Was an absolute pleasure to have owned this very car for the past 14 years. Having grown very attached, it was very difficult to let go of it. A huge thanks to Matt for being a pleasure to deal with, finding it a new home, and giving the car a fitting tribute video 🙏 I'm glad to have been able to support the channel by means of the decent profit, having been a long-time fan. Keep on giving those older cars a new lease of life!
we had a golf 4 station with 1.9tdi and it was a monster it did 330k miles or about 550k km and it would go on for more years but we wanted something newer we bought it brand new mid spec in murano red and after 13 years we sold it for 1500 euro to a young couple and if im right that couple still owns it cus i saw em a few months back since they live kinda close
Good work! The world would be a much better place if everyone looked after these types/age of cars and kept them on the road. I'm doing my bit anyway by driving my 10 year old Mondeo and servicing it at the main dealer every year. Can't afford to do anything else.
You should try to find a reliable local mechanic that can take care of it more cheaply than the main dealer. I'm running a 17 year old Mondeo, bought four years ago. I only use the main dealer for the brake fluid change because my mechanic doesn't have the software to purge the ABS pump.
My father in law, here in Minsk, Belarus, bought his in 2005! It's only done 84,000 Km and he's looked after it! Despite the ice and snow and salt, it's still 👌 Great cars!
I had a Bora 150 TDI (all letters in red) Comfortable, oodles of effortless performance. It replaced a Golf GTI with the same engine, The Bora handled better. A great car.
My older brother drove a few Mk4 Golfs and Boras and he always said the Bora handled better - dared mention that on a Mk4 Golf owners group... you can imagine how that went down. Stands to reason weight distribution would be better though, so called car enthusiasts......
Bought the estate version or station wagon as it was known in the United States. It had a 1.8L turbo and five-speed. Very reliable up to about 100k miles and then it developed a lot of electrical niggles and eventually got to the point of filling up the oil and checking the fuel because of oil leaks and burning. They are still a fairly common sight on the road.
Very interesting because you almost never see a Bora or a Jetta in Germany. They sold very poorly here. Most people were buying a Passat, Passat CC or Golf Combi.
Good old PD engines. Love them, and actually miss them. Absolute solid workhorses. I've had a few Golf's/Bora's with the PD engines, all high miles and all never missed a beat. Don't bother selling it, that's a runaround car which will go on for another 200k miles at least.
The Bora always was considered a reliable work horse with the 1.9TDI and I absolutely love it for that. It's a good run-around car which gets great mileage per gallon and will last about forever when treated right. Definitely one of the better VW old schooling looking cars still driving strong on the roads today.
Had a 99 Jetta with the 1.9 TDI.....all of 90 HP and 155 lb.ft of torque going through the 5 on the floor. Bought it used in 2006 for $5600 cdn with 269,000 km (167,000 miles) on her. She passed 7 years later with 693,000 km (435,000 miles). The most fun I had with a car with less than 100 HP under the hood. 51 MPG city....76 MPG hwy.
Another great video. 3:57. The hinges for the arm rest are known to break as well. 4:23. The front wings rust out just behind the tire because the debris that lands in the vents where the windshield wipers reside travels down to the bottom of the wings and has nowhere to escape. Lifting the rear of the liners and cleaning out the debris every 6 months is part of my maintenance schedule. 8:02. What are rear parking sensors? I get just as excited about these cars. One of the most handsome sedan one can buy and in my opinion, the Mark 4 is THE best looking Bora (Jetta) ever.
That was such a lovely example, I really liked the colour too!. It was a refreshing change to have a car on the channel which didn’t need lots of work and money spent on it❤.
