Maestro Bohm, one of the major Mozartians. He'd brought light and fresh air into every note. Everything is so sparkly, bright, even and smooth but not superficially. This is elegance at its best, just as what this serenade was written for. It may be just a small work by Mozart's standard. But it is surely a miniature masterpiece and well deserved to be so well celebrated around the world
Karl Bohm and the Vienna Philharmonic - it doesn't get much better than this! Bohm was one of the finest interpreters of Mozart's music - having recorded all the symphonies with the Berlin Philharmonic later in his career. His tempos are never rushed and full of Viennese grace. Mozart's music is too beautiful to play quickly and Bohm gets it just right - especially after repeated hearings. What a delight!

The video shows how Boehm conducts, so well rooted one can almost see the roots going from his torso through his legs into the floor to the centre of the Earth. Such tiny gestures which communicate everything, relaxed arms and hands--wonderful conducting from one of the greats of the 20th century. The interpretative work is always done at rehearsals. One also sees this male dominated orchestra... and realizes how far we have come thanks to Anna Sophie Mutter and all the many who have devoted themselves and especially those who opened the doors for female musicians-- and those keeping them open.
