I love that the Refit phasers use the pulses from TWOK. I ESPECIALLY love that the aft phasers are actually modeled. Many games nerf Federation ships by not modeling their secondary hull weapons. Did they also model the four ventral phasers?
I think someone who did the numbers for the added ships either really underestimated the Intrepid and Galaxy, or really overestimated the Constitution refit
Nah, numbers really matter along with having an actual person involved vs a basic AI. If you are in the stronger ship but outnumbered you would want to maneuver to avoid as much fire as possible and pick off each enemy ship one at a time. Allowing them to share the damage while combining their firepower is a losing strategy. Tactically the lesser ships have an advantage if they are willing to sacrifice one or more of their number.
@@DrewLSsix Depends on the impulse speed. Realistically, a non-AI would run from this encounter. Even with superior impulse speed (remember, a smaller ship could have a weaker engine and move faster due to lower mass), they'd be setting themselves up for punishing their shield generators, and that would also limit their firing, but turning to use "all arcs" to prevent being outgunned, would more or less have you do what the AI is doing here. This manifests alot in the shows: unless they have enough shields to take down all ships before their shields are depleted, they will try to find a way out of the fight, unless they're with a fleet, cannot escape, or are 1-on-1. This is something people don't appreciate, especially when designing these games. Capital ships have a bunch of crew on them, and every hit without shields is likely to result in at least one crew member dying and some really hard to repair damage (outside of spacedock, you'll be patching at best). Instead, you're going to prefer standoff tactics or not fighting at all.
as I recall you can aim your phasers as specific subsystems if you click "h" and then select the subsystem (like shield generator) from the ship list. (why you want to click on the ship)

I used to play this with the Kobayashi Maru ultimate mod, which looks a lot like this. I think I recognise these ship models as ported from Starfleet Command and really allowed to shine in BC's more updated graphics engine. Can you tell if this mod works with Bridge Commander as running from Good Old Games (GOG)?
small little trick i allawys do , launch a probe at the start., and then when u get low intercept it. so u can repair. this method takes ages but it works.
The highly positive reaction to ST: BRIDGE COMMANDER is interesting because in 2003 and the time after it had been torn down by professional critics WOrLDWIDE !! To the German GAMESTAR magazin " ONE OF THE MOST BORING GAMES OF ALL TIME ! " and even a lot of gameers chimed in with that opinion. Guess what turned the game into a stinker here in the Germanic Countries had been the missing dubbed sequences. After all the game was done mostly for teenagers and those fellows usually don ´t have that solid English skills. Subtitles don t bring it here around were almost everything gets dubbed People like me loving it had been a slim minority back in those times.
Man, this makes me wish the old Galaxy Charts mod was more fleshed out. The last update they made over a decade ago added in a full-on war simulation for the galaxy where you could have a fleet and conquer systems, it was great fun when it worked (unfortunately rarely due to BC's engine constraints).
@Rena Hirose See, if the AI we currently have available could actually work out problems a little better rather than just predict what comes next with scary accuracy, I would feed it the GC code and ask it to clean it up just to see what happens. I think AI could do wonders for fixing mods and compatibility if it can be trained in that direction. Either that or just have it code Bridge Commander 2 already.
BC is still the only 'ST simulator' which gives you a full 3d environment for your ships and that's why people come back to it. The restraints off the engine is a sad thing, and like with Birth Of The Federation ( which I still play often, modded ofc ), there isn't a new version on the horizon. BoTF 2 had been in volunteer development for a long time before I even stopped following the progress. It's also one of my biggest letdowns of STO. It's NOT 'Star Trek' is I'm supposed to be in space but I'm forcefully restrained in my maneuvering. That and the fact that it's designed with the intent to bleed your wallet dry and not for people who love the franchise. A multiplayer stand alone galaxy chats with dynamic campaign would bleed STO's playerbase in days... most people like to fly ships, and flying ships is more immersive in a real 3d environment.
@@MarvinWestmaas Ideal BC2 for me would have the core tactical gameplay of the original with the ability to walk around your ship Elite Force-style, which is used as a secondary system with first-person/planet-related scenarios. These scenarios would be a mix of handmade and procedurally generated "episodes" and eventually you would replace most of the procedural episodes with player-created ones, as the game would ship with a built-in and robust mission creator like in STO. My favorite part of STO was actually the user-created missions because the writing and story potential (especially with multi-part ones) ironically had some of the most 'Star Trek' writing I've ever seen, moreso than the new shows for sure. So basically it would be a combination of the space and ship gameplay from BC, the first-person aspects of Elite Force, and the user-generated content of STO. You could develop the game as a series of "Quadrants" with Alpha and Federation-centric gameplay being the base and three expansions adding content for the Borg, Dominion, and Klingon/Romulans after the initial release. Make it easy to mod and not multiplayer-only and you've got a game that will satisfy every Star Trek fan on the planet.
The ship models look great, but I noticed there was no hull damage shown (like tearing chunks of the hull apart and seeing the interior decks). That was Bridge Commander's party trick, so if that's removed because of the mod then no thanks.
Just grabbed a new copy of this on gog. I wish this mod supported more resolutions though as my monitor doesn't do 1080. I also could have sworn bridge commander had voice command but that doesn't seem to work now.
Okay I just tried it and I love the new ship models and textures, but got instantly erased by the two earlu warbirds. That's the issue with some fan mods, the balance seems wonky.
@@LTGamingUA-cam I worked on most of the characters in the game (They were super low poly...only 1000 tris each), a few of the ships including the Bird of Prey and Marauder, and a good chunk of the menus and UI. It was a pretty small team, so we got to wear multiple hats.