I’d never thought I would be watching a tribute video of my car Matt! My father bought one new in white in 2001 with the slow 1.4 16v engine. We had it as our only family vehicle until He gave it to me some years ago as I was looking to buy something for myself, plus he got a company car, and I’ve been using it everyday ever since. As we speak it now has 398.000kms and apart from oil burning issues (needs 300ml of oil every 1.500km) it has never ever left me or my family stranded on the side of the road. I’ve been literally all over the country (mainland Greece and several islands) with it, it’s so comfy quiet and easy to drive that long trips are a bliss. Part of me wants to keep her, give her a full restoration and have her as a "forever" car but at the same time I’m thinking it’s time to move on. Idk yet 😅
I've got an A4 B6 quattro PD130 on 232,000 miles. Oil has been changed every year or 10,000 miles of it's life. It drives well, pulls hard and is super reliable. Great engine👍🏻
Great stuff. My 2004 b6 A4 is on 267,000 with 1.9 pd tdi. No signs of failing, does daily commuting, day trips, holidays....whatever I throw at it. I must be really kind, I change the oil every 5k now it's in its twilight years!
AKA “The VW Bora-ing”. Good family runaround / station car for someone though 🤷🏻♂️ The only issue is it’s a Diseasel and the new owner will have Extinction Rebellion following them around….
I'm at home recovering from hip replacement surgery. In the 18 days since I've been back home in Great Yarmouth, I've watched a huge amount of your UA-cam uploads. They're so addictive and informative. I enjoy your presentation and my poor galaxy powershift, helpless in the carpark with a knackered gearbox, is about to go on eBay spares or repair. As an automatic gearbox fan, your influence on what to buy has totally changed the way I'm searching for my replacement car. Keep up the good work. .
Thoroughly enjoyed this video. I've never had a Bora, but had a couple of Mk IV 1.9 TDi Golfs, both of which were exceptionally reliable, sound cars. So this was a least a partial trip down memory lane.
Another great video Matt. I completely agree - if you look after a car well, it will look after you. So simple as you say. And that has been proved with this decent VW, which is almost 20 years old. It now gets to live on for a bit longer. Sounds like the new owners are chuffed with it. 😊👍🏻
Matt, I had a silver 115 tdi sport and a silver 130 tdi Highline. The sport was cloth interior and the Highline was black leather. Both cars were fabulous. They started every time off the key and never broke down on me. The Highline was a particularly special car. Lovely thump when you closed the doors and were amazing on fuel as it purred along in sixth gear. Loved the shape of them; the rear quarter line looked fantastic. One of VW's better moments in my opinion. I'd have another one again, but for now, am having a lot of fun in my A2 tdi. You'll need to do a review on one of them, should you ever get your hands on one. Incredible little car, which still looks amazing today. Great video Matt and great channel. Regards.
I had a TDI Highline Bora for over 10 years and loved it (ended over 140,000 miles) . Leather seats, heated seats and just the right size. Followed up with a Jetta and now a Golf. Great video.
This gen of VW was my intro to and why I fell in love with the brand. The Bora was just a solid motor as this vid shows. I know it was a miscommunication that the car sold but actually it was really nice to know how it all worked out so no complaints here! Love the fact another oldie has survived, another top vid from HPA!
I share your enthusiasm with the VW Bora. The one you had was an outstanding example for its age and mileage. If the new owner continues with the maintenance its had in the future it will go on for many years to come. Great find and a great return on the initial outlay.
It's a good buy. The pd is a great engine - sadly it's undoing is what comes out of the exhaust. As ULEZ expands it will no doubt eventually see them off.
Good video Matt, nice to see these decent old ICE cars being restored and used, not forcibly junked. Might get myself a High Peak Autos sweatshirt to see in the autumn months. Keep up the good work 👍
I'm not a big fan of VW, but I love well kept old cars. I'm glad the new owners apprecieate that as well. Also I think it's quite cool to see a car sell this quickly. Usually with your videos we don't really know whether the car sold or whether no one was really interested in it.
Had a 2001 (Y).1.9 TDi 115. I put 200k on the clock and apart from a ceased water pump which should have been changed with the belt, screwing the engine it was faultless. A great car 👌🏻
Ah! Back when the Jetta/Bora was a true compact car. Not like nowadays when the current gen. model is simply labeled as such. It's literally one inch shorter than the current gen. Mid-sized Toyota Camry!
