Yes, but for a 1/1000 or 1/10000 second precision, you definitely need electronic... The mechanical buttons, levers and hand inertia are far more on the 1/100 second (at very best) precision. Logic gates can work at the nanosecond level.
But outside of that, i'nm definitely prefer a nice Longines, Omega or Tag Heuer mechanical movement (with a classic Swiss anchor incabloc screw balance ruinning at 18000 beats per hour !!!!)

I think Tag Heuer is a shit brand, but I do like their watches that have the in-house movements. There is always something special about them.

Never. I'd rather pay the $100k+ for a mechanical because it is being built buy hand. A quartz watch defeats the purpous for a good watch.

Wow, now I don't like TAG Heuer at all. I didn't know that even the Calibe 1887 was a phony movement.
Either way, I've always said that I'd rather buy an Omega or a Longines (both of which used to be better/more exclusive though) than a Tag Heuer for the same money. If you want a Tag Heuer styled watch (especially if you're planning to buy a quartz piece of shit) you're better off with a Casio Edifice, a Tissot or a Certina.
