These cars are slept on and no one knows about them in North America, I sold my beloved E90 N54 and got a E90 M57 with extremely rare Active Cruise control, torque and sound of smooth I6 bmw Diesel is just something else, always attracts people at car meets bc of how rare 335d are in here.
bought my 335d back in september montego blue with 60k miles for 13k. Did all the deletes in january, did harmonic balancer and clutched alternator pulley just last weekend, running a stage 2.5 tune 36mpg ROCKET.
Amazing cars. Have the 330d Xdrive manual e91 here in europe. All deletes done & stage 2 tune, same exact engine only single turbo. Amazing the torque.. Even on stock turbo lol
Yeah, they're super popular in Europe right? They only had like 8-9,000 units sold here in the US (335d)...I don't think it sold well tbh and they stopped pushing BMW diesels here.
Great video. I have an e91 330d single turbo with manual gearbox, rear wheel drive with a downpipe, racepipe, intercooler and remap. The car is totally different from what it was stock and is ton of fun. Its currently pushing 300hp. I did a rolling race with a friend of mine who owns an infiniti q50 3.7 (the Z engine) which i think is 330hp. The bmw took 3 out of 3 races by 2 cars length and it was increasing.
These things are the best. I own an E92 335D from 2011 which, back in the day, was a show room piece, therefore it has literally every box checked except the towing hook, which I think was mutually exclusive with the M aerodynamics package. Has a lot of BMW Individual parts too like the maximum stereo (not harman kardon or logic7. there is one more tier which is the individual) or black wood trim. no changes except for K&W V3 lowering springs and dampers and front and rear lip spoilers. I have driven older and newer generations of the 3 series but the E9x platform is the best of both worlds. nice old school-ish handling like the old ones and enough new tech like the new ones have without their respective drawbacks, like the disconnected feel of the F series and onward or the rust issues of the E46 and older. also, the 335D never had an xdrive option. RWD like it was meant to be. best car series ever. had an E90 325D from 2011 before that which also got to ~200.000km until someone decided to dump his literal house on it while turning at the crossroad. the rear wheel speed sensors tend to die quite regularly though. like one every 2 years which has a bit to do with driving in bad weather/winter conditions. but that is a fix you can do yourself for about 30€.
you can get it deleted for way less than 3 grand. got mine for around ~800usd alltogether at a shop. although we don't have the DEF on these in European models. EGR valve can be closed with software and you can easily empty the dpf yourself if you want to and just pay for a tune. I also had the lovely experience of having the damper go out at 350,000km (220,000 miles) I don't know if it was the original one though. smelled pretty nasty
100 lbft from just deleting the cat and dpf? Err definitely not, or was you including a remap with that figure? Anyway, you don't need to delete those to get an extra 100lbft of torque, my 330d has them and had just over an extra 100 with the cat and dpf on its original remap, no need to make them dirty 😛 (not saying it won't give you a little extra power though). Btw, don't you guys have mandatory yearly smoke/soot test for diesels?? We do here in the UK. I was going to say you didn't mention the N57s timing chain issue, but I'm pretty sure the 335d uses the older M57 lump? Good video anyway 👍

Thanks, appreciate the comment. I love these cars, I wish in the US we could get the coupe.
Bought a 2011 335d in September and I love it way more than I ever did with my 335i only thing missing is that manual transmission
I feel that!
Remember at 100k miles you want to do a complete fluid change such as transmission and power steering etc.
Yeah, most definitely. Pretty common maintenance 🤙