All the young guys from my area buy up these and put thousands and thousands into it. They could easily buy a newer more reliable golf ect but it obviously shows their love for this mk of bora.
I had the Seat Toledo version of the Bora, 51 reg, petrol. Superb vehicle, lovely interior and went like the brown stuff off a shovel. Got it 2nd hand, one owner, 4 years old with full service history. Had it 5 years, usual services and only had to replace the rubber seal around the driver's door. Behind the wheel it was part of me-no issues whatsoever.
My dad bought a cheap used 1.9 tdi bora a couple of years back. Car had like 280.000km when he bought it. He drove it until 500.000km with no problems. After 500.000km it began to knock, after investigating it came out that the car was only running on 2 out of the 4 cylinders. Most cars wouldnt start but my dad drove his Bora with 2 cylinders for another 8.000km, then he scrapped it. The 1.9 tdi i a tank engine honestly
My daughter moved to California last year and yep Bought an absolutely mint Bora 2L petrol, DSG, leather, full toys. with 171,000 on the clock. Like the one you just reviewed, it had been properly looked after, 11,000 miles later and she's still happy with it. Gotta say the used car prices in the states are nuts, though apparently the new car market is 'cooling'... Great video as ever Matt, thanks for taking the time.
I sadly had to let go my 2000 Golf mk 4 last week. I quite loved that car. Really comfortable for a 24 year old car. The interior looked timeless and the quality is fantastic. No squeaky sounds, everything working. Peak VW imo.
Love those old VW's. In fact I own a 2009 Golf Estate 2.0 TDI, 120K and it is absolutely bullet proof. As Matt says, look after them and they will look after you. I service once a year with the MOT and it has never come close to letting me down.
A 130PD High-line are still a great car, even got cruise control as it doesn’t have the 3 spoke GT steering wheel ,yes I’m a geek lol drove hundreds over the years so I know these inside out, what a timeless car 😍
Recently sold my very good example of MK4 wagon had for 5 years with 360k km on the clock, upgraded it with Bora leather sports seats, comfortable and bulletproof!
Eventually traded in my 115bhp highline with 324.000 Kms on the clock a few years ago. I had bought it new. Still miss it. It went like a train, was amazing for long journeys and never failed. On the last day I had it it still started on the first turn of the key. Best car I ever had.
My wife drives a 2002 VW ( Jetta here in Canada - 2.0 litre gas engine ). We've owned it 18 years and it's never missed a beat, never let us down. Now due for its second timing belt ... but worth it. You're right about the armrest clip breaking and the glove box handle also. But that's it. Still drives well, not exciting but keeps going. Good cars.
Hit the nail on the head with this one Matt, I drove this car with the 130 TDI engine for 10 years never had a problem with it, absolutely bullet proof, goes like train.
We had two of these in the early 2000's, my Wife's company cars. We took one to Grrmany on holiday, it was brilliant, hyper reliable, economical and the 130 bhp diesel was quite punchy, spacious boot too. Love em.
Oh amazing! I recently bought a 2002 Bora 1.6 and I'm just loving it. It's not the fastest car in the world, but with climate control, PDC, a sunroof and just 96k miles on the clock, I can't really complain! There are just really comfortable, reliable cars, I'm so happy that I finally got one! :)
I loved mine, 1.9 TDI Highline 130BHP, belting car. The wings were a know factory fault and replaced under the VW 10 year body warranty. Great car, solid and super reliable.
The wife unit and me were at Skipton today. Had a wander around the castle and market. Tomorrow, we'll be heading back to the north east after a visit to Wensleydale.
Wow. A timewarp find. Love the colour. Nothing wrong with this car. And proof that a looked after car rewards the owner. Its why bit flew out of the showroom before the video was completed
My grandad bought a brand new bora in 2002, most basic model, no alloys but did get a 6 disc changer in the boot. For him, it was a big occasion it was the first new car he'd ever bought and been a 2.0 petrol was the biggest engined car he'd had. My grandad put on a house party with a BBQ for the family just to show off his new motor 👌
“Somewhere scenic…” a gateway with a Biffa bin! 😂😂😂😂 Love these. Great that another car has been looked after and saved for another owner. Congrats on quick sale.
