- I want to thank everyone I met at Telford, on Saturday, old faces and new ones, it was a great day out for me, talking models.
I could have spent a small fortune but I was a very good boy with the money my wife let me spend.
It was only on Sunday on the way back home via Chippenham and then Dorking then back to Portsmouth that I wished I'd have got the other models I wanted, I never learn. It's still hurting now.
The colours used on this build by brush are all Vallejo Model Colors:-
70.874 Tan Earth
70.890 Refractive Green
70.975 Military Green
70.995 German Grey
70.827 Lime Green - Навчання та стиль
Hurray for Greg not doing the 1/48 Airfix Sea King 😂
From what I can see here, that's the best hand brushed paint job I have ever seen! Well done mate!
Very nice corrections and scratchbuilding. I like that old schoold paintwork too.
Cracking job as usual Greg, love the old school hairy stick approach for a change.
Cheers Jason👍
With or without an airbrush, your models always look fine to me !!!
Thank you👍
Are you kiddin' me??!! Wow! Viewers take note, this a lesson in artistry. Greg, thank you for elevating our hobby, sharining your work and producing such enjoyable videos.
I've been missing your videos my friend... stunning build... love your work! Cheers from Argentina...
I miss hand painting models. Nice build Greg.
I've always been afraid of brush painting, but damn if you don't make it look easy! I believe what I lack is the patience to push through multiple thin coats. Really excellent work on a bugger of a kit!
Nicely done Greg nice to see some old school painting and done very well I'm looking forward to your next vid cheers 👍
Very nice build Greg, a bit heart in mouth at the first coat but it turned out superb and it's great to hear you had time for a bit of fingering ,as usual outstanding modelling and always with a grin. Thank you.
Nice build Greg. Back to basics with the brush painting, but a great result. Remember building this in the 80s as twenty something year old along with Italeri's C130 gunship. Thought the same about the black plastic too.
Another cracking build Greg. I built the old Airfix AC 47 last year for a magazine article using only materials available to me in 1974 when I first built one. Hence, for me, no airbrushing just old fashioned and wonderfully cathartic brush painting.
It was terrific seeing the AC 117 here and I’m now going to have get one of these now and follow the same route you have. Keep it up mate; I love the channel. Les
It’s always a good day when you post a new video Greg! Excellent work as usual.
Cheers and thanks, hope you're well👍😎
My first pleasure this morning: my coffee, and the second : watching your new video... wow!!! You are an artist, this build is simply amazing. Cheers from France, Stéphane.
A pleasure👍😎
Greg, I’d watch you paint a model with mop, you are a master of the hobby.
That's for the next build 😂
Ànother fantastic build to make us all green with envy. If I just saw a picture, I would have thought it had been sprayed . Remember Greg, this is how we used to paint our models before we discovered spay cans and airbrushes. Looking forward to your next build.
Another FANTASTIC build! Your videos are some of the few that I have the patience to watch, more importantly enjoy! Unbelievable results using brushes, who would have thought, back to basic building
Lovely example of 'old school' modelling, Greg. I would be happy if my airbrushing was as good as this brush painting!
I was lucky, it could have go pear shaped big time.
Your dry brushing is better than my airbrushing! great build (as always). Thanks for posting and building this kit.
Anytime👍😎
Well that explains where you have been. Lots of work here and well worth it. Spectacular result as always. I love what you do with these older kits.
Beautiful job Greg,congrats 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Your modeling level is super impressive, so much attention to details! The kit turned out amazing.
You did an outstanding job on this model. The C-119 family has always been my favorite.
I’m amazed by your hand painting! Looks like it was airbrushed!
Darn... you can literally feel the steamy jungle and the smell of kerosene and exhaust looking at that fantastic build. Thanks.
When it comes to modern model making, people are way to picky and critical, every one has their own skill set and expectations , some people have given up the hobby because of all the bollocks, do what makes you happy and to hell with the rivet counters, get a life. Great video Greg as usual, cheers.
Stunning build once again Greg
Excellent result, as usual! You are right, the slight "blotchiness" of the hand painted finish gives her much character, very well done.
Allways a pleasure to watch your builds and vast variety of techniques!
i’ve never clicked on a notification so fast
Its the end product which matters, just first class. Very realistic indeed ready for duty.
As a mainly tank modeller I'm just nearing the end of my second aircraft, and I have a new found respect for aircraft model channels. You make it look much easier than it is. Cockpit glazing, masking so that the paint doesn't run down panel lines and trying to make everything so smooth after filling are skills I am having to learn through trial and error. a great build and compared to my Airfix Bf109 that thing is a beast. Great job.
True!
The finished kit is a work of art you have the patience of a saint I'm very impressed by the brush work, regards
Sean
Superb build! One of my favourites of yours 😁 I always enjoy your down to Earth videos, and I often find that the techniques you use work well with my style of modelling. Cheers for all the great content 👍
Beautiful paint work! Excellent decision to paint by hand! 👍
It' s enjoyable watching your videos
One of my favorite aircraft! Thank you for sharing and doing such a terrific job on the ol’ flying boxcar!
I love the German grey idea. I always thought matt black looks too pure. Top build!
Apart from the excellence of your builds,I like that you challenge yourself, in order to keep the experience fresh for you and the viewer.Well done.
I built that kit back in the late 1980's, it took me five years to finish. You have done a great job.
This is insane amount of work. Thank you for sharing!
FANTASTIC build as usual!
What a BEAUTIFUL job you’ve done! 👍
Thank you for your videos! 🙂
Yet Another Great Build. Thanks
Super job- again!
