You can hear the strain smoking has put on Glenn's lungs, there is only one Keith Richards that can do that for 75 years and still be alive, but with smoker's I know I was one for too long the lungs get very weak and can not fight off a cold and it always goes right to the weakest place in the body to live, once a person gets Pnumonia it's 50/50 on whether they survive or not they drown basically it's pretty ugly if you smoke better to quit and get em strong the lungs can heal but not when they are under attack they have to stay healthy in order to make the trip, Loved this band, Neil found the body to Glen's Sg and had it restored to it's former glory, it's to bad we can't do that with people, but like another Neil says, once your gone you can't come back.
I met Glen in 1987 when I was living in Phoenix (ironically I moved there from Iowa, not too terrible far from Clarion where this interview was filmed). He was living with in a house with a bunch of local Phoenix musicians, one of which was the step-son of my dad’s friend. Glen was selling a couch and I needed one, so I went to the house, met Glen, shook his hand, and paid him $40 for the couch (cool guy!). Surreal now in retrospect! Ha! Found several guitar picks in that couch after I got it home. :) Wish I’d have not lost them over the years. Thanks for posting this interview.
To Lonesome Roadie Productions: Thank you VERY MUCH for posting this about Glen Buxton. I have been a fan of the ORIGINAL Alice Cooper band for 47or48 yrs and was SO SORRY about Glen's death(I didn't know until a few years after). I was ALWAYS hoping for a reunion after Alice went solo and all the legal issues. I lost interest in SOLO Alice in the late '70s, but have started to get interested in the recent activity and hope that the surviving members release something new. I just wish Glen could have been around to be involved. Once again, THANKS for letting me see and hear one of my HEROES from my teen years!
Iowa? Man, after all of that time in the spotlight with aC he really went off of the map. great original. He made sounds o his explosive bits that guitarists are still trying to figure out. As Alice said at Alice Coope bands induction into the hall of fame Glen was the soul of the band. A rarified guy.
I personally find it unsettling that at one point in his life he's making $5000.00 a week (early 1970's by the way) and playing in front of 150,000 people, and 20 years later he's in a farmhouse in Iowa. I love the dude; he was always my favorite of the original lineup. But, to me, something speaks of loneliness. His "Cold Room" was eerily childlike with pictures taped to the walls, like a teenager's room. I truly hope he was happy and content. He was an enigma, for certain!! Good old G.B. he's in Heaven playing Coop songs!! He's got some dirty words in his desk! Well, now it's time for recess!
Regarding the "Cold Room." As the camera panned the walls of the "Cold Room", the lyrics of "I'm Eighteen"-"I'm A Boy & I'm a Man, but I like it!" came to mind. Great interview too!
Drug addiction...he was/is my favorite member too...i never understood what happened to him for awhile when i was a kid...then i read "Billion dollar baby" & it drops hints what was going on with him in those days ...
Like his room being like a teenagers, well you have to remember most musicians live in a state of arrested development because they mostly get famous in the late teens/early 20s and in many ways remain there, mentally. (Not knocking it really. Frankly I kinda admire it. It's just how it is.)
Back then in the 70's when the nightmare album was released I just felt it wasnt as good. I saw the show at maple leaf gardens and it was a spectacle. Sad ... my favourite band as a kid - Easy Action >>>> Muscle of Love ... Pretties For You was ok for a kid but the rest I just loved '72 - '75 , 9 - 12 years old , a smart kid with 3 older brothers as cool as it gets . After the Alice Cooper Group my next big musical love was The Stranglers , mind you before the greatness of that '77 Punk Era , Alex Harvey I have to say was another massive favourite along side Alice & when they covered School's Out I was sure they were speaking to me !! Haha
I LIKED HARVEY'S VERSION OF "CRAZY HORSES" , TOO.....But , I believe people like The Stranglers , The Damned , and The Pistols were influenced by Alice Cooper , in different ways . Lydon has confessed his admiration for Alice many times.