The Bora is a fantasic car. I had an 06 Jetta (based on the mk5 golf) in the same Shadow Blue colour. It too had a PD engine. It was an early 2.0 TDI 140bhp but with the good BKD engine code that doesn’t tend to suffer from oil pump issues. It served me really well for 8 years in fact and I sold it over 2 years ago with 184k on it. This video just prompted me to check the MOT history and its still alive and well. Done 232k on last MOT. One thing I always remember about the Jettas & Boras was they were such good value compared to the equivalent Golf and the amount of extra equipment you always got as standard that would have been a hard to find / expensive extra on a Golf. I wouldn’t like to be a private individual buying one brand new though as they depreciated like hell. They cost on average around £1500 more new than the equivilant Golf but by the time both cars were 3 years old the Golf buyer was a few grand better off. Thats the issue with small saloons like this in the UK they are a minority interest
Can't beat that VR6 sound. I've got a old Mk2 TT with the 3.2 VR6 in it. It makes those silly bangs when I change gear on the padles. That's very rare with leather interior. I quite like a grey leather. Grey is rare in itself
Matt! This is gold!!! I love the mk4 Jettas! especially a VR6. I just bought my mothers mk5 Jetta. It has the 2.5 5cyl petrol and a 5speed. Its only done 59k miles. Its a mint California car. I just love it
This was peak VW build quality, my Wife had Golf MK4 GTI as her first company car, people hate the MK4 GT1 but in two years and 50.000 miles it was exemplary, when she changed it for MK5 the interior felt like a step backwards
It was a step back. The MK4 was VW positioning the Golf as a premium hatchback. The MK5 was unfortunately where they spent more on the chassis and improving the handling over the MK4. It drove better, but was poorer quality.
Oh man, that takes me back. I had the old TDI 110 Vento that preceded this as my first car and I so nearly traded it in against a VR5 Bora, but I couldn't get away from the absolutely indestructible nature of that 1.9.
I had a PD130 highline only a few years ago for 7 years, never failed an MOT on anything but brakes and bulbs, even though I had hybrid turbo and SMIC to make 210bhp. Absolutely brilliant cars and massively underrated. Better than a Mk4 Golf in my opinion, weight distribution is better, more room, cheaper insurance etc
Known everywhere else in the world as a VW Jetta...a massive seller in South Africa from the MKI all the way up to the MK7, the MKI was also released there in a pick up or "UTE" configuration known as the "Caddy"...still 1000`s of them running around, some with crazy engine swaps... I`m in the UK now and it always strikes me as odd that there aren`t more "Bora`s" on the road here...
I was gonna say it's worth £2495 all day long! The old PD130 engine is such a good workhorse, very reliable and cheap to run. I have a PD130 engine in my mk4 polo, its got few bolt on mods. It is around 210 bhp and it surprises alot of people. Just puts a smile on my face everytime i drive it!! #dieselhead
Owned a Bora from 2004 to 2014, TDI same colour Mrs B from Bristol ACCIDENTALY bashed the back end in, she said her air bag went off even before the impact, some believe this others deniey this can happen. No one hurt!
We had a 2003 2 litre petrol. Bought with 93k on the clock for 640 pounds. Drove it for 7 years and put on another 37k. In that time all that went wrong was the coil pack and a sensor or two. One window regulator. (Bought it with a weird central locking issue). Obviously things like suspension components, brakes, clutch, etc needed replacing. It was serviced may be three times. Only one spark change. Lovely drive, comfortable, practical, good on fuel and a real work horse. Sold it last month for 450 quid!
Always loved the Jetta. They’re badged as Jetta 4 in most other countries. My mom had the Jetta 2 and 3 and the 3 she had for over 10 years and did huge mileage in it and it never stepped a foot wrong. Always said she had the Midas touch with cars they always last her 10 years and they just never go wrong. Don’t think she’s ever replaced a clutch in any of them.
