I *loved* Klingon Academy and spent untold hours playing. I wish it still worked on my computer. I didn't care for Bridge Crew as much because I didn't like the way it held my hand too much, constantly recommending that I do things immediately before I was about to do them anyway. It never gave me the opportunity to think things through on my own. Admittedly, I never finished it so maybe that improves over the course of the game, but it drove me nuts.
I discovered the remastered version of BC recently and was just in awe of its beauty. I can just watch the Enterprise A and D sail slowly by in flyby mode. Definitely want to have a go at KA next.

I used to play it on a daily basis til the 10th Anniversary. But now, I play it every 3-6 months to see what's new or to get writing inspiration for describing alien worlds then turn it off and start playing DOOM 2016.
@@morrit33 I love STO, but yeah, it's a 14 year old game and it *looks* like a 14 year old game. It's definitely in need of, at the very least, a graphics overhaul. Some of the gameplay mechanics are still rooted in the 2000/2010's mmo mentality of excessive grinding too.
I just finished a first playthrough of resurgence in a single sitting, i couldn't put it down through the roughly 12 hours. And with me owning around 300 games mostly unfinished that says a lot. It has a great story fully rooted in the stng universe and it never got stale. It doesn't bog you down with too many puzzles or mini games and the decisions you make seem to have lasting effects on the story making you wonder how things would have turned out had you chose option b or c instead of a. The voice acting was great and much of the time the visuals look really good. Not gonna fluff it, the character animations needed a lot of polish, they often move strangly and the facial animations were over exaggerated especially the single eybrow raises and squinting eyes. There were bugs, stutering camera and a few frame drops, and I experienced a fatal error crash. But getting past that it felt like playing through an actual season of a new star trek tv show not a game with a star trek theme and will be doing a second playthrough to try some alternate outcomes.
The optimization of this game is abysmal. It feels like it has been made by one of those showelware makers of one or two developers. On Ryzen 5 5600 and rx5700xt it works terrible (worse than Starfield). It was a good concept but has terrible technical execution.
Of all the Star Trek games I miss playing is Star Trek Armada and Armada II. I had the standard version installed on the computer connected to the internet, and a heavily modded version on my personal computer. The map I loved the most when a cocky friend or two challenged me was 6 pack. I would build an impenetrable defensive gauntlet of starbases and alternating sensor/phaser/torpedo platforms all around my entrance then around wormholes and then cover every bit of pathway they could possibly traverse. Then while my defensive gauntlet is shredding each ship they send my way I would build my own super of anywhere from 340 to 900 ships and send them to slaughter them.
Birth of the Federation is the best star trek game of all time. I would say its the best game of all time but that's likely just my opinion and im partial to 4x games. Rais multiplayer mod (RMPM) will be out soon and it will be the best modded and modernized version of botf. Sure to knock your socks off I promise! :)
I've got Klingon Academy! At the time, found the difficultly suddenly ramped up and then later on, think it was my disk 3, seemed to crash on, gutted. Obviously your right, Bridge Commander was awesome! But I'd also recommend Birth of the Federation, I spent hours playing that game, though it does feel abit compared to other similar games but its Trek! Also going totally old school, but Judgment Rites is a great point and click adventure.
I never played Klingon academy.... I collected almost every Star Trek Game as a Teen. I still have all the physical copies. Armada 2, Elite Force, birth of the federation, Away Team... I played so much Starfleet Command 3!
Played Klingon academy back in the day... my favorite part was the assault on the Sol system.... final attack on earth.... escorting the freighter carrying the Genesis torpedo.... i cloaked and moved in between the enterprises nacelles and blasted the inpulse engine with full weapons set on over load.... it was crazy.....
Star Trek Online's season content is pretty good and offer a super solid start trek game with interesting story arcs voiced by alot of great star trek actors, lots of customization for ships and crew. Also it is completely free.
Are there any games or mods that allow you to explore the interior of any of these ships? I was disappointed that none of the Elite Force games have a mod for expanding your access to Voyager. I'd even have been happy with a nova class... maybe I need to get into modding, I don't know.
VR Trek is the best Trek I’ve played and they are still releasing new episodes (DLC) at an amazing value. Yes, they are all short… but the limitation of the hardware it runs on (and those refresh rates) means that’s a good thing. You don’t hear about too many people getting sick playing it. If only there were shorter waits for DLC.

if you are gonna get the GOG copy of Bridge Commander, save your money and get it for free online. the GOG version of the game is unplayable when initially downloaded for some reason and actually requires the Remastered Mod to even function

For me, the number one Star Trek game is birth of the Federation. When I pull that game out, I can play it for hours easily. I really wish they would make a new version or remastered, but as I understand it, that’s not possible.
Star Trek Armada is also great and on GOG. If you like Strategy games its awesome. Not a fan of Armada 2, but there was a following for it so had to mention it.

Bridge Commander remastered looks good, and plays well, but I can't load a save file. I'm not the only one. once that gets fixed, I'm sure it will be awesome.
@@LTGamingUA-cam Ah, my bad! Early in Bridge Commander history, the devs released the SDK for the game, which helped modders greatly as we could reshape it any way we saw fit. The data files are essentially scripts written in the Python programming language. Very often, mod creators compile these files after making the changes. This protects their work from unwanted changes, but also improves execution times. However, uncompiled scripts are very easy to edit and if one has them, he or she can easily experiment and play around with ship hardpoints, weapons damage, energy consumption...... everything that the SDK exposes!
I got the GOG remastered bridge commander, just can't make it work lol. I am bad with computers. I had mods working 10 years ago for armada and bridge commander, I guess I am dumber now lol.
The first Star Fleet Command was better the SFC3. Especially if you were a fan of tabletop Star Fleet Battles. But the best experience is ST Bridge Crew in VR! When I got it, while waiting for my friends to get VR, I was really awesome playing by myself, with voice commands... Sadly the the voice commands software was Microsoft, and the contract between them and Ubersoft expired and voice commands were removed. It utterly RUINED playing by my self. It's still possible to play single player, but giving commands to other stations without voice commands was very time consuming. But playing with at least 2 is still fun as hell (3 or 4 is better, but 2 is acceptable

They missed the mark SO hard with the VR game. they were onto something so good. The sense of awe you got when you first played it was immense. They only ever added the enterprise D as well, they could of added so many ships as paid optional DLC to keep the game funded, it was reliant on IBM's Watson as well for the voice commands for the computer playing solo and they dropped that support making it useless. They also could of added away missions and stuff. Wasted their time on that title by half assing it

The only thing that spoils that one is the slow down bug that creeps in after so many turns. I dont think it was ever fixed.

KA is awesome and so is BC with the Remastered Mod! Not many of the older ST games hold up well today.

Klingon Academy was one of the best space games of all time. When a Game Studio remasters this game, they will make MILLIONS.

Bridge Crew has a bug that doesn't save one's progress. The progress and created avatar are erased every time one logs off the game.
Never had this issue? Has always worked perfectly for me! Might just be localized.
