Having to audition each year makes sense but I would die of anxiety
Okay but same.
Auditioning should be one of those things that your glad you did, but also glad that you’ll never have to do it again.
Not every year 💀💀
Those who get in the first year should audition every other year. Unless something happens (like pregnancy or death), auditioning every year is kind of excessive
I mean it would keep me on my toes all year and I wouldn't complain about the job as much, knowing that I'd have to audition again for my place
Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders audition every year too
danielisntreal exactly
This girl telling us she tryed three times. Shows us we shouldn't give up on our dream that makes us happy.

Just like spelling. *Tried

That’s not even that much.
Malia Wolven yeah cool three years isn’t that long at all
They haven’t picked one person here with a bad personality in this series. They all know what they’re doing and seem really friendly
That's how they get where they are! A beautiful heart gives them there dream job.

Natalie Besko huh
That's because the performers that aren't super famous know humility and they know being judged. Only a few let it go to their heads and those are the ones that don't get along in the group anyway.
yes!
when she said that they do around 300 kicks per show made me feel like i couldnt even walk
ikr i cant even walk around the grocery store for an hour without getting tired

me being a ballet dancer and an aspiring rockette:
this woman: “the height requirement is 5’6-5’10.5”
my 4’11 self: “i-“
Lol you posted this one minute ago well I’m sos sorry but you’ll find somewhere else to take your talents!!!
Even a lot of dance companies and artists want their dancers to be at least average height. Life isn’t fair.
But hey, you must have a huge advantage in the ballet world!
Ruby Y. it depends. Some ballets prefer tall dancers.
I FEEL THIS ON A SPIRITUAL LEVEL
I had an old lady as a patient years ago, she had been a Rockette waaay back in the day, in the 1930s, when she was young. She was so interesting.
Wow! She must have had quite a story!
@@untitleddocument512 yes she want like the other old ladies.. She was more flamboyant and outgoing but was so nice
My grandmother was born in 1926.... the things they've survived and seen... So amazing.. they lived our 'history'. ❤❤❤
Yes. Before the collapse into postmodernism.
It would be so interesting to watch a documentary about the first Rockettes and what has changed or is still the same.
I can't believe I danced with her when we were young and here she is
Noice didn't hit that did yea
King Fisher What?
Eli Pembroke that’s cool
Why are so many people being negative about this it’s cool she has the right to tell us
That is so great ☺️ I really hope you are doing as well as her ❤️
When she said she works out before all of her shows I gasped... imagine being that fit that you workout BEFORE your 4 show INTENSE WORKOUT
Same...like what?!
If it helps, it sounds like it's not an intense workout, just something to get her blood pumping and muscles warmed up
You have to
@@zoinks-scoobPeople forget that dancers are athletes. Nobody questions a football player who works out before a game. You have to get warm and stay warm. The added pressure is staying injury free and not let the rest of the ensemble down.
She is a prodigy and seriously as sweet as she looks. Mindy is a class act
She has such a charming personality - there's not a darn thing about her that is fake, all that enthusiasm and positivity is just 100% her. Really enjoyed this video, it's lovely to see people at the top of their game who maintain a realistic perspective but clearly really enjoy what they do and know what they're talking about.
You can def tell she is a genuine person. Not sure what the 14 ppl who disliked this video are doing with their life.

A charmin commercial came on while I read this
You took the words right outta my mouth- er- you said it better but you get my point
You wrote that so good!
I love how these segments show us that these drop dead gorgeous, flawless, women we idolize aren't perfect, aren't always confident, and go on stage with uneven makeup and just hope for the best. It makes them feel more real and make us feel less crappy about ourselves
And also. Most dancers live in constant pain.
Absolutely
but they dont hope for the best, they spend literally hours a day rehearsing and their entire day preparing for it, to shrug it off like its just a wing and a prayer and that somehow makes them more real is the kind of insulting attitude only insecure people make up, you dont have to tear people down or diminish their hardwork and if that somehow makes you feel better about yourself, you need a reality check
@@Welshy idk what kind of power trip you're on, but I was talking about their makeup and confidence. Get over yourself.
Some are biological males.

As a former theater kid, a 72 second costume change is absolutely impressive. My fastest costume change was MAYBE three minutes and it took two people to help me get changed and another person to give me the other actress’s mike and I was SWEATING the whole time. Shoutout to EVERY single person who’s part of a performance like this because it truly is a UNIT
I have a feeling they utilize many tricks to make it happen
I'm a costumer for my school, fastest change I ever had was 60 seconds by myself. I got it done in 52 seconds each show night!! 😅
@@ameliacostello4871 you said the fastest you had was 60 seconds, then said you got it done in 52 seconds??
@@ItsAAABatteryJuice_ I had 60 seconds to complete the change
“If I’m nervous, I just care!”
Wow that’s actually something to think about. I like that a lot
i don’t know what she meant by that
reel you see, if you don’t care for something then it won’t matter to you how things will turn out. for instance if you went to audition to be the lead in a movie/show but it wasn’t something you really wanted to do in life then you wouldn’t really be nervous because if you failed to obtain the part then it wouldn’t bother you. You wouldn’t really care, you have other ambitions in life- but if it’s your whole life and it’s your career then you’d want to be the best you can and do everything you can to take hold of that position so you’d get super nervous because you wouldn’t want to fail and the thought of making a mistake and failing will bring you disappointment.
Please let me know if I helped you at all :)

