I really love how the main compartment zips down the side and allows you to really open it up. I was looking at the Alpaka Go Sling Mini and I have the Bellroy Lite and I wish the main compartments opened up more for when I throw in my Fuji X100. This would give much more room to not only pull out the camera, but to pull out other items that are in the main compartment along with the camera. In my Bellroy (which is no where near its stated 7L capacity) I need to move the camera out of the way to get to things. The Go Sling Mini also looks more cramped. Loving this sling.
The ability for the sling to open up wide is definitely something we prioritized so glad that you like that feature! We do find the listed capacity to generally be overestimated for a lot of slings in the market, so we try to list our volume based on a practical estimate of how much the sling can fit.

Thanks for the compliments! As for why we did not make it compatible with the Reset series, we commented on this down below so I'll put it here again as well. One thing we want to cover soon in our blog is why we decided not to make this compatible with the Reset System. We will work on that, but long story short - we felt very limited in creating the best version of anything (be it the sling or say a backpack) while having to consider its compatibility within a system. There are certain elements that don't make as much sense to add if it's going to be a modular attachment. For example, a back pocket on a sling or a pocket across the front of a backpack. When everything is attached onto each other, that will render those types of pockets inaccessible. And from our experience, we get customers that either want the full system or nothing at all because each item might not be the best-in-class of that category. Ultimately, we decided that our goal is to make the best of each thing in its category so there's something for everyone. Hope that makes sense!
@ that’s good reasoning though to make it compatible should only requires adding 4 small loops to close to the rear of the back. As far as the Reset since you haven’t got a video on it so I will comment here. I am hoping that you would consider releasing a wider version of the bag. Maximum personal bag size are 18x14x8. By making the width 14 effectively make it a 26L bag.
So many nifty features! I’d love to get my hands on this. Am a little worried about the customs fees I’ll no doubt be slapped with, ordering from Europe. But maybe I’ll just bite the bullet!
Glad you like the features of the sling! Unfortunately custom fees are a thing. If you decide to go for it, hopefully, it’ll be worth it! Do let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.
Couple things, at 5L while probably not too often, could become rather heavy, will there be an offering for a padded strap? Second, I love the flap over the front pocket, aesthetic and combats water from getting in, but with that being said, I think the addition of aquaguard zippers is much needed. Third, I believe some padding on the bottom would also do it some good. Lastly, when the main compartment is full, how much does that affect the storage in the front pocket? Would it benefit from being a gusseted pocket?
@@grimm2871 Hey there! Those are some good recommendations which we have definitely considered when designing the sling. Please see below for our answers to your questions. 1) We decided not to go with a padded strap as it would add to the overall weight to the product when we wanted to make the sling relatively light weight. The strap is on the wider end, so in our experiences it is still pretty comfortable even at heavier loads. 2) For the zippers, we omitted aquaguard zippers as we wanted quick and smooth one handed access to the compartments, which is something aquaguard zippers do not allow for as they are more sticky to operate. The exterior zippers we are using are DWR (Durable Water Repellent) treated, so they are water resistant which provides a good bit of protection against water from ingressing. 3) Padding goes back to what we mentioned in point 1 above, which is prioritizing a relatively lightweight design given the other amount of features that we have already implemented. Addtionally, we want the sling to fold flat when the main compartment is empty, and adding padding to the bottom would impede this function as well. 4) The front pocket has its own dimension with the use of darts and pleats which you can see on the front of the bag. This allows the front to still have dedicated space even when the main compartment is packed full. 5) A luggage passthrough is a great idea, though making it the handle as well would prove to be challenging as we also have the back hidden pocket and carrying strap attachment points to consider when adding other features to the back of the sling. This would also make the back look more cluttered which does slightly go against our goal of a discrete aesthetic. For a larger variant with more space on the back, this is something we will certainly explore. Ultimately as a brand, we do not think that there is a perfect product for everyone, so we make it a point to prioritize certain elements that we want to achieve with the design parameters that we have established. In the case of this sling, some of the parameters are quick and easy access, space efficiency, relatively lightweight design, lowkey/discrete aesthetic to the product. Of course, those are just the design goals for this sling. Certain elements like more padding, aquaguard zippers, or more organization will be implemented if they serve to satisfy some of the design goals for future products. Hope that makes sense!