However I do like some of the menus for a real next generation feel also in reminded me of Bridge crew which was but way hard to control a ship solo which is ok but this felt more real in a way for how a ship could be controlled if you where l Iike a command emh on the holodeck but I would say ka made you feel like you had full bridge commands at the finger tips of a keyboard and if you wanted to do the Picard maneuver for real it would likely be better on ka also there should be a mod for that! On both!
I had BC on an old laptop which got stolen. My 6 year old son at the time loved playing it. Especially the Stargate Atlantis mod. We used to play with the USS Odyssey against Ori. I taught my son how to code basic stuff, and we "installed" 3x ZPM modules. One each for engines, shields and weapons. It was great fun toasting fleets of Ori mothers motherships. I'll have to give this update a try
Star Trek Bridge Commander looks so good but for me it's unplayable because the UI and font size are just way too small. I can't find any kind of fix for it.
Here is a question i`ve asked others before. How can i play this on my system which has AMD Graphics and not Nvidia? here are my system specs Athlon 5 5600X 32 gig ram Sap[hire radeon RX 5500xt Graphics card.windows 10 22H2. So the specs are good and i should be able to play this however it crashes. Any Ideas?
Cool to see this game still getting some love still, but I feel they need to add more stuff than just ships add more gameplay options like saucer separation like km does but sadly this still crashes frequently I was hoping this would solve this but I imagine it's the engine that causes this. Wish they would update the explosions it looks pretty meh to be honest but better than nothing.
Is there any way of having all the ships but reverting combat to the OG version?. It's kinda anticlimatic how fights end in 30 seconds and phasers just deplete instantly vs actually having a slower combat and getting to slowly shred through enemy shields and actually having the time to target systems or weapons and such
It's ok still not as good as my build with multiple mods running I've got mvam galaxy class voyager and various others wonder if I can apply just the graphics from the tgl files to update my version
It having the NX has me interested... by far my favourite Enterprise, its so cool looking unique compared to most Fedy ships... save my 2nd favourite the Akira.
And the thing with the intrepid Class. She has good weapons and shields, but her hull and mass are a little weak. The Excelsior and Ambassador is still better. Although the Ambassador would have larger hit points (Hardpoint Radius) to where they take a lot of damage from any side of the drive section, slow moving with minimal phaser coverage .. The hotel in space during peace time. Where later we find out about the Cardassian Border Wars, the Tzenkethi and the Xindi. But, during the Ambassador, Excelsior, Miranda, Centaur, Springfield, New Orleans and Nebula were involved in the Cardassian, Tzenkethi and Talerian conflicts. And the USS Enterprise 1701-C (Ambassador Class) was destroyed by Romulan forces while defending a Klingon colony at Narendra III in 2344.
I love reading cannon in random youtube comments, makes me feel at home. Thing about Intrepid is that it isn't the same class of ship as an Excelsior or an Ambassador. You shouldn't, and can't, really compare capabilities of the classes directly, Intrepid has a complement of ~140, Excelsior already at 750 and Ambassador at 900 ( somehow this always catches me off, as the Excelsior appears to have the longer frame and visually looks like it should be able to carry more people. But while the hull of an Excelsior looks 'fat', it's got a skinny saucer and the Ambassador is the opposite, short hull but much more girth at the saucer section. Both the Ambassador and Excelsior are fitted with much higher grade shield emitters, simply because they have the size to accommodate them. A normal Intrepid ( there are plenty of 'Janeway versions' available for this game... giving you alll the transphasic torpedoes and ablative armor you want so you can singlehandedly remove a fleet of tactical cubes... hoping the engine won't crash ) is simply not designed for combat it was designed for exploration ( quick and 'smart' ). Still, the game's AI makes it impossible to really rank ships battle performance as it often won't match your expectations based on cannon. ( fight a Breen with an energy weapon and see if you can match the show .. not that this would be 'fun' perhaps but still ).
There's no way a starfleet ship 100 years older than intrepid could beat it in a fair battle... Unless you're talking about this game, where they clearly balance the ships to make them playable (ie the intrepid losing to a 120+ year old enterprise as shown)
@@RayJames-mk3yq Yeah 120 years is a lot. A warship from 120 years ago, or even five, would not be able to go up against a modern warship with all of its advanced smart weapons. A modern warship would be able to fire enough missiles to destroy all five before they were even in visual range.
@@mikelovesbacon It depends on who modded the ship. A ship's power level will vary between modders. The Intrepid I had wrecked anything from the TMP era fairly easily, but struggled against ships it was supposed to struggle with.

