Ole Gunnar Solskjær scored 126 goals in his time at Old Trafford, including THAT unforgettable late winner against Bayern Munich in the 1999 UEFA Champions League final. I don't know if Ole was the best bench player of all time, but it was definitely the best one Manchester United ever had. Scoring a goal on average every 153 minutes were 0 of them were on penalties. These are insane stats. He also played other positions in a lot of the games.
Yep. He wasn't the strongest, but was real smart, watched the opposition all game from the bench working out their strengths & weaknesses. When he finally came on he took advantage.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer - Manchester United (1998-99): 71 minutes per goal. An unbelievable stat. Haaland was 77mins per goal in 22-23. Its always been weird to me how everyone got better at pronouncing "solskjær" over the years. But everybody still butchers the simple name "Ole"
He would sit on the bench and look for mistakes that the defenders were making and then come on and exploit them, one of my all time favourite players. I also loved him as a coach because despite the problem UTD were facing, he would also always try to win, even against much better teams. His record against Pep was unmatched in the premier league, pretty good for a manager with "no tactics" lol
Gianfranco Zola would be a good one. There are not that many videos about his career, but he started as Maradona's partner, became a legend in the premier league before being let go when Abramovich arrived - only for Abramovich to offer to buy the club he went to get him back when he realised he let an icon go.
One of those guys who 99% of people can admit is great for the game. Respect for his fellow man, passion for the sport, and that pit-bull energy on and off the field.
As an arsrnal fan, I hated united...but frankly speaking i dont ever hated van persie there because hes my fav player in Arsenal and i want him to do better (team was shite at that time).. But from the players that made united a menace at that time, the only one i like AND fear is ogr...because hes such a game changer..when hes out, everybody (players, fans, opposition) knows the game isnt over just yet..that kinda player is more dangerous than anything..
Ole's greatest weapon has always been a combination of his superb technical ability and his immense knowledge of the game. Say what you want, but he was a fantastic manager for United. His tactics suited all the players we had at the time and we succeeded for the 2 seasons where he was allowed to put HIS plan into motion. It's only the arrival of Ronaldo and the pressure from the fans and the higher ups to play a more active football that made him lose his job.
Solskjaer are only solskjaer he makes us happy when skies are grey . Shearer was fucking dearer...so please don't take our solskjaer away. A true utd legend.
This brings back fond memories. Used to watch football in the 90s when most player don't fall down so easily. Man U was an exciting team that I like to watch. I remember Solskjaer coming on many times to save the game. He is the "Super-Sub" for me. Love watching him score! 😍
imagine if his injuries weren't as severe and he'd be more available during his downtimes.. the baby faced assassin could've not only been a United legend, but an all time great (talking world type legend). He was never the "play the whole game" type of player (even tho he had plenty of them).. but just the "sub him in at the 70-ish minute mark and he'd actually kill the game time and time again, truely says something about him as a player. He was my idol growing up, and man.. I just wish he had managed to stay on the pitch for just a bit more than he did. truely a legend
You are my Solskjaer, My Ole Solskjaer, You make me happy, When skies are grey, Oh Alan Shearer, Was f****** dearer, So please don't take, My Solskjaer away...
Worst part is Chicharito had way better stats that he did, was deemed his successor by the man himself and then got fucked over by LVG. It’s a perfect microcosmic example of the putrid environment inside the Glazer’s reign of terror.
@@RaymarFootball uhhh he started 216 out of 366 appearance. So... he WAS a starter for a big club. The people deserve accurate history, not a retelling of the "he was just a sub" myth... Fergie ROTATED like mad. I think the age of video games and default lineups has trained us poorly...
Raymar please make a video on SAF time with Scottish team Aberdeen. It's SAF most underrated tenure in his managerial career and also for what he did with them. Defeating European giants Bayern Munich and real madrid at European final something no pro team has ever done. So please shed some light on this unknown time
Yeah amazing taking Aberdeen that far. First team in years before and since that broke up the dominance of the old firm (as well as said European performance). Aberdeen weren’t a semi-pro team though mate………they’ve played in the Scottish first division since they were formed pretty much, and have always been one of the biggest clubs.
The truth is he was fourth choice striker behind Yorke, Cole and Sheringham. I remember whenever he got a start he blew it. A great finisher but not a great leader of the line. Was pretty well doomed when Teddy joined United, Teddy was the MASTER.
Whenever people ask why did Manchester United backed Ole even after so many defeats and no trophies, and still sing his chants. Why does everyone favours him, names him and calls him one of the biggest legend, why Bayern Munich fans can never forget his smile. He gave us something no one could, a hope. A true prime example of Fergie Time, what Javier Hernandes and Danny Welbeck tried to become. Even at 90th minute, losing 2-0, if we saw Ole coming on, we knew, we are making a comeback. That's how special he was to us, one of our own.
if your coach benches you, it's not the end of the world. Just remember the story of THE MIGHTY Ole Gunnar. A pure beast that more often than not were unleashed in the most critical minutes of the game.
Does not matter. The problems in Ubited goes much deeper than what a manager can fix. Something have become rotten to the core in the club, and that needs to go before anything else.
Thanks raymar ❤ Before this video i didn't really knows much about him apart from thw Goal he scored against in the Champions League Final. I didn't realize he was actually that good but he's pretty underrated compared to other strikers out there ❤

Despite having to play second fiddle to the likes of Cole, Yorke, Van Nisterooy, Ronaldo and Rooney he always score the goals for Manchester United including the winning goal in our treble winning season in the Champions League final. Respect to our Baby Face Assassin Ole Gunnar Solkjaer.
@@RaymarFootball He didn't complain at all. He just does his job when they need him and has integrity on and off the field. It's a shame it didn't work out for him as our manager.

Please do Dennis Bergkamp “The Iceman” in my view he had the same or better first touches than Zizou and he used to score only the best goals. So much so he once had 3 goals nominated for goal of the month in EPL in fact he made EPL change rules
Would've been the undisputed 9 at United today without hesitation, even back then you sat wondering why he didn't start games and at the time United had legends
I’m not sure you could say that mate……..for a start he wasn’t on the bench as much as you’d think; Fergie heavily rotated during that time, especially the era of having two up front - so he started plenty of games. It was just that he was behind players like Cantona and Cole at first, then Yorke and Cole and also Sheringham. After Van Nistelroy, Saha (now that’s a criminally underrated player - shame injuries robbed him as without he was easily one of the best strikers in the league) and Rooney. Like you said he was behind legends. As well as this he did start to gain a reputation as being better coming off the bench than starting (after a few seasons, he didn’t seem to score as regularly starting as when he came on), but just not quite on the level of the very best is all. So he was great (and also moved to the wing for a couple of seasons where he was a regular starter) but just behind players who offered more. Cant remember there ever being a time I thought he should be starting ahead of that lot above……..would have been a starter at maybe everyone in the league bar Utd and Arsenal (later Chelsea)
Even though he finished 3rd then 2nd in his 2 full seasons? Who else has beaten Pep 3 times in one season? In fact, who else has even beaten him twice?
United stats. Appearances: 366. Breakdown: 216 times in the starting XI. 150 times as a sub off the bench. Goals scored: 126. Breakdown: 97 goals when in the starting XI. 29 when coming off the bench. He was NOT used as a sub more often that used as a started. He did NOT score more often from the bench than when he started.
