I will always remember Cam Newton's rookie season because that was the first season I started watching football. Watching him play that year, and in his MVP season was something truly special.
@@avacadomangobanana2588 so if I’ve liked the ravens since week 8 of the 2009 season when they beat the Broncos does that mean I’m a life long ravens fan?
@Fries Very True. Sadly Andrew Luck wasn't able to get that protection in the early part of his career when it was necessary and it destroyed his career.
@Fries And yes Later Round Lineman could be good but it is wiser to pick the First or 2nd Round Offensive Linemen. The biggest problem was the Colts not getting any Offensive Linemen in Free Agency or going after them in the draft outside the later rounds. Andrew Luck was a generational talent but due to his team not supplying him with an offensive line(or atleast trying to outside the later rounds) it ruined him. But yes by the time Ryan Kelly got to Indianapolis, Luck had been injured. It didn't help that after his first season, his Offensive Coordinator/Interim Coach left for the Cardinals, that OC was Bruce Arians who would revitalize Carson Palmer's Career and helped the Steelers win ironically against the Cardinals.
I went to high school with Braden Smith (T) who got drafted by the colts in the second round of the same draft as Nelson, and Braden is *really* good but he will just always be overshadowed
Aaron Hernandez’s career will always be overshadowed by his off-field issues and by the success of his teammate Gronk, but he was a truly special TE in his own right. Some would even say that he had the mentality of an absolute killer
Honestly what always impressed me the most about Eric Dickerson besides his blazing speed was his ability to change direction at his size. He was so smooth in everything he did even in those ridiculously huge uni’s they wore back then. He’s like watching a deer run full speed through a forest at night.
That is a tough one because there has been so many. Earl Campbell, Lawrence Taylor, George Rogers, Randy Miss, Micah Parsons,Deion Sanders, Everton Walls, and Dan Marino are the guys who dominated in their rookie seasons. I added defensive players because they just cannot be ignored.
I've never seen another rookie wide reciever have such an impact on a team like Randy Moss did his rookie year ... It was such a treat to watch as a teenager
Adrian Peterson couldve had a ED like rookie season, but after having almost 300 yards rushing against the Chargers, more then 1000 yards in 8 games, he missed 2 games and the other games they barely gave him 12 attempts per game. Also Edgerrin James better be in part 2. Dude had 2000 yards for scrimmage and 18 tds. Him and Moss easily the best rookie seasons ever.
Great video and excellent content. I would like to point out something about Randy’s single season TD mark of 23. While it’s the top in the single season rankings it doesn’t compare to Jerry Rice’s of 22 in 1987. That year Rice played in 12 games due to the Owner lockout and Player strike. Based on his average of 1.83 per game, he could have likely gotten near 30 touchdowns but certainly would have exceeded the mark of 23 that Moss set in the pass first offenses of the 21st century. Moss also had 93 catches hence a heck of more targets than Rice’s 65 catches in 1987. Perspective is always important when comparing records.
Dickerson is so charismatic. I wasn’t a Rams fan then (am since 1999 the Day whenM Faulk was traded) but I watched him all I could like Later I would Barry Sanders.
KTO’s best rookies team Qb: Justin Herbert Rb: Eric Dickerson Wr: Randy Moss Te: Mike Dikta O line: Quinten Nelson My rookie team Qb: Justin Herbert Rb: Jim Brown Wr: Randy Moss Te: Gronk O line: Orlando Pace
Jamar Chase paired with burrow basically helped them to the super bowl game, also had multiple 200 yard games while burning some of the top corners aka Ramsey
I'm just gonna say Franco Harris - he made the Steelers winners and was only the second rookie running back ever to gain 1000 rushing yards in a season (John Brockington first). Pittsburgh lost the AFC Championship game to Miami and Harris was Rookie of the Year. Oh, and he had The Immaculate Reception. He was the best running back when the games counted - in the postseason.
@@blainegwen4858 you’re right. But as a rookie he only started 9 games. Threw 20tds and only 6 INTs. Became the first rookie to ever start a pro bowl. Considering the era that he played in I think this worthy of a mention of being one of the beat rookie seasons. Not the best. But has to be considered right?
@@jacobwander2962 he wasn’t ever on great teams. Look at the Bills and how stacked they were and they couldn’t ever get it done. No one was beating the NFC powerhouses back then.
Devin Hester is my choice. I was thinking hard about Herbert, broke just about every rookie QB record. But Hester did something that hasn't been done by any player, all in his rookie year.
Hester definitely added a dimension that put that Bears team over the edge. We will probably never see what Hester did ever again with rule changes making returners far less impactful then in years past, which will only add to his mystique. We talk about CB's that you don't throw to their side. We talk about WR's you have to double cover, or RB's you have to stack the box for for example. But Hester was absolutely, game in and out, a player you didn't kick to. There were great returners in his era and prior for sure, but Hester put the fear of god into ST coordinators at night.
@@OldManLuffy I agree. What Randy Moss did his rookie year at a time where the NFL was still primarily a run first league was insane. The man was literally running verticals nearly every play and the NFL had no answer for YEARS.
Hester definitely has my vote for a rookie year performance that will never be duplicated. Probably not the "greatest offensive rookie all-time", but we'll never see anyone repeat what he did.
Imagine if obj played the first 4 games. Definitely would have had the most yards by a rookie and most likely 2-5 more tds. Definitely had potential to finish with 16-17 tds but nobody will do what randy did. Them LSU wrs something different
You ceased to mention how close Chase Claypool was to reaching Randy's Production through the first 10 games last year. Most TDs in the first 10. He came out firing as a rookie honestly. But the season is 17 now 18 games and there's always circumstances. Good video tho
It does honestly make me curious how many touchdowns Jerry Rice could have had in that year that he caught 22 when he only played 12 games that year. I mean Randy Moss in order to break that record to get the 23 touchdowns actually had to play all 16 games
Really hope u read this, cool idea for a series- go over nfl records such as rushing, rushing tds, passing, passing tds, and cover/show the top 3 or top 5 of that revord
Not trying to diminish Moss as a great rookie, but it's important to note he had HoF WR Cris Carter on the other side of the field, so he wasn't getting #1 DB contention.
Moss's rookie season is still by far the greatest rookie season of all-time. I don't think people realize how absurd it is for a rookie WR to come in and instantly lead the league in TDs. That would be like Ja'Marr Chase winning the triple crown of receiving this season.
Even tho he didn’t win the triple crown he put up insane numbers and beat JJ rookie record. He should do a part two and I’d put Ja’marr atleast 2nd or 3rd what he did this season was amazing.
Tristan Wirfs was an absolute unit last year. His rookie season, blocking for the greatest of all time in Tom Brady and he only allowed a single sack all year. Who did he allow? Khalil Mack lol. I’m okay with that being the one that got through. This man put up a 450lb clean and jerk his sophomore season at Iowa. He jumped straight out of a pool at the 5ft mark. If I’m building a team right now, Brady goes number 1, wirfs goes number 2.
