For the side compartments I do the same : umbrella on one side, and on the other side (with the zipper) my Memobottle Slim for hydration. Fits perfectly.
i have this bag and really like it, but i agree on the capacity. I have taken it on light hikes as well and it wasn’t bad. But I would not take this on a strenuous hike.
I noticed the same thing about the volume. My AER Go Pack (22L) can fit nearly as much as this Venture Pack. Also, I can't stand that the Bellroy doesn't stand up AT ALL. Even when leaning it against something (either front or back) it just slides away. The rear panel piece is quite long, which leads to the bottom not sitting flat. I like the bag, the material is great and it looks nice, but I can't get over the sitting flat problem as well as it fitting less than expected. I'm selling it.
Hmm, I guess I'm used to hiking packs so I'm quite happy with how this one stands up. It almost stands on its own, I just place it down next to something usually. Many hiking packs are much worse.
I just bought this bag and have taken it on one short weekend trip. I liked it, but wish the shoulder straps had more padding. Were they comfortable enough for you traveling for one week?
The cons you described are basically filled with the ULA Dragonfly. Something to look into. They have a 30l that is actual 26l and the extra 4 come from the mesh pockets.
I agree you CANNOT take this bag on a hike! You can travel with it and look professional even as you are carrying a pack. this is a very handsome bag-but not for snow, muds and rain.
Like your review! I found it very informative and practical since you have been using it in real life. Do you have any issue with the shoulder straps? They are not very thick and also narrow. I am afraid they would dig into shoulders when going on a long hike.
Not at all - they are very thick and padded. Not very wide yes, but the padding makes up for it. I find them very comfortable compared to most backpacks.
Great review! I actually just returned the Venture Ready Pack. I really like it a lot, but my biggest complaint was the organization. It really only has 2 pockets. I don't count the 3rd side pocket because that one is so narrow and hard to access. I wish it had one more front pocket to give extra organization for items you access more often. Otherwise, you're stuck having to use the main compartment.
Thanks! You probably wouldn't like hiking packs then as they often have even less organization options. I like using small pouches to organize stuff so that wasn't as much of an issue for me as the overall size. But yeah, an extra front pocket or expandable area would fix that.
@@j0404t I ended up buying the Aer City Pack Pro. It has more versatility than the Bellroy one and it was cheaper. I will say, it is more for everyday/travel, not hiking.
Very nice review. U had all valid practical points there that are not usually talked about a lot.
Thank you!

Nice review. I just picked up one of these packs too, but haven't had opportunity to use it yet.

Nice review - do you remember what brand your toiletries bag is? Been trying to find something smaller.
Yeah me 2 thanks
It's a no-brand cheap bag that came in some purchase of deodorant pack or something lol. The cost must be less than $2.

Hey Danny, curious what did you end up going with to replace the Venture backpack? I have am considering selling mines for same reasons.

You need mystery ranch scapegoat 25L^ ^
What colour is the bag? Thanks
"Nightsky". That's what Bellroy calls this bag's color.