Had a 54 plate in silver back in 2008. Same spec minus the heated seats. It was an absolutely fantastic car, if a little soulless. Loved the engine, mid range whoosh! Not one issue during the whole of my ownership. Lovely to see one again.
My cousin has a 2003 Bora, in that same color, although it's the 1.6 petrol. Rusty front wings aside, it's flawless and has over 180K miles on it. Thing just doesn't want to die, it just keeps on going!
Hey Matt, great video as always. Back in the day, I used to deliver demo cars for VW, and I remember having a Bora TDI (red T, red D, Red I), which as I remember was a 150bhp model, and it was the Sport version with a manual 6 speed box. What a car that was. I fell in love with it within the first 10 minutes of driving the thing. If only there was a decent one still around, I'd jump at buying one to replace my ageing Insignia. Keep up the great work Sir.
I remember in 2005 or so all the local VW dealers were selling the last of the line Bora tdi 130s or 150s in high line spec for £13995, great value at the time. I was tempted but decided to hang onto my Passat.
A good friend of mine had one of these when I was 18 and had it remapped, the thing pulled like a train (It also blew seals - and smoke - in all kinds of places, often) - absolute nostalgia for me
The car's great, and if I were living back in the UK, and wanting a car, I'd buy it. I love getting to the end when it is sold. More of this 'total story', please, Matt, when we get to find out the sale details.
Hi Matt I completely understand how you feel about the Bora. I owned one for two years and absolutely loved it. It was fast economical with a huge boot. Love the videos, am an avid follower,
I had a 2.0 petrol one of these in the same colour and a silver V5 auto (which was a cracking engine). Everyone laughed at me, and I always thought I was right and they were wrong! Much more purposeful looking than a Passat, less mundane than a golf + a big boot. Great video, Matt!
I had a 2003 1.6 SE Bora for 7 years, it replaced a Mk4 1.9 Tdi Golf and its one of the few cars I regret selling on. It was a lovely car to drive and handled better than the Golf believe it or not. I acquired it with 49,000 on the clock when it was 6 years old and by the time I changed it for a Mk6 Golf it had done 172,000 miles…apart from usual servicing and things like a clutch, brake replacement the only thing it required was a replacement coil pack, it had done over 100,000 miles at that stage. They are rare these days, so nice to see this one.
My dad used to have one of these, this was the first car I ever sat in when I was a baby, we had it for years but it was still the best car 🚙 I loved it.
I once breifly had a very low mileage V5 engine auto version - Smooth, Comfy and felt really well made but a complete pain in the arse to sell. The best quote I read about these particular ones was 'The performance of a 4 cylinder coupled with the MPG of a 6 cylinder' which was very true, However I still managed 30-35 mile per gallon between 70 to 80 mph.
Oh brings back memories of my Golf MK4 GTtdi with the 115bhp version of the engine. Felt so solid and would go on forever with maintenance. Sold it at 188k, and missed it. Bought a Focus C-Max 1.8, very nice to drive, but felt like an Airfix model compared to the Golf...
Always worth keeping the car maintained. Q: although the reg plates are “tatty” they still had the original dealer logo on them, that is part of the authenticity. Seems little benefit in changing unless they are broken
You're right, that has to be one of the best Bora's left. Heated leather seats must be quite rare. If looked after that'll easily do another 150k miles.
It's a highline, the decent ones left seem to be highlines which all have heated leather as standard. They've got 5 heat settings too which is more than most modern cars, cruise, (semi) automatic wipers, cruise control etc.
Hi Matt, not Bora related but my wife’s sister is after an MX 5. She sent me a few to look at and whilst they were all nice enough I advised her to use Car Vertical and I found myself subconsciously typing out almost verbatim your Car Vertical spiel from your videos ! Keep up the great work mate, love the videos, all the best from a fellow North Westerner now living down under ! PS I don’t suppose you’ve got any MX5’s in stock have you 😉 Cheers, Ian.