@Beano Rod I've asked for a copy of that game for review but nothing yet. We play Legacy and Klingon Academy but no way to buy them these days limits the upside!
What I have a problem with is this game has the ship rotating independently from space beyond. It looks weird as space is what is moving as the ship stays still.
We want a modern version! The trouble is Star Trek has moved on and this really for me was the era of what it was all about. Not sure they could recapture that feel 🚀
Thankyou for the video's. I would love to see an interstellar mod added where you can travel to other star systems in quick battle. Which has one of the original mods. I hope the mod continues to develop. It's been great to see the game updated. Not bad for a game from 2002. Thanks again.

@@LTGamingUA-cam Right But for me (before) I would set the resolution to say "1080" or something, play the game fine, until you close and relaunch, nothing. Or an error and have to repaste the "options" file.
I liked Bridge Commander, but never liked flying the ship manually. Preferred just giving orders from the Captain’s chair and letting the helmsman and tactical officer do the flying and shooting.
Either the damage/power of the weapons between the TMP and TNG Era ships is vastly inaccurate -OR- the AI absolutely sucks at flying and piloting a starship in a dogfight. Maybe BOTH. The TMP pulse phasers are considerably weaker than TNG era Shields. Can Bridge Commander say ATTENUATION? There's NO WAY a TMP era Constitution could take pot shots like that at either the intrepid, Galaxy, or the Sovereign from so far away and do meaningful damage. A TMP era Constitution class would have to get uncomfortably close to a Galaxy class to do enough damage fast enough with TMP pulse phasers to bring one of the Galaxy's shields down. That means getting extremely close and repeatedly hitting the same shield. Unfortunately for the Constitution being that close would make it the primary target of much more concentrated and powerful phaser fire that would roast it through its weak/thin TMP era shields until the Galaxy lined it up for a TNG era torpedo which would be overkill. If that weren't embarrassing enough for the aging Constitution class, if some sick bastard really were to put it up against the Sovereign or Intrepid class which are more maneuverable, with weapons attuned and high-powered enough to fight the Borg. Same thing, but now the little TMP era Constitution can't even use its size to its advantage as the Sovereign or Intrepid would be capable of swooping in like a predator upon the Constitution and drilling it into oblivion without the Constitution being able to as much as scratch the Sovereigns/Intrepids armored hull through its multi-layered shielding. It looks cool, this mod and bridge commander, but its always assumed the TMP ships in it have been refit somewhat, even if not visible, to compete. Otherwise, it better be Riker on that Constitution doing his maneuver to get inside their shields, beam a bomb on board using trickery, or somehow trick them or the ship's computer into dropping their shields. Sheer numbers are not even enough to even the playing field in any of these contests. A good example of this is when during the TNG the Enterprise D was more than able to hold off multiple aging Klingon Birds of Prey without much effort. Those Birds of Prey would have been held equal or as serious threats against the TMP Constitution.
I mean interesting analysis but I'm not sure the gap would be so big as stated. There is a trend to keep coming up with more and more OP ships. In space I think anything would be vulnerable and in most cases we see how quickly these starships can fall apart under even minor assault. But hey its all subjective just glad we can play with this quality in 2023! I think this is the weakness of Bridge Commander though its just straight up power vs power. If Kirk taught us anything it's that with the right ingenuity anyone can win in space 🚀

