3:30. Just my opinion, but I think this is one of the most beautiful sedans ever. Better looking than any Bora (Jetta) that was produced before or after the Mark 4. Better looking than practically any current sedan. 9:47. I can't believe the condition of your front wings right behind the tires. There is nowhere for water and debris to drain once it goes through the cowl (where the wipers reside). Everything tends to collect in the bottom of the wings leading to severe rusting problems. Try removing the bottom 3 torx fasteners that hold the plastic wheel well liner and lift it up. You will be shocked at what you'll find. I do this every time I change my oil. 10:43. The main reason these cars sell for so little is because they're interference engines therefore if the belt jumps or breaks, the engine is toast. That's why people are so afraid of them, thus driving the prices down. You've certainly got a nice one!
Thanks for your comment! They are brilliant cars, the Boras. I am also surprised the wings on my one didn't rust. I wouldn't mind another Bora, I'd agree they are very good looking sedans.
I still have my 2000 Jetta (Bora) TDi here in South Africa, now in the hands of my student son. It's sitting on 236 000km and running an Oettinger computer box, but otherwise standard. It's been a faithful companion and I will be sad to let this one go.
I own pd130 Bora estate, i must say that its best daily car i will probably have.. Im from czech republic, in doing about 30-40k kilometres a year, i was in Austria mountains with it, in Berlin and other road trips.. Engine so far without any problems after 2 years and some months.. Did clutch, brakes, some suspension stuff and it is fun too, i also own 2.8 e36 and both are fun in certain ways.. So Bora is not ny only car and i know what in talking about, also Fuel consumption is best thing
As the car market becomes more and more homogenised with an army of SUVs, I find myself ever more drawn to watching videos like this about old cars that weren't SUVs! There's a lot to be said for this type of transport.
The 1.9 TDI is too good. Usually the car itself dies before the engine had a chance to start failing. I have a mk4 golf TDI myself and I'm not getting rid of it. The car is now 24 years old and it is still very alive.
I still have a 2005 Bora with only 119000 km on it. For its age it is in very good condition both inside and out. I still really love the look of it! Much better than all the SUVs nowadays! Sadly sedans (or saloons) are a dying breed and I'm already worrying what to buy next when eventually the time comes up for my Bora. VW does not make any sedans or any other good looking cars either anymore. 🙁
When you are tired of it,I want it. I will be forever grateful, tell me a fair price though. My daughter Shema will be Happy if I use it to take her to school

@@carchap Lift up the liner anyway. I guarantee you'll find a garden growing there and that can't be good.

Great car and engine!

They are very good, and they used these engines in all sorts of stuff for years. I've heard people tune them up very easily too.
I do like the Bora :)
They're great cars, drive so well. All of the VWs of that era do really. I miss my Bora!
I have a 1.4 tdi mk3 polo and it runs like a clock. the bora is very nice too
What does everyone think of Boras??
For balkan roads one of good ones

I love my Bora TDI 100 HP from 2004!

Those engines last forever!
Yeah they’re great! Pretty easy to work on too.
Where could I get a new headliner 😢
