Metal Monday...April 1st...I smell a prank video
My thought exactly. My guess is that he'll play something turned up to 11. 😁
I was half-expecting Hatebeak
Fooled me, it's April 2nd in Oz when this premiered
(gotta look in video details to see posted April 1st)
As a Metal fan. I'd have no idea it's a prank. 🤣🤣🤣
He did that a few weeks ago...he did Tears for Fears on a Monday
Bill McClintock is a genius
He really is.
His Temptations and Overkill mashup is a legit banger.
His mashup and Fleetwood Mac and Earth Wind & Fire might be better than either original song (and they were both already amazing).
the land down "oneder" is so effing good
I'm a picky mofo and don't slap a "genius" label on just anything. That said, Bill McClintock has absolutely EARNED the "genius" label.
It's hard to pick out a favorite, but his "Ace of Shout" matchup is nothing short of glorious.
I'm hoping to one day hear a "Rainbow in the Dark of the Bay" mashup of Otis Redding and DIO.
You know.... in a world obsessed with negativity, chaos and hopelessness it's nice to tune into Doug with his smiling face, great sense of humor and great comments and jam some frickin metal. Or whatever
Bill's mashups are amazing. He even snuck in some Megadeth there during the solo!
And some Judas Priest
Yeah, thought I saw Marty Friedman in there.
Yeah peace sells
*shake* *shake* *shake*...*scattering noises*... "Ah, man. The top came off. We're gonna keep rolling tho..." *Doug dances*
I'm dying
Before you even played the song, I thought "Wait, is this an April Fool's, Doug?" but I definitely wasn't expecting this! 🤣
Your shaker beads flying everywhere was just the icing on the cake. Lol
Bill McClintock is the master of mashups. His Slayer with Wham or the Bangles are genius
The Slayer & Katrina and the Waves mash up is his best
What an absolute banger. They just dont make metal as heavy as this anymore.
I was expecting Rick Astley, honestly.🤪 Huey Lewis rocks!
Some folks are fixin to be Rick Rolled.
First thing I thought.
And so Doug has finally lost his beads... :)
Thanks for that Doug, it has lifted my spirit for sure. Here is another great mashup if you want to keep going.. Earth Wind and Fire with Foo Fighters....it rocks!
ua-cam.com/video/p5faHg_FjG4/v-deo.html
Doug is just too pure of heart to put on a convincing poker face
Excellent - well done Doug! Put a smile on my face.
Nothing else matters but the Heart of Rock and Roll 🤘🏻 is on side B
He hasn't heard the Cannibal Corpse lounge music tv sketch.
They even got Megadeth from Rust in Peace tour on the screen.
James Hetfield's "heh heah!" was perfectly timed after the top came off. 😂
Huey's "backup singers" in the dark glasses are members of the San Francsico 49ers from the late 80, including Joe Montana and Dwight Clark. They came on stage with Huey and the News on several occasions.
Fun Fact/ Huey Lewis toured playing harmonica and back up vocals with Thin Lizzy and considered Phil Lynot a role model..
It's actually three songs. The solo is Living after Midnight by Judas Priest.
Four songs - there are also some guitar riffs and one solo from Megadeth's "Peace Sells".
His best mashup is "Raining Lobsters" ("Raining Blood" by Slayer + "Rock Lobster" by the B-52's).
when I heard the solo from Living After Midnight, I was hyped!!
I tried so hard not to scream in my office.
what a nice mashup, thank you Mr.Doug, for introduce this to us😍
WOW! Who'd a thunk it??? I like it! We used to play Enter Sandman every night. But this version is really 'hip'! Thanks for posting this! Greg in TN 😀 PS: Sorry about the shaker.
Bill McClintock is a mad scientist! You must react to the Slayer Edwin Starr collaboration! 😂
The expression on your face alone after the spill made the video extra good - way to go Doc.
One of Bill McClintock’s masterpiece mashups. 🤘
it's amazing what they can to with recordings now, separating parts of the music and patching them together with other stuff. somebody put a lot of work into this. kudos.
Har har, hardy har har! (Bug's quote"! So was that Glen whipping out the LIVING AFTER MIDNIGHT solo @ 4:27?? Cool! 🕊️☮️
Doug the solo wasn't Kirk, it was showing Megadeth with Marty Dave and Nick doing the symphony solo
Ole' "Wild" Bill is a made genius. Between him and DJ Cumberbun there are some seriously amazing mashups.
Bill McClintock and DJ Cummerbund are both amazing mashup artists. I can never decide which I like more 😂
Fantastic! Well done Mr McClintock, absolutely loved this piece of genius music. could you ask him if he has anymore tracks like this we can listen to?