They were a great band - but Alice had to end it when he did. Let's not forget, Buxton couldn't play on all of Billion Dollar Babies, and hardly any of Muscle of Love. He was too far down the rabbit hole of drug addiction. The band was diseased at that point. Wagner had to play Buxton's parts live, and for many people Muscle of Love was a huge step down from BDB (personally I really like MOL, though). Basically, as good as the original band was, it was dysfunctional in the end.
BDB was the beginning of the end. Love It To Death Killer School’s Out Those are the best. I do like MOL better than BDB. Michael’s Hard Hearted Alice is a great and beautiful song. Muscle Of Love is a great song.
The reason it's not Gene Simmons is because he actually took of himself. So how about instead of wishing death on someone else, you instead wish Buxton had taken better care of himself so he could still be here, ok? Besides if you wanna wish death on someone, wish it on Elton John, Billie Joel, Styx, blah blah blah.
WHEN THEY HAVE THESE TOP ONE HUNDRED GREATEST GUITAR PLAYERS HIS NAME SHOULD BE IN THE TOP 10 THANKS GLEN FOR THE MUSIC RIP!!
This guy's playing on "Fields of Regret" is nothing short of brilliant.

Australian fan.
No more Mr. nice guy. RIP. The whole AC thing is so unlikely. A happy accident for history.

Oh man! The whole video! I have never seen this! I uploaded it a long time ago but removed it (along with all my Alice videos) to avoid copyright issues. So glad you guys uploaded the whole thing.
My hero rest in peace gb
troy
fav album of alice cooper with glen buxton ?
Long live GB
Sad ... my favourite band as a kid - Easy Action >>>> Muscle of Love ...
Buxton,the best
17:27 Is that Donovan's guitar? If so it must have been when the band was recording "BDB". Just a guess. Thanks Glen for all the musical gifts.
I think you're right.
Awesome player, he was taken too fast.....RIP Glen
He did it his way
Something about him reminds me of Mr. Snow Miser. Mr. Ten Below.
sounds a little like Keith. A little like Walch
👍🇺🇲❤RIP.....GB
Glen comes across in this interview as a slightly more coherent Keith Richards.
Thanks for this!
Dig the Exotic Ones poster he has!
So did Glen, I gave that to him.
Rip to my biggest
Guitar inspiration
RIP GB
Dammit, Glen. Who said you could go? RIP.
Miss Ya Glen.
a rare gem,,sad how alice threw them aside.
@@MaterLacrymarum Yes, MOL was a fine album! Every song is worthy.
BDB was the beginning of the end.
Love It To Death
Killer
School’s Out
Those are the best.
I do like MOL better than BDB.
Michael’s Hard Hearted Alice is a great and beautiful song.
Muscle Of Love is a great song.
Ringo Langley AKA The Lone Gunmen incorporated Glen Buxton way of life
1,30 AT THE BEGINNING
WHO IS THE GUITAR SINGER WHO SUPPORTS GEN BUXTON AND WHAT IS THE TITLE OF THE SONG (please)
I wonder what happened to those tapes! 22:30
Was wondering the same thing? Wasn’t there also Buxton-Flynn band?
He pointed to Christ' picture in the beginning, I hope to see him in heaven
I know... that was really awesome 🙏🏼
No Glen no Randy Rhoads good vocalist too
I wish I could meet him so bad but I know i have to wait until I also leave this place... I wish it was gene Simmons instead...
Fuckin' A
The reason it's not Gene Simmons is because he actually took of himself. So how about instead of wishing death on someone else, you instead wish Buxton had taken better care of himself so he could still be here, ok?
Besides if you wanna wish death on someone, wish it on Elton John, Billie Joel, Styx, blah blah blah.
I was a teenager when I made that comment, I promise I’m not that dumb anymore lol
The PRODUCERS POSSIBLY MIGHT GET MESSED UP IF THEY SAY "JUST TESTING AGAIN"
