@Beano Rod I've asked for a copy of that game for review but nothing yet. We play Legacy and Klingon Academy but no way to buy them these days limits the upside!
What I would love to do is RAM the ship and just loose alittle damage and front phasers or to use the phasers on low settings to shear off the enemies nacelles.
omg thank you for including a method of legally downloading the game. I used to have so much fun back in the day playing this, even multiplayer.. I don't even remember what fleet i was in but our rival was a fleet called the devil dogs.. they were worthy opponents :p
4 things. 1. Nice video. Would like to see more diverse matchups in the future like a D7 and 2 birds of prey versus an Excelsior and 2 Reliants. 2. You should really target shield generators right off the bat. If you get lucky, you can destroy that subsystem with one torpedo salvo in an opening volley. 3. When rotating through phaser arcs, especially with long torpedo reload times, you should use your arcs and slowly rotate, not quickly, so you can utilize all stored phaser power. 4. Reducing sensor power to 25% is always a good idea when you want to maximize weapon and shield power.
Thanks for the feedback. We approach STBC in a little bit of a different manner to a lot of the other channels. A bit more of a macro approach but always open to suggestions 🚀🚀 I think this has become one of the biggest videos in the space for awhile so more to come 🚀
I loved modding this game, had a huge mix of ships from B5, Battlestar Galactica, other Star Trek models, all sorts. Used to love going in with a huge Minbari fleet against the Borg 😂
Really nice looking but I still have a little more atmopherical feeling by playing Klingon Academy. Especially in damage detail and station funktion/allocation. But both storys are still compelling. Well done lad. . . Nifty Greetings from Germany 🖖😎
It having the NX has me interested... by far my favourite Enterprise, its so cool looking unique compared to most Fedy ships... save my 2nd favourite the Akira.
Just grabbed a new copy of this on gog. I wish this mod supported more resolutions though as my monitor doesn't do 1080. I also could have sworn bridge commander had voice command but that doesn't seem to work now.
And the thing with the intrepid Class. She has good weapons and shields, but her hull and mass are a little weak. The Excelsior and Ambassador is still better. Although the Ambassador would have larger hit points (Hardpoint Radius) to where they take a lot of damage from any side of the drive section, slow moving with minimal phaser coverage .. The hotel in space during peace time. Where later we find out about the Cardassian Border Wars, the Tzenkethi and the Xindi. But, during the Ambassador, Excelsior, Miranda, Centaur, Springfield, New Orleans and Nebula were involved in the Cardassian, Tzenkethi and Talerian conflicts. And the USS Enterprise 1701-C (Ambassador Class) was destroyed by Romulan forces while defending a Klingon colony at Narendra III in 2344.
I love reading cannon in random youtube comments, makes me feel at home. Thing about Intrepid is that it isn't the same class of ship as an Excelsior or an Ambassador. You shouldn't, and can't, really compare capabilities of the classes directly, Intrepid has a complement of ~140, Excelsior already at 750 and Ambassador at 900 ( somehow this always catches me off, as the Excelsior appears to have the longer frame and visually looks like it should be able to carry more people. But while the hull of an Excelsior looks 'fat', it's got a skinny saucer and the Ambassador is the opposite, short hull but much more girth at the saucer section. Both the Ambassador and Excelsior are fitted with much higher grade shield emitters, simply because they have the size to accommodate them. A normal Intrepid ( there are plenty of 'Janeway versions' available for this game... giving you alll the transphasic torpedoes and ablative armor you want so you can singlehandedly remove a fleet of tactical cubes... hoping the engine won't crash ) is simply not designed for combat it was designed for exploration ( quick and 'smart' ). Still, the game's AI makes it impossible to really rank ships battle performance as it often won't match your expectations based on cannon. ( fight a Breen with an energy weapon and see if you can match the show .. not that this would be 'fun' perhaps but still ).