Given the date, I figured this was either going to be Primitive Man or ABBA. But can’t go wrong with a Billy Mc mashup.
This was an absolute treasure, is this a yearly tradition now? God I hope so!
Doug was distracted by the shaker mess that he missed the Megadeth Peace Sells riff, and he just listened to the track, lol. Plus, that was a snippet of Chris Poland’s solo.
C’mon, this has to be an April fools joke, right?? The shaker breaking was surely a highlight 😂
I'm so happy Doug knows who Bill McClintock is! ☺️
I have found profound connections between Heavy METAL and CLASSICAL. I love BOTH genres because I think there is a trade off between the 2.
Guitar solo was from Megadeth's "peace sells". My fav moment was 3:50
Followed by the solo from Judas Priest Living After Midnight.
Well that just put an unexpected smile on my face!!!!
That was such unexpected suuuuper fun. Talk about going from excited to disappointed and then,,,,, exactly what I didn't know I need. Thank you Doug 🤘
Haha! Your shaker thingy played an April Fool’s joke on you too!
I don't know how many times I've watched this since you've posted it. I sent the link to all my musical friends. Thanks again! 😀
If you like mashups, you should listen to Zonkey, a studio album by Umphrey's McGee. They created 12 mashups that blend 2, 3, or 4 popular songs into amazing works. My favorite is "Life During Exodus" which merges songs from Bob Marley, Talking Heads, Chicago, and Frank Zappa! Give them a listen.
I'm a fan too. This song is great. Thank you for introduce me to it. 🤣
Bill Mc Clintock on the Daily Doug: that's fame!! If you never browsed through Bill's catalogue, try "Eminence of holy wars and creeping death", this entirely new song is awsome! Then check all Slayer mashups, they've got an extra flavor everytime.
Doug, please do a video on the band Jellyfish and their song Joining A Fan Club. That would be so great! I’d love for you to hear that band!
My favorite UA-cam channel. This sealed the deal @ 3:33. I was laughing so hard my family though I turned insane because I watched it like 10 times in a row laughing every time.
Bill McClintock's mashup of Slayer & Katrina and the Waves is absolute genius...and hilarious to boot. "And don't it feel good? Chemical Warfare!"
Not the Kirk solo i expected either. But as always Peace Sells but who's buyin.
Love Huey,and the combo works
Funny :). My favourite one of these is a mashup between Wham! "Last Christmas" and Slayer "Angel of death." 4:06 is the solo from Peace Sells and the it morphs into the solo from Judas Priest's Livin after Midnight. Fun little mashup for April Fools!
You should find the one where they sad, but true mash up with some thing, and it’ll blow your mind. I played this one for my brother-in-law, and he fell over.
Doug, the last 8 bars of the guitar solo is the solo from "Living After Midnight" by Judas Priest. Take a listen to it and compare!
Yes, by Glenn Tipton. And in the beginning of the solo is Marty Friedman from another (Megadeth?) song. Definitely not Kirk Hammett...
Bill McClintock is a legend! I love his mashups.
You need to be watching Bill's Soul Metal mashups. The guy is amazing. I was listening to his Rick James Dio track on a loop when he posted that one and 'Burn, She Said' or 'Mutiny at the Go-Go' are pure genius.
Not all of Bill McClintock's mashups are great... but most of them are - and those that aren't are still fun. He does an amazing job with these things!
Was so hoping it was the Ballad of Bilbo Baggins
It's amazing how many mashups work together
April fools or not, that was pretty awesome
Doug, you are a treasure! Never stop being you!
The end of the guitar solo comes from Living After Midnight - Judas Priest 🤘🏻
The original Huey Lewis video has the SF 49ers, including Joe Montana and Dwight Clark: ua-cam.com/video/5Lz-qrpg79M/v-deo.html
Thanks Doug!!! I did not think you would show me anything about Metallica that would literally blow my mind!! You did, and I appreciate it!!
Bill McClintock channel is pure gold. Can't say which mashup is the best. Each is great.
This time I was only eating a sandwich, but when the top came off that shaker I nearly choked.
Adding the peace sell’s riffs to this is absolutely menacing 😂
Ahhh, you got me. Even 3 days after the fact - didn't check the date until it started.
I like this mash up, but the One / Land Down Under mashup is still my favourite.
What no mention of the Glenn Tipton cameo playing the solo from Living After Midnight?
Buahahahah! This is so God damn great! Truly goated! Thanks for sharing! :D
3:51 Shaker _Damage, Inc._ Heh.
3:59 The walkdown from _Peace Sells._ Is Mustaine gonna get angry again? Some may believe he's never not angry. I mean, he can't _always_ be angry. Can he?
The only problem with this mashup is that Lars could never keep that steady a back beat. And the ride cymbal pattern at the end...well, that's self-explanatory.