In the age of Remasters/Remakes, and with the resurgence of interest in Trek, you would think that SOMEONE would jump at the chance to remake a game like Bridge Commander. Aside from Star Trek Online and Bridge Crew, there really has not been a mainline Star Trek game in decades
So they haven't improved the engine. That was one of the things about the original that frustrated me. I wanted to create big battles like we saw in DS9 during the Dominion War. But the engine couldn't handle a large number of ships and would crash. I wonder if there is a way to do that.

You can use manual fire, which I find much more effective than the tactical officer. Which means, you are not wrong to use your mouse. 🙃 Fantastic mod.
Manual Fire really is most of the fun i have with this game. Just letting the crew auto-pilot while i use the phasers like a knife to cut necks and nacelles off the ships. Though this mod doesnt seem to have that visible cutting damage like vanilla which is sad.
@LT Gaming I was part of the OG BC mod scene. Believe me, the game was unstable, but we made that game our own. I mainly did texture mods and contributed in other ways, such as realising that if you modify the Python script for a ships phaser output into the negatives, you have just created a "repair beam" I think it was later added to a worker bee IIRC. But yeah, there's an MVAM mod. You can use it with the Galaxy Class and the Prometheus. There's possibly more models that can do it, but it's been so long. There's also mods to eject the warp core, abandon ship to shuttle or captiains yacht, Different bridges, an entire Kobayashi Maru game mode too. So many models were made. Even the Voyager model with all the future tech on it, such as the ablative armour and tricobalt devices. I will have to get intouch with some old friends, see if any of all the hard work is stored somewhere. If I get some links, I'll post them in a reply
Can we add additional ships from Halo and actual ship descriptions that give lore and stats on the new ships and where they lack. Also maybe fix bugs on the older ships.

BC is back baaaaby!
Subtitles don t bring it here around were almost everything gets dubbed
People like me loving it had been a slim minority back in those times.
A game in resurgence due to very little quality since!
I was secretly hoping that they was going to use Enterprise A in the last episode of Star Trek Picard...
One of my favorite of all time!
This game needs a remake. It was hell lots of fun to play.
The ship models look great, but I noticed there was no hull damage shown (like tearing chunks of the hull apart and seeing the interior decks). That was Bridge Commander's party trick, so if that's removed because of the mod then no thanks.
I turned it off for a prior battle due to performance drops 🚀🚀
Just grabbed a new copy of this on gog. I wish this mod supported more resolutions though as my monitor doesn't do 1080. I also could have sworn bridge commander had voice command but that doesn't seem to work now.
Yes I'm with super wide-screen and having that issue!
Okay I just tried it and I love the new ship models and textures, but got instantly erased by the two earlu warbirds. That's the issue with some fan mods, the balance seems wonky.
Having found it unbalanced at all. What was the issue?
This was the very first video game I worked on straight out of college. To see it have a life 20+ years later is really heartwarming.
Awesome! thanks for commenting and its great that you got to work on it! What did you do with the game? :)
@@LTGamingUA-cam I worked on most of the characters in the game (They were super low poly...only 1000 tris each), a few of the ships including the Bird of Prey and Marauder, and a good chunk of the menus and UI. It was a pretty small team, so we got to wear multiple hats.
@@rojakstudios Then modders would luv this im sure! :) Did you work on many other games in your career?
@@LTGamingUA-cam Yes, I've worked on a bunch of games from PC to consoles to VR. Aside from Star Trek, Skylanders and Sonic for DS were really fun projects.
Do you know what? Im going to buy STBC and install this new mod and Im having the fun of my life. Thank you very much for this video.
Most Welcome! Glad you enjoyed it and are having fun :)
omg thank you for including a method of legally downloading the game. I used to have so much fun back in the day playing this, even multiplayer.. I don't even remember what fleet i was in but our rival was a fleet called the devil dogs.. they were worthy opponents :p
Yes you can get it on GOG. The only way to do it these days 🙂🚀
Probably your were in WP (Wolf Pack)

