Saw them in Birmingham, AL in '73 when I was 13-years old. Only the second real rock concert I'd ever seen and so different and exciting I will never forget it. Looking back, I'd have to agree with Chris Wright that this band was Alice Cooper and it was never the same after they split. Billion Dollar Babies was the last Cooper album I ever bought and I have to say Alice hasn't done anything that compares since...and, I attribute this to the band breaking up. Man, if they could have stayed together for the long-haul I have no doubt they would have made additional great albums after BDBs.

@@jacksaintjack2844 What's funny, was that I saw Dick Wagner's Band " Ursa Major" in 1972... a three piece band, they were one of the back-up bands for Alice Cooper on the School's Out tour. their first album came out... the day after the show. what most people didn't know at the time... Wagner had already been featured on the band's fifth studio album School's Out (1972), notably for playing the memorable guitar solo on the track "My Stars". Wagner continued to play lead guitar (sometimes uncredited) on every Alice Cooper band album that followed, through the break-up of the original group.

Grew up in clarion, Iowa and had the pleasure of knowing Glen. During highschool I worked at coast to coast, a hardware store. Glen was a regular he just would come in and hangout. During the holidays, he would come in every Saturday sit in the window front and play Christmas music. Glen always had some crazy story to tell and one hell of nice guy.

I actually have an original, Bootleg of Live at the Hollywood Bowl. I bought it at the Orange County Swapmeet (held, every weekend at a local Drive-in movie lot) in Santa Ana, California, back in 1974. I was 17 ( almost 18) at the time. Absolutely fabulous album, a two record set. Dennis is correct, Glen was definitely in the Zone for that concert... the whole band was. That was the infamous concert where they dropped thousands of the paper panties ( Schools Out promotion) from a helicopter.... and the crowd went wild! My goodness, the memories that just came back to me, I really miss those days...

So I didn't hear the early stuff til years, alot of years later when I was getting to Alice right around the time I was eleven years old. But, it didn't take me long to notice the distinct difference between ac band, and ac solo. Even though I like alice's later stuff, I still think the original band was the best.

Loved the older Alice albums. Bought Love it Death with my first allowance after cutting the lawn in Phoenix. Billion Dollar Babies and Schools Out were epic too. Things have changed dramatically over the years, now living in northern Ontario, thank goodness.

My older brother had seen them in the killer tour.he showed me the program he bought. He had the love it to death and killer album. I was hooked. A few months later schools out was on the radio. I love it. A few months later. I was watching t.v and this commercial said tonight Alice Cooper on in concert. It was great! Not longer after billion dollar babies came out. I loved it. At the end of the year they played this new place called capital centre in Maryland. I bought 3 tickets. It was money from my paper route. $3.50 A piece. It was great! The opening band was called zz top.I still love this band.

At this very moment, I am eating dinner in this restaurant and the people working at Pizza Ranch in Clarion, Iowa have no idea who Alice Cooper is or that this momentous event happened in their restaurant.

@@SilentMansPhysMedia You can't miss it, it's just south of the main stop light (only 3 in town, lol. Turn south at 2nd one), on the main street there where the businesses are. On the right hand side as you're going south, second business. My friend Willis Soesbe owned Little Willie's bar, just a lil further south from Pizza Ranch, where Wild Childhood played in 1998 at the tribute to Glen. There's a video of that on another page.

I was a child in the 70’s and I remember my Dad played Alice Cooper albums as we ran from the police cause my Dad had escaped from prison in 1974 and was on the run. In 76 he came through the state I was in and at just 8 years old I was on the run with my Dad who now had a new lady a baby and another on the way. We live in Australia so once you crossed from one state to another in those days without computers the police had no clue so my Dad drove stolen cars and we just went on a wild ride. When my sister was born he decided to give himself up cause life on the run with a wife and 3 kids was pretty hard. Alice Cooper was part of the soundtrack of our lives.

The original Alice Cooper Band were as influential as Sabbath. They belonged to that generation of bad ass gi tar players reinventing the catalogue of Rock, but stil keeping a fat Jazz swing in their playing. I recently learned the group once shared a house with Pink Floyd (Syd Barret era) and I found that to be a really spicy detail!
We love the Alice Cooper Band 'till death takes us apart.

Thy battles with lifes Demons won. Rest Easy G.B. Rst Free. ✌ frame Alice's Neighbor in Utah. Nice tribute to a great animated guitarist.

Omg, I remember him and me talking about pussy willows, when he was in the hospital, because I love those! I remember him talking about having a tree at his farm, & I lived on my family farm then and had one in my front yard to the south east of my house. I was a Registered nurse at the Community Memorial Hospital in Clarion and took care of him at times that he was a patient there. I had to work the day of his funeral, but they let us go up for the open casket before the services and I'd gone to his visitation. He was a really great guy, so nice, and he did give up a few of the stories of when he was in the band, and I'm recognizing some of what a couple of the other band members have said here in their funny stories they're telling.