I was in disbelief at the beginning, so fool, but I got, a little slow but I got it! it was fantastic and yes it works very well, thank you for that mister, I always enjoy your videos, always, your knowledge of the chords just by hearing? Amazing, every single time, blows me away man! such an experienced musician you are. Love your channel.
In addition to my first statement I find HEAVY distorted GUITAR, has a similarity in sound, to Woodstrings. Chellos, base fiddles ECT.
But seriously, if you're wanting to get into mashups in general, you really cannot go wrong looking into the Mouth series of albums by Neil Cicierega. They are all more or less musical shitposts (a song that combines Tears for Fears, an old Chili's jingle, and Marilyn Manson is called 'Ribs' -- the reference to the old urban legend is more than a coincidence, i think).
Some of the songs you would have no idea would actually work together like they do, but Neil is quite an accomplished artist in his own right.
The best Bill McClintock mashup is Van Halen/Jackson Five "Mean Machine". It's a masterpiece. A very young Michael is a rock .star
Very clever! LOL! The beads coming out of the shaker had the perfect rhythm too! Rock On Doug!🤘
Three Little Pigs by Green Jelly?
This popped up in my UA-cam yesterday after many years haha
I'm digging it.
The mix that I didn't know I needed and loved is Riders on the Storm - Doors Featuring Snoop Dogg. So Good.
LOL, I got gotten, too, lol! Happy April First! (And you were right--THAT shit was heavy as a danged black hole in Cyngus X-1!)
who knew Sean Hopper played a one-off with 'tallica! Awwwwwwwwesome! Now that's a song that's worth breaking equipment over!
That was very cool!! I had never seen this before.
This is my new favorite metal song too, I can't believe I missed this one back in the day
I didn't see this on Monday, so I'm watching this on Friday. 😂😂😂 It took me a minute to remember Mon was April Fool's Day and this has no right to work as well as it does. Good prank Doug. Well done🤘
Just Caught this two days late, now rewinding the clock, I get it!!!! Nice one!!!!!
These videos are a lot of fun. It's not something I could listen to all the time, but when they do pop up, I usually enjoy them.
BILL MCCLINTLOCK! I LOVE his mashups. His Ratt/Marvin Gaye one is definitely one too check out. Also his Ball of Confusion mashup. THAT one is EPIC. My absolute favorite one is his Black Label Society and Temptations mashup, Suicide Confusion. It's dark, and it's amazing.
Since I heard the mashup of Stevie Wonder and Metallica, Sad But Superstitious, I can't hear either song without hearing that version.
That's pretty neat! Fun!! I have to get kind of a kick out of how you say something concerning what key they're both in, and I (personally) never really give that issue much thought simply because I play (any song) in any key. I'm just curious, from your perspective, other than the singers' range, why does it (in this case, for example) matter if both songs match?.. I just scoot the root to whatever fits the situation. Mind you this question is from a pretty good guitarist, who doesn't have any formal music training, nor can I read music, but I have learned a lot of tidbits from you and a couple others on here. BTW, I am a huge DT fan and have been for 30+ years... love your videos ❤
The Devil's Horns section kicking it up a notch!!! 🤘👌
Did Bill throw Judas Priest in for the guitar 🎸 solo's?
BTW the new Priest album best in decades!
Yes he did! Living After Midnight solo.
@ericstrauch3215
Someone should suggest brand new Priest album.
My favourite metallica mashup remains Beatallica. The thing that should not let it be is a masterpiece.
Definitely a fun and surprising pop up video 😮 take care and have fun 😎
I do not understand what I just saw.
I did not know it existed until this video.
Doug, you have made my day.
Honestly, if you like this, you would love "Don't Stop the Sandman".
Mashup with Journey - Don't Stop Believing and Metallica - Enter Sandman
A band called Rock Sugar has an amazing version of this where they actually sound like the bands they are doing.
Turn that empty shaker into a bong.
I've been obsessed with Bill's mashup between Five Finger Deathpunch and Marvin Gaye for months now. Bill McClintock is a certified genius. Also, one byproduct of his mashups is that I think it really reveals the musicality that underlies Metallica's songwriting. I don't think any of Bill's Slayer or Megadeth mashups works especially well, but almost all of the Metallica mashups are legitimately good songs.
Fun and all, but why not try Archspire next Monday? Or one of the first two albums from Darkthrone, if you want a challenge? 😉 For something a bit more mellow, maybe Decapitated?
I’ve just entered into another dimension. I’d better hide from myself, so not to disrupt the time rift.
Yep, it's a great track. There are more, where this came from \m/
It's not that things don't make sense, it's that they make perfect sense in obvious ways that we always look past.
I love it!!!😂
