    notes from the video:
    1. a daily routine shouldn't be your main focus
    - should focus on weekly habits as they're more dynamic
    - divide your year into chunks and focus on specific projects in specific chunks
    2. productivity systems are supposed to change often
    - if our life situation changes, productivity systems can change too
    - ask yourself why you're switching your productivity system
    3. working more hours actually decreases productivity
eg. the 4 day workweek is better than the 5 day workweek
    - try compressing your tasks into less time (it will create a sense of urgency, you will learn how to delegate etc.)
    - try a compression experiment - work 1h or 0.5h less every day for a week
    4. most productivity techniques don't take neurodiversity into account
eg. pomodoro technique is very rigid
    - don't be afraid to change up things
    5. taking longer breaks should be the rule and not the exception
mariana's strategy: 15min break for 45min work, 30min break for 2h work, 1h break for the workday
    6. complexity is your enemy
    - overcomplicating systems, trying out shiny new things is not good
    - you only need a calendar and a knowledge base
    7. manipulating your brain can work wonders
    - motivation will fade; but you can manipulate your brain to not procrastinate
eg. hiding your phone, having your water bottle nearby (gamifying your life)
    8. enjoyment is at the core of all the things you do in life
    - responsible for more than 60% of the quality of your work
    - break the taboo of "enjoyment = laziness"
    9. your "new year" can start in a different month
    - jan 1 is usually the worst day to start a habit (it's cold, right after the holidays, etc.)
    - create your own deadlines & adapt!
    10. productivity is cyclical
    - planning feels good, actually working is harder and your motivation will start to fade, and then we start rebuilding our motivation bit by bit
    - accept your stage in the cycle

Being consistently productive can be difficult if you solely rely on motivation so I love that you give tips that don’t involve just being motivated. I’ll definitely give them a try ☺️💜

“99% of the harm is caused in your head, by you and your thoughts.
1% of the harm is caused by reality, what actually happens and the outcome.
Most of the time, the problem isn’t the problem. The way you think about the problem is.”

Superb video Mariana! As a person recently diagnosed with ADHD (I'm 37!), many of these I've learned the hard way...
Everyone should see this, I wonder if you changed the title you'd get more views - and I'd totally grab some of these topics and turn then into their own videos or case studies. 🥰

Obrigado pelas dicas!

I kinda disagree that working more hours decrease productivity. If you are loving the work you can do the work for 24 hours. Each and everything can be made fun. The long working hour dosent work here in med school, we have OPD to attend here, lectures to attend here with compulsary 90% attendance in med school and we are forced to study for long hours because we have to revise the stuff we saw in opd and during lectures. There are some fields where it is excellent but in fields like medicine and engineering it's not suitable at all because we got no choice we have to work for long hours, the more hours we work with passionate mindset, the better outcomes we get. It's only about your mindset and how much fun you are having and trust me if you are having fun or passion towards whatever you are doing, you can work for like 36 hours straight.

    • @mariana-vieira
      @mariana-vieira  2 роки тому

You can work for 36 hours straight, but for how long? I’ve known many people who kept this mindset for a few years and then experienced a breakdown (despite loving their jobs). But every person is different; either way, working for 24 or 36 hours is definitely something I would never recommend anyone, either for their physical or mental health. Since you’re on med school, I’m curious - what’s your opinion from a medical standpoint (not personal experience)?

    • @imposingmedicine1925
      @imposingmedicine1925 2 роки тому +1

@@mariana-vieira actually working for long hours is not healthy for our body I agree with that but living in Asian country with extremely tough competition, the long hours become our daily routine and we become productive. It's actually difficult here in my country, there are 300000 students competing for 10000 seats in residency program and after it for md it is only 3 seats in a hospital, so we adapt to situation to work for long hours continuously because there is always a fear that someone is studying more than us to grab that seat. Studying and working long hours becomes a habit and we can feel productive in it, we are able to maintain our physical health but mental health is extremely detoriated and we can't do anything about it, if we study less we cannot even come close to those people who are there to grab the seats and then the jobs in my country are so less that we got no option but to pursue in the field we are working on. The population is so high that there is 1 doctor for 16000 patients so working long hours is a must for doctors here, resident doctors are forced to work for 128 hours a week, i agree with your points but in my country working and studying long hours becomes a habit and people find ways to make those long hours extremely productive by some life hacks. For other fields I recommend not to work for long hours at all, even in my country the people from other field work for less hours but engineering and medical field people work endlessly.
