a DS system. I had a phat DS first and then got a DSi when they came out. My favorite to play with friends was Mario Party DS - it let you play with others who don't own the game through the download play feature. I played and loved every game you featured in this video except for the FPS one, and they are all so great.
I had my DS on my person for a loooooooong time as a kid. I remember taking it to a family friend's house, having The Legendary Starfy on, and having its music on while playing table tennis in real life. Good times.
43:46 I first got my DSi during the twilight years of Flipnote Hatena, and I remember seeing this exact flipnote before I ever knew how to save them. I genuinely thought I'd never see this note again so thanks a lot for including it :)
hi liam, havent watched the full video yet, but thank you for always making wonderful essays to listen to while im at work! i rly appreciate all the effort you put in your videos :) Edit: once again proven right, this was a great video :D
I didn't grow up with a DS. Back then my parents wouldn't buy my anything past the PS1 and GBA era. I was only able to buy a DS in 2016 when I got my first job. All those pent up frustrations of not having a DS for years, released. I played the heck out of it. It's been years. Sadly, the DS is basically dead to me because the charger was busted, and there's no shops in my country that would sell old video game equipments. RIP my DS. it's been a nice time.
When I was in middle school, the pictochat room was filled while riding on the school bus, it is a beautiful memory of a bygone era. Almost seems like a different world thinking back on it.. good times
A great Christmas gift from Liam. Thanks, G! I pre-ordered the DS on the OG launch and was literally obsessed with it. Playing Pokemon Pearl, Metroid Hunters, Mario Kart, and other titles gave rise to many great memories.
As the world's biggest 3DS fan, I'm appalled and disgusted that you would even use the internet settings track to talk about DSi software. But in all seriousness you brought back a lot of memories I had with the DS since I would play it in a time where I hadn't developed a consciousness. I'll always love the Sonic Rush series and Mario Kart DS
This video is really special, I can tell how much passion and work was put into the script of it. You really did a wonderful job expressing how important the DS was.
Man this makes me want to blow off the dust on my 3DSxl and GBA sp, being able to play 4/5 generations of amazing handheld games is a real treat, especiallg when you can get a bunch of them on the cheap
Such a great video! I love how in-depth you went with everything. The DS was my childhood, and I'm glad you took the time to give it the respect it deserves. Makes me want to take it off the shelf and play it again.
I swear, one of my favorite games is on the DS, it's a small game called "Lost Magic" and it was an RTS where your main unit has no normal attacks but you can "draw" runes to cast magic.
I always loved playing the Mario poker game, luigi looked the part 🤣. Great video man, I haven't seen the home screen of the ds for over 15 years now, I was struck with instant nostalgia, almost made me tear lolol. And dont even start with Mario Kart, jeez all of the middle school races i have every night going home on the bus. Thanks again for the great content
3:01-Oh my God, just seeing the home display made my eyes fill with tears. It's difficult to process that this piece of technology that was such a fixture of entertainment during my childhood is damn near 20 years old. 11:47-Okay, now I'm crying. The damn poker game from Mario 64 had me smiling from ear to ear-I played the absolute shit out of it-but seeing that course from MarioKart and hearing the theme broke me. The nostalgia is too much. I can't believe I'm so fucking old now, lol, and that these memories have become suuuuuch distant ones.
I remember when the DS was revealed and thought it would bomb. The Game Boy Advance was already perfectly fine with an excellent library, no one knew if the touch screen/dual screens would even be fun to play with, and while 3D graphics on a handheld sounded nice, I would have preferred it on another Game Boy. I was very happy to have been proven wrong on this.
Out of all of the DS games, Solatorobo will always be my favorite one thanks to all of the love and passion that the developers put into every single aspect of it's world, it's characters, it's music and it's gameplay. Just an incredible masterpiece that is highly underrated
had to clutch my pearls and audibly gasp when you mentioned flipnote hatena. those are some incredibly important memories, from an era with many. thanks for such a thoughtful nostalgia trip!