Omg they should get paid WELL. This is exhausting for the body and mind
Totaly agree! It's such a shame that most performers get paid so poorly... It takes soo much physical and mental strength and discipline. I wish I had half the determination she has 😅
I looked it up and they make about 11600 in eight weeks getting paid about 1400-1500 weekly
Let me be a rockette 😭lol
@@nikkicolon3342 that dosent seem like a lot of money at all for what they do
Sarah Myers uh 11600 to dance for eight weeks not counting what they get paid for when they are off season for events is a good amount
They obviously think it’s enough that they are doing it and living there job 🤷🏻♀️
I wanna see a rockette wear a Fitbit/step counter and see after a full show days count. 👀
Ashley J I’m not a rockette but I was a high kick dancer and I would always hit 10,000 steps during a 2-hour practice. My Fitbit would start buzzing in the middle of practice haha! My guess is they probably hit close to 100,000 on a show day!
When I ran a marathon it was only 60,000 steps and that was around 6 hours of running and walking around.
@@thedancinggymnast4639 they go out at a very fast pace though where as marathon runner would probably not be moving that fast. But idk lol
Carol Howard that's right, but they said 10,000 during a two hour practice which is kinda high
But yeah I would imagine they do ten time more then that
Ashley J that'd be interesting🤣🤣
She had a natural high energy about her. And it’s nice to see a dancer who actually eats. She’s beautiful in and out.
DeadBarbieDoll13 I guess every dancer has to eat properly - they’re athletes, not models! 👍
Der Franz Indeed. My cousin was a ballet dancer for many years and those girls used to starve themselves just to maintain a certain weight. But it’s refreshing to see dancers who actually fuel their body’s the right way.
That's semi a myth, i was a dancer and i ate so much but because i was dancing so much, i would burn everything off. I would always get comments telling me i should eat and it bothered me. Dance is different than any other sport, we get slim, not muscular 😊
I dance and this is usually a total myth! We all love to eat and do it constantly!
@Jamie Pull That Up What? Everyone here knows she is a dancer. FFS. Get off your high horse.

It's insane how coveted and sought after being a Rockette is considering they get paid less than 40k per year, have to re-audition every year, responsible for doing their own hair and makeup on top of that, plus all the hard training and hours that go into it per day😂
I have no idea but maybe it helps for other jobs
Maybe it's a fasttrack to finding a rich NYC husband or sugar daddy???
Because, without fail, any time you have a high concentration of fit, attractive women in the entertainment industry, the wealthy Creepers and Skirt Chasers are right there, too.
It’s definitely not a fast track to a sugar daddy, dancers do what they do because they love it. Many of us (including myself) can’t imagine their life without performing. I’m not a rockette, I’m a ballet dancer, but it’s the same for me- I can’t imagine a life where I don’t dance, no matter how much I get paid
Yah I don’t do ballet but I do tap and jazz and modern and I would LOVE to be a rockette!
100% for the love of it
She is absolutely adorable. The perfect amount of bubbly without being annoying. Beautiful inside and out.
Literally -- you can tell her energy that she shows during the entire vid is genuine. And every time she smiles is genuine also. Love this chick! Lol
She would never brag in middle school about being in the nutcracker she's a prodigy and as sweet as they come.
She has a wonderful personality. Very pretty too. Keep on kicking.
She is the sweetness girl you would ever meet. Never brags class act. She was in the nutcracker in middle school.
I go to RSI every summer and let me tell you she is one of the most genuine people I’ve ever met. So sweet and encouraging and just lights up the room when she walks in, loves her job and loves teaching what she loves to us dancers. Definitely one of my favorite rockette instructors I’ve had :)
Katie Brophy wow! She seems so sweet. I can’t imagine being so talented!

Just wondering, why do they always call themselves “radio city rockettes” are there other rockettes other than the ones at radio city?
I don’t believe so. It’s just they’re uniform and official name. It sounds cool too so I don’t blame them
Maybe since they are at the radio city music hall it was better to identify as a radio city rockette than just a dancer.
the radio city it’s the main Theater
They are called the radio city rockettes because they feel that they represent “radio city”. ( I’m pretty sure)
There are only one rockettes and back then it was more making sure no one recreated their idea

I wish they showed what she ate in a day. I’d like to know what fuels her body for that kind of grueling demand on the body. I wonder why they only showed her eating an orange...
They have multiple cookie jars tho!! 😍
I find this more interesting than what she eats. Those videos can be pretty toxic as well
Because when they showed her eating it was a snack between shows. You try eating a heavy meal and then doing 300 kicks. See if you can keep that down.
She said cereal orange and poss a cookie
Like someone else mentioned, she said she eats 4 full meals with carbs and protein. So probably a lot of like chicken, veggies, rice, etc. But there’s so much that she could eat that has a lot of protein and what she needs to stay healthy
I remember seeing them almost every year with my Girl Scout troop. We’d get a tour of the place and get to meet the dancers. The one thing I always remember is that the dresses are completely covered in Swarovski crystals .
Wow 😂
the part she talked about tearing up as her number starts is so relatable the first time I ever got a major role in high school for the nutcracker at my studio it was so much emotions at once youre so amazing keep dancing queen
I 100% agree with this. It doesn't matter how many times I've been on stage or behind as a dresser I still get that feeling. I'm not a professional actor, but I always feel so incredibly blessed to be able to have theater as a creative outlet. I'm more at peace in a theater than I am anywhere else.

Y’all I’m not saying EVERYONE in the world thinks carbs are bad, but the people saying that no one thinks carbs are bad is just funny. There’s so many people that don’t eat carbs SPECIFICALLY because they think they are bad for you.
