My tip to get back to feeling like life is a gift Chase is to find something that grounds me. I first assess how big the issue(s) feels. Then I assess how much(if any) control I have over what is happening or if I have to just accept it for what it is. Once that’s determined then I can figure out what I want to do about it(through all of this I am likely going through periods of anxiety, anger, defeat, gratitude, reason, rationale) and then once I have a baseline of what I want to do I take a break from thinking about it because if I’m spending this much energy on it, I don’t want to act too quickly. So I try to ground myself by watching something comforting, taking a long slow walk outside, going for a run, taking a nap, or going out and doing something relaxing to put my mind elsewhere(not numb myself) but just be at as much ease as I can be given what’s occurring. By the next day things might feel lighter, but depending on how big of an issue it is I may cycle through my process for days before I finally get to an action plan that allows me to convey what I need to with reason, calm, and in the best interest of all parties involved. Hope this helps some.
I like the idea of the external bag. I always carry a lightweight tote bag to throw things in, such as a heavy jacket or jumper if my backpack is already full. The fact that this clips into the bag is cool!
I've been going through a lot in life lately and its been getting the most of me, I barely get any sleep and my mind doesn't stop thinking. I still don't know how to manage with it but what helps me a little sometimes is hanging out with friends even if you don't feel like it, just being around loved ones when possible... and at night I like to sit alone and pray. Patience is key
I got this bag a few months ago and by far the most versatile bag I have ever owned. Have used for one bag travel, camera bag, day pack. It does it all. Id also recommend getting the venture ready sling they released alongside. It's a pricey setup but well worth the cost. My only gripe is the white internal fabric, is hard to keep stains away but nothing stays perfect forever and the design overall looks fresh.
I go for a long hike and just enjoy being out amongst nature, especially if it ends with breath taking views of the city. I don't bring my phone or any music. I just enjoy and focus on the sounds of nature. The wind, the insects, the birds. I'll wear a smart watch just in case something does happen I have a way of being located or a way to notify emergency services.
I just got this bag! So funny- I missed some of your details. I like this extra bag. I use it all the times from JFK to Logan, LAX or Miami. I checked it coming back from LA!Still looks brand new after a quick wet cloth cleaning… I love this!
18:00 Burdened with life… 1) get outside. The scale of the real world calms my mind and its organic shapes seem less cutting than the straight edges of the house’s walls. 2) Write: I love prompted journalling that asks questions kind of like Byron Katie’s “the Work”. Opens up new mental frames to shift into new mental boxes 3) Actual real life people. Not zoom. Not a text. At minimum a call or ideally an in person. Those three plus some good coffee and a steak and generally, it all seems to make sense again. Steak = purpose. ❤ btw: I’d buy the bag even without the 15l. Seems like it could be a collectors gig
My tip is boring and well known but just gratitude. Gratitude for my life, gratitude for the things and experiences I love in life and I appreciate all of it
My tip: Vipassana meditation. Practicing this over the past few years has helped me to deal with anxiety. It allows me to shed the persistent background noise of "what if" and uncover deep gratitude for the simple things. BTW sick bag, I have the older model without the tote in orange and love it, this looks like a very tempting upgrade for longer trips. The tote is indeed interesting; I think i'd carry it as a tote most of the time while in transit, only locking it onto the bag in some situations where I really want to be hands-free. Then dump it in the hotel/AirBnB and go EDC backpack mode. Compelling.
I like the pack itself, seems to have a good combination of features. But I don't like the implementation of the add-on tote. First, I would like a more sturdy attachment method - perhaps some zippers. Second, if the tote is meant to be on the outside, I would want the same level of toughness for the exterior fabric. As is, I would always worry that the add-on tote could either rip open or be semi-detached just through moving the bag around. In general, I guess I would prefer an expandable bag - solves the issues that I bring up.
To "get back to wonder" when anxiety or stress is genuinely overwhelming - I keep up with therapy and super simple meditations, communicate my struggles with loved ones, and I push myself to get back to simple, local joys. The first two are more obvious. The "local joys" one, maybe not so much. I have places near me I love. A few parks, a bookstore, a library, a cafe. When I'm overwhelmed I go to those places. I set aside a day to wander, by myself, in familiar spaces that comfort me. They cost nothing or less than $5 on a coffee to spend time comfortably. And I love them. Finding accessible places you love, that are reliable and always there - this has created a really joyful stability for me. And it quietly connects me to other people. Seeing life happening. Just being present. It really helps.
I like the packable bag. I usually bring the Peak Design tote for similar use cases, wouldn’t need to attach but good to if need be in this case. I’d prefer to carry. I use the packable tote to leave packing cubes and stuff in my hotel or locked hostel locker. On way home I use it for souvenirs or overflow.
8:38 I would give it shot, I think I would try it the other way around and maybe keep the bag packed like normal, cause there would be more room, especially if you used the luggage compression straps and had everything strapped down nice and tight. Then put it under the seat or in the overhead. Then have some pouches for your tech stuff. You could bring an empty water bottle and then get a drink after you go through security and pour it in. Throw an iPad in there in a case. Some headphones, munchies, and whatever else you needed to have right there with you. Then I’d switch it out when I got to where I was staying.
My trick is to first compare what you have to those who have nothing and find appreciation for it, and then go and do something nice for someone else without looking for anything in return. You will feel wealthy and fulfilled ❤
The anxiety is going around amigo from Portland. You've got to knock the barnacles off that pre-frontal cortex. Its been rough on a lot of people and families these past few years. It too shall pass. Reconnecting with your faith seems like a pretty good idea to me... it always keeps me moving forward. BTW, Bellroy is killing it with their UX. Nice bag!
I came very close to buying this bag, but ultimately went with Tortuga's laptop bag for $150. It's awesome to hear the straps are comfortable, but it was hard to trust that before reviews came out, because a lot of Bellroy's straps are not comfy. I went with the safe option for comfort (Tortuga) and the much cheaper price, and I'm happy with it, but I will say this bag looks fantastic and I have a tiny bit of buyer's remorse (but also an extra $170). :)
Recommended trick... new guitar tuning... and a crazy new sound. new tunings force creativity... much like a new trip forces new perspectives. I'll Dm you. happy to set you up with our Omega Granophyre plugin we did with Neural DSP. crazy new sounds await... :)
the external bag looks like a bit of a mix between a dirty/extra clothes and a grocery bag, that said I probably wouldn't attatch it to the bagpack but carry it as a tote
I would keep the extra attachable bag under the seat and put the main bag in the over head compartment. People might frown upon it but I know that I would end up forgetting the extra bag in the overhead compartment. ( A lot of people might just grab the bag under the seat and forget all about the extra bag )
This bag looks so sick as a goldilocks bag, something that's big enough for a dialed in travel kit, but small enough to use as a bag on destination. Which makes me confused about the bonus clip on bag. What I would've loved to see though, clip on mesh bag for wet clothes.
Instead of a link you should negotiate with them a discount code to get your affiliate token from them but also give incentive to your peeps to use it. Even just 5% would be enough but if you can get 10% it would show your the man. You are big enough to be able to get that from these vendors with a little bit of work and a little less travel hahaha. if Jon freaking Gadget can get a 10% discount code from Bellroy you can! I am buying this bag because of you. I hate and love you for it because I dont freaking need another bag but I want this bag now because of your video. But Im going to use Jon freaking Gadgets code because after you sold me the bag I had to go find someone with a discount code because you dont have one. Love love love your videos. You are obsessed more than me with bags and you make me feel normal that I have so many.
I was so ready to dismiss this as just an insanely overpriced Venture ready 26, but you know what? This is very interesting. I just hope those small loops can hold the weight of the stuff in that tote. They don’t feel that strong on my venture 26, but if it works, it works, gives you 41-ish liters. It does look weird though. Maybe at some point they sell that tote separately? For those of us who have the regular venture 26? 😅

