I LOVE the brown cowhide and will be visiting their flagship store within a month. Thank you for posting this and it really sold me on going to Schotts.
A nice jacket. I would advice it for functional wear, if you're riding in the rain get a horsehide, if you fall off from the bike a lot get a thick steerhide like a P613S, if you want it for casual wear and just want the bad boy look, any thin leather like lambskin and stuff will be great, like the Raven for example. I think the Schott Perfecto is a must have piece if you do have a collection of leather pieces, i would advice going to the punk / heavy metal look instead of the Marlon Brando one since that looks extremely old to me, but it is a nice piece. I would take the risk of saying it is the most edgy and aggressive looking piece of clothing there is in the market along some heavy combat boots, and in my experience, women like to hug guys wearing one of these in a heavy black pebbled leather. Greetings
I just bought one and I would have been glad to see this video before buying. Anyway my used 618 is in amazing shape and it fits me perfectly ! I think you should do a video on how to clean and make it look clean (the ways to do it etc). Amazing video and yes, Schott should upload it to their website.
I bought the 618 in brown and omg. Talk about class. It’s an amazing jacket. Hands down, best piece of clothing I’ve ever owned. The dark brown with bronze buttons and zippers is just so good. The black is version is classic, youthful looking, and rugged.. but the brown just looks sophisticated and classy. Such an amazing jacket.
Thank you Carl. This was informative and concise. A Schott Perfecto is timeless; it never goes out of style. I don't own one but hope to soon. I recently bought a Schott 689H, modified cafe racer, in horsehide, and I love it.
Why are some of their jackets called a perfecto when they don't look anything like the ones shown? For instance, what makes the perfecto 41 a perfecto?
In my opinion, a motorcycle jacket without armor is like a work boot without electrical insulation. Top of the line in its time, but not very functional in today's world. If Schott made a Perfecto with a kevlar lining and armor sewn into it, I'd be all over it.

Schott is the best thing going. People need to understand quality over hype. I’ll give you a great example. Saint Laurent leather moto is $3,000.00 and the 519 is $880.00. Schott 519 is made from full aniline while the Saint Laurent is made of Lambskin. Lambskin is more supple but it tears easy and will not last as long. It’s inferior, yet they charging 3.5x what Schott is charging!!! Please people, save your money, look just as good and use the rest of the money to take a trip with your love one.
When I was in college back in the 80s, it seemed as if everyone on the local music scene had a black leather biker jacket. I think it was because of the Ramones. They are pretty cool, but I could never pull the look off.
Really awesome video Carl! I would love to get the perfecto without the belt and the softer hand. I have to rewatch and see which model that would lead me towards. I don’t ride but really want to! Maybe you’ll hook me up with some lessons and a free jacket? 😉
I bought a Perfecto few years ago, it's a 618 size 40 and honestly, compared to my biker's jacket, (Ixon Vortex with shoulder pads and aero bubble and dorsal protection, forearms shells, etc) it's the same weight! The leather is super heavy and high quality, the zippers, virtually unbreakable and as long as the leather is taken care of, it stays like brand new for years. paid 600€ for it, but I don't regret my choice! Long Live Perfecto!
Yes, its a pretty simple concept but nobody really considers it. Thats why horsehide is so rare in comparison, and the "steak dinner" culture caused the brands to shift to the material that was more readily available.
This guy (me) had email problems, old account and had delete my account now I'm desperately trying to remember who I was subscribed to. I remembered you though lol
Bates made both the T1 and T2 jackets. You can find both on their website but they are very expensive. They're located in Lakewood, CA - about 30 min from me. All jackets are custom order tailored for you and are of the highest quality.
Carl Marx I understand you like stuff like this would you be able to review things like outback trading co,Schaefer,STS ranch wear, and Wyoming Traders see what you think 🤔
I love the perfecto. probably my favorite style of leather jacket because of the subculture history and connection to rock n roll and punk, but I dont think I would ever buy one new at full price. I personally feel like it kind of defeats the purpose of the jacket to pay $800 for it because then you're going to treat it really carefully and never scuff it or get it dirty. I feel like its the type of jacket that should be left crumpled up on the floor and get all dirty and scrapped up. To me it looks better when its distressed and rough.
Dude, it's a leather jacket. Nothing screams more "I am boring" as a leatherjacket that is 30 years old but still in a pristine condition (not saying it shouldn't been taken care off, but more like when it's literally untouched)
@Yama Satru I've got super lucky with my recent purchases. I have a D&G Leather Jacket limited to only a few houndred pieces for 400 bucks (from another colleague) but worn, still perfect condition. & my current Schott 618 for somewhere around 200 or so, brand new.
Nothing last forever, when I was much younger my biker jacket split in the back from top to bottom..ok, I used it for skiing , to look cool in the days of puffy ski jackets

