  • Building Hong Kong's 1/32 Dornier 335 B-2 Destroyer. A very nicely detailed kit that goes together without too much fuss. I may add something different to the final paint job, or maybe not.

    Cool kit, that is one funky Germainain bird. Pusher puller prop job. Reminds me of the Cessna Skymaster. Keep on keeping on, in this classic Gregs kit!

    Looks like a nice kit, apart from the issues with releasing the parts

    This is going to be my go to fo my Tamyia 1/48 single seater finished as V9 prototype! Yours is the best build on You Tube!!! I wish I'd had the forsight to puchase the aftermarket boarding ladder and bomb bay set as the kit is rather sparce and my references don't show those clearly oh well. Possibly leave the bomb bay closed, we'll see. Hopefully I'll figure how to send you pics when finished. Debating the bare metal for the wheel wells and bomb bay.

    Just started Revell's 1:48 of this plane. The guy at the hobby shop warned me it wasn't good and so far he's been right on the money, but I like the aircraft itself too much to let that deter me. This one might be the first model that I paint, in which case wish me luck! Wouldn't have near the precision of yours, but you'd be the inspiration.

    Your detailed paint work is outstanding my friend! I don’t always take my time with things like I should so when I built this kit about a year ago...I rushed a little and had problems lining up the exhaust pipes with the openings. If you haven’t gotten to that point in the build, they are very fiddly to try to get lined up and straight.

      Thanks for the heads-up. The fuselage is looking like it could throw up a few problems as well, not looking forward to that. I'll take a look at your video builds on this kit 👍

    Most late war German aircraft were left natural metal and if sprayed doe lightly with the under surface colors mixed color assemblys one black strut on natual or RLM02 etc. Those sprus suck. As usual fantastic work.

    Very well executed video on an interesting subject. I built a 1/32 Zoukei mura do 335 and checking references from archive photos the middle bulk head was made of plywood, and painted as so, plain wood effect. Anyway enjoying your build very much.

      Thanks for that. I didnt know about the middle bulk head. I used that B/W photo of the trainer Do 335 A-12 in the hanger with the American looking up at it.

    Hi Greg, can you advise: If one intends to make detailing such as an avionics bay, but you only have partial or fairly poor reference, is it a matter of using a bit of artistic licence as to how you think it looks/is arranged ?. thanks for any advice

    • @GregsModels
      @GregsModels  4 роки тому +1

      Decent reference is one of the biggest issues that face modellers. You buy a model you have to buy a book on the subject; larger models especially. However sometimes decent reference just isn’t available. If you have no detail on an area of of an aircraft my recommendation would be to cross reference with similar subjects of that period. If all else fails then, as you say, use artist licence! You’ll always find someone who’ll pick out issues with a model, for some it’s their sole purpose in life. But personally, at my age I don’t care anymore! It’s all about creating something visually pleasing for myself … and hopefully others but not the end of the world if not.