There's no way a starfleet ship 100 years older than intrepid could beat it in a fair battle... Unless you're talking about this game, where they clearly balance the ships to make them playable (ie the intrepid losing to a 120+ year old enterprise as shown)
@@RayJames-mk3yq Yeah 120 years is a lot. A warship from 120 years ago, or even five, would not be able to go up against a modern warship with all of its advanced smart weapons. A modern warship would be able to fire enough missiles to destroy all five before they were even in visual range.
@@mikelovesbacon It depends on who modded the ship. A ship's power level will vary between modders. The Intrepid I had wrecked anything from the TMP era fairly easily, but struggled against ships it was supposed to struggle with.
Thankyou for the video's. I would love to see an interstellar mod added where you can travel to other star systems in quick battle. Which has one of the original mods. I would love to see that added to the remastered version. Also a mod to replace the old crew with some better models. I have the seatbelt mod that lets you get out of the chair and walk around. I would love to see that one added as well. Ultimately I would love to see some new missions added. However after trying my hand at scripting for the game, I know how difficult that would be. I hope the mod continues to develop. It's been great to see the game updated. Not bad for a game from 2002. Thanks again.
You are most welcome. I will be featuring KM and TOS mod again soon also. Finding and playing this game was one of the best things I ever got to do! Your support is appreciated 🚀
I used to play this with the Kobayashi Maru ultimate mod, which looks a lot like this. I think I recognise these ship models as ported from Starfleet Command and really allowed to shine in BC's more updated graphics engine. Can you tell if this mod works with Bridge Commander as running from Good Old Games (GOG)?
You can use manual fire, which I find much more effective than the tactical officer. Which means, you are not wrong to use your mouse. 🙃 Fantastic mod.
Manual Fire really is most of the fun i have with this game. Just letting the crew auto-pilot while i use the phasers like a knife to cut necks and nacelles off the ships. Though this mod doesnt seem to have that visible cutting damage like vanilla which is sad.
Man this game is over a decade old and its still fun. I would say tho klingon academy has better controls using th full keyboard and having transporters. However I do like some of the menus for a real next generation feel also in reminded me of Bridge crew which was but way hard to control a ship solo which is ok but this felt more real in a way for how a ship could be controlled if you where l Iike a command emh on the holodeck but I would say ka made you feel like you had full bridge commands at the finger tips of a keyboard and if you wanted to do the Picard maneuver for real it would likely be better on ka also there should be a mod for that! On both!
In the age of Remasters/Remakes, and with the resurgence of interest in Trek, you would think that SOMEONE would jump at the chance to remake a game like Bridge Commander. Aside from Star Trek Online and Bridge Crew, there really has not been a mainline Star Trek game in decades
I liked Bridge Commander, but never liked flying the ship manually. Preferred just giving orders from the Captain’s chair and letting the helmsman and tactical officer do the flying and shooting.
I just got into BC about 6 months ago, and have the original version with Remastered and KM mods available. I favor KM as they really went all out with the extra missions in that version, but Remastered is prettier, and has a ton of potential for future expansion.
@@LTGamingUA-cam so was Klingon Academy. THAT was the the best game to allow you to feel the mass of these ships. My disc 1 burned up years ago, and I haven't quite had the time or know how to figure out how to get it to run on a modern OS. It deserves as much respect as BC. Sadly, the source code went the way of Interplay.
Okay I just tried it and I love the new ship models and textures, but got instantly erased by the two earlu warbirds. That's the issue with some fan mods, the balance seems wonky.
Star Trek Bridge Commander looks so good but for me it's unplayable because the UI and font size are just way too small. I can't find any kind of fix for it.
Can we add additional ships from Halo and actual ship descriptions that give lore and stats on the new ships and where they lack. Also maybe fix bugs on the older ships.
@@LTGamingUA-cama) it’s not huge b) the refit has so many rcs thrusters it should spin and rotate like a top. It’s been nerfed because silly people think it’s ‘old’
Is there any way of having all the ships but reverting combat to the OG version?. It's kinda anticlimatic how fights end in 30 seconds and phasers just deplete instantly vs actually having a slower combat and getting to slowly shred through enemy shields and actually having the time to target systems or weapons and such

What I have a problem with is this game has the ship rotating independently from space beyond. It looks weird as space is what is moving as the ship stays still.