They look so lame like you're trying to be Brando and think you're some big shot. Really uncool.
@@philmcclenaghan7056 I'm sure they look lame on you because you're some geeky fucktard. You have to have the right look to rock the leather biker jacket, you're just mad because you cant pull it off
Don't own a Schott if you don't also own either a gun, a bike, or a smoking hot 20 y/o girlfriend.
The black dyed ones fade to gray after decades right? Do they still look good then?
Schott is the best thing going. People need to understand quality over hype. I’ll give you a great example. Saint Laurent leather moto is $3,000.00 and the 519 is $880.00. Schott 519 is made from full aniline while the Saint Laurent is made of Lambskin. Lambskin is more supple but it tears easy and will not last as long. It’s inferior, yet they charging 3.5x what Schott is charging!!! Please people, save your money, look just as good and use the rest of the money to take a trip with your love one.
i’ve had a Legendary Black Stallion HH, (by Schott) for years. i love it. just looked and they're selling them for $1700 CND. blew my mind
When I was in college back in the 80s, it seemed as if everyone on the local music scene had a black leather biker jacket. I think it was because of the Ramones. They are pretty cool, but I could never pull the look off.
Picked up a vintage 118 Schott from the 1980's. A fresh touch of black leather dye and a monthly clean and condition and she holds up.
Really awesome video Carl! I would love to get the perfecto without the belt and the softer hand. I have to rewatch and see which model that would lead me towards. I don’t ride but really want to! Maybe you’ll hook me up with some lessons and a free jacket? 😉
Any time man! I have two bikes and you’re welcome to be the Dennis Hopper to my Peter Fonda. 😆
Interesting that you said leather is related to the food industry... It's so obvious and simple but I've never thought of it this way
Yes, its a pretty simple concept but nobody really considers it. Thats why horsehide is so rare in comparison, and the "steak dinner" culture caused the brands to shift to the material that was more readily available.
This guy (me) had email problems, old account and had delete my account now I'm desperately trying to remember who I was subscribed to. I remembered you though lol
Hahaha, well welcome back! I'm glad you remembered me!
I think the ramones were those not shure
They sure did.
I would like to see more detail and comparisons of the jackets, I still get confused, the names are just too similar
Terminator 2 Leather jacket was canny cool, Who designed it...🤔
Bates made both the T1 and T2 jackets. You can find both on their website but they are very expensive. They're located in Lakewood, CA - about 30 min from me. All jackets are custom order tailored for you and are of the highest quality.
You literally saved me a drive! Thanks for reviewing them🗣🗣🗣
Hi, your videos are great! The letter "J" means that it is a model issued for France, the name of the French distributor is "J.A.J."
Carl Marx I understand you like stuff like this would you be able to review things like outback trading co,Schaefer,STS ranch wear, and Wyoming Traders see what you think 🤔
Absolutely, but I’m no Carl Marx!
Carl Murawski thanks sorry your last name is so hard to remember I’m sorry I butcher your name
Nothing, absolutely nothing can beat the schott perfecto. But i have one wish...please, please bring in longer sleeves.
Totally 80’s? I think you meant 50’s.
Depends on when you grew up
Nothing last forever, when I was much younger my biker jacket split in the back from top to bottom..ok, I used it for skiing , to look cool in the days of puffy ski jackets
Do a Langlitz video! Thanks!
Alan are you ? very nice video
I wear mine everyday
I had a size 36 Perfecto when I was 23. Gave it to a girlfriend.I am a size 58 now at age 59.My leather is made by another company because I cant afford a Schott.
In 1974 Peter Gabriel wore this jacket when he performed “The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway “ with Genesis . I think that’s earlier than most of the music icons you mentioned.
This is what I needed. So precise and comprehensive

Hi Carl if I get the Schott Jacket + A 1950 Thunderbird .Chippewa boots even the England cap is that going to far, & even talk like Marlon Brando, just want to have fun .Very nice video thank you
Love my Raven Jacket from Schott
Great American made
We talk about Marlon Brando, but what did Arnold Schwarzenegger wear in the Terminator movies? Including T2 and T3?
In love with 519, price is a bit too high, even if it is investment in yourself
Theres no doubt, and for the money there are better options out there.
I bought a very nice condition 118 for $350 CND, l love it. This is as classic as the A2, and G1 of which I own several originals. The heritage alone is worth it in my estimation, and I also got these second hand.
Hello everyone, I’ve trying to find a biker jacket like the one Sid Vicious wears in this video. Or like the one that the singer from The 1975 wears in their video “Girls”. It’s been really hard to find one exactly like those; kind of slim fit, front sleeve zippers, with small collar, all the pockets, etc. Anybody know where I can get one for a reasonable price?
I am 6.5 ft tall , 117kg around 220ld if not wrong , 48 shoulder , 44 chest . 36 waist and bit long monkey arms and I do go to gym so big arms too . Don’t know which schott jacket to go for . As I can’t fit and try them as I am from Australia. Can anyone suggest Which cafe racer jacket to go for a for a regular winter use . Not much of riding but lot of Driving .
Would like something in thick leather , cow or horse hide leather. As I feel they are more durable. @schott .... help me out ...... please.
Thank you for this upload. I’ve always been such a hardcore fan of the perfectos. This has been just my cup of tea
7:40 Always wondered why companies just don't put a small tag with model# and month/year (or even just 2-digit year) on their items. Seriously...
Luv my 618 in classic black. Great vid! I enjoyed watching it. 👍🏼
I am thinking about getting 618, but I am not exactly sure about it since I dont ride a bike and I would prefer it for casual wear.
Not to mention that I have it bit difficult in choosing size since I am from Europe and rather short ( 165cm ) so I think best size would be 38.
Very informative video...information I didn't know. The 113 is the way to go for me...softer and easier to break-in. Thanks.
