What is the most reliable BMW you can buy?

- So BMW's aren't exactly known for being crazy reliable or cheap to run, but if you know what to look for you can get a really fun really cheap and most importantly really reliable BMW.
#Reliable #n52 #BMW
"After driving a BMW you will not want to drive anything else". You are totally right. I did a "test drive" in my friend's BMW 320d 135kW and I don't want anything else unless it's BMW :D
That’s exactly why im here. I got a 2000 328i with 250k but she is super duper clean and runs great. It was a one or two owner always maintained.
I got my old job back at fedex and can afford a payment but want to be reliable and was gonna get a 330i but the reliability is so much better. This year is second rated in reliability.
Ive had my car for two weeks it is not my first car and i want nothing else unless its a classic jdm or muscle. My daily will always be a bmw. 🤦♂️I fell in love.
I've owned 2 BMW's. A brand new E30 325i, and a E34 535i Sport. The rear gas shockers of the 325i collapsed within weeks of my taking ownership. Lovely engine, but aside from that, I rapidly concluded that the rest of the car was really quite ordinary. The 535i was fast and powerful, but I never really 'bonded' with it, so to speak. The car seemed somehow soulless, and it always felt like a big car. In the end, I really prefer Jaguar XJ's. Bit more subtlety about them.

I think these early BMW E90s are an absolute masterpiece, it will probably go down in history as one of the best BMWs ever built…I mean the ones with the small oval wing mirrors and the narrow sober taillights are simply gorgeous...Of all the 3 series, the design of the E90 is, in my opinion, the one that comes closest to perfection in terms of elegance, sobriety and character...Almost 20 years after its release, it is still a beautiful car with a very current design, really stunning...!
true
I agree
Nothing will outlast a properly tuned and deleted M57 motor....
320D yes. Old skool german,
Your 100000000% right
N52 last longer than any other
@@antoniopacis40 diesel VS gasoline. No comparison.
Old Ford 6cyl truck engines are litteraly indestructible, even after they've been sitting in a field for 40yrs.
I have a 2011 328i n52 180500k runs strong repeat strong. Still have the stock water pump. I diy all the matenice ready to put water pump on at any time, just want to see how long it'll last. I have free towing on my insurance. Awesome car!!!!!
2011 328xi n52 in the lovely rust belt of Ontario daily driven with 250,0591 km stock water pump and thermostat and no issues and still runs strong. Your car has lots of life left bud
I just got 2008 E60 LCI 530xd and I just love M57 engine!
Hows the fuel consume and how much are u spending on that car to maintain it
E90 m47 engine enough said.
My m47 320d is on 187.354 miles never missed a heart beat its bullet proof and it's well maintained
Am just replacing all suspension and all bushes and subframe all powercoated and new back springs perches eibach 20mm drop springs and propshaft doughnuts and prop bearing new hubs front and back new wheel bearings just going to replace nearly everything handbrake cables new dust shields it will be like it came out the factory last another 20 years
i have a friend who did about 670 000km (thats about 416 000 miles!!) in his eurospec 3.2 e36 m3 with the s50b32 with the six speed. he drove it as a daliy for over 20 years and sold it because it was to rusty to go thru inspection here in switzerland. he didnt open the engine once exept for valve clearance every 80 000 and 2x the vanos in the whole time. only oil changes where nesseary and some gasket replacements. thats what i call a great engine!
I learned to drive on my fathers bmw E36 318i M43B18, the I buyed a E46 320d 110kw M47N because I was driving 1100km for work every month... It was the best first car which I could chose in my life. I have learned a lot about cars in these times and mostly about the motor M47N and actually M47 in general... Then I buyed a E90 330d 170kw with the M57N2 motor! And I cant be happier because its the same like the M47, just with 2 cylinders more xDD and with just with a little difference of eating diesel 0.2-0.4 liters for 100km... so yes I love bmw, they are not all hard to maintain and mostly, if you buy a one with the good motor, you wont pay thousands of euros or dollars for repairing it
The n52 in my 128i runs great with over 150k on the clock. It has mostly been very reliable, easy to work on and always a blast to drive.
Was any serious work needed? anything that's not DIYable?
@@Sam.Angel.330 - Fluids, filters, 2 sets of tires, 1 set of brakes plus 1 set of plugs, coils, vanos, valve gasket and a couple of small items are about it. Great motor!
@@AB-jk7tw So it never left you stranded?