Cool to see this game still getting some love still, but I feel they need to add more stuff than just ships add more gameplay options like saucer separation like km does but sadly this still crashes frequently I was hoping this would solve this but I imagine it's the engine that causes this. Wish they would update the explosions it looks pretty meh to be honest but better than nothing.
I used to play this with the Kobayashi Maru modpack, this seems to be just a new iteration of that mod? Don't seem to be any changes from when I played it, and that was years ago. Still sweet off course, but this showed up in my feed and I was excited to see a totally new overhaul which this doesn't seem to be at all :(
@@LTGamingUA-cam wait, so what did they upgrade? It looks like the same models textures and effects as the latest KM I played ( though maybe it's UA-cam compression? ). It's still cool though of course, there is nothing more bridge commander as bridge commander 👌
@@LTGamingUA-cam It's been a while since I played.. heck I think last time I had 2 gig off video memory and it felt like I had the best card I could buy ;) It's a real shame the engine is so old and no developer has dared to couch up the license fees needed to use the franchise. I think there would be plenty of potential buyers as long as the game is good. Then again, I'm still playing Birth Of The Federation as one of my most enjoyable games... nostalgia goes a long way I guess :D I'll install BC and give this new mod a go as well, this weekend or earlier. Thanks for reminding me to scratch the itch ;)
@@LTGamingUA-cam own Bridge Commander on original disc and thru GOG does this mod also address the memory leak issues when dealing with a lot of ships? When I ran Kobayashi Maru I always crashed due to the setup skirmishes when setting up large scale battles.
We want a modern version! The trouble is Star Trek has moved on and this really for me was the era of what it was all about. Not sure they could recapture that feel 🚀
@LT Gaming I was part of the OG BC mod scene. Believe me, the game was unstable, but we made that game our own. I mainly did texture mods and contributed in other ways, such as realising that if you modify the Python script for a ships phaser output into the negatives, you have just created a "repair beam" I think it was later added to a worker bee IIRC. But yeah, there's an MVAM mod. You can use it with the Galaxy Class and the Prometheus. There's possibly more models that can do it, but it's been so long. There's also mods to eject the warp core, abandon ship to shuttle or captiains yacht, Different bridges, an entire Kobayashi Maru game mode too. So many models were made. Even the Voyager model with all the future tech on it, such as the ablative armour and tricobalt devices. I will have to get intouch with some old friends, see if any of all the hard work is stored somewhere. If I get some links, I'll post them in a reply
So they haven't improved the engine. That was one of the things about the original that frustrated me. I wanted to create big battles like we saw in DS9 during the Dominion War. But the engine couldn't handle a large number of ships and would crash. I wonder if there is a way to do that.
@@LTGamingUA-cam Right But for me (before) I would set the resolution to say "1080" or something, play the game fine, until you close and relaunch, nothing. Or an error and have to repaste the "options" file.
@@LTGamingUA-cam I'm referring to the power management, subsystem targeting, firing arcs and control layout such us using mouse wheel for engine speed. Most welcome! It's an awesome game 🚀
We need more ST games like this. Also a legal way to buy ST Legacy would be nice as well. Only ST game in development is a story based game in the vein of Telltale games :l
@Beano Rod I've asked for a copy of that game for review but nothing yet. We play Legacy and Klingon Academy but no way to buy them these days limits the upside!
@@beanorod-zt2nl ebay has original copies
This game needs a remake. It was hell lots of fun to play.
What I would love to do is RAM the ship and just loose alittle damage and front phasers or to use the phasers on low settings to shear off the enemies nacelles.
Well that is a precise requirement 🤣🚀
omg thank you for including a method of legally downloading the game. I used to have so much fun back in the day playing this, even multiplayer.. I don't even remember what fleet i was in but our rival was a fleet called the devil dogs.. they were worthy opponents :p
Yes you can get it on GOG. The only way to do it these days 🙂🚀
Probably your were in WP (Wolf Pack)
ANyway I can play this online again?