I spent a week in Japan with the Reset system by Rework Gear and am very happy how well it worked during my travels. The Toshi sling is a nice improvement on the Essentials case that is a part of that system so I'm disappointed that it doesn't have the molle webbing that would've allowed it to work with that system. Given how it's too small to fit a large tablet or laptop, having that molle system would allow it to be attached to their laptop case, kinda how the Wandrd Rogue sling works. Not really a rant. Just more of a "oh, what could've been."
@@MrPhilbautista Hey there, we love to hear from our Reset backers! @@ReworkGear I noticed that about the Essentials case. There's no rear pocket because of the molle webbing. But maybe you could lower the line where the webbing starts so you could maximize the width of the back pocket zipper? Anyway, I know nothing about the financial implications of product design and how much they would affect the product's price. Thanks for replying to my comment and I really appreciated the modularity of the Reset. More power to you in all your future endeavors.
I've been using an Aer city sling 2 for a few years, but wanted to get something larger for an upcoming trip to Japan to hold a compact mirrorless camera (A7CR). What are the internal dimensions of the main pocket? I like all the different features you've integrated into this bag, like the stowaway compression straps and hidden tracker pocket.
The main compartment measures roughly 27cm x 8.5cm (10.6" x 3.35") in terms of width and depth at the base. For a better sense of what can fit inside the main compartment, you can check out a review by Desy Cheng. He also goes over what sizes of cameras can fit in the sling. Link to video: ua-cam.com/video/gk8Rplsh1FM/v-deo.html Also glad that you like the features! We spent quite a bit of time refining them.
gosh..this sling has all the features that i NEED in a sling..ESPECIALLY the bottom external carry feature..not only can i strap an umbrella to it, but whenever i find myself in a situation where i need to carry my sandals around, i can wrap them in a plastic bag and strap it to the sling..god damn..i think i found my sling..i hope the distance between the 2 compression straps isnt too big so that shorter sandals/items wont fall out.
I love the suspended pockets, one of my problems with Aer Day Sling 3 with a water bottle and I can't use the mesh pockets. The only thing missing for me is a discreet handle at the top rear of the bag as there is the option to use it without the straps. The weight is also nice for a 5L sling. No Aquaguard and fidlock is good too. Not too sold on the big rain flap though as it is a quick pocket after all, at least it doesn't snag or hinder access too much. Would be nice to have a sailcloth version (ultra/ecopak) one day.
Oh yeah we noticed that a lot of mesh pockets are rendered unusable when the water bottle is in for a lot of bags, and designed the suspended pockets because we hate when that happens. We debated on the top handle for a bit, and ultimately decided to leave it for a bigger size, but I see your point. The rain flap actually came about because we have two pockets on the front and without it, the aesthetic would be strange. So it serves the purpose of keeping that clean look, while also protecting your items from rain, and hiding the zipper track helps to keep items more secure. We would love to do a sailcloth version in the future!
@@ReworkGear I missed that top front pocket! That's a fair reasoning for a flap. I hope to also see you create/rework some smaller/lighter backpack designs that are this clean, minimal and detailed. Been looking for a RFF 12 hr replacement but there isn't anything on the market as lightweight and clean as it is, although the features are very minimal and could use some updating in the details. Alpaka's Metro 12L is pretty close but the flap snagging corners and thin straps don't do it for me. Goruck Bullets are on the heavier, tactical side, and almost double in price.

The Toshi sling is absolutely perfect though in all aspects though. Ideally I would like to attach a hook and loop to the front of the Toshi sling to add morale patches. I replied to someone with the same thought on Reddit, so I thought I’d put it here too: One thing we want to cover soon in our blog is why we decided not to make this compatible with the Reset System.