Wow I’m so glad you talked about Flipnote Studio omfg. Hatena was what taught & pushed me to draw; I basically taught myself how to draw and experiment with my art thanks to that community. I don’t draw too much anymore, but it’s a fun skill I’m glad I have, and it helped me pass the time & expand my imagination at school or elsewhere when i couldn’t play around with my DSi. I cherish my old work, as well as the work of the countless people involved on Hatena (sadly shut down 10 years ago, where does the time go?) The stick figure fights, comics, goofy AMVs, the memes, the silly little quizzes and games that people would make, the incredible artistry that people would show off, the quirky personalities and OCs people would create, the SPRITE animations people made with ripped sprites no less(!!?), the full-on animated series people would make on there too!! What an unfortunately short lived community that was never revived for a second leg on the 3DS, aside from people sharing their creations on youtube. And I didn’t even get INVOLVED with the community on there!! I was more or less just part of their audience. One that I’m indebted to for all of the amazing memories and artistic skills they’ve left me with all these years later. Yet seeing it’s had such a lasting impact on not just my life, but thousands of others, makes me so happy.
For me the Nintendo DS was my first self-owned handheld, coming from a poor family my brothers and I had to share the consoles, and being the youngest brother, I would barely ever get a turn in to use the consoles, since my brothers had seniority and they would even kick me off while I was playing something if they were bored. Growing up I always envied other kids who had things like Gameboys or Gamegears or whatever else was out there, because they would basically take their games on the go, and show off how fun the games they had were or how since Pokemon had always had a crazy phase, they would discuss how to find and catch certain mons in the playground, and would even trade or battle each other, and I would always find myself excluded from everyone in class, because I could not join them in their conversations or play with them, so when I started doing real well in school, I used part of the funds from my first scholarship to get myself my first handheld, and I loved playing on the DS as well as sharing it, since not many people in my school owned one being the newest thing on the market, and I finally got other people's attention and I had started fitting in, that is until my so called "best friend" messed with my Pokemon Diamond save file, so I banned him from ever playing that game, and despite him being able to play all my other games he didn't appreciate that ban, because he was a huge Pokemon fan and his family didn't let him own any of the games, as they came from a very religious family, so what he did to get back at me was coordinate with some thugs at school, to steal my DS and all of my games, all because I didn't let him play a dumb game that didn't have multiple save files, and even though in the end justice was served and I got all my stuff back eventually, it was a traumatizing event that still affects me today, that I literally got betrayed by the person I was closest to, all because of a stupid game like Pokemon Diamond, so even though I do have fond memories of playing on the DS, I can't say I am really happy of ever owning it mostly because of that traumatizing experience.
I got a second-hand DSi XL from a friend of mine, and boy was it a blast to have! The games, the UI, the controls, everything about it was just...mind-blowing at the time. Modding it was cool as well and it gave it more life and meaning.
Ocarina of Time AND Majora’s Mask remakes, which are the quintessential way to enjoy these games now. But what I remember the most about the DS was having massive Mario Cart parties on the back of the bus in the way to sporting or band gigs in middle school. It was truly an amazing time for nerds to connect, and looking back, i’m so glad I was able to enjoy some of these features while they existed. Cheers!
Great video. The DS was such an unique and mind blowing experience to me as a kid. The variety, the interactivity, the social aspect in boosted. All was perfect
Literally was falling asleep to this and heard you mention Scribblenauts and had to wake back up to comment. 😅 I loved this series so much! It was my favorite on the DS. I wasn’t a big pokemon kid nor into very fast-paced games, yet games like nintendogs had me bored so this game was perfect for me. I loved my DS Lite and my 3DS. I accidentally bricked my 3DS cause I had a family member mod it and updated it, forgetting I couldn’t do that. My childhood memories ended up being $20 of parts. I don’t have my DS lite either. I’d love to get a new one to re-live that childhood nostalgia. And as a kid, even before I knew about console modding I wanted Nintendo to release some sort of handheld that could play gameboy advance + DS + 3DS. I basically wanted to combine my 3DS and my DS lite.