4 things. 1.
A bit more of a macro approach but always open to suggestions 🚀🚀 I think this has become one of the biggest videos in the space for awhile so more to come 🚀
Awesome video. Subscribed.
Awesome, thank you!
You can realy make an RPG in open space with this hillarious game mechanics and in Star Trek setting. A few mils of bucks is needed. Dreams...
Back in the day, this game was our Facebook
Damn, this brings me back.
Enjoy it :)
I loved modding this game, had a huge mix of ships from B5, Battlestar Galactica, other Star Trek models, all sorts. Used to love going in with a huge Minbari fleet against the Borg 😂
So much that can be done with it and a lot more on the way 🚀🚀
Mimbari..... i prefer the Vorlon Planet Killer vs the Borg Cube.... pretty fair fight
@@miranda7523 Haha, that's just not sporting. Poor Borg🤣
Are there no damage textures on the remastered ships? One of my favorite things about BC was seeing the damage I did, or had done.. xD
There is! I had disabled it previously due to some slow down fighting a Borg Cube 🚀
Really nice looking but I still have a little more atmopherical feeling by playing Klingon Academy. Especially in damage detail and station funktion/allocation. But both storys are still compelling. Well done lad. . . Nifty Greetings from Germany 🖖😎
Appreciate it! We covered KA also on the channel :)
@@LTGamingUA-cam yeah! Thanxalot for your videos! Of course I will check them aswell. 👍😎

@@LTGamingUA-cam How easy is it to install the mod? Also, does it help the game balance out over a multi-core system?
I was secretly hoping that they was going to use Enterprise A in the last episode of Star Trek Picard...
One of my favorite of all time!
BC is back baaaaby!
The line must be drawn HERE! " Capt J.l. Picard Arp 5th (my Bday wow) 2021

Always time to get back into it 🚀🚀
It having the NX has me interested... by far my favourite Enterprise, its so cool looking unique compared to most Fedy ships... save my 2nd favourite the Akira.
Both in it and both awesome :)
Just grabbed a new copy of this on gog. I wish this mod supported more resolutions though as my monitor doesn't do 1080. I also could have sworn bridge commander had voice command but that doesn't seem to work now.
Yes I'm with super wide-screen and having that issue!
I might get this on when i get a pc again
Do you know what? Im going to buy STBC and install this new mod and Im having the fun of my life. Thank you very much for this video.
Most Welcome! Glad you enjoyed it and are having fun :)
Wow...it's been a LOOOONG time since I've played this. Used to mod the hell out of it...until I lost my mod.
Haha time to get it back! 🚀
Pretty good concept for a game from 2002. Would love a remake. Paramount are idiots only running MMO type games with this franchise.
I would suggest the entire fleet get on the upper back of the enemy and all target that one spot.
Does ship-to-ship combat always end in the total destruction of the enemy vessel, or can they be boarded?
No boarding but you can in Klingon Academy 🚀
STBC one of the best PC games ever made top5
I used to play this with the Kobayashi Maru ultimate mod, which looks a lot like this. I think I recognise these ship models as ported from Starfleet Command and really allowed to shine in BC's more updated graphics engine.
Can you tell if this mod works with Bridge Commander as running from Good Old Games (GOG)?
Its does!
Now we need Klingon a academy remastered
I've played the NGA mod on the channel but this is defo a step up in ship models!
You can use manual fire, which I find much more effective than the tactical officer. Which means, you are not wrong to use your mouse. 🙃 Fantastic mod.
I'm using manual fire 🙂 I just sometimes have a habit of playing my mouse over the target 🤣🤣
Manual Fire really is most of the fun i have with this game. Just letting the crew auto-pilot while i use the phasers like a knife to cut necks and nacelles off the ships. Though this mod doesnt seem to have that visible cutting damage like vanilla which is sad.
@@EmperorNiko I may have it disabled for larger battles!
