I just saw a video by a nutritionist who is also a former dancer who reviewed this video. She calculated about 1600 calories and said it's waaay too little for someone burning up to 3000 calories a day. It doesn't matter how small she is, if she regularly eats just about half the calories she burns she can't stay healthy..

Just remember everybody has different nutritional needs, so it is never a good idea to copy somebody else’s diet.
I saw many people saying this promotes under eating, so I would recommend focusing on the good relationship she seems to have with food, the good habit of cooking your own meal and how excited she seems about her healthy meals. These are good things to get inspired by and apply on one’s life. Again, do not copy the diet itself, because everybody has different needs. Stay safe, everybody

Am I the only one who feels she does not eat that much food? With 7 hours of ballet a day I would genuinely have thought she would have had more food. For example she had only one piece of bread in the morning to accompany the egg and the avocado. It kind of stresses me out, I eat more than her and by no means am I so active O.o
EDIT: Thanks for all the answers! I am not trying to criticize her diet (I really love her and follow her on several media plus I trust she does the rights choices for herself) but rather to understand it as I was genuinely surprised. I pay a lot of attention to my food and eat mostly vegetables, organic, non-processed etc. but still, I do eat more (I am french and its a bit cliché but for ex I eat a LOT more bread) without being particularly active and I am not overweight. Which is why I thought someone as active would need more food (I notably think of Natacha Océane's videos where she seems to eat more carbs and more sweets).
Edit 2: ok I saw a dietician review where she confirmed this was not enough at all! I don't blame Scout but Glamour for posting such inconsiderate content and for not taking it down. This video made me feel bad about myself until I got the proper informations.

As a Professional dancer myself and fitness instructor, please please please don't mistake this as a 'normal' diet. She is eating way under what a Ballerina should eat for that amount of working out. Even for a normal person who isn't working out 8-9 hours a day. This makes me sad to see the perpetuation of old and antiquated stereotypes of stick-thin dancers who basically have a carb-free diet. Im not attacking her as a person, just sad that this is an acceptable 'example' of what a ballerina eats.

Questions which quite frankly are none of our business and I am sorry to be even asking them... but just saying that context is important for being such a visible example. Younger dancers are going to look at the very little calories and carbs in particular that she eats during the day as a professional ballerina who trains a full-time schedule and think that is normal and mores, the most of what a ballet dancer should eat.

Just FYI for anyone scared of microwaves: the electromagnetic radiation of microwave ovens is non-ionizing (Uranium or Plutonium for example are radioactive and therefore ionizing) and stops as soon as the power is cut off. The heating is effected by causing the water molecules in the food or liquid to vibrate - this "movement" generates thermal energy, in turn heating the food.
So unless you operate an oven without a door and stand directly in front of it, nothing happens.

Dancer here. She’s referring to her muscles, not her physical shape. You could look amazing, but if you haven’t danced as intensely in a while you have to ease your muscles back in otherwise they go into shock and you end up injured.
Personal example: last year over lockdown my hip flexors tightened up a little (like it was hardly even noticeable). This resulted in a back injury when I went back to dancing 9am - 7pm as my body tried to compensate but didn’t have the glute activation/strength to support the spine in that way. One tiny change can impact muscles all over the body.

As a former dancer who had a similar schedule as her eating protein is essential with that amount of physical activity. Getting those veggies in with a green powder as well as some hearty veggies should be a daily habit. But me personally, would need a little more than what she is doing. I usually needed a a good hearty sandwich by lunch time.

Do not watch if you have a history of eating disorders. Scout is clearly an amazing dancer and charismatic personality, but WOW, this was incredibly triggering for me. It has taken me so long to develop a good relationship with food and honoring my hunger and satiety signals. I have not had an active eating disorder for quite some time, but watching this I could hear my old eating disorder perk up say, "Hey, if Scout Forsythe can burn a few thousand calories daily and only replenish with 1600 calories/day, what's your excuse? Maybe you should reign it in. . .etc." It was so disheartening. I have to keep reminding myself after watching this that I am okay, and the voice telling to cut calories does not have my interest at heart.

The bread at breakfast, the vegetable soup (especially if she adds a grain like farro as she said, and root vegetables like carrots, parsnips, potatoes) has tons of carbs. Her snacks were carbs. Then all the veggies at dinner. Most of her carbs are fibrous, as opposed to starchy - but they are carbs. Vegetables are carbohydrates.

Scout said in the beginning of the video how she is trying get back in to shape so she maybe trying
to lose weight but I do got say that her caloric intake is pretty low for ballet dancer. But she may have some reasons like when she said that soup/salad helped her performance and having something light helped her not feel so "weighed down". Her preferences also could be reason for her very low calorie intake she even admitted she preferred fruits and vegetables. A ballet dancer burns between 2,000 to 3,000 calories on an average day so she needs to eat enough food to have sustainable energy for all the things she does. As reminder she might eat more on other days. Was looking at comment and they calculated her overall intake to be 1,400 which might not be enough for her as ballet dancer. She is a very dedicated to her profession and hope the best for her.

Hey guys! I honestly liked her healthy eating habits, but I do agree that it is very little food for a very intense routine such as hers.
I think both breakfast and dinner are fine though. What I would’ve changed was the lunch: I’d add potatoes, because carbs are really needed for the energy thing, and some proteins. Maybe smalls slices of meat, like chicken, I think would be nice. And I’d have more fruits during the day, to compensate the amount of energy I’d spend.
Just an idea! Shes happy and beautiful anyways, so that’s fine ❤😊

“People have the impression that ballerinas subsist on a daily diet of an apple and yogurt-that’s completely untrue! We wouldn’t have the energy to dance. Dancers watch what they eat and just avoid fatty foods because they’re bad for the joints. Not too much alcohol either, because toxins get in the muscles. Especially not white wine; it’s acidic. Red wine is fine in small doses. Dancers eat a lot of pasta and slow-release carbohydrates, especially before shows. Not too many fast-release carbohydrates, because they give you energy for five minutes, and then it’s all over. We sometimes eat chocolate bars to get a boost before dancing or during intermission. Basically, we eat everything in moderate quantities. What makes dancers so thin is exercise.”
