As mentioned by others, AllSaints on sale has absolute steals. Copped a vegetable tanned lambskin jacket and it has become my second skin. It's supple and developing a beatiful patina. If I had unlimited budget my dream pick would be the Undercover x Lewis Leathers Lightening Jacket Jeff Goldblum rocking a Saint Laurent Biker jacket with a white button up shirt, a grey snake print silk tie, suit pants, black boots, silver rings and a watch is God Tier style icon imho

In major leather-producing countries like India or Pakistan, you can get a jacket that is the same quality and style as a $500 range jacket shown here for $30-50. Goes to show how much customers abroad have to (unknowingly) pay for freight charges, brand labels & store rent.
NEVER buy fake leather if you actually want to wear it. Only get faux leather if you’re trying out a new style. Real leather will last longer, feel better, and fit better every single time
If you're buying a Saint Laurent leather jacket for your first leather get an L01 or shop pre-loved for an L17. In fact leathers are made to last and show more personality with age, there is no real reason to buy a top quality leather brand-new, there's loads available on the secondary market. Save money, save the environment.

If the criteria is quality vs price I wouldn’t go for Celine or saint Laurent -500$ go vintage or a lesser know biker brand on sale 500$ - 1500$ you’re good with schott and maybe a lewis leathers if you can get your hands on one 1500$ + go with Japanese repro brands, you’ll find some good cheaper alternatives to real McCoy and a jacket that will last forever But if you buy Celine for 3k + you’re basically buying 300-600$ quality with a nice tag

It is said that the jacket worn in The Wild One was in fact a Durable brand that emulated the original and more popular Schott. You are correct that Dur A Jac was a model label that Schott used but Durable was its own separate company.

Not in every COUNTRY a $200 jacket is trash. In Argentina for example we got real deal high quality jackets made of real good leather for that money (and even less). Second, don't go for BRANDS, or boutique crap, avoid shopping malls, retail stores and that sort of places and go for all leather shops. Usually you'll find them one next to the other in some streets. Third, go to the store, not to the website, touch the leather, try the stuff on, feel and fit are more important than looks. Fourth, go simple, biker, moto, maybe a hunter or a plain design with a zipper. Don't fall for crazy designs, a leather jacket has to last for the rest of your life, so don't look like an idiot in 10 years. Fifth, color does matter, avoid weird trendy colors like red, silver, blue. Go black or dark brown (especially if you don't have experience) Sixth, know that different types of leather require different care, if possible avoid suede, it stains very easy, avoid super soft stuff because it's usually very thin and will not last. Regular painted leather or crush leather will typically do the job (watch out for mate finished jackets that usually have some sort of wax or grease put onto them, they get glossy in the collar and elbow areas). Seventh, DON'T WASH IT....EVER....period. Take it to a dry cleaner that specializes in leather. And last but not least, think of it as a tattoo, it will go with you until you die, you wanna look good in it in every moment of your life, choose wisely.

The genuine leather thing is a bit off. Bonded leather is not referred to as "genuine leather". Genuine leather is the same level as most suede, meaning it is still an actual piece of hide, but it is below top and full grain leather.