Looks great, lol but the refit connie shouldnt have a rear torpedo tube, no place to come out!
Yeah it does and comes as one easy package for people who don't mod a lot. But yes the rear tube has been mentioned to me!
On both!
Does it have Galaxy Charts? In Kobayashi Maru mod, you get to simulate the events after Dominion War which is fun.
“Where’s that damn torpedo?!”
“She’s ready, Jim! Lock and load!”
“Fire!”
One of my fave scenes in Star Trek!
@@LTGamingUA-cam Yeah i kinda thought you were gonna pull the second run off at the last minute - like in VI, lol.
@Adarkane325xi almost haha. I did this scene in another video 🚀
@@LTGamingUA-cam This video here randomly showed up in my feed, i’ll take a look at your channel.
In the age of Remasters/Remakes, and with the resurgence of interest in Trek, you would think that SOMEONE would jump at the chance to remake a game like Bridge Commander. Aside from Star Trek Online and Bridge Crew, there really has not been a mainline Star Trek game in decades
Totally agree! Just look at the interest in this video 🚀 anyone got a contact at Paramount? 😀
I liked Bridge Commander, but never liked flying the ship manually. Preferred just giving orders from the Captain’s chair and letting the helmsman and tactical officer do the flying and shooting.
I kind of agree just many play it outside the ship for UA-cam!
I just got into BC about 6 months ago, and have the original version with Remastered and KM mods available. I favor KM as they really went all out with the extra missions in that version, but Remastered is prettier, and has a ton of potential for future expansion.
Yeah for sure it feels like it can go even further. KM is great but very temperamental!
@Jake Werkmeister I know where you can get a copy 🚀🚀 played it on the channel a few times also 😀
Okay I just tried it and I love the new ship models and textures, but got instantly erased by the two earlu warbirds. That's the issue with some fan mods, the balance seems wonky.
Having found it unbalanced at all. What was the issue?
Star Trek Bridge Commander looks so good but for me it's unplayable because the UI and font size are just way too small. I can't find any kind of fix for it.
Not sure how to solve unless you lower the resolution?
lower the rez, and force aggressive AA in your GPU's control panel?
Can we add additional ships from Halo and actual ship descriptions that give lore and stats on the new ships and where they lack. Also maybe fix bugs on the older ships.
Is this considered the main mod to have? Or are there others that improve other aspects besides just the graphics?
Generally considered the modern mod to have. Check out the Star Trek: Legacy mod too for Bridge Commander.
Wish it would call out Dorsal/Ventral shields, not top/bottom
This seems to irritate many haha. But tbh never bothered me!
Why haven’t the bridges and characters been remastered? The Constitution should be more nimble.
Why would a huge ship be nimble?
@@LTGamingUA-cama) it’s not huge b) the refit has so many rcs thrusters it should spin and rotate like a top. It’s been nerfed because silly people think it’s ‘old’
@@ZoeSummers1701A think about the reality of a ship like this in space. It wouldn't be that nimble.
This looks really good.
Glad you enjoyed it! We have done a lot of Star Trek content 🚀
Where is the Connie refit firing rear torpedoes from? 😂
I need an in depth video on how to install this mod and show how to get it to work.
how do you get the screen to centert on your ultra wide screen monitor mine is 40 inches I modded it but running in the yop left corner not centered
Change the screen resolution then launch the game for me.
I own the original version of this software. Can you share how us non-tech users upgrade to get these additional features? Thanks!
Follow the Remastered link in the description and have full instructions there :)
Can you get the remastered mod to work with the galaxy war simulator used in kobayashi maru mod?
I don't think so currently! 🤔
Does the game have a VR mode, e.g. playable over an Occulus/PC Link?
It does not as its over 20 years old but there is a VR Bridge Crew game 🚀
I didn't think the Connies had rear tubes...
Is there any way of having all the ships but reverting combat to the OG version?. It's kinda anticlimatic how fights end in 30 seconds and phasers just deplete instantly vs actually having a slower combat and getting to slowly shred through enemy shields and actually having the time to target systems or weapons and such
oh yes this is the one! :)
Nice Reference! ha
Does this mod do anything with the campaign or is it just yhe battles?
