    Have over 4000km on the clock on a Baker Express since May. Returning rider after many years. Handles like a dream with enough poke and plenty of character. And yes you're right, it always gets plenty of attention. Been getting 3.5 - 4litres/100km so economical as well. It's a customizer's dream with plenty of aftermarket parts available from a multitude of companies and that engine note is damned infectious. Cheers from NZ

    I am in the U.S. and have over 20,000 miles on my 2020 650INT. Have worn out 3 rear tires, 2 front tires and 3 headlamps. Oddly the chain and sprockets, disc brake pads and such show little wear after almost two years. Best buy value in today's market!

    Been riding for 50 years and this is the most fun bike i have owned. And so easy to service like the old days! RE is reminding me of the start of the Japanese bikes in the late 60's. Lookout Japan!

      I hadn’t thought of it but in those terms but 100% agree, these 650 twins are very much like the Japanese bikes if the 60s an early 70s. So I hear anyway, clearly I’m to young to remember those days😂

    I always hold my breath on the interceptor reviews. Have to admit I agree with you on all counts. I have 19,000 km on mine. It is my 3rd bike and I did have it on my probationary licence. Mods are good. So far I have the engine gaurds and the BAAK offroad sump guard. More BAAK and Hitchcock are in the way. And for pies, I would recommend Apollo Bay. Cheers.

    At 57 I am a beginning biker and my first bike - a Honda CBR125 - died on me after two months of riding. So a lot sooner than planned I started looking for a somewhat beefier replacement. The Royal Enfield Intereptor caught my eye and I needn't look any further. The test ride was amazing, so I bought the test bike. With the sun out and high temperatures - in Belgium! - I nail bite myself through the days and hope for the license plate to sit in the mailbox every morning. In the mean time I watch everything UA-cam can throw at me and enjoyed your review. It really stands out. Cheers mate, and thank you for sharing your thoughts.

    Great overview of a brilliant bike. I spotted Ogio saddle bags in one pic. How do you get on with them? A review would be good. Agree about the seat I swapped mine out for the Continental GT touring seat. Fit is perfect and it makes a real difference. Bar end mirrors are easy to fit too. I got mine from Hitchcocks here in the UK but they look pretty standard. Another mod I would suggest is the K&N filter upgrade, makes a noticeable difference! Cheers 😀

    • @BikerTorque
      @BikerTorque  3 роки тому

      I believe they were Ogio bags on the Interceptor that I had on loan. Overall they were pretty good, very easy to fit and take of when required. Storage capacity was good also. I ended up taking them off for most of the shots of the bike because I thought the bike (pretty much any bike) looks better without them, but if you need storage on this bike, not a bad option. Yes, K&N or DNA hi flow air filter is another great and easy mod, I’ve done that to the Continental GT in the garage.

    Love my Interceptor 650, it's just so much fun to ride. I've had mine a little over a year now. At first the foot peg position bothered me but you learn to adjust and now it just isn't an issue. The seat change will be coming but first I have to do something about the grips. On long rides my hands tend to start aching from holding the throttle for so long. I have some grip puppies and one of those palm throttle attachments coming. After that I'll address the seat. I love how nimble the bike is when riding, it's just easy to ride. Day to day around town riding is so much fun, I often look for excuses to get out and get some seat time.

Transformed the bike from a bit too polite to a bit of a hooligan. I figure a 30hp 500cc single Sherpa would also be cool, if the parallel twins don't fit the frame of the Himalayan. Considering the bundles of torque from the single pot mill.