I owned a Mark 4 golf 1.9 gt tdi (t reg) which I think was 150 bhp when brand new, which was dark green, The wing had a rust patch that never grew. It had been remapped so was responsive when I touched the throttle pedal. Had the red and blue lights on the dash and buttons. The only downside was the CD changer in the boot. Loved that car, gutted I had to scrap it due to an electrical fault, and I didn't have the time or money to fix it. Nothing wrong with loving older cars, and I am impressed with the bora.
That 1.9 PD engine is the absolute best of Diesel reliability. And the best we used in the Private Hire Taxis ever! Seen them regularly hit over a million miles on the original engine. Keep a hold of that car, 150k is hee haw for that engine. Great find Matt. Keep up the great work and hello from Scotland🏴 ps....its snowing here!
Bought a new Bora in 2001, 2.3 V5, colour blue 💙 one of the best cars I've ever owned (was also the first car I bought new, as a 21 year old bloke) Had it for 10 years, drove it only in the summer and only drove 45 thousand km total, Before I sold it for more than what I paid for it new 👌
I had that engine in a Passat Highline from the same year. Easily the best engine I have ever owned. Really pulled and had loads of character. Nice one Matt.
Your last two car buying videos really have proved the point you made a couple of videos ago that you're better to pay a bit more for a car that has been loved, than you are getting one dirt cheap that leaves you having 'massively overspent again'. Long may the profit continue! 👍
Was an absolute pleasure to have owned this very car for the past 14 years. Having grown very attached, it was very difficult to let go of it. A huge thanks to Matt for being a pleasure to deal with, finding it a new home, and giving the car a fitting tribute video 🙏
I'm glad to have been able to support the channel by means of the decent profit, having been a long-time fan. Keep on giving those older cars a new lease of life!
So how do you feel about selling the car for £800 and Matt getting £1300 or so profit on it?
Absolutely great, as alluded to in my comment 👍
I’m always curious why it’s sold. Why not just keep it longer.
@@djgerard82props to yourself for looking after the car for so long and keeping what is now a modern classic on the road.
@@coops1964I’m sure he realised it would be sold for a profit…kind of the point of the channel
Don’t ever stop being enthusiastic about lovely old cars that deserve a second chance Matt👏🏻👍🏻 A nice profit too! Well done 👍🏻
That 1.9 tdi vag engine is such a good engine. 2nd most reliable engine ever put in a car.
What’s the first?

I love this kind of video, saving the old well kept motors that don't cost an arm and a leg
Always liked the Bora and MK 4 Golf, the quality of the interiors was phenomenal when they were released.
lets just keep in mind *when they were released* 😂😂
That era seemed to be peak VW for quality and style.
Same with BMWs, like 3 series E46 and 5 series E39. More solid late 90ies early 2000s xD
@steifan
Absolutely, both were amazing quality and were well built, unlike the crap that followed E60 and E90, shockingly bad and tinny.
we had a golf 4 station with 1.9tdi
and it was a monster it did 330k miles or about 550k km and it would go on for more years but we wanted something newer
we bought it brand new mid spec in murano red
and after 13 years we sold it for 1500 euro to a young couple and if im right that couple still owns it cus i saw em a few months back since they live kinda close
Yes, having the boot on the back VW said it improved handling a bit compared to the Golf. Better weight distribution.
@@itchyscratch3829 And a stiffer bodyshell.
Especially the TDI. Here in the northeastern US they seem to have disappeared due to rust, but people love them.
I've had a couple of Octavia 1.9TDi PD130s and they were rapid and gave good mpg. I love the PD engines.
The Bora always was considered a reliable work horse with the 1.9TDI and I absolutely love it for that. It's a good run-around car which gets great mileage per gallon and will last about forever when treated right. Definitely one of the better VW old schooling looking cars still driving strong on the roads today.
Guy at Harrods when Matt rang them sounded as he was bored of life or just wanted to end it all 😂
😂😂 they probably recognised my number
He is very helpful when you in the shop ,good guy.😎
Hate to think what the valet guys at the car wash think/feel when Matt's number rings?!