It was my first Nintendo product and made me a fan. The amount of fun I had with this device! And me actually commuting to uni was perfect!
I gain an extra two years of life anytime someone speaks positively on Mario 64 DS.
Imo, it’s the better version to play Mario 64.
I never got the whole deal about the d pad. Yeah it sure as hell wasn't optimal but it wasn't that big an issue..
I was really good at using the stylus as an analog stick with the ds, and Super Mario 64 DS had an excellent adaptation to it. It felt natural to me.

Getting a Steam Deck surprisingly reignited my love for the DS. So many of the games were, and still are, so innovative
Emudeck goes crazy
very nice seeing you here salmence 😊
Are you able to play Ds games on steam deck? How is the steam deck btw does it hold up?
@@Ek70Rit’s amazing you can basically play most things on it (like DS emulators ) and you can even use regular apps like discord and the web bowser
@@mrcoolguy32 Bro the steam deck sounds incredible. You play Ds Emulators (or any other emulator) by jailbreaking the thing? or is it possible to it as it is?
The Nintendo DS is already advanced for its time. It's cool that the DSi pre-dated the idea of touch screen devices way before smartphones were introduced.
i see
And before that, we had pda's
The DSi came out 2 years after original iPhone.
No lol
@@cheddarcheeky Yes.
That quote about the DS needing to succeed is a little dramatic, but the company's name means leave luck to heaven, so it fits.

I wonder what people like BOSS do now 😂
@@jacobrose7780 I'm going to have to look him up now, because the name is immediately familiar. I'm guessing he was the big action stick figure animator?

The moment I knew the DS was legendary was my absolute favorite memory from middle school:
I had a very stereotypical bully. It held two very important learning moments for me:
1 - Video games bring people....together?!
The DSi was easily the peak of the gaming industry. It was a piece of art.
What a time to be à child😢😢😢
That's just nostalgia.
The Nintendo DS is one of my biggest regrets. I wish I had given it a chance instead of passing on it for the PSP. It’s a timeless system that was way ahead of its time in innovation.
So was the Wii
It was a letdown for me because it didn't play gameboy games. The dsi xl was the best for playing ds games though. But the ds lite was peak for me!
I vivdly and deeply felt what you said about the DSI. Between childhood illness and trauma myself, the DS and DSI hold a special place in my heart. Awesome video man.
By the end I was getting worried you weren't going to mention flipnote. So fun to hear about it again. The stick figure fights were legendary.
I was a 3DS kid. This video might not be directed to me, but I very much can relate to the fondness of looking back at old photos stored in these devices... nostalgia is a very peculiar feeling
Nothing will replace my memories of download play and mariokart ds during sports tournaments as a youth. Love the DS with my whole heart
Same even though I grew up with a 3DS.

I used to play Mario Kart DS and Mario Party DS with my two cousins on plane trips when we went on holiday. Great times :D
TWEWY is an absolute classic among classics. Utterly unique gameplay

The DS was the system that resonated with me the most. So many incredible games and memories.

42:50 man. This whole video was a throwback to simpler times but hearing this for the first time in over a decade. Wow
@@bane2201Kid Icarus Uprising’s control scheme alone merits a remake.
Thank you for this nostalgia trip, I really needed it.
i wonder what it is about 14. i'm the same way.

Flipnote Hatena was an incredible experience to have on the DSi. Hours of fun going through all thw creations people had
Can we go back 😭
Honestly teared up at the World Ends With You section.
I bought a ds for the first time this year and the games are so much fun, i'm having a blast
I’m planning to get a 2DS soon since my other 3DS is wearing off.
You do know that a 3ds can play ds games?
FF/FFC and Spore Creatures are so goddamn underappreciated. Nice tastes.

Imo. The 3DS is better. You can play all DS games+ 3DS games+most of the NES classics.

The mario vs luigi minigame from nsmb was definitely my favourite thing out of the DS. Download play was a gift

Liam I love you bro keep doing your thing.
I love the DS, my favourite console of all time
I got a second-hand DSi XL from a friend of mine, and boy was it a blast to have! The games, the UI, the controls, everything about it was just...mind-blowing at the time.
Modding it was cool as well and it gave it more life and meaning.
sometimes you had to use your weenie as a stylus, I remember the days, I always lost or broke my stylus
Cheers!
Those were on the 3DS though.
GHOST TRICK MENTIONED
Great video. The DS was such an unique and mind blowing experience to me as a kid. The variety, the interactivity, the social aspect in boosted. All was perfect
The 2DS deserves more love.
Agreed. I’m planning to get one. I have heard that it’s the most comfortable of the DS family.
2DS or 2DS XL?
In general, smart one.
The OG 2DS.(the one that can’t fold)
Literally was falling asleep to this and heard you mention Scribblenauts and had to wake back up to comment. 😅
I loved this series so much!
