  • See more @ www.ablogtoread.... Tag Heuer CEO Mr. Babin shows off the new for 2012 watch concept called the Mikrogirder 2000. It uses a new system developed by Tag Heuer that allows it to measure down to 5/10,000 of a second via its chronograph. The system is very impressive and elegant in this very high precision machine.

A master piece of micro-engineering. Bravo

  • @oorcinus

It's not meant for real-life usage. The error introduced by your reaction time and the time it takes you to hit the start and stop is orders of magnitude greater than 1/1000th of a second anyway. It's a showpiece.

The point of these 'pointless' watches is to showcase the R&D innovation of the company at the cutting edge against their competitors. They are haute couture one-off creations more than anything else and has little to do with how useful they are in a functional everyday sense. It is from these strange beasts that real world innovations spring from whether that be exotic materials, mechanical marvel or some other aspect of timing technology. It is catwalk material but important for the future.

Great watch, but kinda counterproductive. You get such accuracy, but a human thumb has to start and stop it (if you really were to use it for something important that requires that accuracy). Or mount it on a mechanical trigger attached to a laser sensor.

baralah I own 2 Tag Heuers myself, keyboard jarhead. I was trying to make a point. The watch as a mechanical piece has exceptional accuracy, but as a "stopwatch" you lose the whole micro precision because of your thumb reflex. It's not like, say a moon phase, which doesn't require an operator.

There is the loss of all that accuracy with the hand eye coordination. Typical variation by hand-eye is only 0.03” - 0.15”
A watch like that has 2 specs: long duration rate, and resolution.
5/10,000 sec sweep second hand, but the watch is +/- 0.5” per day.

What matters is the innovation and mechanical exception. Accuracy is not important.

No way, Tag is a well made high end watch company. Their patens can fill a book. They designs are modern and innovative. If only Rolex could be more revolutionary with their designs. Id buy 100 one it just looks better spinning then the 1000 or 2000.

Tag Heuer has some serious skills in creating mechanical watches, i just hope that the engineers at Tag Heuer could use their skills to help out developments in the medical field, like mechanical protesis or even delevoping parts for an artificial heart.

Rolex where instrumental in forming the modern "sport" luxury watch market. They created entire lines that these pseudo luxury watch brands now compete for. With Rolex you are buying into a rich pedigree, timeless designs and watches that are built to last. I have a vintage 1970's day date that still runs perfectly and looks great. The watch has also increased about five fold in value making in an excellent investment.

Folks, I honestly couldn't understand most of your comments. The trouble is that you wrote 'censor' when you meant 'sensor'. I'm no grammar nazi, but I do insist on being able to understand you. Using 'alot' when you mean 'a lot' doesn't impede understanding and is no big deal, but using 'censor' when you mean 'sensor' is a problem.

Zenith invented the AUTOMATIC chronograph (or Seiko depending on who you ask). The chronograph itself dates back way before then thou. Tag is a pretty doggy watch brand. Mostly hot air backed by celebrity endorsement. With the exception of a few pieces there is nothing worth talking about this brand. This might change with the purchase of zenith or they might drag this great brand in the gutter with them.

    • @Pulsonar
      @Pulsonar 3 роки тому

They were taken more seriously when it was just Heuer and they had good partnership with Lemania and a decent reputation in automotive sports. This TAG organisation made them into this superficial brand with expensive celebrity endorsements for basically mediocre watches.

They dont use watches to time Race's, it's all done by censors under the car's which at various point's on a track it register's a time upto 1/1000 of sec, so you dont have ppl with watches clocking F1 or any professional racing at all. lol

This watch got some serious problems...Mr. Babin tried to push the button sometimes, but you can see the central hand not in order. At the end, Babin start the chrono again, but it's not move and sure that why he cannot reset.
What my opinion is 1/1000 second is good enough for gimmick, 1/2000 is just too much.

Breitlings are generally poor value purchases. I can recommend far better quality watches with the same look at a better price. For example google breitling navitimer vs. sinn 903. Fads come & go and your personal taste will change over. What you think looks modern now will look dated in a decade. Have a look some of 1980 Omegas and compare it to a 1980s Submariner. Some designs are timeless which means you can pass the watch to your son without it looking passe 20-30 years for now.

I till think they look cheap. the back plate looks cheap, mill that out and maek some design there. And make some modern looking watches that are tasteful. REmove the clasp as it cheap stamped steel make it solid. You never know in future who become great. Just because Breitling isnt the best investment if they continue.....

So they can only tell time for 4.5 minutes? (90*3)/60 And at the end the watch kinda failed. It's a cool watch but totally useless probably. They'd better make a cool Carrera instead of investing R&D in things like this in my opinion.

Can't you see with yoru eyes that that company makes things as cheap as possibly, pick a tag up and hold it, or breitling the quality is there, Roles was making hollow links till few years back saying it was for weight, Walmart watches are made the same way. I do agree they have a huh resale value but give us something more modern that the old stuff. It ok for my dad to where he was young in the 60's.