    Only two things I dislike on my Interceptor (2019 Orange Crush) is the tendency of the instruments to fog up in wet weather and as you found out, the position of the footpegs banging your shins when you stop. I swapped the stock seat for an aftermarket touring seat and replaced the grab rail with a small chrome luggage rack. I live in the country, and most of kms are at highway speeds. The stock version is very capable of loafing along at 110kmh. A bit of bathroom sealant fixed the instrument fogging and I have got used to the awkward foot position when stopped. A pair of calf length boots has prevented any blood loss from the shins. :-)

    • @BikerTorque
      @BikerTorque  3 роки тому +1

      I have spoken to Royal Enfield about the fogging and this has something that has been fixed in the later models. I do occasionally see it on the Continental GT we own, but must admit when I wash the bike, using a bike dryer really helps to dispel the water that gets caught. Glad to hear your shins are protected👍

    Compared the stock interceptor to a modified one about 18 months ago. An aftermarket exhaust and air filter, the touring seat and a tiny front fairing made the bike so much more fun to ride. I think the mods came to an extra $2000. But well worth it.

    As I’m living in Belgium, I would like to known your feeling about the quality of the CEAT tyres under the rain.

      @BikerTorque  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks for watching. I didn’t do much riding in the rain when I had the bike for review, but must admit, overall I preferred the Pirelli’s that RE put on the initial versions of this bike, although nothing wrong with the CEAT’s. When they are up for replacement if it were mine I’d look at something like a set of Michelin Pilot Actives or similar

    Beware they can be beset with elecrial woes , fuel sensors etc.
    Mine and others I know of, have been cutting out and difficult to start.
    Front forks in particular are woeful when hitting pothole mid corner and overtakes have to be planned well ahead as if driving an underpowered car.
    I love the look and sound and I accept the value they provide but certainly not Japanese quality.
    The Interceptor did get me back to riding by it's price point but it is with much relief I traded mine on a Z900RS.
    All the things the Interceptor is not, with as much cool.

    Excellent review! I like everything about the bike but feel apprehensive about the horsepower. I live in the U.S. and highway riding there is a need to accelerate to lane change or to keep up with traffic. So this is something that I wonder about. What is perplexing is that this is a two cylinder bike so it seems like that should have given it more power at least 75 horsepower. I would keep the bike stock pretty much. It is a beautiful bike that I would definitely put on my bucket list. Hey what is up with the burgers and stuff?

    • @BikerTorque
      @BikerTorque  2 роки тому +1

      The Interceptor is fine on the freeway for a while, not sure you’d want to be riding on a freeway all day but that is probably the same for any bike. Did you like the burger? Just trying to keep things a bit different.

      @@BikerTorque Thanks! That makes sense, so it is not a bike that you would take trips with? I just purchased a 701 Svarpt. and I looked at Royal Engflied but I paid more attention to the Himalyain. I wish I would have noticed this bike. I may still do it and check it out. And the 44 horsepower felt ok? Yes, I like the burger you gave me some ideas.

      @@p-dub7422 Here in Texas, the interstate where I live has a speed limit of 75 mph. It does just fine on it, even in the Texas heat. As with everywhere it seems, hardly no one is running the speed limit and sometimes you have to give it some throttle to keep from being run over. The 650 will do just fine on it, take it from me.

    Just one of those bikes I never gelled with. Bit of a nut crusher with the standard seat after an hour. Suspension felt soft but crashy over anything resembling an Australian road. Front and rear in constant disagreement. What else🤔... Knees never really hug the tank and touch the hot cylinder cases 🔥. Pirelli Phantoms felt fine to a point then you better have invested in some crash gear (yes I binned it on the road) First bike in 50 years. 7/10th and call it a day I think. Did I mention the weight. pretty porky for a 650. Mods were DNA air filter and free flow exhaust (de-cat), still felt a little lacking in excitement ... Peg position as you mentioned but the real issue is they are offset (look closely) with odd shaped brackets. Other than that, well made, looks great from all angles, exceptional value, substantial feel. A Ducati Scrambler is more exciting but costs a bomb to service. A Suzuki SV 650 does everything better but doesn't look as cool. I'd recommend, take a look at the new Kawasaki Z650 RS and cross shop the Interceptor with all the above before biting the bullet.