Campaign is Remastered!
So i installed this great game again on my modern rig running windows 11 on an rts 3060, im having an issue htough i can only get it running in windowed mod and quite crashy , i followed all instructions , any idea how to at least get it running in fullscreen ?
I'm playing this on a Windows 10 machine so not sure. Have your messed about with resolutions?
@@LTGamingUA-cam I have and i also tried editing the config file directly, say that if you wouldn't mind can you upload your config file please to google drive or mediafire or such, that might be helpful in getting it to at least launch , cheers
Still sweet off course, but this showed up in my feed and I was excited to see a totally new overhaul which this doesn't seem to be at all :(
I play KM and this looks a lot better! KM is still great though.
@@LTGamingUA-cam wait, so what did they upgrade? It looks like the same models textures and effects as the latest KM I played ( though maybe it's UA-cam compression? ).
I might be spoiled, when i saw this pop up in my recommended i hopes to see something akin what Freespace (2) modded looks like compared with the stock game.
It's still cool though of course, there is nothing more bridge commander as bridge commander 👌
@@LTGamingUA-cam you know what, the only option is seeing for myself 😁
@MarvinWestmaas upgraded textures vs KM 🚀🚀 In my Prometheus video I play some KM at the end so you can see!
@@LTGamingUA-cam It's been a while since I played.. heck I think last time I had 2 gig off video memory and it felt like I had the best card I could buy ;)
It's a real shame the engine is so old and no developer has dared to couch up the license fees needed to use the franchise. I think there would be plenty of potential buyers as long as the game is good.
Then again, I'm still playing Birth Of The Federation as one of my most enjoyable games... nostalgia goes a long way I guess :D
I'll install BC and give this new mod a go as well, this weekend or earlier. Thanks for reminding me to scratch the itch ;)

This game is the reason why I never really enjoyed STO. This was possible, but yet they went on with arcade.
We want a modern version! The trouble is Star Trek has moved on and this really for me was the era of what it was all about. Not sure they could recapture that feel 🚀
You need the MVAM mod
The what now....I'm open to explore all BC mods ha! 🚀🚀
@LT Gaming I was part of the OG BC mod scene. Believe me, the game was unstable, but we made that game our own.
I mainly did texture mods and contributed in other ways, such as realising that if you modify the Python script for a ships phaser output into the negatives, you have just created a "repair beam"
I think it was later added to a worker bee IIRC.
But yeah, there's an MVAM mod. You can use it with the Galaxy Class and the Prometheus. There's possibly more models that can do it, but it's been so long.
There's also mods to eject the warp core, abandon ship to shuttle or captiains yacht,
Different bridges, an entire Kobayashi Maru game mode too.
So many models were made. Even the Voyager model with all the future tech on it, such as the ablative armour and tricobalt devices.
I will have to get intouch with some old friends, see if any of all the hard work is stored somewhere. If I get some links, I'll post them in a reply
What happened to the damage modeling?
It may have been accidently turned off as was doing a quick battle with a Borg Cube and it slows the game down!
So they haven't improved the engine.
That was one of the things about the original that frustrated me. I wanted to create big battles like we saw in DS9 during the Dominion War. But the engine couldn't handle a large number of ships and would crash. I wonder if there is a way to do that.
I assume this works with Kobayashi Maru mod?
This needs to be installed separately!
Will definitely check it out then as soon as I can. Thanks for the hard work!
@Beano Rod much appreciated 🚀🚀 new STBC video on the way previewing an update to this mod!
What happened to ST Excalibur?
I wonder if they finally got these graphical mods to work with the campaign? I lost interest in BC mods when nothing worked with the main game.

@@LTGamingUA-cam Right But for me (before) I would set the resolution to say "1080" or something, play the game fine, until you close and relaunch, nothing. Or an error and have to repaste the "options" file.