@@monolith_games I bought a bag, they sent me shipping notification - had charged me already. Week later they said they didn't have the bag. Offered me a bad discount on a different bag I didn't want. Took another 3 weeks to get money returned. Communication over the month of getting my money back was poor. I'll never buy a product from them again - glad you had a good experience.
I just came across your channel and I have to say. You are turning into me favorite edc/bag/ etc UA-cam guy lol. Just wanted to let you know if you even see this ahah 👍👍
Why don’t these fancy backpack makers put magnets into the straps to keep them attached to the backpack like peak design does. Because that is the greatest thing ever.
Man the 3 year warranty on these things just screams that they don’t back their own products enough, they design great stuff but damn is 3 years not the realistic lifetime for someone using these bags
I was thinking the same thing. I think the 2 noticeable differences that come to mind are the hidden tote bag and zipper water bottle holder on this one. With the zippered water bottle it means you can use it for other things - basically another quick access. So why does it cost much more? Idk. I still considering it. I like it. I’m have a 10% discount code so that would help.

The clip on bag is an excellent concept. It’s basically an external packing cube for clothes and shoes.
Would be great for dirty clothes.

That would be my new top small travel bag. If possible please do a review of the 20l. I’m curious to see just how much smaller it is.
The 20L is a perfect everyday carry to the office or coffee shop. I have both and love them.

Looks like the perfect layout for me but this bag is really expensive.
Like that extra bag, could use it for purchases when you are traveling
Would you choose this or the AER City Pack Pro? My main usage will be for everyday use at the office and gym
I like the idea of the bag going in overhead compartment and the tote sitting under the seat in front. You could just use it for shopping too.
Awesome intro shots, great transitions - style feels new and different for you, I like it! Also what shirt are you wearing, looks great and comfy AF?
My trick is to first compare what you have to those who have nothing and find appreciation for it, and then go and do something nice for someone else without looking for anything in return. You will feel wealthy and fulfilled ❤
Studio Neat is one of my fav brands. Love they are based in Austin, too.
My tip/trick is to do or try something that challenges me, something that takes me out of myself, something out of my comfort zone. That resets me.
🙏

Does the hidden compartment with the tote eat into space in either the "brain" or the upper mesh compartment in the beaver paddle? Thanks!
Yea, it'll take up a little in both areas.
I would keep the extra attachable bag under the seat and put the main bag in the over head compartment.

oh interesting. I may be likely to do the same.
Is the end of this video a segue into the ketamine trip video?
Would it be considered 1 or 2 bags for the airplane limit??
Great review love it inspire me to be that travel digital nomad.
Thanks Chase! Sending you love and empathy from a fellow anxiety warrior.
Why did they not put compression straps inside? The elastic straps are not useful.

I just returned this bag and replaced it with a AER bag. Blown away by the aer xpac quality. Bellroy bag is nice but it needs to be 28 L

Amazing, but for 400€ you can get 2 insane different bags for different uses
If you’re asking? No! But I like the bag.
With things as they are, first remember: what is your purpose? Then, with that front of mind, what must you do next?