Always time to get back into it 🚀🚀
STBC one of the best PC games ever made top5
Does the game have a VR mode, e.g. playable over an Occulus/PC Link?
It does not as its over 20 years old but there is a VR Bridge Crew game 🚀
I own the original version of this software. Can you share how us non-tech users upgrade to get these additional features? Thanks!
Follow the Remastered link in the description and have full instructions there :)
Is this considered the main mod to have? Or are there others that improve other aspects besides just the graphics?
Generally considered the modern mod to have. Check out the Star Trek: Legacy mod too for Bridge Commander.
Can you get the remastered mod to work with the galaxy war simulator used in kobayashi maru mod?
I don't think so currently! 🤔
Really nice looking but I still have a little more atmopherical feeling by playing Klingon Academy. Especially in damage detail and station funktion/allocation. But both storys are still compelling. Well done lad. . . Nifty Greetings from Germany 🖖😎
Appreciate it! We covered KA also on the channel :)
@@LTGamingUA-cam yeah! Thanxalot for your videos! Of course I will check them aswell. 👍😎
Man this game is over a decade old and its still fun. I would say tho klingon academy has better controls using th full keyboard and having transporters. On both!
I might get this on when i get a pc again
Does this mod do anything with the campaign or is it just yhe battles?
Campaign is Remastered!
Thanks for sharing that cool story! :)
Wish it would call out Dorsal/Ventral shields, not top/bottom
This seems to irritate many haha. But tbh never bothered me!
The line must be drawn HERE! " Capt J.l. Picard Arp 5th (my Bday wow) 2021
Does it have Galaxy Charts? In Kobayashi Maru mod, you get to simulate the events after Dominion War which is fun.
Damn, this brings me back.
Enjoy it :)
Where I spend the entire episode wailing on other ships with a Connie xD
Haha as an original series fan this gave me great pleasure 🤣🤣🚀
You can realy make an RPG in open space with this hillarious game mechanics and in Star Trek setting. A few mils of bucks is needed. Dreams...
Star Trek Bridge Commander looks so good but for me it's unplayable because the UI and font size are just way too small. I can't find any kind of fix for it.
Not sure how to solve unless you lower the resolution?
lower the rez, and force aggressive AA in your GPU's control panel?
I used to play the crap out of this game in clan SFX !
Oh amazing...Great experience?
@@LTGamingUA-cam made some awesome friends, played for years.. didn't stay in touch unfortunately.
It having the NX has me interested... by far my favourite Enterprise, its so cool looking unique compared to most Fedy ships... save my 2nd favourite the Akira.
Both in it and both awesome :)
1701 vs a kazon ship? federation shouldve stuck to the pulse type weapons instead of the lance type!!!
WHERE Can I Get This Game???

I wonder if they finally got these graphical mods to work with the campaign? I lost interest in BC mods when nothing worked with the main game.
Yep works with the main campaign 🚀 it does have some crashes though. But overall well implemented. I play the Remastered campaign on Steam Deck!
Awesome video. Subscribed.
Awesome, thank you!
THANK YOU for posting a direct link to the Star Trek: Bridge Commander mod! Still have my CD-ROM/DVD-ROM(?) and I repurchased it on GoG a while ago so I don't have to go crazy getting it to run with WIndows 10. Great Star Trek computer game.
Most welcome! It's an awesome game 🚀
We need more ST games like this. Also a legal way to buy ST Legacy would be nice as well. Only ST game in development is a story based game in the vein of Telltale games :l
@Beano Rod I've asked for a copy of that game for review but nothing yet. We play Legacy and Klingon Academy but no way to buy them these days limits the upside!
@@beanorod-zt2nl ebay has original copies
What I have a problem with is this game has the ship rotating independently from space beyond. It looks weird as space is what is moving as the ship stays still.
This game is the reason why I never really enjoyed STO. This was possible, but yet they went on with arcade.
We want a modern version! The trouble is Star Trek has moved on and this really for me was the era of what it was all about. Not sure they could recapture that feel 🚀
Wow...it's been a LOOOONG time since I've played this. Used to mod the hell out of it...until I lost my mod.