This is a great kit, had one 20+ years ago
Another great build Greg, thanks for doing what you do👏
Excellent build and brilliant brushwork 👍
Excellent finish Greg.
So many techniques there that I either never knew or had forgotten.
I’ll have to get back into handbrushing now that I’m inspired by the puns!!
Ian
👍😎
Perfect build 🔥🔥🔥
Fantastic build
A mean machine!! Looks fantastic!!!
Looks Fantastic, well done sir.
Absolutely badass! 👍🏻👍🏻
Wow! That looks stunning! Fantastic build and amazing hand painting skills.
Simply amazing! Hand-brushed plus all the corrections. Well done!
Great looking model.
between you and nigel i allways learn so much.
Cracking build. The paint work looks belting. 👌🏻
Great modeling, interesting subject/aircraft, and does look good as a space ship!! Thanks again! 👍
Great effort 🎉nice build
Nice..great job hand brushing the Model Color..very fragile but with a clear coat it ain't going anywhere i find
Bloody brilliant Greg. Love the brush technique.
a really nice result Greg
Love how you tackle your models, nonwonder your skills are so good when you constantly challenge yourself. I can't wait for the next one.
Well done! I've loved the look of the C-119 since I was a kid. Nice to see one so well modeled.
Very nice Greg, you have made a brilliant job there well done.
Always great fun, and great results. I could stand longer vids.
Wonderful work Greg and a great lesson in hand painting 👌👍
your just an amazing modeller and i look forward to your posts mate. fantastic
Very Very nice buil! Excellent hand painted job!
Magnificent build, Greg 👍
Cheers👍
This is just amazing. Your skills are incredible.
Thank you so much👍
Hard to believe this was brush painted. Fabulous work!
Nice Work Greg, looks pretty good. I cant believe you paint it with brush. Very cool. 👍
Love your channel, Greg! Happy Thanksgiving!
Thank you👍
Good to see you back, hope you enjoyed Telford. I think it is good to get back to 'Basics' every so often when painting this brought back memories of my early years of modelling when I brush painted everything (with the occasional use of a spray can) and I got pretty good at it. I enjoyed watching the build and the modifications made; good job. Can't wait for the next one.
Thank you😎
Very nice Greg!
I like black plastic, it shows defects better, and it's conducive to black basing technique. Although obviously depends on the colour scheme you're planning to apply.
When I saw the molds stacked up there, I knew this channel was worth subscribing to ;)
Superb effort Greg, enjoyed your build very much especially the brush painting and sense of British humour 'knock ya self out ' loved it 👏
Great build Greg the paint job worked I remember hand painting 1/24 spitfire & hurricane cos wasn't happy with airbrushing as you say practice still hand paint enamel s as you said 1/48 scale would be big old bird thoroughly enjoyed it many thanks jon
Great work 👍 respect from Indonesia 🇮🇩
I was gifted this kit by my father who worked on this plane in Vietnam. This video is bittersweet as I'm excited to get working on the kit, but I'll never be able to match the artistry here. Part of me doesn't dare open that box. Gorgeous build.
Don't let anyone put you of. Build it for yourself👍
I too model as a therapy, well done on this one, nothing wrong with brush painting. We old ones didn't have fancy air brushes when we were kids.
Superb outcome as you ever do, even paint brushing you nail it. Congratulations!
Thank you! Cheers!
Another excellent video. Nice finish only using brushes and Vallejo acrylics.
*A very interesting build, your paint with hand brush is wonderful! Excellent video, with a rare subject.*
Cheers 😎
As usual, supreme technique, and a spectacular way of modelling construction. With all my respect, Gregg you are my favorite "Modelling Gurú". Thank you very much.
Thank you👍
Lovely build, Greg. Go the wave for a starter!!
Congratulations!!!! 🍷🍷 Made in Brazil!!! Big hug....
👍😎
Excellent work! I like the way you paint acrylic with brush. I use my airbrush mostly with acrylic but also paint enamel with brush and sometimes just using a spray can. Mixing techniques produces very good results. Thanks for sharing the video and your tips.
Thank you for your work very inspiring!!! Stunning result! I use to Do My Aircraft With brush Aswell modeling was much more Relaxing Back then. Now With The Air Rush😅 I need to mask, to clean , to fix messes...ouf!
Nice to see the use of paintbrush in action for a change, especially on such a large kit...Nicely finished AC-119 though...👍🏼
Thank you very much!
Your brush work is great. I've put my airbrush away because my hobby room is now the back of my cargo van when I'm on the road.
Yes very Razor Crest ! Good job Greg , love the seas camo ! The aircraft has a great shape , the tailbooms always remind me of AW Argosy ! ( which my dad worked on .)
Yes it does👍
Great work! Intresting choice going paintbrush, you nailed it! 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Better than I could do with an airbrush. VG!
She turned out nice! I've done a few hand brushed kits, and it is kinda fun! 👍
Hi Greg. Paintbrush finish looks great. I’m always impressed by your modifications.
👍😎
AMAZINGNES!!!
Again very well done Greg. I'm always impressed about the Results you get out of this vintage kits, without using any After Market Products.
A joyfull Video, thanks !!!
It's only because I'm tight with money😂
Amazing build, Greg. The result was very nice model. You always surprise me positively with your montage
I'd like to help you with the brush. In my experience, it would help a lot if you used a brush with long, thin bristles. I use this type of brush a lot when I need to do contours. With them we can shake a lot, but the track is not lost. They are also used to draw letters, as they do not go outside the outline.
Today I learned another tip from you. Wash with water and detergent... breaking the surface tension and making the acrylic paint slide better in the corners.
Thank you very much for sharing your experiences.
Thank you👍
It looks very nice :-)