Also glad that you like the features!
Glad you like the features we included! The compression straps are 14.5cm (5.6in) apart from center to center if that helps!
@@ReworkGear Im going to have to try it out myself. im buying! Thanks so much for this amazing product!
@@ReworkGear Taukey, next step is color options. Olive is a must. Olive/Black in X-Pac is a sure buy.
@@shiveringisles3509 Yeah I could totally see how a 12L backpack can fit in our lineup. That’s a great suggestion! We’ll bring it to the drawing board and see what we can come up with.
@@ReworkGear Same notion. I would love to see a ~12L clean and lightweight backpack with thoughtful design and decent organisation pockets like you have in the sling. Please have an external water bottle pocket.
@@shiveringisles3509 They have a 22L bp that might fit your needs. It's modular too, in case you have different use cases.
omg you guys are from Singapore! congrats on this amazing design - it definitely combines a lot of features from other similar slings - e.g. magnetic pocket fold - similar to code of bell - and other stuff too, looking forward to see what other bags you guys will design~
are you gonna stock at bagcreature? haha
@@FKAplanes Yes we are! We do want to reach out to bagcreature for sure, so we’ll try that and hope that we can work something out. We’re still very small, so we’re always not sure if retailers will want to stock our products!
What is the teal blue pouch you have in the bag and photos?
Its' an xpac pouch from ctactical.
I'm Japanese.
I want to buy your product!!
I Love❤
Hi! You can buy our product at reworkgear.com. We ship to Japan and we have good shipping options!

Thanks for replying❤
I'll try it!!
This bag would have been perfect. I just wished it had a grab handle for easy grabbing on the go.
@@Ryko000 Thanks for your feedback! Do you think the handle should be right on the top or is it okay if it’s at the top but on the back of the sling?
@@ReworkGear Right now I use the Tomtoc Wander sling. It's located on the top but more so on the back portion. I always use this grab handle because a lot of times, it's just easy to grab and go if I'm moving short distances rather than having to swing it.
The Toshi sling is absolutely perfect though in all aspects though. Ideally I would like to attach a hook and loop to the front of the Toshi sling to add morale patches. Do you think your bag will accommodate that customization or do you feel like the adhesive from the hook and loop Velcro patch would not work?
@@Ryko000 By hook and loop adhesive do you mean applying an iron-on loop backing to the bag to allow for different velcro patches? If so, that would definitely work! Patches that are meant to be ironed on straight to the fabric will work as well.
Remove the side stiches on your logo inside the bag, so it can be used as a pen loop. And if you make it from stretch material - would be even better.
@@M1keVazovskiy Thank you for the feedback! We appreciate it.
Nice Video..How much please? It is available in the Philippines Lazada or Shopee or Physical Stores please?
@@nivektek2681 Hi there! This retails for $89 USD, but unfortunately it’s not available in physical stores in the Philippines yet. We are working on a deal with a Philippines retailer, although no guarantees yet! You can buy it online at our site for now as we do ship to the Philippines.
For payment why don’t you give option like Klarna so we can pay in installments that would be great as I want to purchase one for myself.
Hey there! We activated Shop Pay installment purchasing. If you select "buy with Shop Pay", you will be given an installment option in the checkout. Hope that helps!
@@ReworkGear great let me go on there. Thankyou
Do you ship to Europe/Germany?
@@EugenKlein-x6y Yes, we do! We have both economy and express shipping options to Germany.
@@ReworkGear Thanks for the answer!
Can it fit a 13 inch MacBook Air?
@@sagaronyoutube nope, that’s way too big
can i see it in person, in japan? :D
@@kev16 Unfortunately not 😞 We are only online for now, but we are working to get our products distributed over there in the future.
I'm going to go against others and prefer it not to have a handle. For me it's unneeded weight/bulk for something I never use.
@@syn3rgyz Thanks for giving your 2 cents! That’s kind of why we didn’t add it, but we’ll see what everyone else says too, because we need a lot of responses to know if majority wants it or not.
A little pricey for an unknown brand. Price it accordingly then I might reconsider.
@@IOXY3 Thanks for your feedback! However, usually small businesses are the ones that have higher costs due to only being able to order smaller quantities from manufacturers. Being able to buy more stock is always going to be cheaper for us, but unfortunately we don’t have the same demand that big businesses do, and so we have to price our goods accordingly. Hope you can understand!