Thankyou for the video's. I would love to see an interstellar mod added where you can travel to other star systems in quick battle. Which has one of the original mods. I would love to see that added to the remastered version. Also a mod to replace the old crew with some better models. I have the seatbelt mod that lets you get out of the chair and walk around. I would love to see that one added as well. Ultimately I would love to see some new missions added. However after trying my hand at scripting for the game, I know how difficult that would be. I hope the mod continues to develop. It's been great to see the game updated. Not bad for a game from 2002. Thanks again.
You are most welcome. I will be featuring KM and TOS mod again soon also. Finding and playing this game was one of the best things I ever got to do! Your support is appreciated 🚀

Since when did the Constitution class have aft torpedoes?
Is this a new version of this MOD where it works more that once at a time?
Has always worked fine for me but this is 1.2! Need to follow the install instructions closely though.
I kind of agree just many play it outside the ship for UA-cam!
I assume this works with Kobayashi Maru mod?
This needs to be installed separately!
Will definitely check it out then as soon as I can. Thanks for the hard work!

I'd love to see more Bridges and uniforms added to this game if possible.
For a long time i was using the Enterprise NX-01 bridge and uniforms..... so much fun.
How do you get this to play on a new computer and where did you get it?

In the age of Remasters/Remakes, and with the resurgence of interest in Trek, you would think that SOMEONE would jump at the chance to remake a game like Bridge Commander. Aside from Star Trek Online and Bridge Crew, there really has not been a mainline Star Trek game in decades
Totally agree! Just look at the interest in this video 🚀 anyone got a contact at Paramount? 😀
What happened to the damage modeling?
It may have been accidently turned off as was doing a quick battle with a Borg Cube and it slows the game down!
So they haven't improved the engine.
That was one of the things about the original that frustrated me. I wanted to create big battles like we saw in DS9 during the Dominion War. But the engine couldn't handle a large number of ships and would crash. I wonder if there is a way to do that.
I can’t for the life of me place your accent. You sound like your from the south of England and I’m leaning more to the south west. I say this cause I’m from the south west.

I just got into BC about 6 months ago, and have the original version with Remastered and KM mods available. I favor KM as they really went all out with the extra missions in that version, but Remastered is prettier, and has a ton of potential for future expansion.
Yeah for sure it feels like it can go even further. KM is great but very temperamental!
@@LTGamingUA-cam so was Klingon Academy. THAT was the the best game to allow you to feel the mass of these ships. It's a real shame the engine is so old and no developer has dared to couch up the license fees needed to use the franchise. I think there would be plenty of potential buyers as long as the game is good.
Then again, I'm still playing Birth Of The Federation as one of my most enjoyable games... nostalgia goes a long way I guess :D

You need the MVAM mod
The what now....I'm open to explore all BC mods ha! 🚀🚀
@LT Gaming I was part of the OG BC mod scene. Believe me, the game was unstable, but we made that game our own.
I mainly did texture mods and contributed in other ways, such as realising that if you modify the Python script for a ships phaser output into the negatives, you have just created a "repair beam"
I think it was later added to a worker bee IIRC.
But yeah, there's an MVAM mod. You can use it with the Galaxy Class and the Prometheus. There's possibly more models that can do it, but it's been so long.
There's also mods to eject the warp core, abandon ship to shuttle or captiains yacht,
Different bridges, an entire Kobayashi Maru game mode too.
So many models were made. Even the Voyager model with all the future tech on it, such as the ablative armour and tricobalt devices.
I will have to get intouch with some old friends, see if any of all the hard work is stored somewhere. If I get some links, I'll post them in a reply
Now we need Klingon a academy remastered
I've played the NGA mod on the channel but this is defo a step up in ship models!
Can we add additional ships from Halo and actual ship descriptions that give lore and stats on the new ships and where they lack. Also maybe fix bugs on the older ships.