I hope you're having/had a good time with it, make every moment count
utter shit 😂
The electric waterpump usually goes right before the 200,000km mark. This leaves you stranded.
The ccc (stereo unit) can go at the same time can be fixed by someone who knows how to work with chip cards.
Dont forget to change fluids. Awesome cars.
The s52 also seems to last forever. E36 m3. I have 150k miles on mine. Hoping to get at least another 200k out of it
How it's going?
@Waleed-abdullah bought an audi r8 so I barely drive it anymore.
Why no mention of the E90 330D, great motor reliable and fast with the smooth six cylinder. ive had mine for 11 years now . best car ive ever had.
Love my '11 328i 6MT
These days are over since the 2021 and foward models all bmw vehicles are in the top 5 for reliability what a time to be a beamer guy 😎🔥 im getting the 23 330i
The pre LCI E90 has really grown on me! At first I thought they were uglier than the facelifte model, but now i like them more and they look awesome 👌
Best BMW in my view is the 128i - amazingly reliable and fun n52 engine, superb handling and still fun after 200km.
still think that a year later ?
@@papineau4518 Still runs very well and in my view, the n52 engine and e88 chassis are one of the most reliable models built.
@@AB-jk7tw i'm about to buy a 128i sport 2013 with 132000 km for 11 000$CAD what do you think
@@papineau4518 Nice - just be sure you check / document the service history. Without regular service, any BMW can be very costly as you know, especially a 10+year old car.
I have a pre lci e90 with 240k kms on the clock, at the moment I gotta service it (every 10k), put a new xenon headlight, a new alternator in and new front disks and pads but its worth it, I love the hydraulic steering and I want to make it 300+k kms.
I have a n52 that has 80 on the clock.
I hope it restores my sanity after having to deal with a rusting piece of shit e46 325. Cost me almost 3000 to repair things that all came up within one month.
2007 328i 101k from 52k miles to now all i had to do was vc gasket oilfilter housing gasket
now finally have to do suspension very fun reliable not fast but fun

I have E60 530i msport done basic upgrades 285bhp 400nm drives amazing you wauld need a really expensive sports car to math it let alone beat it

B58 is king!
Does anybody know the newest model that still uses a non turbo V6? Lookin for Either 2 series or 3
If you want reliable, get an old 1.9 TDI.
If you want a "reliable" BMW and you have cash to burn, at least get something with the M57 Motor... the engine will last.
B58 is the best engine BMW has
What about the 323i?
I might be mistaken but this is an south african accent🤔
Yes it is😂
@@ChrisVSCars just subscribed, do you got a Instagram account I can follow as well?

Just buy 3 bmw in case the other 2 won’t work you buy bmw not for their reliability.
I just got a 328i 2011 but it has the N51 I thought it had the N52 but no, is it bad compared with the N52?
The N51 is the SULEV version with added emissions control equipment and lower compression, but it has the 3-stage manifold from the 3L N52 and should give out about 230HP. Not much worse.
Should i get a 330d e93 N57? Are they reliable?
wondering the exact same thing
Yes
No😊
Sounds like a saffa this guy does
I have an N54 2010 535i with 60K miles. Sweet, but an expensive oil pan gasket is due.

is the 320i good?
Very heavy on fuel. Quite troublesome. Rather buy the 320d.
Going by the wrong standards
Nice.
just get a lexis 2:00

The bmw that has a toyota badge. No german car is reliable. Everybody that knows about cars knows this. If you dont know then you know nothing of cars
Looking at getting F20 118i Msport ? Any common problem you know of ?
As far as i know they are awesome cars, that are good on fuel and have enough power, but if the turbo goes its expensive😅

Hahaha😂😂 sounds like a plan
@@ChrisVSCars , I am interested in buying a e90 like a 06-08 328 or 330i manual. My question is , is it ok to be able to buy one of these with 130-160k miles on it and it was well maintained ? Or even 170k miles on it ?
@@Mrsilva94 absolutely…. This engine will last 400-500k miles with minimal maintenance
I've read in several places the e92 is one of the most problematic BMWs to own (also my favourite looking BMW in more recent years), so who is right?
yes the n54 engine in the e92 or e90 335i is one of the most problematic and least reliable engines bmw made
Depends
I own a E92 325xi with 161k kilometres. It’s a very reliable car that did handle 100k of continuous madness by me and the last owner, everything being stock.
I’ve changed the vanos solenoids, all coils and plugs, waterpump and thermostat at 155k and all I can say is that car’s just unbreakable/bulletproof. I do have many electrical issues every now and then as the car’s been made in 07’ and they started failing but nothing too crazy(seat heaters not working, mirror heating not working, belt pushers if that’s how you call them not working properly). It might also be due to the fact that the car was 72.000$ in 2007 so it’s obviously full of options.
Again, apart from electrical issues this car has never dissapointed me. It’s realiable, easy to fix and does pull good enough for its age, I’m definitely not going to sell it for another 5 years and I’m pretty sure I won’t be selling it afterwards either due to the fact it’s the first car that pleased me in all aspects. Probably an acid dipping, repainting and I’ll throw it in a garage and drive it over Sundays.
Baie lekker
The problem with buying used German cars is like playing Russian roulette.
I've got a pre lci 325i. The previous owner seems to have hated the poor thing and neglected it until I bought it from him for dirt cheap, after a lot of maintenance and restoration, it's been fun to drive, yet comfy if I want to take it easy, and pretty reliable. Not a short list of maintenance/restoration tho

The more plastic you have near the engine, the more it melts.

True about having driven a BMW. It's an experience unique to BMW.

I’ve had an E90 318i with the N43 engine and even though the car was pretty slow, it drove very very well! Now after six years of owning an 318i, i got an 330i with N52 and i love this car! The car is not economical, uses a lot more fuel than my 318i but the 330i is so much more fun to drive!
How are the new B48 engines? Any advices?