It's true matt, my fabia gets serviced every year when it is due, it wants for nothing, and has never let me down! not even an engine light!
That 1.9 TDI is is bomb proof if serviced. Done 160k in my old Passat and it never missed a beat.
Good family runaround / station car for someone though 🤷🏻♂️
The only issue is it’s a Diseasel and the new owner will have Extinction Rebellion following them around….
Keep up the good work. .
Hope you recover fully soon. Thanks for watching
Love a cleanly kept PD.
My mate Graham has a 52 plate 1.9 tdi 200,000K still going strong. He drives it daily.
Yeh mines in a 2004 A4 and fine at 267,000 miles. Commute, day trips, holidays, whatever I throw at it!
Had a couple of Octavias with the PD 130 engine. One did 320k, the other 410k. The diesel Octavia, Bora, Leon and A4 of this period is peak car IMO.
Vw bora is brilliant. You are a hero rescuing older cars. Fantastic.
No you are not wierd its just nice to see an older car that has properly been looked after nothing wrong with having pride in your car
Great episode Matt. Decent alloys on that too. The two tone interior is lovely. Great find, a real honest little gem.
PD vw engine best ever.👌👌
I love Boras as well
I sadly had to let go my 2000 Golf mk 4 last week. I quite loved that car. Really comfortable for a 24 year old car. The interior looked timeless and the quality is fantastic. No squeaky sounds, everything working. Peak VW imo.
Owned a 1.9 diesel 55 plate for 7 years ib the same colour. Never missed a beat with proper servicing and quicker than anyone thought...,a real q car
Did the cars leave the factory with ' sponge" like material in the wings (if memory serves) for sound deadening?
My Wife had* a 2004 Bora SE TDI 130. Absolutely the best car we ever owned. *I've got it in the back of the shed, pending a birthday resto.
The wife unit and me were at Skipton today. Had a wander around the castle and market. Tomorrow, we'll be heading back to the north east after a visit to Wensleydale.
Hello Matt, that car was a credit to the last owner. Glad it sold so fast. Thank you for taking the time to upload another video. Ged.
Thanks!
Wow. A timewarp find. Love the colour. Nothing wrong with this car. And proof that a looked after car rewards the owner. Its why bit flew out of the showroom before the video was completed
Cracking video - and I love how you can enthuse over a Bora as much as you will over a new Bentley!
And thank you to David for keeping his car in such good nick!
“Somewhere scenic…” a gateway with a Biffa bin! 😂😂😂😂
Love these.
Not a vr6 in this
@@jjb4531 who said it was?
Absolute credit to its previous owner. 👌 no wonder it was snapped up so quick very dependable and decent on fuel.
Sadly, Sadiq Khan said these cars pollute and causes damage to lungs and fertility among women and poor sperm quality from men. His ULEZ law applies.
I’m with you on the Bora, there’s just something about them and what a cheeky turnaround.
The Bora is a great looking car and the 130 is more than enough. The one on our drive is getting a bit sad, the mirror switch does work though.
I was tempted but decided to hang onto my Passat.
about the best and most realistic car you have shown in ages.
Love the videos, am an avid follower,
Thanks for watching
I had a 2.0 petrol one of these in the same colour and a silver V5 auto (which was a cracking engine). Everyone laughed at me, and I always thought I was right and they were wrong! Much more purposeful looking than a Passat, less mundane than a golf + a big boot. Great video, Matt!
I love the Bora too. I had a TDI PD 150 with xenons and cream leather recaros. My wife still remembers it.
Totally impressed with how beautiful the car looks after 20yrs.
PS I don’t suppose you’ve got any MX5’s in stock have you 😉
Cheers, Ian.
Bought a new Bora in 2001, 2.3 V5, colour blue 💙
one of the best cars I've ever owned (was also the first car I bought new, as a 21 year old bloke)
Had it for 10 years, drove it only in the summer and only drove 45 thousand km total,
Before I sold it for more than what I paid for it new 👌
I had that engine in a Passat Highline from the same year.
